oysters, grilled octopus, corn ribs, and potato pave with caviar

The food was not bad, but would not say it lives up to the prices. We got a squid ink pasta which is not pictured, but it contained sea urchin that did not taste fresh at all. But, the oysters tasted pretty fresh with little to no sea water taste. The interior of this restaurant is unique and interesting with nice ambiance. The service was good at first until we asked for the bill and a 20% gratuity fee was applied which is for a party of 6 or more (as stated in the menu), but we only had 5 people. When we asked the waitress about this, she said that the statement in the menu isn't updated, and that they charge this fee on weekends because it's busier (not stated in the menu). Mind you the restaurant was completely empty when we walked in at 8pm. However, the waitress did ended up refunding us the difference for the tip.

Wagyu beef burger - AWESOME

We wanted burgers and had been meaning to try Tavern 157. Was a quiet night, we didn't know what to expect but it couldn't have gone better! Possibly the best burger we've ever eaten out, definitely the best in a very long while!! Exquisite meat, great char, cooked perfectly, every bite was delicious. The fries and onion rings on the side were delish, hot and not greasy. We had two burgers and shared a few beers, left very satisfied. The place is nice, has a great atmosphere, our server was working solo but never showed stress, did a great job. Will definitely go back. Recommend!

Sangria, sooooo delish!

It's time to update the review as I feel like Tavern 157 just keeps getting better. The drinks are fire. The menu is on point. I really like sitting at the bar and getting a drink, but also give me their charcuterie board any day of the week. What makes this spot is the decor. It's quite interesting. It's almost giving medieval. The drinks are creative and delicious. The blood orange mojito and the yuzu drink (not sure what it's actually called) are my favs. I love taking friends here that I haven't seen in a minute. It's a great place to catch up or even take a date too. Come to think of it, I don't think I've had a full meal here. We only come for the drinks and the apps because the apps themself are delicious. Standby for a review about one of their entrees.

It's been a while since the last time i dined at tavern 157! So glad to be back here again. Everything we ordered not only they looked good , they tasted good as well. The service was on point and the ambiance in the restaurant is Amazing! The oysters stole the show as we had almost 2.5 dozens of them . They were so fresh and sweet !

Came to Tavern 157 on a weekday for dinner and did not have a reservation but did not have any issues getting seated. The restaurant is located in an area of flushing with a good amount of street parking. The vibe of the place was so nice with large open windows to the street and we were able to get a seat by the window; felt like we were sitting outside but without being burnt by the sun. Our waiters were very nice and efficient. The menu was tapas-focused, but also had several nice entrees. We mostly got tapas and also got lobster risotto to share and everything was delicious! We also go the creme brûlée and lava cake for dessert and both were very good as well. This was a fresh place to go in flushing amongst all the Asian food; so if you are in the area but looking for something unique outside of Asian good, this is the perfect spot!

Seafood pasta and steak. So so delicious

Food was amazing and delicious and I felt like I was in a movie set. Inside of the restaurant is so beautiful. And the waitress was so friendly recommending a delicious plate. Great place for a date course. A beautiful restaurant.

Braised Beef Shot Rib

Went in for a birthday dinner with family and left so satisfied. The ambience, aesthetic and service were perfect! The Braised Beef Shot Rib and Grilled octopus sealed the deal. Definitely coming back again

Ordered sooo much for such a good deal! For apps we got the seafood bisque, fish tacos, crab & spinach dip, and truffle fries. The crab & spinach dip was my favorite and my family really enjoyed the truffle fries! The seafood bisque was average but it was good and the fish tacos were pretty worth it because they give a decent amount of fish! As for entrees we got the tavern157 burger which was pretty good and the squid ink pasta and braids short rib & bone marrow which were my favorite! You have to get the squid ink pasta! Loved their playing as well. Highly recommended!

Came here for dinner with friend from Singapore. The ambiance was enjoyable like an old library with book stands, stairs, stools, and tables. The lighting was dim enough to project the library feeling too. Seamless integration I checked in with Yelp and i claimed free fries offer. Pretty generous on the fries I ordered a burger cooked medium rare. It was alright. I had better burger elsewhere tho... It was a cold night so I ordered hot water to warm my hands. I saw dust particles at the bottom of my cup of water, it seemed the cup wasnt properly cleaned. I ordered another cup of water, and it also came with particles in the bottom as well. Twice was enough. They need to clean up their dishes properly, cant believe it happened twice! : (

Drinks were great and food was great , octopus cooked perfectly and the cauliflower was so addicting , would comeback again . Bartender was also very nice.

Good food and ambiance. A bit pricey but good unique food. Service was good. The octopus was our favorite. Definitely recommend it. Popcorn chicken was also good.

We placed an order to order four items on DoorDash for delivery. I knew something was odd when the bag of food seemed so empty. Upon checking the receipt, I realized food was missing. I called tavern directly and spoke to a lady. She tried to resolve by asking me to contact DoorDash and have it re-delivered or I can go pick up. I contacted DoorDash and opted for a refund because dealing with the hassle, wasting another 30 mins and tipping again simply didn't make sense. Not only did I waste my time, I lost out on the tip money for the DoorDash delivery person. It wasn't his fault at all. I contacted Tavern again to inform them that I got a refund and mentioned to them how horrible this experience was. The lady insist that they can remake the order and I can go pick up. Seriously? You want me to waste my time to go pick up and then head back home to eat what would become cold food?As continue to speak my mind, she offered a credit to dine in. It's a nice gesture, but meaningless after wasting 20 mins BTW, when I called the second time... James on the receipt picked up and he was clueless. He didn't apologize or acknowledged that he messed up. Instead, he handed over the phone to the lady that I spoke to.

Braised Short Rib and Bone Marrow - good
Jess L.

Really lovely space and ambiance. They were very careful about the details. I wish the menu had had more descriptions. Yelp was incredibly clutch in figuring out what to get. The peach bubble was very pretty and fruity. A little more volume would have been great. Lobster "medallions" were no medallions, but it was tasty and easy to eat. The short rib with bone marrow was decadent. I wish there had been a green or something crunchy. That being said, we really enjoyed the side of Brussels, side of risotto balls, and lava cake dessert. This part of the meal was actually the star. Our waitresses were attentive and comped us a glass of wine when our dessert was late - a memorable gesture. I'd recommend!

Ask the Community - Tavern 157

Is this restaurant good for a child?

I don't see why not. They have sitting benches by the front. I'd say go! It's an intimate vibe-type setting.

I'm wonder if they have any bottomless options? Or unlimited drinks on the weekends?

No they do not.

Do they serve regular menu items during brunch?

I don't think so.

Do they still have the happy hours?

Yes

Is there outdoor dining option available?

Not anymore.

How is the parking at night?

Parking isn't too bad. You're gonna be in the residential area but across the street usually has open parking. I usually don't find any parking spots on Tavern 157's side.

Can we byod?

No they sell wine and beer only

How's Sunday brunch here?

AMAZING. I love their brunch menu items and their mimosas!

Will they be having a valentines dinner special?

They usually have a theme night for special ocassions, been there for Halloween, Ugly Sweater night, going there for Super Bowl Sunday. Give them a call!

When is happy hour?

5-7pm, weekdays

We were seated immediately, first few people there and I can tell it is popular because we weren't the only ones who came in as soon as they opened. The bartender was very accomplished and friendly, the drink specials were great. A+ for letting us use our computers at the bar! WiFi is available! No outlets though which wasn't an issue for us! We both got the green tea shots which was soooo good btw! We were also able to share the 4 sake flight which was also good. It allowed us to see what we liked and what we didn't. I personally enjoyed the coconut and the matcha, closely following in with the original. My friend enjoyed the original, then the matcha, coconut and last would be the sakura as it tasted too artificial. Since we came in as soon as they opened, it was pretty chill and calm. The real star of the night was Joyce behind the bar. She's the kind of bartender who instantly makes you feel welcome, like you've been a regular for years even if it's your first visit. She knows her drinks, makes amazing recommendations, and somehow keeps the energy fun and relaxed even when the bar gets busy. You can tell she genuinely cares about people having a good experience, and that kind of service is rare. Her gin and tonic was perfectly balanced -- crisp, refreshing, and honestly one of the best I've had. And the green tea shots? Dangerous in the best way possible. Smooth, flavorful, and way too easy to keep ordering because they go down so well. Joyce makes them with consistency and a little extra flair that makes the whole experience feel special. Food-wise, I highly recommend the pork dumplings -- flavorful, perfectly cooked, and the ideal pairing with drinks. Everything just worked together: great food, great drinks, and even better hospitality. Joyce truly elevates the entire atmosphere at Firefly, turning a normal night out into something memorable. If you're going, sit at the bar, trust her recommendations, and thank me later. 10/10 experience -- I'll absolutely be back.
