Hong Kong Style Pineapple w/ Butter (2)

I love Cantonese Styled Breakfast. It's quick and delicious. This place is called Tasty Spot but I think it's essentially Delicious Food Corner in disguise? They have a great deal for dim sum where you choose 2 dim sum dishes and get a complimentary drink (I.e. coffee, milk tea, lemon tea). Can also get your usual Asian breakfast with porridge and chow mein noodles as well as all the usual dishes like Pineapple Bun, rice noodle shrimp, etc. Lots of parking in the back. Can get pretty crowded on weekend morning. Breakfast ends at 11:30am.

WHY I CAME HERE? They used to be called Delicious Food Corner. Now they are Tasty Spot Cafe. Anyway, I was here to pick up dinner for my youngest daughter. FOOD / DRINK: Got two orders of the Shredded Pork Chow Mein (crispy style). Very tasty pork especially with the gravy. Crispy noodles were great. I also got a cup of water. STAFF / SERVICE: The gentleman who helped me with my order was pleasant and nice. Thank you sir for your great service. INTERIOR / AMBIANCE: Inside space has an open concept with a lovely red decor. They have bench seating along the window plus standard tables and chairs. Restrooms are available for use. No key code required. EXTERIOR / PARKING: Free parking in the back of the restaurant. It has adequate number of parking spots, but if they get super busy, the lot will fill up very fast. Do come here early for lunch and/or dinner to avoid parking challenges. RECOMMEND THIS PLACE? Yes, this is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Come support them! They are known for their breakfast items. I want to come back to try their dim sum one of these days.

This spot used to be DFC (Delicious Food Corner) but it looks like they've rebranded -- though the menu seems pretty much the same. We came for Tuesday dinner and it was fairly quiet, with maybe four other tables when we arrived. Food-wise, everything was tasty, and they even served a complimentary soup and dessert, which was a nice touch. The best part, though, is the pricing, very reasonable, especially for a restaurant located in Arcadia. Here's what we tried: Crispy Salt Fried Chicken - Pretty good! Slightly pink inside but seemed fully cooked. Nice crisp texture and balanced salt flavor. I've had better, but still enjoyable. (4/5) Shrimp and Egg Gravy with Rice Noodles - Decent, though a bit lacking in flavor. I added some chili to give it a kick. Not bad overall. (3.5/5) String Beans with Meat - Really good and only $11.99, plus it came with rice. Great value and something I'd definitely get again. (4.5/5) Kung Pao Chicken - Another $11.99 dish and my favorite of the night. Flavorful, satisfying, and came with white rice -- best bang for your buck. (4.5/5) Overall: Solid food, great prices, and a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're in the area. Parking: Plenty available, they have a lot.

Singing Chicken Hot Pot was not good

This is one of the worst Hong Kong style cafes I've been to unfortunately. Also, it's very confusing how the outside of the restaurant says "Tasty Spot Cafe" BUT the menu and the uniform the staff says "Delicious Food Corner" Parking was ok since there was a small parking lot in the back of the restaurant Staff were not too friendly or attentive. I don't think I was even offered a water refill even though my cup was empty for most of the time. I tried couple times to get their attention for a water refill and was just ignored so I stopped trying Inside was pretty spacious with plenty of seating. I went for the $11.95/dish special they were having and there were 22 dishes to choose from. Keep in mind these dishes don't come with rice so rice is an additional charge. The rice was beyond disappointing - it was literally undercooked and did not taste fresh and fluffy as rice should taste like! The Singing Chicken Hot Pot was served in a small and rusty bowl. The chicken was extremely salty and inedible. Honestly, there were hardly any chicken pieces and it was mostly just a bunch of onions and a couple red peppers. This was 4/10 The Sweet and Sour Cod Fish was just ok. The fish didn't taste fresh and was somewhat mushy on the inside. The outside was crispy and it wasn't too greasy. This was 5/10 Braised Tofu Roasted Pork Hot Pot ($19.75) was so extremely salty and the roasted pork was very hard to chew. The braised Tofu didn't taste fresh and felt too deeply fried. The inside of the tofu wasn't as soft as I was expecting so I doubt this was made in-house. This was 4/10 Overall, I had a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend or return.

We just tried the Tasty Spot Cafe in the Arcadia location for lunch on Mother's Day. (It used to be called Delicious Food Corner.) It's located on Baldwin Ave next to the KFC. I've been going to different Delicious Food Corner and the Tasty Spot Cafe locations, but haven't had a chance to try this location. My mom wanted to try this location because she heard the radio commercial that they had Mother's Day Specials. It was spacious inside compared to other Tasty Spot Cafes. We reserved our party of 5 a few days ahead, and the Mother's Day menu included the following: -Soy sauce chicken half 古法豉油雞 -Fresh beef (Filet mignon) 法式牛柳 -Egg Tofu with mushroom玉子豆腐炒鲜菌 -Seasonal Greens in soup 上湯時蔬 -Lobster E-Min (Noodle) 薑蔥龍蝦伊麵 -Dessert -Osmanthus Flower Jelly (桂花糕) We also ordered HK-style Milk Tea and HK-style Lemon Tea. All the food tasted delicious, the portion size was good, and we liked the filet mignon, egg tofu with mushroom, and Lobster e-min. They were very flavorful. The service was okay, but slow that day because they were busy on Mother's Day. They also serve dim sum, but we did not have room to try it this time.

Came here to meet up with a few in laws. I believe this restaurant is both Tasty Spot Cafe and Delicious Food Corner - which is a little confusing when pulling into their large parking lot. We came for the breakfast special which is choose 2 items and a drink for $13.95. Prices on other items/entrees are comparable to other cafes in the area. The food is ok, not bad but not memorable either. The interior is pretty big and it the floors and tables were all very clean.

Im a frequent here, the place feels cozy and welcoming, and the staff were friendly without being pushy. I ordered their BBQ plate and Peking pork chops, cboth were excellent. The pork belly was nice and crispy which I really liked. What stood out most was how quickly everything came out and how clean the space was. It's the kind of spot that works for a quick bite or a relaxed morning. Overall, I'm glad I stopped by. Good food, good service, and a comfortable environment.

I decided to come here for their breakfast specials. I've been to other delicious food corner locations in the past but this is my first time coming to this location. Though it says delicious food corner, it's also called tasty spot cafe on yelp and on their website which is a little confusing... I got their wonton soup and that came with rice noodles with dried shrimp and a cup of milk tea. This meal is part of their breakfast specials. Service was pretty quick as I didn't need to wait long to get my food. The wonton soup was okay at best but it left a little bit of a bitter aftertaste. The broth was super light in seasoning and the noodles were a little too al dente to my liking but the wontons were pretty good and were the best part of the dish. I got rice noodles with dried shrimp as the side and I enjoyed it more than the wonton soup! The portion size was pretty good especially since it's a side dish and I liked how it wasn't completely drenched in soy sauce. It also came with some hoisin peanut sauce to dip the rice noodles in. Overall, the food just tasted okay but I think I will stick to their other locations.

The food was overall good with many traditional and yummy Chinese food. Additionally, they have fresh seafood on display LIVE which looked very appetizing. The service was ok but took a bit of time. Additionally, the food took about 5-10 minutes which was crazy because of the amount of customers. Finally, it is a bit loud and can be overwhelming sometimes but not too loud. Would come again. ;D

Surprised that it was fairly empty on a Saturday night around 7 p.m. This location offers several items at $11.99, which, all things considered, is an excellent deal. Since it was fairly empty when we stopped by, service was prompt and we got our food in less than 10 minutes. We ordered the salt and pepper tofu, soy sauce fried noodles, wonton noodle soup, egg tofu with fish, and bbq with egg. Taste is definitely consistent with several of the DFCs that I've been (DB, Irvine, MPK, Hacienda Heights). Since I'm a fan of tofu, the salt and pepper tofu was my go-to (crispy on outside and silking on the inside). Interior is clean and spacious. There's a private lot in the back. Definitely a casual place to go if you're hungry and can't make up your mind on what to eat.

Tasty Spot Cafe, formerly Delicious Food Corner, has a new name but keeps the same reliable menu. We're regulars here for breakfast or brunch, drawn by their special set that includes a milk tea, a main like congee or a Western-style option (think eggs and steak), and a side like noodles--all a solid deal. We've been coming almost weekly, and the service has noticeably stepped up with friendlier, faster staff. For lunch or dinner, their special menu offers 10 to 15 dishes for just $12, another great value we often enjoy. Plus, there's a big parking lot out back. A dependable spot!

Love these breakfast places in the 626 area, had to check out another Delicious Food Corner in Arcadia. This location has a nice size parking lot and an over for lot to park in. I ordered the wonton noodle soup and it came with a choice of the butter bun or steam rolls. The wonton noodle soup combo came with three wontons and noodles were nice and bouncy, cooked perfectly. You also can't go wrong with the stream rice rolls, which paired perfectly with the hoisin and peanut sauce. The salt and spicy chicken wing was perfectly fried, flavorful and juicy. Service was great, quick and fast! Ambiance was also great, clean and spacious.

TK Cafe has thoroughly impressed me off first impression, and if I was closer, I'd probably be a regular here. For how much we ordered, the food didn't take too long to come out and genuinely, was so good. We got a lot here, from the garlic shrimp to the popcorn chicken, and so much more. The popcorn chicken was, without a doubt, my favorite item. We originally came here because a friend said they had the best popcorn chicken, and I'd honestly agree. It was crispy but also still a bit juicy and I feel like most places go heavily into the crisp aspect and it ends up just seeming overcooked. But it was a 10/10 here. The proportions are huge, so it's easy to over order. The crab rangoons were good on the portions and crispness and not overly filled with cream cheese which is nice. The noodles were good, pretty average, same with the Mac salad. The garlic shrimp was a bit overly garlic-y, but it was still good. If you're looking for a new Hawaiian spot, definitely check out TK Cafe. The proportions are huge and the taste is amazing. If I'm ever in Monrovia again, I'd definitely be stopping by!

And their beverage menu is extensive as well, from your basic teas to milk tea boba and slushies. It's pretty impressive how these folks are able to squeeze all this food in this tiny little restaurant. Decided to go with the dish that everyone who has been to Hawaii has eaten at some point: the loco moco. I thought it might be a good way to gauge how authentic their food is. Ordered a side of Portuguese sausage musubi as well. Yeah, I'm a pig. Loco Moco - 5/10: so yeah. This definitely isn't your traditional loco moco, or at least the dish that I grew up eating (808 born and raised). Two patties, mounds of rice, eggs (unfortunately served over hard...should always be over easy so the yolk comes out) side mac salad - check, check, check and check. But then they bury on the bottom of this dish a bunch of stir-fried veggies, which threw me off a bit. This dish ain't supposed to be somewhat healthy. And then they throw a very light brown sauce on it that definitely isn't gravy. More like a brown sauce you'd mix in with pan-fried noodles. Yeah, just not the way this dish is supposed to made. But at least they give you a lot of it! - Portuguese Spam Musubi - 7.5/10: this one was much better. All the elements were there, and yes, they used Portuguese sausages. Hard to screw up musubi, but believe me, it can be done. Two pieces come in an order and they're on the larger side. So yeah, a little disappointed. I will say though that if I'm in the area again, I might order some dim sum. Happy feasting!

I recently came back to try their updated $4.88 per dish pricing, and previously visited for their AYCE option ($25.88). Across both visits, most of the dim sum items have stayed consistent in quality, which is a plus. Favorites still include the House Special Crispy Shrimp Roll and the Baked Snow Cap BBQ Pork Bun--both are standout dishes and worth ordering. That said, a few things have slipped. The removal of chili oil was disappointing, and some items (like the XO sauce) still lack depth in flavor. While the food is solid overall, it doesn't quite stand out compared to other dim sum spots at a similar price point. Service has been good each time, especially considering how busy it gets on weekends. The space itself is clean and leans toward a modern, upscale Chinese restaurant vibe, which makes it a comfortable spot for brunch. On the downside, food can take a while to come out, and parking remains a headache--the garage is small and street parking is limited, especially during peak hours. Overall, Bistro 1968 is a decent option for dim sum in a modern setting, but with a few inconsistencies and small letdowns, it lands more in the middle rather than being a standout.

I heard about their AYCE dim sum promo but that actually made me not want to come because I knew the wait would've been very long, and I hate waiting for a table just to eat. Fast forward to tonight and a suggestion was made to try the $14.88 dinner special at Bistro 1968. Here's my honest review of my experience. * Parking - Self parking behind the restaurant. I came on a Monday night dinner time , and there was only 2 cars in the entire lot. The parking lot was very creepy as it was't too well lit. I could see the kitchen from the structure because the backdoor was left opened. There were boxes and junk littered around the area. * You have to walk through a long hallway from the parking lot to get to the restaurant. There are signs to guide you, but if you're going there for the first time, it could be a bit confusing. * We got there at 7pm and there was only 1 table of customers. I honestly don't know how to describe the decor because it depends on which part of restaurant you're looking at. * Staff were all VERY nice. They gave us free dessert (Egg Tarts and Pineapple Buns) so that was awesome. * Food - I ordered the Fried Fish but it wasn't fully cooked. Some parts were still raw so it had a fishy taste. We ate a few pieces but left most of it untouched. Everything else was pretty much okay except for its temperature - it was lukewarm. Nothing was piping hot except for the steamed Pork Spareribs from their all day dim sum menu. * There were some small gnats that kept flying around and when one actually landed in my food, I just stopped eating altogether. * No alcohol available but definitely not a huge deal. Their staff are so nice that I actually feel bad about not writing a positive review about the establishment, but I really just don't see how I am able to rate it any higher than 2 stars. I don't think I will be coming back.
