Yay! A hotpot spot that's local to me! I've been coming to this place since they soft opened a few years ago. I love hotpot/soup and eating hotpot from this place has always hit the spot. Little FYI by the way - Just recently, this location switched their dining style/format to AYCE which I think is a really nice and welcome change. You mean I can eat even more? Say less. I also recommend this place to people that haven't tried hotpot yet. Staff are really attentive and helpful. Caution before you visit! The restaurant's reel advertises "$22.95/$23 All You Can Eat" and emphasize unlimited skewers and other appetizers. However, it does not disclose that there are two different AYCE tiers. If you're expecting to receive the skewers and other appetizers shown in the promotion, you'll actually need to order the $28.95 GOLD option. I couldn't find any explanation of these two tiers anywhere on their Instagram page. I also noticed someone asked about the AYCE prices in the comments, and the restaurant replied: "$22.95 for lunch & $28.95 for dinner with unlimited meat, appetizers and our signature rice bowl." That response still doesn't explain that there are different menu tiers or that the skewers and some of the items shown in the promotion are not included in the lower-priced option. I personally found the promotion misleading because it gave me the impression that the advertised items were included with the $22.95/$23 AYCE. I've been here twice now, and my first visit was on Mother's Day. I must say, this place is fantastic! I ordered the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup, and the portion was generous enough for two people to share comfortably. The hot pot itself reminded me of Taiwan, bringing back memories with its authentic flavors and comforting taste. While I wasn't a huge fan of the takoyaki, everything else more than made up for it. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and very welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal and unwind. We were craving hot pot but didn't wanna spend an arm and a leg at an ayce shabu. Thank god for northridge and tasty pot! The decor inside is super cute and very on theme. Great selection of sauces (my bf loved the satay and the soy garlic hit home for me), really great attentive service even tho u could tell the server was the only one working the floor. We shared the tomato hotpot and calamari. They were both sooo good. Love the spicy salt on the calamari. Maybe bc we have smaller appetites but we found the serving size perfect. Tasty Pot at Northridge in the San Fernando Valley is a great spot for hot pots. We've eaten at Tasty Pot twice and both visits the staff provided excellent customer service. They are consistent with providing great care and excellent customer service to their diners. They are also one of the few restaurants that label their menu with ingredients and allergy information. We love to frequent restaurants that provide both excellent customer service and cater to families with food allergies. We ordered the Cheesy Milk Hot Soup, Curry, Hot Soup, Beef Hot Soup, Tomato Hot Soup and Fried Calamari. Delicious, plentiful and flavorful hot pots with lots of beef, shrimp, scallops, crabs and vegetables along with muscles. Tasty Pot did not disappoint. Their Fried Calamari is also good, crispy and crunchy. We also appreciated the fact that their base soups vary and you have the option to choose none peanut and non sesame broth soups especially if you're a family with food allergies. Super tasty broth options!!! Menu shows the pricing on the top right of the sheets and they also vary depending on lunch period or dinner period. Lunch pricing is until 4PM I believe. I like that the menu also easily shows if there's nuts included in the dish!!! Usually pretty slow when we come in, so the server is very attentive and is easy to grab the attention of. Perfect for when it's cold outside and I think it's a good spot to go to. Parking lot has plenty of free parking usually but there's a lot of businesses in the area. I only wish the shrimp and the crabs is de-shelled already so it would be easier to eat. Plenty of ingredients are put in the soup and gives a good hearty meal. read more

Another thing, I do like about this place is that I am able to turn the flame off myself lol. The food here was all right. The service was good but our servers seemed a bit out of it. One server dropped our utensils and my husband's spoon broke and the next server spilled boiling soup on our table. They were nice about it and apologized but I thought that was interesting. Perhaps they were tired. The soup was pretty bland. Nothing special. The takoyaki was lukewarm when it arrived and the popcorn chicken could have been crispier. The condiments were delicious though. This building was previously a Sichuan restaurant, though with new owners they now serve up individualized portions of hot pot. Four of us stopped by to warm up from all the chilly weather. It was fairly empty around lunchtime, and it was fairly quiet inside. We all ordered the Taiwanese Supreme, since they are listed as a Taiwanese restaurant, and also since the name was rather striking. Within about ten minutes, the pots were carted out and ready to dig in. You get a huge portion, and they pack a heck of a lot of ingredients, all laid out in the detail on their menus. For the Taiwanese Supreme, here's what inside: Taiwanese cabbage, instant noodle, beef slices, beef tendon, enoki mushroom, tempura, clam, Fuzhou fishball, cuttlefish ring, pork blood rice cake, pork intestine, fried tofu skin, brown beech mushroom, tofu, imitation crabmeat, meatball, sour mustard, fried tofu puff, cilantro, and scallion, all in a pork broth. I'd say they pile on a good amount of everything. For this selection during lunch, it's currently $23.45. It was the perfect amount of food with lots of interesting flavors and texture in every bite. Next time, I'd like to try some of their others like the Japanese Miso or Thai Soup. Words cannot express how happy I am that they opened a Tasty Pot location in Northridge! As a Boiling Point fan, it's hard to find an equivalent in the valley and it has been years since I've lived in Irvine so I was definitely craving something similar. I saw that this location was open until 10 PM and was pleasantly surprised that there was NO WAIT on a Thursday evening at 8 PM. BP could literally never. The staff was sweet and I placed my order via QR code on the table. They have 4 different sauces/spices on the table and I always opt for soy garlic which was the right balance of sweetness. The beef pot is my favorite and it also has pretty much the same ingredients in it. HOWEVER, Tasty Pot has a HEAPING serving of beef in comparison to Boiling Point which means you're getting more bang for your buck. The pot comes with its own sterno that you can turn off if it gets too hot and the server will come to your table from time to time to top you up with more broth if you would like. The pot was overflowing and happy with the assortment of beef, fish cake, clams, napa cabbage and corn. It came with a pork broth with tolerable saltiness level. It came with vermicelli noodles and rice. This regular size was enough for 2 people that are not too hungry. But if you are hungry, 1 pot is good for 1 person. I ordered the #7 kimchi dumpling hot soup, which came with, roughly the entire Pacific Ocean and half a farm inside it. Pork slices? Check. Shrimp? check. Clams? Check. An anxious flooding around an existential confusion? Also check. Honestly, it felt less like a meal and more like an episode of wears Waldo, except Waldo was a vermicelli noodle trying not to drown in kimchi bone broth. The soup itself? Spicy, savory, and hot enough to sear away any bad decisions you made during freshman year. I picked beef, mild and since my pot came with vermicelli I picked rice. The bowl of rice came out with another empty bowl underneath. The rice was a little hard and not a soft sticky rice like at a Japanese restaurant. Then the hot pot came out. I wasn't told there was a lever to adjust the heat. My bowl was bubbling the entire time. On the table were chopsticks and a long ladle type spoon. Do I eat out of the hot pot? Do I put it on my rice? I put the food in my empty bowl. Why did they come by twice to offer more broth? If I'm supposed to drink the broth how come I wasn't given a soup spoon? Do I use the long ladle to drink the broth? I could have asked the server but I didn't want to sound stupid. There was a lazy Susan style of sauces. 4 different sauce. I didn't bother adding anything my mild was flavorful enough. I like that there is an option to substitute the base should the desired offering have nuts. Though a tiny pit pricy, there is a large portion of meat, cabbage, and some fun dumpling/seafood items as well. I wish there were more vermicelli noodles, but the other items make up for it. And it comes piping hot! Like drove 30 minutes and still had to blow on it when I got home hot. The chrysanthemum tea is delicious and balanced. If the owner reads the reviews, I do suggest offering a sleeve/double cup and a stopper as it comes super-hot (200 degrees?) and it was hard for me to hold. Super cute aesthetic with these large booths and a pretty ceiling. I appreciated the simple yet nice decor. We were led to our booth and instructed to either order through the QR code on the table or with a server, whatever the preference. How to order: pick your base selection, your spice level and whether you want rice or vermicelli. Easy enough. The server also came out with some water and soon enough our orders came. The pots are housed in the typical personal hotpots with the flame thingy (that's the formal term :-D ). I ordered the Veggie with a Thai broth. It was loaded with plenty of vegetables it promised to provide with a tangy sour broth very similar to Filipino sinigang (just for reference with the IYKYK crowd). I enjoyed it and it was light enough that I didn't get a heavy feeling afterward even though I clean-plated it. I chose the vermicelli option, but I do wish they provided more of it. It just felt like such a tiny portion of noodles. Also, shout-out to the server who clocked that my Youngest (he's a young adult, not a child) dropped one of his chopsticks and before we even needed to ask, he just came to our table with a fresh set of chopsticks. Tasty Pot - Northridge is my 2nd in that chain after Alhambra, I haven to say both chains are similar but Tasty Pot needs improvement in two areas: for beef pot the beef is too little, even if it tried to spread it throughout the pot, and then the other ingredients are insufficient. I counted two each of little clams and imitated crabs, bits of beef balls, a slice of tomato and small tofu, there maybe others but in a word that they are all small. Even with my choice of rice over glass noodle, I still felt a bit not full. The soup flavor is good though, and the environment is decent and comfortable. read more

I've already noticed it before but today it felt like it has really gotten less for the price of $1.95 each. We were seated right away and it was not busy, the restaurant is big with many tables and booths. I got the curry soup, it comes with rice noodles and is bubbling hot upon arrival. I really liked the egg and waited until it was cooked to my liking to eat it. There was also a good balance of veggies and meats in the soup which I appreciated. I also got a taro tea which was super creamy. Everything was delicious. I did expect the soup to be a little spicier (I got medium spice) but it was otherwise really yummy. We will definitely come back and I am eager to try more of their soups next time. read more
