How can a business with great and unique food and good workers get 1 star and If I could give it 0 i would? Here is how: I have been coming to this place since it soft opened late 2023. Over the years, the place has a good customer base for good reason. The issue is that they are ALWAYS understaffed. Don't let the hiring sign on their door fool you. Owership intentionally understaffs even when they have people hired to cut cost. They are so understaffed that customers wait over an hour on average to be seated during typical dining hours on WEEKENDS with half the restaurant seating capacity available and unused. Then ordering, the staff is so busy that they do not take in restaurant orders and ask the people seated in the restaurant to place online orders for pickup which also forces you 5o pay gratuity upfront unless you carey cash which most people no logner do then take their receipt to the cashier. Then you have the issue of this rule being selectively enforced. The staff seems to pick and choose who is forced into placing an order online vs who is not. Today we arrived at the restaurant around 6:20pm. Despite half empty, we were seated around 7:45. 10 minutes later of not being aknowledged, i wave a familaor face and he tells me that it would likely be faster if we place the order online. The order was placed by 7:57. it should order compelte by 8:28 but by 8:38 our food had not arrived. i get frustrated and ask what seemed to be staff that was already frustrated where the food is and before i even get to the part that it shows online our food was already served, he tells me: Dude, we are really busy. it will come out when its ready. a few minutes later the food came out and i asked the person bringing the food who us the manager. he said he was and i told him the situation. he took full accountability and even offered a refund saying he recognized we were regulars. i said i recognized him too and said I will not accept a refund. It is not fair to make food for people and not get paid but I told him that that someone whether it was him, the manager before he took over the shift, or ownership is accountable. This type of experience and standard of service is horrible for a business. He kept apologizing snd isnisted on a refund to his credit. I refused but thanked him for the courtesy. I made sure that above all, respect for customers should be prioritized when other service variables fall short. its the one thing that can mitigate this type of feedback and the one person that tipped this in the wrong direction leading to this review was the last straw that broke the camels back. But to be clear this is not a one incident occurence. This is the third and likely final time I come to Tasty Pot. read more

We were craving hot pot but didn't wanna spend an arm and a leg at an ayce shabu. Thank god for northridge and tasty pot! The decor inside is super cute and very on theme. Great selection of sauces (my bf loved the satay and the soy garlic hit home for me), really great attentive service even tho u could tell the server was the only one working the floor. We shared the tomato hotpot and calamari. They were both sooo good. Love the spicy salt on the calamari. Maybe bc we have smaller appetites but we found the serving size perfect. Delicious, plentiful and flavorful hot pots with lots of beef, shrimp, scallops, crabs and vegetables along with muscles. Tasty Pot did not disappoint. Super tasty broth options!!! Menu shows the pricing on the top right of the sheets and they also vary depending on lunch period or dinner period. Lunch pricing is until 4PM I believe. I like that the menu also easily shows if there's nuts included in the dish!!! Usually pretty slow when we come in, so the server is very attentive and is easy to grab the attention of. Perfect for when it's cold outside and I think it's a good spot to go to. Parking lot has plenty of free parking usually but there's a lot of businesses in the area. It was fairly empty around lunchtime, and it was fairly quiet inside. We all ordered the Taiwanese Supreme, since they are listed as a Taiwanese restaurant, and also since the name was rather striking. Within about ten minutes, the pots were carted out and ready to dig in. You get a huge portion, and they pack a heck of a lot of ingredients, all laid out in the detail on their menus. For the Taiwanese Supreme, here's what inside: Taiwanese cabbage, instant noodle, beef slices, beef tendon, enoki mushroom, tempura, clam, Fuzhou fishball, cuttlefish ring, pork blood rice cake, pork intestine, fried tofu skin, brown beech mushroom, tofu, imitation crabmeat, meatball, sour mustard, fried tofu puff, cilantro, and scallion, all in a pork broth. I'd say they pile on a good amount of everything. For this selection during lunch, it's currently $23.45. It was the perfect amount of food with lots of interesting flavors and texture in every bite. The staff was sweet and I placed my order via QR code on the table. They have 4 different sauces/spices on the table and I always opt for soy garlic which was the right balance of sweetness. The beef pot is my favorite and it also has pretty much the same ingredients in it. HOWEVER, Tasty Pot has a HEAPING serving of beef in comparison to Boiling Point which means you're getting more bang for your buck. The pot comes with its own sterno that you can turn off if it gets too hot and the server will come to your table from time to time to top you up with more broth if you would like. It was a Thursday night just before closing, the kind of time when normal people are brushing their teeth and regretting their life choices, but I was a block away from CSUN, standing in front of tasty pot - because apparently, I believe in late night hot pot soup on a hot summer night. Walking in, I was greeted by decor that screamed welcome to Taiwan. Until you scratch the surface and realize the whole operation actually started in San Francisco. Which technically is kind of Taiwan adjacent if you squint, eat some Kim chi, dumpling, hot soup, and suspend disbelief. I ordered the #7 kimchi dumpling hot soup, which came with, roughly the entire Pacific Ocean and half a farm inside it. Pork slices? Check. Shrimp? check. Clams? Check. An anxious flooding around an existential confusion? Also check. Honestly, it felt less like a meal and more like an episode of wears Waldo, except Waldo was a vermicelli noodle trying not to drown in kimchi bone broth. The soup itself? Spicy, savory, and hot enough to sear away any bad decisions you made during freshman year. The flavors were layered like, I could almost taste the corporate tagline whispering "real meat, bones, cabbage, and seasoning imported from Taiwan, Los Angeles, San Gabriel adjacent." Which saves the fair amount of on the gas bill if you're in the San Fernando Valley. They're not wrong - I left feeling alive, full, and mildly sweaty. So yes, tasty pot is authentic, San Francisco Taiwanese authenticity. A place where you're a soup has more supporting characters than a marvel movie, your broth is scolding enough to file a lawsuit, and your late night cravings fully meet their chaotic match. My bowl was bubbling the entire time. On the table were chopsticks and a long ladle type spoon. Do I eat out of the hot pot? Do I put it on my rice? I put the food in my empty bowl. Why did they come by twice to offer more broth? If I'm supposed to drink the broth how come I wasn't given a soup spoon? Do I use the long ladle to drink the broth? I counted two each of little clams and imitated crabs, bits of beef balls, a slice of tomato and small tofu, there maybe others but in a word that they are all small. I like that there is an option to substitute the base should the desired offering have nuts. Super cute aesthetic with these large booths and a pretty ceiling. I appreciated the simple yet nice decor. We were led to our booth and instructed to either order through the QR code on the table or with a server, whatever the preference. How to order: pick your base selection, your spice level and whether you want rice or vermicelli. Easy enough. The server also came out with some water and soon enough our orders came. The pots are housed in the typical personal hotpots with the flame thingy (that's the formal term :-D ). I ordered the Veggie with a Thai broth. It was loaded with plenty of vegetables it promised to provide with a tangy sour broth very similar to Filipino sinigang (just for reference with the IYKYK crowd). I enjoyed it and it was light enough that I didn't get a heavy feeling afterward even though I clean-plated it. I chose the vermicelli option, but I do wish they provided more of it. It just felt like such a tiny portion of noodles. Also, shout-out to the server who clocked that my Youngest (he's a young adult, not a child) dropped one of his chopsticks and before we even needed to ask, he just came to our table with a fresh set of chopsticks. We were seated right away and it was not busy, the restaurant is big with many tables and booths. I got the curry soup, it comes with rice noodles and is bubbling hot upon arrival. I really liked the egg and waited until it was cooked to my liking to eat it. There was also a good balance of veggies and meats in the soup which I appreciated. Been here about a handful of times and this place never disappoints! I always leave satisfied and happy. I've come in every shift and it doesn't get too packed. i never had to wait. they do give complimentary iced teas during lunch and it is the best tea ever! beef hot pot never disappoints and they are open to any modifications! most of their dishes include a handful of seafood but if that's not your cup of tea, they can remove it. they have a pretty big parking lot shared with a lot of other food vendors so it can be full sometimes. the place is spacious and clean and hrs a booth setting :) read more

I'm really happy to have this place here. The restaurant is really clean and the servers are nice. We ordered Cheesy Milk and Beef. The broths were so flavorful and serving is good for one person. They do have "larger" options which might be good for sharing with another person. We also ordered their Fried Popcorn Chicken, which was surprisingly good! Honestly, you can't go wrong with their food here. They definitely named their restaurant perfectly as I find that anything I order here is very tasty! I highly recommend! read more
