Yay! A hotpot spot that's local to me! I've been coming to this place since they soft opened a few years ago. I love hotpot/soup and eating hotpot from this place has always hit the spot. Little FYI by the way - Just recently, this location switched their dining style/format to AYCE which I think is a really nice and welcome change. You mean I can eat even more? Say less. I also recommend this place to people that haven't tried hotpot yet. Staff are really attentive and helpful. If you're new to this kind of cuisine/restaurant, just let the staff know and they will gladly assist you on how it all goes. My boyfriend and I used to be regulars here, so it pains me to write this. We miss the old menu style. They changed their menu to AYCE with unlimited veggies & add ons. They have different tiers for the meats. We got the most expensive one, and the meats were super fatty and tough. Also I know this is preference, but the cuts were waaay too big. You don't have scissors or anything to cut the meat smaller so it's awkward taking bites of a big chunk of meat. When the broth got brought to our table, it was cold and they had forgotten to add the flammable gel to it. Even after warming it up for us, it took forever to reach a boil Mind you, the pots don't have a way to adjust the temperature. Once the flame goes out, you need to ask them to light it again. The servers were so busy with other tables that they didn't check up on us. We got unlimited appetizers with our tier of meat, we got the popcorn chicken and it was okay. Like other reviews have said, I don't know where all these positive reviews are coming from. I'm assuming they're buying them or asking family or friends to write them. Was underwhelmed by my visit here, though perhaps I ordered the wrong pot. Came here for Father's Day lunch since they were offering $0.99 appetizers all weekend. When my party of 3 arrived around 11:30 am, it was pretty empty with one other party seated. For apps, we got the popcorn chicken and calamari. Both were fantastic, perhaps a tiny bit salty but overall the flavor was good. I shared the seafood lobster pot ($24.95) with my dad and we were both underwhelmed. There wasn't much seafood in the pot, instead it was full of veggies like napa cabbage and mushrooms. Other than the lobster tail, all the other seafood came in two's, like two small shrimp, two fishballs, two thin slices of fish, etc. They say this is a large size pot meant for sharing, but there's no way this can feed two people. Thank goodness we ordered appetizers to supplement, otherwise I would have left hungry. My friend ordered the veggie pot with tomato soup for $19.95 and really enjoyed his pot. read more

Variety with the veggies and fish cakes can use some work, but all of the necessary ones are there. Meat options are limited on silver with better cuts on the gold tier. Variety of appetizers are also decent with Mala skewers, fries, calamari, dumplings, takoyaki, and rice bowls. Sauce station is lacking sesame oil but does have sesame sauce. Great selection of sauces (my bf loved the satay and the soy garlic hit home for me), really great attentive service even tho u could tell the server was the only one working the floor. We shared the tomato hotpot and calamari. They were both sooo good. Love the spicy salt on the calamari. Maybe bc we have smaller appetites but we found the serving size perfect. Tasty Pot at Northridge in the San Fernando Valley is a great spot for hot pots. We've eaten at Tasty Pot twice and both visits the staff provided excellent customer service. They are consistent with providing great care and excellent customer service to their diners. They are also one of the few restaurants that label their menu with ingredients and allergy information. We love to frequent restaurants that provide both excellent customer service and cater to families with food allergies. We ordered the Cheesy Milk Hot Soup, Curry, Hot Soup, Beef Hot Soup, Tomato Hot Soup and Fried Calamari. Delicious, plentiful and flavorful hot pots with lots of beef, shrimp, scallops, crabs and vegetables along with muscles. Tasty Pot did not disappoint. Their Fried Calamari is also good, crispy and crunchy. We also appreciated the fact that their base soups vary and you have the option to choose none peanut and non sesame broth soups especially if you're a family with food allergies. Caution before you visit! The restaurant's reel advertises "$22.95/$23 All You Can Eat" and emphasize unlimited skewers and other appetizers. However, it does not disclose that there are two different AYCE tiers. If you're expecting to receive the skewers and other appetizers shown in the promotion, you'll actually need to order the $28.95 GOLD option. I couldn't find any explanation of these two tiers anywhere on their Instagram page. I also noticed someone asked about the AYCE prices in the comments, and the restaurant replied: "$22.95 for lunch & $28.95 for dinner with unlimited meat, appetizers and our signature rice bowl." That response still doesn't explain that there are different menu tiers or that the skewers and some of the items shown in the promotion are not included in the lower-priced option. I personally found the promotion misleading because it gave me the impression that the advertised items were included with the $22.95/$23 AYCE. I am grateful for being let in and have our meal/drink options. We chose premium meal option and was delicious! I like that the menu also easily shows if there's nuts included in the dish!!! Usually pretty slow when we come in, so the server is very attentive and is easy to grab the attention of. Perfect for when it's cold outside and I think it's a good spot to go to. Parking lot has plenty of free parking usually but there's a lot of businesses in the area. This building was previously a Sichuan restaurant, though with new owners they now serve up individualized portions of hot pot. Four of us stopped by to warm up from all the chilly weather. It was fairly empty around lunchtime, and it was fairly quiet inside. We all ordered the Taiwanese Supreme, since they are listed as a Taiwanese restaurant, and also since the name was rather striking. Within about ten minutes, the pots were carted out and ready to dig in. You get a huge portion, and they pack a heck of a lot of ingredients, all laid out in the detail on their menus. For the Taiwanese Supreme, here's what inside: Taiwanese cabbage, instant noodle, beef slices, beef tendon, enoki mushroom, tempura, clam, Fuzhou fishball, cuttlefish ring, pork blood rice cake, pork intestine, fried tofu skin, brown beech mushroom, tofu, imitation crabmeat, meatball, sour mustard, fried tofu puff, cilantro, and scallion, all in a pork broth. I'd say they pile on a good amount of everything. For this selection during lunch, it's currently $23.45. It was the perfect amount of food with lots of interesting flavors and texture in every bite. Next time, I'd like to try some of their others like the Japanese Miso or Thai Soup. This is one of my go-to hot pot places in the area. It's so similar to Boiling Point. The flavor profile is there and the amount of food is comparable. I ordered the beef hot pot in a regular size and was able to finish it. The beef or the Taiwanese hot pot are my go-to flavors. I love that it comes with green tea or black tea as well. Another thing, I do like about this place is that I am able to turn the flame off myself lol. I hate when my hot pot continues to boil and makes it too hot for me to eat so being able to turn the flame off myself is super convenient. It was my first time at this tasty pot . I've been to shabu shabu and some in little Tokyo . My server made a mistake with our broth flavor and accidentally put it on my friend's side . When I asked to switch pots he acted like I was sending it back and was very upset . It felt uncomfortable to even ask to be helped !!! A new table came next to us and the broth spilled all over him . Mind you broth is boiling ! I think the different is that the hot pot it not built into the table but it is on a wooden top on top of the table . It doesn't have options to lower heat. Words cannot express how happy I am that they opened a Tasty Pot location in Northridge! As a Boiling Point fan, it's hard to find an equivalent in the valley and it has been years since I've lived in Irvine so I was definitely craving something similar. I saw that this location was open until 10 PM and was pleasantly surprised that there was NO WAIT on a Thursday evening at 8 PM. BP could literally never. The staff was sweet and I placed my order via QR code on the table. They have 4 different sauces/spices on the table and I always opt for soy garlic which was the right balance of sweetness. The beef pot is my favorite and it also has pretty much the same ingredients in it. HOWEVER, Tasty Pot has a HEAPING serving of beef in comparison to Boiling Point which means you're getting more bang for your buck. The pot comes with its own sterno that you can turn off if it gets too hot and the server will come to your table from time to time to top you up with more broth if you would like.
