Went here last Sunday afternoon- I wanted some Filipino food to-go and I've never been to this place. I ordered the chicken inasal - Paa (which is the thigh and leg parts of the chicken). I also ordered Batchoy. I sat on the side and my order probably took about 10+ min so it wasn't a big deal to order and wait. If you decide to dine in- it's a no frills place. I see a lot of groups dining but they only have a few tables. I got home and was pleasantly surprised that the chicken was 2 pieces of the quarter leg. I really liked the chicken, properly marinated and cooked well on the grill. The dipping sauce and calamnsi add more flavor. The batchoy was also good and not salty compared to other places I've been that sell batchoy. Solid place for Bacolod chicken. Just be sure to wrap and secure tour togo order for soup. Wow. As a half Filipino, I've maybe had two places that served decent Filipino food. This is one of them and on the higher end of the spectrum. I've only had the lumpia shanghai, veggie lumpia and pancit bihon. The veggie lumpia, could be better, but I'm also spoiled by home cooking with grandparents my entire life, so I have my bias. The pancit bihon (glass noodle) was pretty much the exact style my family makes, perfectly seasoned, excellent ratio of ingredients, wish there was Chinese sausage however. I gobbled up my portion today and had to write a review because of how masarap everything was. The lumpia shanghai was perfect, freshly made, you can tell everything here is prepared on the spot. So don't be a in a rush! I would have given 5 stars but they forgot my shrimp in the pancit today :/ It's ok, I'll be back and maybe grab a tray of lumpia for my kids birthday soon! I look forward to coming back and trying more here. If you're not a Filipino, this is the place to go to where the food will be proper representation of good Filipino food! Service was fairly quick, they were busy when we got there and we got the last table. Skip the beef tapa. It was VERY dry and no taste. Vinegar or soy sauce didnt help. No sauce would help this dish. Even the texture was weird. Pork belly had a nice flavor and with the binegar tasted good. Meat was tender. Chicken inasal is ok. Nothing special, tasted better elsewhere. Sisig was food, fatty good. Make sure you smash that chili and mix it well. One of the staff had an attitude and started arguing with a customer. She reacted to something the lady was saying thinking she was talking about her then realized she wasnt talking to her. Good thing she ended up apologizing. Wow, what a great place in the valley. I was very satisfied with the chicken inasal. The skin was crisp and delicious yet the meat was still juicy and tender. I ordered a batchoy soup on the side and it had generous servings of pork and noodles in a delicious savory broth. The lumpia's were ok, the batchoy was pretty good with decent amounts of meat and liver, and I'm glad I got the pork skewers! I really had hopes with this one because I love grilled chicken. We ordered the Chicken Inasal (Chicken breast) and Liempo. We had to wait 15 mins for our orders to be ready. Chicken Inasal has generous portions. However, the chicken didn't have any distinctive taste even with soy sauce and calamansi. I give this place 5/ 5 no doubt. We have been ordering here often times with DoorDash and i thought might as well check this physical location. It is a small hidden location and parking is limited including street parking. But it was all worth it. This visit did not disappoint. Hospitality was great 5/5. The flavor of each dish we ordered was 5/5. I'm blown away the savory and consistency of their food. Inside is not as wide, they have comfortable tables and chairs, well lighted and home chill atmosphere. They deserve a visit and expand this place. I got the chance to meet the amazing chef that blessed the food with her magical touch. And I also met the owner and thank them both for the amazing food and service. Food was ok. I liked the taste of their Laing, but I thought it needed to be a little soupy, it was kinda dry, maybe because it was already cooked and just heated up. The lumpia taste like lumpia, and the chicken? Well it taste like it was also heated up in the grill. The price of the bill? A little pricey (came out to $60.00 for 2 plates, lumpia, and Laing, with 2 drinks) I must say, nothing to make me want to come back. We were just in the area and I was craving Filipino food. Oh and be careful if you're using credit or debit, they charge 4%, in our case, it was charged twice and they gave us back $3. I don't think they do a great job explaining that you'll be charged extra for using a card. People were eating when we arrived. It was simple, nothing extra, and cleanish. No frills dining for $62.00, dining for 2. Also, when we were there, the father from the other family was there walked out mad because they bought dessert or something else and was charged that 4% again. One of my regular spots in the San Fernando Valley, this is one of the best Filipino restaurants in the area. The pechopak and inasal are so sarap! Add the chicken oil, it's essential. For first time goers, the peppers are really spicy but are always optional as they are on the side, they also offer desserts such as Halo Halo and Ube Crinkle cookies, but I would say the best thing for sure is the paa, it's crispy, not dry, and very delicious. I know this review is so biased because I'm from the same hometown where the authentic Bacolod chicken inasal hails from, and so is the owner of this phenomenal food joint. And coming from someone who grew up eating this and hasn't been home. Flying 3,000 miles is a place to go for those memories of authenticity, and it is worth it. This time, I had the pancit canton, longsilog, and salpicao. The pancit canton has so much flavor with crisp veggies. Longsilog is comfort food that takes me back to 25 years ago with perfectly cooked over-easy eggs, sweet and savory sausage, atchara ( pickled green papaya), and the beef salpicao is addictive paired with garlic rice. Trust me, you'll keep coming back for it; it's indulgent that when you start, you can't stop. Laing was added recently and it's extraordinary, just be prepared to eat extra rice. They are consistent when it comes to flavor, and the service, attention, and hospitality is typical of a Filipino household. Coming here is like eating at Lola's (grandma's) house. IYKYK. I finally gave this place a try today. I waited some months to avoid the long lines from when they first opened last year. I tried speaking Tagalog to the young lady running their register, but had to quickly switch to English when she couldn't understand me. She was friendly and courteous though, and quickly took my order of one Paa Combo (chicken leg quarter) one pork BBQ skewer, and a soda. My total came to $19.50 + $1.85 tax and $0.78 credit card service charge. You order and pay at the register, then have a seat. The place looked clean and inviting. They provide plastic gloves for customers that want to eat chicken with their hands. My food took about ten minutes to prepare and deliver to my table. The chicken was accompanied by small containers of chicken oil, atchara (pickled green papaya), and with a hot pepper and lemon slice. I made my sauce the way I see most people do it... I cut up the pepper with my utensils, put it in the container, added a squeeze of lemon, then some vinegar and soy sauce from the condiment tray on the table. Then I drizzled the chicken oil over the rice, and finally I tucked into my meal. The chicken had nice crispy skin and was not dried out. It had a good taste, but to me, it's not complete without a little sauce for it. The atchara was delicious, and was a good accompaniment for the rice and chicken. Pork BBQ was likewise very tasty, without any big chunks of pork fat like you would see at some other places. It's difficult for me to give a rating for the food here. I just returned from the Philippines a few weeks ago, where I tried Mang Inasal and JT's Manukan for the first time, and I can't help but compare this place to those two. Chicken in the U.S. seems to have more meat, but the chicken in the Philippines seems to be more flavorful. That being said, I prefer Mang Inasal or JT's over the chicken here. Mang Inasal was 8.4/10 for me, while JT's was 8.8/10. So I would probably have to give the food here a score of 7.8/10. read more
