Lumpia gulay with black?? veggies and a moist center
Dory A.

PhilHouse, like any turo turo food place, is a hit or miss. Its always best to order during opening times and rush hours, because that's when they are made fresh! I've ordered here a few times before, and it was just okay. Always oily, always tasty. I came for dinner today around 6pm for a few things. I ordered 2 pcs chicken bbq, 2 pcs lumpia gulay and 4 pcs turon. The bbq was good, a little fatty but good enough meat. The turon was delicious as always, but the lumpia gulay was not edible. There was black? veggies inside, and in the middle was wet and moist - lumpias have to be crunchy! They most likely premade them, and froze them a long time ago. And by the looks of it, it must have been a LONG time ago lol.

Turo Turo style ordering. Point to what you want, the size and they pack it up for you.
Vijay C.

Surprised actually I've never reviewed PhilHouse given I've ordered food from here many times but I suppose I kept lumping it together with Island Pacific since it is located inside the supermarket. PhilHouse is located to the right as soon as you walk in and you can see the available food through the glass. It's called Turo Turo style ordering where you point to what you want and the employee will ask what size and then pack it up for you and you pay with the cashier at the end. It's basically Panda Express for a comp. My favorites are the ukoy, eggplant torta, lumpia Shanghai, kare kare and pork sisig. It can get a bit pricey if you order a lot and especially get large sizes but the quantity is def worth it. Great for any fan of Filipino food.

Not the biggest cup of fruit salad for $7 and not even full?
Duv O.

$7 for a crappy cup of fruit salad? This cup is more expensive than a large boba. This place has gotten worse and taking advantage of people during this pandemic by jerking up their prices high. My brother was right, I'm better off buying food at house of grill or in Barrio fiesta in Granada Hills. All of my family members no longer buys to-go food in this overpriced sh** place. But if you like to get ripped in your wallets. Pls go ahead and enjoy while their burn your wallet.

I got these chiles from this store on a Monday and when I got home and opened it, it was all nasty and moldy. I live out in Ventura county and couldn't return the item on Tuesday (24 hrs) but I did on Wednesday. You would think they would return your money for an item that was already bad but no. The cashier just told me he couldn't do anything about it since I missed the 24 hr deadline for perishable items stated on the receipt. I totally get it but this was already a bad product. I ended up leaving the product with the cashier.

Too expensive for recycled food. LA county should check their price. No price control at all.

The star of the show, of course, is their chicken inasal perfectly marinated, incredibly juicy, and grilled to smoky perfection. Every bite was packed with authentic flavor, especially when paired with their garlic rice and dipping sauces. I also have to mention their bangus steak, which was absolutely delicious. It was cooked just right, tender, flavorful, and balanced with that signature tangy-savory profile that makes it so satisfying. It's definitely something I've kept ordering again & again. I actually order from them frequently through DoorDash for home delivery, which is always convenient and tasty, but dining in person is a whole different experience. The restaurant itself is very clean, welcoming, and has a warm, homey feel that really adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal. What really sets this place apart is the authenticity. You can tell they stay true to traditional Filipino cooking methods, and it shows in both the taste and presentation. The portions are generous, and everything came out fresh and hot. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome the entire time. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, making it a great spot whether you're grabbing a quick meal or sitting down with family and friends. If you're craving real Filipino comfort food, this place is a must visit. I'll definitely be coming back for more! 10/10

We came to visit the San Fernando Valley, and my aunt was on a mission to find the best hopia with lots of variety -- and wow, did this place deliver. They have all the classic favorites: ube, mongo, baboy, yema, pandan -- and every single one was absolutely delectable. Each piece of hopia feels like it was made with love. The texture is just right, the fillings are generous, and the flavors are rich without being overly sweet. You can truly taste the quality. Their bibingka galapong with cream cheese is another must-try -- warm, creamy, freshly made, and incredibly comforting. It's the kind of treat that makes you close your eyes for a second just to savor it. And then... I saw Jerry coming out with freshly made chicharon -- both with laman and without. Oh boy! I immediately ordered a packet. Crispy, flavorful, and perfect to pair with vegetables or just snack on by itself. The place is clean, well-organized, and they even offer catering. Pricing is very reasonable for the quality you're getting. Plus, they offer website ordering, so you can send hopia and other goodies to family anywhere in the United States. Hopia, bibingka, and chicharon here are definitely a must-try. If you're anywhere near Winnetka, don't miss this spot -- you'll leave happy and probably with a box (or two) in hand!

I don't live nearby, but I was craving Filipino food. So I bit the bullet and ordered through Doordash, even though it cost me what a full tank of gas costs me. But the inconsistencies have to be mentioned once and for all, so that you can use it to improve. First off, does somebody not taste the food when cooking? Look at my photos and see how gorgeous the food appears. But the palabok had no taste, except for bad taste. As in, no flavoring. Did the cook forget to add the most important ingredients and seasonings? And then there's the tocilog. Everything was perfect; except for the tocino, which is the superstar of the combo?? It tasted old and gamey. What went wrong? I don't know. I'm being generous with the 3-stars, because I am hoping this is just another one-off. However, more than one one-off is no longer a one-off. It's your business practices. Please help me give you a better rating, I know that when your food is good, it's really good. But you need to be consistent. It only takes one visit for a first-timer to never return. As well as for a repeat customer who knows they have other options. I just spent $50 on two dishes that I can't even eat, and I'm not being dramatic. Read my reviews and see that I'm usually generous with my reviews. But I'd like for you to continue to thrive. Good luck and please don't hate me!

I say "dependable" because they serve up the typical Filipino favorites, including breakfast combos. My usual faves are Bicol Express, any of their Adobos, Menudo, Mongo, Pork Sisig, any of their breakfast combos, Tortang Talong, Lyempo, Kare Kare, and Lechon Kawali. We don't have many options in this neighborhood, so we are fortunate that the one Filipino restaurant we have nearby is actually really good. And they are consistent! Something other Filipino restaurants tend to struggle with is consistency. This is why they are our dependable Filipino restaurant. And I hope they stay forever. I had just finished a short hike at Wilbur Tampa Park Trailhead and had built up a solid appetite. I noticed this place on the drive up and made a mental note to try it--and post-hike felt like the perfect time. Kusina Ni Kuya is located right next to Cajun Ni Kuya, and they share the same dining area. The Kusina Ni Kuya side is more of a traditional Filipino *turo-turo* (point-point) setup, where you choose your dishes cafeteria-style. I went with the **beef sinigang**. I was initially planning to order two entrees, but after seeing the generous portion they served, I decided one was plenty. While eating, I noticed trays of Cajun-style seafood boils coming out to nearby tables--interesting to see, even if it's not really my thing. As for the food, the sinigang delivered. The broth had a nice, balanced tang--sour but not overpowering--and it really hit the spot after the hike. Simple, comforting, and satisfying. **Why 4 stars?** Very solid food and portions, but not quite a standout experience that pushes it into that must-go, 5-star category. **Overall:** A reliable spot for Filipino comfort food--especially if you're coming down from a hike and want something warm and filling.

The food however is beyond phenomenal. This may be one of the best meals I've had in all of the valley. I tried the Tapsilog bowl which had a perfectly cooked egg, savory Garlic rice and a great helping of marinated Angus beef. I'd love to know what they use for the Beef Marinade because it was out of this world. A flavor explosion the likes of which I have never tasted. One bite and I started devouring the bowl and had to force myself to slow down and chew. I also tried their Pork bun which was delicious. A perfectly made bun with delicious cooked Pork belly and an excellent pairing of sauces and toppings. I've had pork buns from other places and the bun has always ended up being too sweet and ruined the flavors for me, this was NOT the case. This Pork bun was in a word, Delectable. We decided on Oi Asian which had great reviews, so why not. First off, let me say that there is plenty of parking, however, the parks are extremely narrow for some reason. It was a struggle to get in and out of the car due to the width of the parks smh. Anyway, once we got inside, there wasn't anyway at the register and after standing there for a while, I noticed the kiosk so unplaced my order there. There were only two cooks in the back. We placed our order and sat down. The place was clean but everything seemed like it was do it yourself. The boys were thirsty and there wasn't an option for water on the kiosk, so I called one of the cooks from the back to pay for a water and he rang me up. It was pretty rough in there. At one point I had to get up and grab my own fork by reaching over the counter. Once our food was ready, one of the cooks brought our food and I wasn't really feeling my meal, which was the dynamite crawfish bowl. I didn't like the sauce it came with. I just picked at the crawfish and left the rest. As for the boys meal, the fried chicken adobo bowl was REALLY good! I ended up eating theirs because my oldest son didn't like it, which was great for me lol. My youngest and I tore that bowl up. Anyway, the verdict is, I may search around for other options but I know that if I can't find anything else I can always grab a chicken adobo bowl but the service was pretty nonexistent. That chicken adobo bowl saved it. OOO 3 out of 5
