This location has been here for over 30 years for sure different owners. Food is still great and the service is great. It's neat and clean inside and comfry. Always leave here with great experience. Hope they stay open for many more years.

Can't wrap up an LA tour with Filipina titas (aunties) without taking them to Manila Sunset for some Pancit Malabon, Lumpiang Shanghai, and Dinuguan. I'd say taste-wise, I prefer the Rancho Cucamonga location, but they were really nice to accommodate us even if we arrived close to closing time. We weren't rushed and they were helpful with our needs in terms of sauces and to go boxes. They also gave us a free soup which was really nice!

Palabok and bibingka? Manila sunset is the spot! Yummy Filipino food, made to order. The staff is super nice and helpful. Food came out pretty fast and the ambiance was nice. They had a cute Filipino mural and Filipino music playing. I need to take a picture of that next time I go and get the tokwa and baboy

Disappointed in my recent experience here.. The prices of the 2 item plate went up.. Fine. However, we noticed that the entree portions were shrunk!! You can see the difference in my photos of the same meal from last year. I only had 5 pieces of chopped pork for the Lechon Kawali, and 2 pork pieces in my pork sinigang soup. Really?? The rice portions were also smaller and it's because of the small-sized paper plates used. Super disappointed for spending money for this meal. I used to be able to have leftovers for a second meal, but today there wasn't any left. I don't think I'm coming back anymore, even if I crave Filipino cuisine again. It'd be better off for me to cook it myself.

"I had a great experience at this Filipino restaurant. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, making it a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was attentive and friendly, and the staff made us feel comfortable the whole time. Most importantly, the food was delicious--well-prepared, flavorful, and truly satisfying. Overall, a wonderful spot if you're craving good Filipino food and a pleasant dining experience."

1 minute read: This review is an 'add-on' to my previous one. We've been customers fore YEARS, as you well know. Normally, we go to Manila Sunset when my wife craves a certain dish. We're never disappointed with their food, service and price. As far as food goes, we've had Tokwat Baboy, fried fish, Goto and other delicious items. If you haven't been to MANILA SUNSET, make plans.

Manila Sunset is our go to for Pancit Malabon and Bibingkang Galapong. They do make the best Pancit Malabon. Hands down! Customer service here, at the North Hills eatery is excellent. Whenever we order for to go or dine in, Manila Sunset provides excellent customer service. They are always consistent with providing great customer service. We visited at noon on a weekday. The place was busy but not crowded. We received our order within 15 minutes. Everything was freshly cooked and made. Our Bibingkang Galapong was steaming hot and it was delicious. Came with coconut. The cheese inside the bibingka was on point. The Pancit Malabon is flavorful. The shrimp as topping is just right and not over cooked. I ordered one plate of Pancit Malabon and we got it to go so it came in a box. The serving is good enough for 2 people. Their Bibingkang Galapong serving is also good enough for 2 people. If you're looking to satisfy your Pancit Malabon cravings you have to try Manila Sunset if you haven't already. Manila Sunset offers the best tasting Pancit Malabon not only in the San Fernando Valley but also in So Cal. Along with their Bibingkang Galapong.

Ordered the Pancit Mallabon and Bibingkang Galapong to go. Both dishes were made to order, so they came out fresh and hot after 10 minutes. I went on a Wed afternoon when there were no customers eating in house, but they seemed to get a lot of to go orders during this time. According to my Filipino friend who is familiar with this spot, it gets very busy and they quickly run out of the bibingkang during the holiday season. Having never eaten either of these dishes, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed both! The noodles were well cooked (not mushy at all) and the sauce was savory with a tang of acidty from the lemon. The cabbage and eggs complimented the dish well, but I wish they'd included more shrimp, as there were maybe 3 total.

The small plaza holds this Filipino hit. Just enough tables inside. We dropped by because its been awhile. Staff always greets us with a smile. Of course I had to get the pancit malabon and bibinkang galapong! So gooood! Their pancit malabon always satisfies. The bibinkang galapong is warm, buttery, soft and top it with coconut. My comfort food! Thank you Manila Sunset!

Manila Sunset is a MUST-try Filipino restaurant. It's one of my Filipino dad's favorite places to eat at! He enjoys getting the bibingka. We ordered our food to-go and the service was fast. For all the food we got, it took under 15 minutes. The restaurant itself is located in a small plaza and there's not much parking. Today, we got the pork liempo plate, the pork sisig plate, arroz caldo, lumpia shanghai, and of course, the beloved bibingka! Everything was good. My favorites were the lumpia shanghai and the arroz caldo. For the bibingka, just a heads up that they put a block of cheese in the middle in case you're not a fan cause that's all you'll eat for a few bites. Overall, I highly recommend!

A while back, I had a run-in with some undercooked pork BBQ but, perhaps it was just a fluke; and I must update my review. I gave it another visit a few years ago and my experiences thereafter have been nothing short of amazing. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The food is consistently good and never disappoints. My husband is non-Filipino and even HE gets excited when we make plans to eat there. You know a place is universally good when they're successfully serving a diverse group of happy patrons. In addition to their meal service and offerings, their catering is SO GOOD. my party guests never fail to make compliments when House of Grill is served. Even my sisters now order from them for party trays/platters. This is most definitely one of the BEST Filipino restaurants in the NorthWest Valley area. Plus, everything is freshly made and reasonably priced. Please stay affordable, House of Grill! The community appreciates it . A few things to consider: 1) When ordering catering online, I never receive an email confirmation (perhaps you need to set up an account or something), but if you're ever unsure, I recommend calling them sometime after your online order to confirm. 2) My dad used to be a chef at a Filipino restaurant, and House of Grill's BBQ is the closest I've experienced to my Dad's BBQ. Their pork and chicken BBQ sticks are top-notch and can be thoroughly enjoyed by even the pickiest eaters. Their caldereta also rivals our own family recipe. Highly recommended. 3) My little one is born and raised in the U.S. but she absolutely LOVES their dinuguan, bicol express, Filipino spaghetti, and ube suman (sticky rice). 4) My husband is a southern boy and his favorites are the lumpia shanghai/shrimp & fried chicken. 5) My own personal favorites are the pork sisig, bistek/beefsteak & onions, and palabok. Mami King -- now rebranded as Manami King -- I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the new name…read more The rebrand felt a little random to me. But that aside, I genuinely love this place. I've been coming here since they were on Roscoe next to Black Angus, so I've seen the evolution. The recent changes to the space have been great. The ambiance is much more pleasant now -- less cluttered, more seating, and overall just more inviting. It feels easier to sit down and actually enjoy your meal there. I honestly think if they added a little music and curated a solid playlist, it would elevate the whole experience even more and really complete the vibe. Now to the food. Some people might think it's a little pricey, but in my opinion, it's worth it. The fried chicken is good. Out of every five visits, maybe once I'll get a piece that's a little bland. When I say bland, I mean it tastes like it may have been boiled first and then fried -- it just doesn't hit the same. If they can tighten up that consistency, it would be perfect. My mom loves the beef mami (noodle soup). It's solid. Sometimes the noodles could be a bit more al dente, but it's still always a hit for us. The siomai is good, though it's different from most places. It leans more toward a meatball texture. That said, when you pair it with their chili oil, it's delicious. The bangus (milkfish) is really good -- decent size, great flavor, great texture. Same goes for the lechon kawali. When we take it home, I'll usually throw it in the air fryer to crisp it back up, and it's perfect. The lugaw is great as well. And don't sleep on the sago-gulaman -- it's solid. They recently added Filipino breakfast to the menu. I've only tried it once so far, but it was really good. And if you're on the fence about my opinion, trust me -- I'm a big dude. This place hits. Service-wise, there's a woman there I always call Tita -- I forget her name -- but she's incredibly sweet and accommodating. Always a warm greeting when you walk in. The staff in general are friendly and welcoming. The only thing I wish they had is an online ordering option. That would make things even better. For now, just call your order in. If you made it this far, thanks for reading. And if you ever need a haircut, you can find me at Rose Garden Barbershop in Lake Balboa. Ask for Karlo -- or feel free to sit with any of our guys. We're Filipino-owned and operated. Come through.

Manami King né Mami King is one of the better Filipino restaurants in the San Fernando Valley…read more Mami refers to a Filipino style Rāmen in a light meat broth. Small eatery in a small strip mall where most interesting foods in L.A. seem to be. For takeout, go to the counter to order, or sit in a chair to have table service. 1) Kikiam is a rare, specialized dish similar to Thai Hoy Jaw. It is herbed, finely ground pork infused with Patís/fish sauce which is wrapped in Yuba/Tōfu skin and deep fried to a crisp. It looks like an egg roll, and the meat inside becomes meaty, dense. A sweet-sour chile sauce is a good accompaniment. This is a must get. 2) Lomi seems like a relative of Japanese Udon soup. The broth is soy sauce tinged and thickened with corn starch to a velvety consistency. Various fish terrine with different textures and flavours. Chicharón, fried pig skin, shredded chicken, shrimp, boiled egg. Cabbage, carrots, green onion. Comes our piping hot to my liking. Very satisfying noodle soup that especially would be welcomed on a cold winter day. I like it better than the Mami since it has more pronounced, distinct flavors. 3) Pancit Palabok: Slippery, thin glass noodles wetted with a Patís based broth. Sprinkling of powdered fried Chicharón, chopped green onions, dressed with sliced hard boiled eggs topped with streamed shrimp. 4) Lechon Kawali is pork with crisp skin, rich layer of fat, chewy meat fried in its own fat like carnitas. Mang Tomás sauce which has puréed pork liver, sweet-sour vinegar is a thick sauce that pairs perfectly with the wild porkiness. 5) The Sio Mai/Shūmai has dense, heavy, finely minced pork flavoured with Patís, touch of garlic wrapped by wheat flour Wonton skin. May not be my favorite, but acceptable. 6) Bola Bola Siopao is a relative of Bao. Humongous steam baked flour bun is sweet, cushy, very extra filling that carboholics will love. The inside has herbed ground pork, lop chong hoisin sauce infused sausage, and salted boiled egg. All of which doesn't have the fire power of strong tastes and amount to flavour the bland bun. For me, it was a waste of calories. 7) Halo Halo is totally worth the calories. At least 3 types of beans simmered in sugar sauce. Purple and green jellies for festive color. Cubes of eggy flan. Ubè purple, sweet potato and banana are simmered in brown sugar adding a woody, toasty, satisfying sweetness. Evaporated milk adds that dairy richness. This is not a dessert to be missed. A Must get. All in all, 4+ stars. You're missing out if you don't come to eat here.
