Great time here with friends. It's a lovely atmosphere and the bar area looks cool and inviting! We took friends here for dinner and they all enjoyed their meals. For some reason, our dinners took a really long time to arrive, we actually had to ask our server where our food was?? The manager came over and apologized for the delay and comped our dinners!! When I say we waited a long time I mean about an hour ! We tried as much as we could, started with the spinach dip and muscles. All good but needed more grilled bread. We tried the lobster bisque, wedge salad and French onion soup, all did not disappoint! Dinners were the bolognese, chicken, budabaisse (seafood mix) and the short rib with mashed potatoes! All plates were empty for sure but we all agreed the food could have been hotter?! Which led us to believe someone forgot where our food was going?? Other than the lateness of our food it was very delicious! Short ribs was large and tender! Bolognese says there's goat cheese in it but I didn't taste it. I hate the taste of goat cheese and I thought it was really good!! My friends love the budabaisse and she took the piece of salmon home and enjoyed it in a salad the next day! The chicken looked really good, I'll have to try it next time. We dined inside but they have a cool patio outside too! Thanks Travis and Tamara we'll definitely be back but HCS is our hearts fav. read more

Food is always awesome! Kinda pricey but well worth it. Typical prices for an upscale restaurant. Glad it's in Buda and not as far as Austin. Only wish there was a place like this in Kyle! We've been there 5 times and service has always been wonderful! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in the buda/kyle are! We come often. Everything is on point :) love it here!

Great ambiance and service. Place was hopping! Rezzies recommended, we had them, just barely. Food was very good, but just a tad over salted. Not enough to complain, but we all agreed that three of the four mains were just a bit too salty. Chicken fried steak breading was the salty bit, gravy had less salt, so made sure to have gravy with every bite to cut the salt. Cream brûlée good, but a tad runny. Lots of menu options and cocktails. Even a nice dessert menu. Brunch menu looks good too. Will try again and see if our food salt level is better next time. Outdoor seating available on nice days, a plus. read more

This place is a gem. If you are celebrating something or just have the taste for a nice night out, I would recommend this place. Josh, our server, was extremely personable and it was nice having him come to our table. He elevated the experience and provided quality recommendations. We ordered the sour dough as an appetizer (which felt weird to do). The bread is made in house and I would actually do this again. The paprika butter was not my favorite. The steak sliders were probably the highlight of the table. Absolutely delicious with a nice texture balance. The short ribs and cheese grits were also wonderful. Super rich food that filled me up half way through my portion. The pickled red onions were a great touch for some crunch and vinegar to cut the richness. The cilantro was not my favorite and I will ask for it to be held when I order it again... and I like cilantro. It didn't work with the dish in my opinion. All in all, the experience was excellent and I will be returning. I will also confidently recommend them to others. read more

I have eaten at this place twice now and it was great both times. Wonderful service! The prices are a little higher than you might expect, but it's a nicer place, so it's worth it. I had the BLT the last time I went with French fries and it was delicious! It's a beautiful space and decorated to be "instagram-able". read more

Love Taste on Main!!! We've been a few times and have always had amazing service. The manager, Joseph, always makes our experience even more pleasant. The inside is super clean and bright, I don't know exactly how to describe the vibe but it's perfect. You can fit in here in a ball cap or in your nicest attire! The food is great, and better priced during happy hour. I have a gluten allergy and the staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Overall, would definitely recommend. read more

First time visiting this establishment, and just WOW! Beginning to end, we had a great time here. From the food to the service, everything was just perfect for my sister's birthday. Shout out to our amazing server, Lee/Leigh. They took great care of us and made us feel so welcomed. Best service ever and we loved every recommended dish. The food was nothing short of phenomenal. I can't decide which was best. Everything tasted delicious! I would've taken more photos of each dish we got, but we dove right in. We will absolutely be going back! read more

We've been to the Taste on Main several times. Each time we go it continues to get better and better. Last night was no exception. Our waiter, Evan was amazing. His detail in service was first class. The food was delicious. The menu has so many great options. It was hard to decide. My only disappointment is that its loud inside. The patio is great too but to hot for an early summer dinner. I highly recommend Taste on Main. You will love it! read more

The weather is one more reason to keep going back here since the weather has cooled off. Sitting on their outdoor patio is so serene and cozy. They also have outdoor fans. And the food is always good. I am a huge fan of their cheese burger and Brussels sprouts. So on this day I got both. Whoever is cooking in their kitchen, they continue to put out flavorful dishes. And the portion sizes lend themselves to leftovers. These leftovers were demolished by the kiddos as they loved the Brussel sprouts! read more

Probably the cleanest restaurant I've been to in years. Staff, specifically Brandon, were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. Drinks and food were great! All in all a very positive atmosphere. read more

Nice atmosphere, good patio with misters to keep you cool (though almost blew me out of my chair...but beat sitting in the heat). Stopped in for happy hour which featured $7 margaritas which we enjoyed. Also had braised beef queso on the happy hour menu. The cheese was very pasty, and left us feeling bloated and a little upset in the stomach. Chips were great, but that cheese put a damper on the experience. I'd give it another try and order something different. read more

I came back as the first time here with a friend on the treehouse deck was delightful. Today my hubby and I sat inside which was perfect temperature and came with additional checks by the owners? House managers? The only downside to sitting inside was being seated directly next to a boisterous table with a loud talker whose fav word was *ucking. I had the chicken caprese sandwich subbing brussels for fries. Do get the brussels as they are so tasty. My husband enjoyed the smashburger which was "very good". High praise Our server A was pleasant and checked in on us a just right number of times. Definitely becoming my go to Buda establishment. . read more

We came here for late lunch and it was not busy, snagged a Princess parking spot in front of the restaurant and was seated right away! Jeff was an attentive & friendly server - he anticipated our needs. He was always one step ahead. Since this was late lunch we just had a few small bites - all of them tasty, Brussels sprouts, sourdough bread with butters, tuna tostaditas and pork belly tostadas! Good lunch spot! We will definitely be back to try their HH plus visit all other new places here on Main St, Buda! read more

Excellent food and service. The inside was a little stuffy for my liking, but the outside more than made up for it. The food and cocktails were absolutely FANTASTIC! I ended up getting the 8 oz filet mignon with potatoes au gratin, while my mom ordered the short rib with green beans. We had sourdough bread with smoked salmon dip and a half dozen oysters as our starter, and we both really enjoyed the Violet Beauregard cocktail. Amazing spot to eat and well worth the price! read more

Went for brunch on Sunday. Daughter had shrimp/grits - $18 and she got 3 shrimp. Guess that is "upscale" dining. Not the first time I've been disappointed here. Was really excited about this restaurant given that they are owned by same people as Hays City Story, and that place is great. My husband and I came here last Saturday (5/13) initially just for drinks but those were so good we decided to spring for food (even though the prices were a bit off putting for us we figured it was a special occasion so why not). The food here was delicious, the drinks were on point, we sat at the bar so as not to need a reservation and the bartenders were awesome! We had the short ribs, pork belly tostadas and lobster bisque. I know we asked for the brussel sprouts and it just dawned on me as I'm writing this that we never got them which makes me sad because I know we wont be able to go back for some time since the food prices are a bit high (that's not to say the food quality doesn't reflect the high prices though). Also shout out to the waitress who passed by and advised we should use the lime on our tostadas, it made them infinitely more deliscous! My one star deduction is only for a couple "minor" things... one, I wanted to love the lobster bisque but it was a tab bit sour, maybe, like sour cream. I also wish you got more food like a bit more short ribs or two sides instead of just mashed potatoes (even though those paired exquisitely with said short ribs) and more than two tostadas with the pork belly tostada app, especially for the price you are paying for food. Or at least include the $4 bread, that we wanted to try but didn't want to pay extra for, when someone is purchasing an entrée. All and all we would try it again on another special occasion (because of the price point of course) and we would recommend to others! read more

If you're traveling in the I-35 corridor and have munchies and wanting more of sit down meal (not that there's anything wrong with the usual fast food gauntlet and/or Buc-ee) then make your way to old town Buda. This restaurant is quaint with a modern vibe-music playing but not too loud, great full bar with many options, and they have an outside patio. You're immediately warmly greeted, seated and the service was efficient and friendly. The menu was varied-they have raw oysters on the half shell but different types of oysters other than from the gulf-that was a bonus for sure. Lobster bisque & lobster rolls were delicious. I recommend this great little gem-I want and will come back as soon as I can. read more

Ambiance - 4 stars. We have eaten inside and on the very nice patio. Service - 5 stars, every time Food - 4 stars. Dinner, Lunch and Brunch menus are very inviting. Good options and the food is good. Not the best in the Austin area but good. I have really liked everything I have tried except the Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich. Actually, 3 out of 4 of us had it last week and none of us would order it again. It sounds delicious by menu description but it didn't taste as expected. It was not spicy and it had a BBQ sauce flavor to it and it wasn't good. That aside, I have enjoyed many other items here. Parking can be an issue. It's street parking and so many places have opened up in this Main Street area that it can be difficult to find a spot. This a very welcome and needed upscale restaurant in Buda. read more

Fantastic food and fantastic service!!!!! The ambiance is cozy and makes for a great date night inside or out!

Well, we made it. After crushing delays to get Taste on Main open, we made it for dinner. My expectations may have been a little unrealistic. I describe the vibe as: confused. Four of us dropped over $200 for dinner while additional guests sauntered in wearing flip flops, athletic shorts, and a most outstanding Hawaiian shirt. For a cruise, this shirt would have been amazing. However, this is a relatively expensive restaurant. Or, is it? The food was satisfying. Two steaks were good, one over salted though. The brussel sprouts were really good. The service was alright. Had some drinks go dry for a bit. The staff was friendly. I feel like it took a little longer than expected from order to table delivery. One of the oddest items however, is the art somehow curated by Hannibal Lector or Buffalo Bill in the men's restroom. I've seen some things in my days, but this caught me off guard. Everything I've heard about the owners is that they are outstanding people. I hope my experience is more my own issues and not frequently echoed by other guests. Best of luck. read more

We REALLY enjoyed this. We were here a couple of weeks ago for after dinner drinks to visit a member of the staff (ask for Luke, he's awesome). Came back to sit on the patio for dinner tonight after it was a long wait at Main St. Pizzeria. Not disappointed. Started with the tuna tostadas - lots of flavor and a great way to start. Then the Budabaisse and he had the ancho chile short rib. Both were so good, there was nothing left of either. Ended with the creme Brulee, also all gone. Super nice staff. Manager even checked on the meal. read more

Really enjoyed our meal and the service was very friendly and attentive. Could not ask for a better night out.

This place has everything going for it. My mother and I dined here last minute on a Saturday evening and were able to get seated at the bar right away. Our bar tender Eddie was kind, attentive, and gave other great local recommendations to us. The moscato and Malbec wines were lovely paired with our ragu and blackened redfish. Not pictured is the dessert we got, toasted pound cake, was sweet without being too sweet. The French onion soup and Caesar were great starters, not too filling but enough to hold you over while waiting for food. The staff were all lovely, the food was prepared well and came out timely, we weren't rushed when I took a while to finish my wine. Would be great to celebrate an occasion or for a nice date night. read more

This little restaurant in Buda is the Bomb!!! I went to visit a friend and we decided to get a bite, it was around 2:30 PM, kind of off time. The place is cute and traditional. We were seated right away, the place was empty when we got there but filled up as we sat there savoring our food and chatting. Savana was amazing, probably one of the best servers I have ever had, and a wonderful personality to boot. The food was wow wow wow, incroyable!!! For appetizers, we had the Brussels sprouts and guacamole which were delicious, my friend had the shrimp with grits and I had a salad with fried chicken...OMG, we were both like wow. Finally, desert was heavenly, I had a homemade chocolate ice cream with cake bits & melted marshmallow's, so unique and so good I nearly ate the plate. I am putting this on my list of must go back to soon...I feel so lucky to have found it. read more

The service was great. There was an issue with our order coming out, and one person missing their entrée. The manager, who was very involved in helping even grab dirty plates, saw the issue and immediately went to the kitchen. He didn't have to even ask us what was wrong. A couple of minutes later he showed up with the entrée, and ensured it was the correct temperature. The cocktails very good, and the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and made sure to check on our drinks and water several times. The pasta bolognese, with pappardelle was very good. The pasta was cooked just right, and the sauce was delicious. The chicken friend rib eye was great, especially with the beef fat gravy. The restaurant is very clean and well decorated. Taste on Main is now part of our family story. We were in town from California for our daughter and son-in-law's baby shower, and they took us to Taste on Main--their favorite local spot in Buda, Texas. After one dinner, we completely understood why they love it so much. The food is fantastic (don't miss the mac 'n cheese, clams, or Brussels sprouts), the steaks were perfectly cooked, and the desserts--just wow. But what really made the place unforgettable was the staff. Molly was our server the first night, and she's an absolute gem--warm, funny, and she knows the menu like the back of her hand. Her recommendations were spot-on, and we felt so cared for from start to finish. We loved it so much that my wife and I returned the next night--just the two of us--and while Marisa was our official server, Molly spotted us and was so genuinely happy to see us again that the two of them tag-teamed the table, making us feel doubly welcomed and truly special. On the third day, we returned yet again--this time for brunch. Marisa greeted us with the same warmth, and the manager, Emily, came over to introduce herself after hearing about our three-day streak. Her kindness and the way she made us feel like part of the Taste on Main family meant the world to us. We don't give glowing reviews lightly, but this place truly deserves it. When a restaurant makes you feel at home three days in a row, you know you've found something special. We're already looking forward to coming back--and with a new grandbaby on the way, we now have the perfect reason to return for many more joyful meals with our extended family, who now include the kindhearted team at Taste on Main. read more
