This review is a long overdue.... Simply - Taste of Main is the best fine dining in downtown buda. It is classy, and the service is always professional. They have great happy hour. Get those oysters. These people know what they are doing. It is a steak and sea food restaurant, but they have great pasta and burgers as well. Often times they serve delightfully-unexpected seasonal dishes. The food and drinks always incredible and the atmosphere is unmatched If you are celebrating or you are looking for a nice place for a date look no further. It did not disappoint. I enjoyed my visits to Taste and came to the restaurant because it was on the Ultimate Beef Trail. The first visit they were so busy that we sat at the bar and I enjoyed the mezcal cocktail and had a lobster roll that was very tasty. There were large pieces of lobster that was served on a toasted bun. The second visit I took advantage of the happy hour and had the margarita and baked Rockefeller oysters with bacon and spinach. The oysters were a good size and were baked to perfection with a nice crust. I loved the yellow tail beet ceviche that was served with tortilla chips. However, the restaurant honored my request to bring out some kettle chips which I enjoyed more with my ceviche. Love the ambiance of the restaurant and nice upscale feel for downtown Buda. Here's what we ordered: Taste burger Ceviche Shrimp and crab dip Crab guacamole Mexican firing squad Chicken fried steak Shells and cheese The only thing I wish were different is the serving of potato chips with the ceviche. The chips themselves weren't crunchy throughout which made the texture experience off putting at times. The interior is very laid back and more on the edgy side by nyc standards. Super cute spot in downtown Buda. I came in for brunch and I really appreciate not having an overwhelming amount of brunch options. To me that is one of the keys to a great restaurant. We stopped in shortly after they opened so it wasn't busy yet but we still opted to sit at the bar. The bartender was very friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. If you come for brunch be sure to start off with the yummy beignets. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which was tasty my only critique is that there was way more bread to protein ratio and very little bacon. Other than that is was great, also then potatoes were the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had, nice and crispy but not greasy and full of flavor. They also don't hold off on the side of fruit. So if you get a chance be sure to get both side at your table. This is a place that I will absolutely visit again when I'm in the area. read more

Our server checked in on us at all the right times which is very enjoyable when having a special dinner night. The food was so delicious we both finished our plates completely. The redfish had a really nice char and still very juicy. The burger meat was cooked to perfection. The mustard and special sauce were excellent. Lastly... the crème brûlée was an amazing night cap! I really wanted to love this place. The ambiance is cute, our server was really nice. She even comped my gnocchi as honestly it just wasn't very good. It's hard to get gnocchi right but given their prices my biggest recommendation is that they need to hire more next level chefs. My husband and I got one small appetizer of poutine and 6 oysters, one old fashioned, two glasses of wine, a ribeye steak ( my gnocchi was comped) and one piece of cheese cake. With tip the bill was $250. I used to live in NYC and that's what I would have expected at a top notch Manhattan restaurant. This is not that. The food is subpar. It's honestly just too expensive for not good enough quality of food. If you want to charge these obscene prices you need to pay for the top talent in the kitchen. The inside is super clean and bright, I don't know exactly how to describe the vibe but it's perfect. You can fit in here in a ball cap or in your nicest attire! Great time here with friends. It's a lovely atmosphere and the bar area looks cool and inviting! We took friends here for dinner and they all enjoyed their meals. For some reason, our dinners took a really long time to arrive, we actually had to ask our server where our food was?? The manager came over and apologized for the delay and comped our dinners!! When I say we waited a long time I mean about an hour ! We tried as much as we could, started with the spinach dip and muscles. All good but needed more grilled bread. We tried the lobster bisque, wedge salad and French onion soup, all did not disappoint! Dinners were the bolognese, chicken, budabaisse (seafood mix) and the short rib with mashed potatoes! All plates were empty for sure but we all agreed the food could have been hotter?! Which led us to believe someone forgot where our food was going?? Other than the lateness of our food it was very delicious! Short ribs was large and tender! Bolognese says there's goat cheese in it but I didn't taste it. I hate the taste of goat cheese and I thought it was really good!! My friends love the budabaisse and she took the piece of salmon home and enjoyed it in a salad the next day! Not enough to complain, but we all agreed that three of the four mains were just a bit too salty. The steak sliders were probably the highlight of the table. Absolutely delicious with a nice texture balance. The short ribs and cheese grits were also wonderful. Super rich food that filled me up half way through my portion. The pickled red onions were a great touch for some crunch and vinegar to cut the richness. The cilantro was not my favorite and I will ask for it to be held when I order it again... and I like cilantro. It didn't work with the dish in my opinion.
