a food cart at night
Ted C.

After hitting up some bars and wanting some drunk food. There really weren't too many options; going midweek and during COVID certainly meant a lot less activity so Taste was basically the only option during my visit. I got the kabab roll with all the sauces. You know what? It wasn't bad, especially for post-bar food it hit all the targets: greasy, flavorful, handheld and slightly messy. I was warned that the spicy sauce would be much but it was fine. I don't know what the other options at the food truck park was but Taste from India seems as a good a stop as any other options there.

The best chicken Samosa I have had since I moved to Austin. Super crunchy and flavor. I will come back to try other food from the menu.

More like Waste From Indiana. This place was a disappointment. It wasn't awful, we ate it in the car and it was pretty wet which I liked, but it was lacking Spice, and the flavour was much too mild and the chicken too dry for me to really enjoy it. It cost a little much too, and showed again that Austin's late night food truck scene is not as good as it's daytime food trucks. Sure, there are a few good ones, and for me this wasn't really one of them.

The food was delicious and was filled with lots of flavor. Affordable pricing as well as big portions for leftovers. The man working was also very friendly and happy to know how we liked the food. Would come back! & deff worth a try (: -Visiting guest from California

Stopped by late night on a Saturday night for some Indian food. Went with the chicken tiki masala. I haven't had Indian food since my stay in India, so I was beyond excited. To my surprise it wasn't the best food I've had with my stay here in Austin. With all the other surrounding food options there you might want to check out something else.

3 nights in a row we've stopped here; had the tikka masala and the giant veggie samosas the first night, the chicken curry the second night, and the chicken biryani the third. Everything is authentic, and appropriately spiced. The service is quick and sincere; whether it's 11:30 and just into the night or 2:30 and almost closing time, they're quick and thorough- everything is seasoned and cooked wonderfully. I HIGHLY recommend

Hands down the best the best Indian food I've ever had. The chicken briyarni is amazing I had to have it every night I was in Austin after a night full of drinks. The best!

My friends and I wandered here after an agonizing night of karaoke. I only call it agonizing because I was taught how to properly "twerk" which is something I never thought I'd know how to do and is EXHAUSTING. Thanks a lot, Kat. We were searching for some food truck, but unfortunately many of them were already closed. The people working the truck were a little cold. They weren't rude exactly, it just seemed like they didn't care at all. I was one of the first to order and I was the last to receive my order. The food was fine enough and reasonably priced. I've had better kababs in town with much better service. My kabab was really messy (they can be anywhere, but this one was a little difficult in that respect). That said, it was still pretty good. I'd say you're okay to skip it and head to another place, but if you're nearby and in the same situation of late night "oh, no! everyone is closed!" it's a more satisfying option than the 24 hour fast food places.

Best Indian food truck that I've ever had... Chicken tikka masala: (5/5) very flavorful and filling. For the price, you definitely get a bang for your buck. My friend and I were stuff with sharing one. This probably wasn't your typical chicken tikka since that is more dry but I feel as though this was definitely better. Make sure you ask for it spicy!!! It wasn't overwhelmingly spicy but it gave a great kick. Great for when you're trying to sober up or before drinking :) Would I Come back? Lol, I did... In the same night :)

Went at 1AM. Maybe it was because it was late at night but the chicken tikka masala did NOT taste anything nearly like its supposed to. Did not feel like any cream was added and the chicken was pretty dry. Rice and salad were pretty decent. 1 star for dry chicken. Do not pay $9 for this shit.

Vegetarian Daal - SO GOOD!

Excellent, excellent food. Very fresh, extremely flavorful and addicting! I was introduced to this cart by my husband and we have made it a regular stop at least once a week. Lovely owner and just super super fresh, tasty food. For those who are comparing it to other Indian they've had, they need to understand that all Indian curry is not made the exact same. There are regional differences as well as differences in recipes. Does your mom make spaghetti like every one else? Um NO. Expand your palate and your world view just a tad. Good grief.

The #8 biryani was just salty. The meat was too much salt. But it was ready fast, and there was enough food for two meals.

When I walked into Tandoori Lounge, I was immediately transported back to my time in India. The atmosphere is sultry and seductive. You are drawn in my the dimly lit restaurant with warm soothing colors. You hear this soft intoxicating music as you take in these tiny table lamps. We were all in! I met a Yelp friend for dinner that I had not seen for quite some time. It was great catching up! As you walked in, you could smell a hint of the aroma of spices coming from the kitchen. Is it possible that everything you eat or drink is exceptional? Can service be at the highest possible level? Yes and Yes! We ordered the onion kulcha and garlic naan as appetizers. They were fresh, hot, soft and super flavorful. You could taste the onions in the kulcha and the garlic was pronounced in the garlic naan. We both ordered the lamb/goat marsala (medium for me and mild for my friend). The entrée was an explosion of flavors in your mouth...so good! The entrée was rich and enjoyable to eat without being heavy. It came with basmati rice where the kernels did not stick to each other. The rice was airy and fluffy. My friend ordered an Indian beer. When in India, Indian beer is a staple. I ordered a lemon drop martini. This was the best martini I have had in a very long time. Shamu, the bartender, came over to our table to explain what other martinis he could make that were not on the menu. The Lemon Drop martini was ice cold (loved that), smooth and perfectly blended. Shamu said that the glass was first chilled before the martini was poured. Drinking narvana... Riya, our server, was so sweet and kind. She was meticulous in serving our table - water constantly refilled, lemons delivered and food strategically placed on the table. Riya suggested our entrée as the most popular dish. We absolutely understand why. I am not sure why we have never eaten at Tandoori. I definitely will be returning when I am back in the South part of the city.

I LOVED the rice that came with the dishes - it already had some flavor and the texture was similar to Thai broken rice. Naan is a great value - 4 pieces for $5. Ordered the Jalapeño cream cheese naan and it had a generous portion of cream cheese inside. I tried the Ulavacharu soup--absolutely delicious. It's main ingredient is horse gram, which apparently is in the legume family. It wasn't like any soup I've had before, so description is a bit tough. It was fairly spicy to start with, but less so as I kept eating it. The only things I could identify was ground up horse gram, some sweet onions, and some thinly shaved ginger, but it had a lot of complexity. Highly recommend that and the rose milk (especially if you need some relief from the spiciness when you start out.) I had a little bit of my friend's butter chicken sauce, and that was excellent too. More heavily tomato-based than I'm used to, but a lot of depth of flavor. I'd happily order that in the future. You can literally smell the fresh curries from the nearby HEB. The aroma alone makes you hungry. We've been coming since they first opened, and it's been great watching them continue to improve and expand the restaurant over time. The staff is attentive, friendly, and constantly checking in to help with orders or anything else you need. We've tried a huge variety of dishes over the years. Several curry's such as the Chettinad special curry, butter chicken, tikka masala, chicken 65, several biryanis, all consistently delicious. One of my personal favorites is the plain dosa and curry combo, which comes with four different chutneys that are all fantastic. Even my young son loves coming here because they have things like shrimp noodles and fried rice that are kid friendly while still tasting great. We used to mostly order to-go, but lately we've started dining in more often because the experience itself is so enjoyable. Service is quick, the atmosphere is comfortable, and I really appreciate the details. The artwork and photos on the walls, the music, and the lighting that isn't overly bright.
