A pretty solid and unique take on tapas, Portugese style. Its a small spot with some outdoor dining but we sat at the bar and it was quite packed around 7pm on a Friday night. The service was pretty solid and friendly and we never waited for long for much. We just split the 5 tapas but I like that each person could order there own 3-5-7 tapa plates. We got the cheese with honey, the wings, the Passion Fruit Semifreddo, the gazpacho, and the fried peri peri potatos. All of it was good but nothing was next level amazing- the passion fruit dessert was probably the best thing, followed by the cheese (though I wish it came with a tiny bit of bread or crackers). I am sure some of the more traditional items would be even tastier, we just weren't feeling adventurous that day. They had a lot of passion fruit flavored items, which I love, and we thought the cocktails were tasty and fairly priced (sangria was nice). read more

Incredible that the flavors of the Azores Islands have come to life in Sonoma. Oh my gosh, this is where my grandparents are from, so it has additional significance My wife and I ordered a serving with seven tapas to choose, and each of them were more incredible than the last. I absolutely loved this place and can't wait to come back. read more

Portuguese tapas restaurant in core downtown Sonoma. Highly recommend making a reservation -- we went on a Friday night and it was fairly packed. They have tapas in sets of 3, 5, or 7 and you can choose from anything on their menu. We shared 7 and were feeling decently full by the end. If you're hungry, I'd recommend ordering more, since the portions are fairly small. The goat stew and tripe were our favorites, with the smoked duck breast coming in a close second. The fried pig ears were a tad sweet and the escargot was a bit too salty. Overall, a good place to try out for small bites. read more

I loved the concept here, you pick a bunch of small items and have a little feast for yourself! Everything was excellent and so tasty, just the right quantity to not get overwhelmed. Lovely wine selection, and the staff were really friendly and helpful! Got this lovely spread here before seeing a show at the theater across the square. Highly recommend! read more

We appreciated our dinner at Tasca Tasca. Especially enjoyable were the goat stew, ceviche, smoked duck, & mango sorbet. Our waiter was knowledgeable & helpful in recommending options. read more

I was really excited to come here. I was hoping to try some new flavors. The ceviche had too much lime, it overpowered the rest of the flavor. The cheese and meats were kinda basic. Pork sliders tasted straight out of a family barbecue. The empanadas were also so salty. The steak tartare really, hurt the most. The color was not right, neither of us touched it and we were surprised that it was served. It looked like half cooked meat with a grayish tint. I'm disappointed because a lot of people said they liked this place. I'm hoping it was just an off night, but it was really off. read more

Make this your first stop in downtown Sonoma. The food, the service, and the presentation were all phenomenal. It made me feel like I was back in Europe - and at an affordable price too! Loved every second of the experience. Great wine and cocktail selection too! read more

Stopped in based on the menu of Portuguese tapas and was not disappointed! We chose the 7 items for a set price and enjoyed every choice we made. The cheese was great after a little wine tasting. The fried empanadas were excellent as well as the beet salad. Staff was super friendly and service was prompt. I'd return when in Sonoma again! read more

My family came here for lunch Labor Day Weekend. I've had Spanish Tapas before but this was my first time trying Portuguese tapas. I was especially excited since I recently found out from a DNA test that I'm part Portuguese haha. We ordered several tapas for our family to share and there was more than enough to go around for our party of 6. Highlights include Portuguese mac & cheese with linguica, bacalhau, Dungeness crab empanadas, pork sliders etc. Everything we had tasted great! Perfect place to come with a large group! read more

We sat outside on the 2 tops to enjoy the weather. A server came out and brought us menus and water. Another server came, I can't remember his name but he worked mainly behind the bar, chubby guy and he had the best attitude. He spotted our dot on how the menu worked so he explained. You have the option to order 3 things, 5 or 7 things from the menu and obviously just a single thing. We went with 7 and I think it was $62. Blue cheese & apple, Mac n cheese (Portuguese) style, shrimp empanadas, bachalao cakes, ceviche, beef tartar, Piri Piri potatoes. We enjoyed all items but our favorites were, beef tartar, shrimp empanadas, bachalao cakes! Again all of it was delicious! We had a flight of Tawny but it was too darn sweet for us. Nonetheless we enjoyed ourselves, the server even gave other restaurant recommendations in the area too. I will definitely come back! read more

If you are in the mood to try more dishes to taste at one sitting, this place offers variety, quality and a very reasonable price for what you get. I'm not an expert on Portuguese cuisine, but the flavors are similar to my native Italian upbringing. Items such as Tripe, Goat Stew, Blood Sausage and Bacalhau are a welcomed treat. The ordering tasting menus are also interesting since you can choose from 3 items $28, 5 items $45, or what we selected for two people, the 7 items at $62, which was more than enough for us. We left full and very satisfied with our selection. Finished everything off with a nice Madeira. Attentive service at the bar. I'd recommend after an afternoon of wine tasting at Obsidian, just around the corner. Douglas directed us this way. Thx go out to him as well. read more

Located in the heart of Sonoma, they have a good size menu filled with shareable bites. We were a group of four and seated pretty quickly. As oyster lovers we got a dozen, served in small plates of three over salt, not ice. It was a very warm day so unfortunately they were not as cold as should be which took away from the experience. We ordered a few other small items but I can't say anything was amazing or stood out. I enjoyed the wine but in a town full of wine there are many other places to check out. read more

Superb Portuguese tapas spot, always with great selection of tapas, offered at 'sets' of 5 dishes and above. Can pick and choose what you like in your set and can almost guarantee that you'll walk away satisfied. Highly suggest to get the pig ears, some empanadas, a soup, and something with bread (either a cheesy toast or pork slider). Be sure to leave room for dessert as they've got some great homemade ice cream too! Wine selection is teriffic as well as Portuguese options are aplenty and pours are generous. Overall, great money for value, good for lunch or dinner! read more

This was recommended by our host/sommelier at Brown Downtown, and we wanted tapas for our birthday! It's actually Portuguese, and we usu think of sangria when we think of tapas, but they didn't have any. It's just as well, I was feeling chilled, so I had hot tea and water to drink. (The sparkling wine/champagne from Domaine Carreros was still buzzing in my head too!) We walked in and were seated right away. We wanted small bites, so we got kale salad, Chouriçinhos (sausages), smoked duck breast and fried peri-peri potatoes (like Nando's). Everything was good and in good portions. We mentioned it being our birthday, but again, no singing or free dessert, which is fine, we're adults. For dessert we had a AMAZING chocolate tart and olive oil ice cream. I KNOW right?? I usually wouldn't get ice cream with no sugar flavor, but this was quite good, esp with something rich like the tart. It was moderately full for a Tuesday evening, but service was a little spotty in that sometimes we had more than one person approach our table, but some attention is better than none, right? I'd go back when it's warm to see if we can sit outside; or try to find a Portuguese place here in Chicago read more

Having visited many times over the years I still get excited to experience the Azores food locally. Tapas style tasty bits that both interesting and full of flavor! You can order 3, 5 or 7 dishes at a time to try many while having Vinho Verde (light refreshing Portuguese white white) that is the perfect pairing for an afternoon of wine tasting nearby! We did the 7 course tasting (order is ranking) and a cocktail. We'd recommend 1-4 and skip the rest. 1. Goat stew: yummy off the bone. 2. Honeycomb tripe: does not have either the texture or flavors of tripe (which is a huge challenge to accomplish) 3. Portuguese golden daisy: first time having brandymel. We only regret didn't try the brandymel on its own. 4. Steak tartare: I didn't like it at first but loved it with the mustard and cornichons. 5. Cinnamon flan: velvety and cinnamon-y. 6.. Duck: tastes like ham with duck textures 7. Cod cakes: meh 8. Truffle potatoes: not the best way to cook potatoes, I like the butter tho read more

We ordered a variety of tapas, and each one was delicious! The fried pig ears didn't make it into the picture, but they were the best tapa I had yesterday, followed closely by the morcela and the mac and cheese with linguiça. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection! The flan was also great, especially paired with a Porto flight. Our server was a superstar--she was incredibly busy but still managed to provide excellent service to everyone. The decor is warm and inviting, making for a wonderful dining experience. read more

We dine out in Sonoma quite often and had never tried Tasca Tasca. We made it a point on a Wednesday afternoon to give it a try. The ambiance is pleasant but there was only one other couple in the restaurant at lunch time. We had our choice of tables and sat against the wall away from the door. It's a narrow space with the exposed kitchen at the far end. This is a Portuguese tapas restaurant but the majority of the staff were Latino. I'm noting this because I had extensive conversations with our waitress about some of the items on the menu inquiring how they compared to Mexican dishes. The staff is friendly and not overbearing. When the bill came I had double changed for several item thus doubling the total. It something in my view the waitress should have noticed before presenting the bill since the difference was over $100! So make sure you check your bill or wind up with a big surprise when you review your charges at the end of the month. We had just returned from Portugal and we are not fans of Portuguese wine which they carry exclusively. We brought our own wine. The corkage fee is $25! There was only one other couple in the restaurant but it took 15 minutes for the food to arrive. In ordering I wanted to try the pigs ears. I asked how they compared to Chicharones( fried pig rinds) and she said they were thinly sliced and not crispy and airy like chicharones. She was correct. She warned us to eat them when they arrived because if left to sit for awhile they will get chewy. She was correct again and they were tasty with a carmelized finish but they did become close to leather as time went by. There is something to be said for tough as a pigs ears! You've been warned. We also had a long discussion about "arose con leche " like my Mexican Grandmother used to make vs the rice pudding they were offering. She suggested they were similar but clearly she never had my Grammy's. It was dry and the rice was not well cooked. The pulled pork was nothing special and seasoned like any other BBQ nothing Portuguese about it. The Shrimp empanadas were the best of the tapas. The sardine patté was average if I had it to do over I would have had the white sardines. The beet salad was fresh but nothing special. It might have been an off day but I won't be back. Sonoma has so many other better choices. I would give it two stars on authenticity. read more

The appetizer plate was a solid sampler but it didn't pair well with the wine... we're in wine country so a good pairing would have been awesome but I get it, they're not a winery. The service was a little spotty, it wasn't to busy and I could see the staff talking to each other. Once they did come to our table they were attentive though. Because this place is not on the main square it's not as busy so you can get a table but it's not busy for a reason. The food was pretty mid and the drinks were pretty stiff. More of a quick bite with friends not with kids. The tables are really close together so if you have hips good luck trying to walk through. read more

Sangria was de-li-cious! Between the three of us, we ordered a seven + three course menu, which was enough. We didn't think it was going to be enough food at first, but we started to get full after devouring the first tasting menu. Though now looking back at it, we probably should've gotten a seven + five so we could've tried more desserts. Such a fun experience choosing from so many tapas on their menu! The food was overall pretty solid, although some items were definitely better than others. There's something for everybody here. As a party of 2, we ordered 10 items. This ended up being a good amount for us and we left content (but not totally full). My favorites of the night were: * Boquerones - Hard boiled egg served with the anchovies were a little too hard boiled but does compliment the saltiness of the fish. * Dungeness Crab Empanadas - Packed with crab and perfectly crispy. Staff were friendly. Space is cozy and lively while we were there during the dinner rush. We made a reservation but still had to wait about 10 min before we got seated. If I'm ever in Sonoma, I would definitely consider visiting again. I'm just looking over the menu again and there are so many other things I still want to try! read more

This might be the best "restaurant with excellent food" value in all of Sonoma. Maybe even in Sonoma County. The food was excellent, the service was fast, efficient and unobtrusive and we really like the rustic vibe in the small space. Four of us had 14 plates and a bottle of wine and the total, including a $40 tip was $200. Unheard of in Sonoma County. The dishes were all great and the wine, a bottle of the Santos De Casa reminded me of the rustic and robust wine I had decades ago in Portugal. I love the style but some who prefer less robust wines may not but we all thought it delicious. We will most definitely return. I think I prefer it to the more "fine dining" sister restaurant La Salette which is also excellent. read more

Our travels took us to Sonoma, CA the past few days. After seeing the reviews of this Portuguese restaurant we had to try it. We made reservations and were promptly welcomed and seated. The dining room is a little cramped and noise is about medium level. Upon being seated, our server immediately came over and took our drink orders while also explaining how their menu works. You select 3, 5, or 7 entrees to come up and share. They have a ton of interesting choices, but we felt very rushed to make a decision on what we wanted... and you have to order all your selections at one time. The house wine was a typical red wine, nothing special. We went with the fingerling potatoes that have garlic and ham, escargot, goat stew, peppers, and crab empanadas. The crab empanadas were tasty and crunchy in my opinion, but my better half thought they were too tough and didn't care for them. Both of us were not impressed by the escargot. It was my first time trying it but she has and she didn't care for it. The garlic brith was good but the escargot was lacking flavor. The garlic fingerling potatoes were delicious and soft! Goat stew was very tender and of a pot roast consistency,m. We both liked the peppers with little sausages, but watch out ... some are very hot due to seeds in the peppers. The chicken wings were good but... they were just chicken wings. Overall, the experience was different and nice, the ambiance was good but the food was either a hit or a complete miss. It was good for a once or twice read more
