Awful experience! I never write bad reviews, but the store was a mess... I couldn't find anything I can usually find in a TARGET... and I had trouble buying wine... my out of state ID wouldn't scan or something... I'm 26, I've never had trouble buying wine at any other Target EVER. My boyfriend who has a MA license, who's 30 had the same problem...they wouldn't sell the wine to him either... when he's bought wine at that same Target before... VERY frustrating... I always end up getting more things here than I originally planned for... case in point: the last time I stopped by, I got a shower curtain liner (needed), and an effing whale faucet cover (def NOT needed, but oh-so-adorable that I had to get it... plus it was on sale... plus I feel like I'm in a maritime marvel every time I am in the bathroom now). There's a TON of stuff here, but I have found that sometimes when I'm looking for something in particular that this specific store doesn't carry it, so I have to resort calling another store to hold it for me. Not a huge deal, but given its gargantuan size, you'd think they'd be a bit better stocked (or more consistently stocked or something). It's definitely a little crazy around the parking lot and inside the store in general, but if you come during the day or during off-peak hours, it's not so bad. Just think of it as navigating an urban (ish...) jungle. Kinda fun if you think of it that way. As far as Targets go, this one is sorta middle-of-the-road. It's not as bad as the one in E. Somerville, but not as good as the one in Everett. It is under construction right now (expansion? anyone know?). It's the closest Target to my apartment in Brighton and I have to stop there probably once a week for something. As with every Target, I always tell people to stay away from buying electronics there. They always broke, if they are not defective right out of the box. Over the past year and a half, I've had two DVD players, a microwave, and an ice cream maker all die. If you need Tassimo refills, seasons 1-10 of Friends (don't laugh!), or t-shirts, the place is fine. It's cheap, it's easy, it's Target. Parking has never been an issue for me there. I go in the main entrance from Arsenal St., turn right, then go all the way to the end of the lot, almost to Friendly's (sp?). Then go down the aisle there and you'll have no problem finding a spot and it isn't as crowded. read more

Targets in general are so useful that I keep shopping at this one even though I hate it. At this location is always loud, crazy, pandemonium, with many items out of stock and perpetual construction referenced by others. The parking lot IS always packed and the shoppers like to run in front of cars, which makes life stressful. Along with that comes cheap, useful items and a relatively convenient location, which is why I keep going back. On the clothes: The low prices are a lie. You may get a "wicked cheap" cute outfit that looks designer, but don't be fooled -- the dye is going to wash out of those shorts, and the top you think is so cute will have a hole right in the middle of the stomach before the end of the season (with light wear, too!!) Sometimes there's a reason you think it's too good to be true. On the bras: They are better-constructed than the trendy clothes, and at 10 bucks a pop for a special-occasion number (such as strapless) -- how can you argue? I am currently pitting one I got here against a much higher end number. May the best lady-garment win! Updates to follow. On the home goods/general merch: This is a decent all-purpose store for electronics, hardware stuff, and miscellaneous things for the home. The electronics accessories prices are just as high as the blue store in the same parking lot - so better to buy online if you can. Short of joining a membership based wholesale store, this is the best place to buy your trash bags and cleaning supplies. For city living, this is a necessity but not a pleasure. I just wish it was easier to reach by public transit! read more

Hello SUPER Target! I think I'm in love. I had a very strange day out with a friend who was visiting a few months ago. We definitely were shopping, on black Friday (very unlike us), and ended up here. We easily found a parking space, which is amazing cause the lot is usually a madhouse, especially Black Friday, what was I thinking!? We walked in, ordered our Starbucks drinks, grabbed a cart, and joined in the chaos. There were children screaming and people on phones randomly pushing carriages every which way, not really paying attention. The one thing I dislike about Target is I lose almost all my self control (or what I had left of it) and end up buying WAY too many things that I don't need here. I like to buy cleaning supplies here, and I am a sucker for mirrors, organizers of ANY TYPE, and cards, I have bought loads and loads of cards here. They have a good selection of jewelry and handbags at the greatlands now. And scarves, I have recently become addicted to buying scarves, Target takes care of that too. I always find PJs and boxers for my boyfriend here, he's kind of picky and likes to wear all cotton, blah blah blah, but since I steal them on the reg, I like to pick them out, and well... cotton is softer. I won't argue on that point. They also seem to have more sports related clothing than many other stores of this kind around here. I have found nice Bruins shirts (in the men's section) and Sox apparel too. read more

I've been to a lot of targets all over the coutry, and I have to say this is the worst. I don't know what it is, but there's something about this one that is just baffling. There doesn't seem to be any sort of logic behind where things are placed in relation to one another, it's like the stock people just threw things around randomly without rhyme or reason. I'm not a super Target fan to begin with, but it's a good place to get affordable and decent quality stuff. But I won't be going back to this location again. read more

Bad. Bad in the sense that I actually have grown to dread shopping here. It's a slovenly mess waiting to happen. The cashiers talk about some super random stuff sometimes. To the point where I've felt a tad uncomfortable hearing this stuff. A couple of the people that I've run into there were quite nice, but for the most part, I really get this cold and antiseptic feel from the place. About the only reason I do go is because the items are cheap. Little things like the necessities. After it's recent expansion that devoured most of the Watertown Mall, this Target is now really huge and has a large section of mostly unhealthy food. Only rates two of my stars because the larger the store, the fewer independent alternatives there are for shoppers. The renovation included a complete overhaul of the parking lot, but it's still totally unfriendly to anyone who doesn't get there by car. Wal-Mart alternative, but not quite as offensive. They are doing some CRAZY construction in the parking lot - moreso than usual. Generally whenever I go to Target, I expect to escape approximately 2-3 potential car wrecks. Today I couldn't turn my steering wheel fast enough - not to even mention i was almost hit WALKING about four times. Absurd. If you can, avoid the mess until the construction is over. The actual store isn't too bad - a standard Target, nothing to write home about. It's on the smaller side, and you have to compete with every BC/BU/Northeastern/Simmons/younametheschool student and parent. College '08 stuff is already out and I kid you not, some girl and her mom were clearing out the stackable storage aisle. So why go? It's target. Great prices, great variety. I can get woven wheats, a book, washcloths, a Swiffer, and a margarita machine in one stop. Brilliant. Not so brilliant? Not the sort of place to go if you have no self control. As far as Targets go I have experienced much better. This store is commonly out of everyday items, lines are super long and the staff are unfriendly. What annoys me the most is there wedding registry system. This is one of the places we registered. Not only did the gun thing not save our items and I had to redo it at home later they are also really mean when it comes to returning things. Things that I could prove where bought there from them. Not to mention they where the ones who screwed up since I received 4 of the same Tupperware at my shower! read more

I give 5 stars to Phil or Philip at electronics department when I wanted a quicker checkout. I was shopping around for a speaker and he suggested the small Altec speaker and I love it so I went back another time to buy an extra one for my BF. He also helped me get more savings through cartwheel and that there were actually wifi at the store which I didn't know about all these years. Now I won't be lost. He is very friendly and alert to all customers. Thumbs up for him. But I didn't like Sally at the front checkout before so I went to electronics. Received much better service. Sally was just childish, rude, impatient and it showed all over her face. Annoying kid. David or Dave is very nice at grocery. One time he showed me about texting a code to get more savings. I always pick up milk from here. The most disgusting is the restrooms!!! Why does all Target restrooms smell like that? You sell Febreeze so spray in there!!! This store has the dirtiest restrooms. I'm with Kathleen M. on this one...what's with the carts and the dopes who don't have the self-awareness to move? She's right too, I've gotten the "glare n stare" when I've mustered the nerve to utter a hesitant, but polite "excuse me...." then there was the time that a Target employee pulling a huge cart heavy boxes rammed my cart and just missed crushing my 9 month old daughter's fingers...uh, HELLLOOOO. Okay, here's one more...the lady who accosted me in the parking lot when I was pregnant and pulling my 1 1/2 yo son out his car seat. My belly hit my car door and literally touched hers..can you say PSYCHO. ( I still wonder where these demented broad went). On the other hand, this Target is very convenient to my house, and I'm in the market for diapers and butt wipers, what's a girl to do? Where else can I get out for a quick shop in a baseball cap and some nasty old jeans covered in baby food and god knows what else. So, to sum it all up...people at Target = Bad. Target has a nice selection of items, if you're looking to do all your shopping in once place. I was impressed with their toy selection, and I love the fact that they have lots of Hello Kitty items. However, this Target is kind of a mess. The aisles are too narrow, stuff is always in the wrong place, which makes it hard to find out how much something costs (unless you're near a price scanner). Also, the salespeople here aren't very helpful. I've asked for help finding something many times, only to get a "Duuuuuuuuuuh" response from whomever is on the floor. Two is pretty generous. This Target is often out of stock of brand makeup, common clothing sizes, or it just hates me and is always out of what I need. It's a mess and unorganized. To make matters worse, it is so packed because its one of the few Targets in the area. Even even if you know exactly what you want and they do happen to be in stock you can't get to it because moms their kids and often the entire friggen family goes on an outing to gawk at things, awkwardly blocking the isles. It is infuriating when you are just trying to pick up few essentails and can't even get to your isle in less than 5 minutes. Target is great, but this one is the target from hell. read more

I feel like Target did a major bait and switch, rather effectively branding themselves as the stylish, hip alternative to WalMart, etc., and then just kind of turning into WalMart, etc., once they'd won that certain section of the population over. That said, they're pretty cheap, and this location is pretty convenient to my Brighton home. Plus you do tend to find crap you didn't know you wanted that you really don't need but you go ahead and get anyhow, like the collapseable nylon tunnel I got for our cats last time I was there, or the four boxes of Morningstar breakfast soysage I picked up last summer because Stop and Shop is so often out of it. read more

Definitely the worst target in the area, as others have said. Horribly disorganized and completely unhelpful staff. If you are able to go to literally any other Target, please do. Don't give this one any money. Even doing order pick up with them is horrible because they'll never actually have everything ready for you when they say they do and you'll wait there for 30 minutes while some poor guy runs around the store finding your stuff. I'd give it more stars but this target is always trashed. I've spoken to the general manager, who got on the walkie-talkie and told someone to clean up outside because trash was blowing all over the lot. I left the store about 45 minutes later to see all the trash blowing around and all the garbage cans overflowing. It's the same thing at the inside the store where they're supposed to be wipes for the carts. The trash receptacles there are always overflowing and they just pile up garbage and boxes on the floor around them. It's disgusting. I talked to the manager again that night, but nothing has been done. The manager blames the cleaning company. So get a new cleaning company! They should be cited for littering. read more

I was so excited when our Target started selling beer and wine. Makes shopping with a toddler so much easier. Yesterday I went in as usual, picked up everything I needed (including a few bottles of wine), waited in the long check out line and when I got up to pay I was told by the cashier I couldn't purchase my wine from that lane! What!? You want me to wait in another line just for the wine? No lanes were labeled that way. I can't believe it!! I left the wine behind and purchased it at another store. I shop here a lot. Too much. Think I may have a problem Besides them always moving things around the place is decent. But I have to say the Asian cashier is the rudest man I have ever experienced as a cashier. Anywhere. . I try to avoid his line after he gave me a hard time awhile back But sometimes there is no choice. I said hello how are you? He grunted as usual. Seemed extremely annoyed at the fact I had a lot of stuff. Or maybe that I was shopping there at all. Threw things around and yelled at my bf because he picked up a case of water and instead of just scanning he insisted we put the water in the cart and push it over to him. He is ridiculous. He's worked there forever too. I know this area in general isn't the friendliest. But this is guy is ridiculous. He's angry, disgruntled, and very unpleasant. Ok the Starbucks here is terrible. Miserable ypung lady told me that she could not make me a Frappuccino because She was cleaning that area. Wow, it's rare that I read so many 3-star reviews that say that a store has everything but sucks. If you read some of the recent reviews and then looked at how many stars they give this store, there is something strange going on. Look, this place isn't a Target Store. It's really a Super Target. The place is huge and it has a ton of products in there. A lot of reviewers have complained that they go into the store and none of the employees ask if they need help. Seriously? This isn't a department store where you are paying premium prices so the place can hire enough people to ask you if you need help. Let's be real, wouldn't we all rather pay less even if it meant that we had to spend a bit more time looking around for something? And that doesn't mean that everything here is cheaper than at other places. Some things aren't. That's why we have smartphones. And if you don't have a smartphone, then you have something called "pen and paper" to write down the prices and compare them to other places. When I go into a place like Target, I care about three things: good selection of items, decent prices, and an efficient checkout system. This Target store has all of them, so I give it five stars. Are there are a lot of people there? Absolutely. But guess what? That's why they have a wide selection of stuff there. If fewer people went there, then the store would have to cut back on its selection and just stock the most widely demanded stuff. It's the same problem you have to deal with at Market Basket or at Russo's. Is the parking lot full? Absolutely, because most people drive there. Will your car get damaged (e.g. keyed, dented by a door from an adjacent car, fender bended, etc.)? Probably. Should they have painted the parking spaces to be wider? Probably. Should single people or those with just 1 child stop driving SUV's, vans, and trucks that take up more volume in a parking space? Definitely (unless you absolutely believe that your personal comfort takes precedent over the fate of this planet as global warming accelerates. Then in that case, you can complain about small parking spaces and how your Mercedes G-Class SUV/tank is constantly getting scratched in parking lots). Does this parking lot tend to have a noticeable rate of thefts? Yes. But guess what? It's still nothing compared to what happens when you try to park at the parking lot in Porter Square. Despite all the green technology that the Porter Square Mall (the mall with the Star Market in it) has, the parking spaces are so narrow that the only thing you can feel comfortable parking in the parking spaces there is a bicycle. So, this Target's parking lot isn't so bad. Ah yes, I'm an eternal optimist. As for employee conditions, I don't know, and I'm not sure that it's something that should be addressed on Yelp. Isn't this site supposed to be talking about the consumer experience? If we're going to start knocking off stars in our reviews because we don't like the business practices of a place, then all of us are going to have to start downgrading most of the reviews we've written for ethnic restaurants which use cheaper non-ethnic cooks. And by the way, that's not saying that a cheaper non-ethnic cook can't do as well as an ethnic cook at an ethnic restaurant. It's possible but not probable. I've seen way too many times where restaurants have done this with bad results. Some of you may disagree, but I'm a pretty highly educated guy, and there's not a chance in hell that I would ever decieve myself into thinking that I could cook Thai food or French food better than trained chefs who grew up eating that food their entire lives. Btw, one other great advantage about going to this Target is that they have one of the last remaining Friendly's restaurants. For someone like me who was born and raised in Boston, there are all sorts of childhood memories about Friendly's (and also Brigham's). So, it's great to go there and give them some support, even though they are not as polished as some other restaurants. But hey, we support Fenway Park, and there's absolutely no way that anyone can tell me that it's as comfortable to sit there (unless you sit in one of the expensive seats) as in a newer ballpark like AT&T Park (home of the SF Giants) or even (gasp) Yankee Stadium. Yeah, that last one pained me to say, but it's all about telling the truth. So, don't believe all the 3-star reviews about this Target. If you like variety and decent prices, go there and revel in being part of the crowd. read more

The redesign of this store has sadly changed "Target run and done" to "Target crawl and stall" :-( What once was a logical grid is now multiple rotaries(!) with less space for carts to maneuver. Good luck finding winter gloves in one location. Now they're strewn over four locations many aisle apart. The sale space, no longer in the back right of the store, looks like a dump. The only viable workaround, if you don't want to waste your time, is to order online, let them assemble your purchases, and pick up your order from customer service. I was so excited to see that the renovations are finally complete (I think). The place feels brighter, bigger and better... Except for the workers! Imagine a busy Saturday around noon-ish (first mistake), and we mostly know what we need (somehow, a second mistake). On the way to the cleaning supplies, we were almost run over by not one, not two, but three workers pushing pallet-wide carts with crap on it to restock (a packed store on a Saturday makes perfect sense to restock the aisles, hello management). We finally get to the aisle we need and a worker, walks in front of the shelves we are looking at and begins making everything look pretty. She continues lining things up to make even the most particular OCD-er happy (while completely standing in our way) up until the point we make a decision, reach around her to get it, when she decides to leave. She then proceeds to leave WHOLE aisle, not just that section of the aisle. Like, did she really have to cut in front of us to make that one spot look pretty and there was no where else for her to be? I was looking through the aisle to see where she went and she was kinda following us and I swear she was going to follow us to our next aisle, just to get in the way again. It shouldn't be this hard... P.S. They double charged us for an item. Score! That meant another trip there to correct the problem. At least the people at Customer Service seem to have it together as the correction was really easy and quick. read more

Security breach qualms aside, this place is the embodiment of a "3" star review. It serves a purpose and I enjoy living within 1.5 miles from it, but it's somewhat expensive and the inside (minus the people) could probably be confused with a Wal-Mart. One stop shopping at its finest! I LOVE Target (the hipper cousin to dowdy Walmart). I always go in with the intention of buying just one or two household items, but I nearly always walk out with about a half dozen more items that I didn't really need, but I thought were just super cute or really cheap (stockin' up). Of course, they cover all the basic household/home goods, but it's the cheap & trendy accessories and affordably priced "designer-label" fashions that keep me happy like a kid in a candy store. Great shoe section too. Sure, the goods aren't going to last you more than a season or two, but at these bargain prices you can get quite the bang for your buck. And I always cruise by the $1 section up front because you can score cheap goodies like adorable gift bags and cosmetic cases. read more

I used to go to this Target frequently because it was the closest one near me, but now I avoid it like the plague. The store is almost always disorganized - merchandise is often in the wrong place. Advertised deals are often not marked in store. If you need help, good luck. Customer service is atrocious. Multiple times I have asked for help and received responses ranging from disdain to outright hostility. (My favorite was asking if there was an item in the back and the employee going two aisles over waiting a couple minutes and coming back to tell me they did not have what I was looking for.) when josh and i moved back to boston, we spent like two grand here, no joke. we got the target card and everything and made a trip at least once a weekend. i don't know what we would have done without it. now that the house is set up, we are there less and less. we still stock up on groceries here sometimes ($2.77 SmartOnes? score!) and get all our paper and cleaning supplies here. when we DO go, however, we need a list, otherwise a quick shopping trip turns into a monstrous shopping trip and a $150 bill (ooh - that pot is so cute and on sale! ooh - funky wine glasses! - ooh i totally need these accents for our bathroom! ooh - this red lamp would look great near the piano! ooh - these dvds are like ten bucks!) its like we are possessed and our eyes have morphed into little red targets. so overall, a GREAT place for day to day items but shop with caution. that cart will get full on its own - i swear. extra points for proximity to best buy, home depot, the gap outlet and my house. read more

This is a very clean target. The popcorn wafts through the air and it is $1.04 for a penny more you can get a soda! That is a deal to me. The parking lot is ample, don't understand the post that says the parking lot is weird. Go early in the morning and you'll get a spot right by the entrance. I usually don't buy clothes from stores like these but I was quite surprised to find really nice sweaters here. Their toys section is the best. The prices are quite good compared to other toy stores. Many times I have come for an item and the entire shelf is empty where the item should be. One time I even looked online to make sure the item was in stock at this location, which it said it was - just to find out from a helpful employee they did not have the item because the item was discontinued! read more

I love Target. However the customer service at this location is TERRIBLE. I visit this Target often, and 3 out of 5 times there is a mistake on my receipt after I check out. When I find a mistake, I have to go to customer service and wait in the usually long line to get it corrected. At checkout, I have more than once ended up with the checkout lady who clearly has no interest in being at work. When I was checking out with her recently, I had an item which had a missing bar code. When she noticed, she stared at me, then asked me if I could get another one. Really? I just waited in line with two screaming children for 15 minutes and now you want me to run back through the store with them to find something? When I asked, "Can you ask someone to get it for me?", she rolled her eyes and asked another employee to grab another one of my items. Was that so hard? I have called the store to check if they have items before, and this experience is worse than actually going to the store! I get passed around to person after person, with no one having any idea what department they work in or what is in that department. Once I called with a simple question as to whether they sold sheets that would fit a crib mattress. Any baby sheets would do. After being on the phone for 30 minutes and being passed around to 4 different people, no one was able to give me an answer! They told me to just come down to the store to see if they have what I was looking for. Again, with two overactive kids to bring with me, I would rather be sure the store has the one item I'm looking for so as not to take a pointless trip. I really want to like this store, but I am going to have to drive a little further and go to a different one from now on due to the mediocre customer service at this location. read more
