Elevators/top floor exits never in order due to theft. I get it but might as well close if your worried about theft all the time. I'm not disabled so I don't need to use the elevator. I'm ALWAYS at this target, like every other day. For years I've had great experiences here until today. I had placed an order online for a coat rack and when I went to pickup, I walked around before going to Order Pickup. I found a larger coat rack that would be more effective. I go to pay. Quick, easy as usual. #9 you're awesome! I proceed to Order Pickup, I let the young lady with short reddish brown hair know that I had an online order I no longer wanted to pick up because I found something more useful. She proceeds to scanning my barcode, then saying she no longer has the item? Ok, I'm not picking it up anyway... she disappears for a couple of minutes and comes back with a large box. I tell her "oh no, no. I've decided not to go with this order anymore, I'd like to return." She then proceeds to tell me "well then you have to take this to Customer Service". I'm like "okaaaay......." walking away slowly and she then throws in "you have to take the box with you". Keep in mind, I'm pushing my infant's stroller with my left hand and pulling a stacked cart with my right hand. Customer Service is RIGHT NEXT to Order Pickup. I look at her and ask "do you mind?" My hands are CLEARLY full. This employee then turns to her coworker and with attitude let's out a "UGH" as she shrugs forward. WOW, are you kidding me? Who put this teenager up front to interact with people at all. Terrible people skills, terrible attention to detail because if she had listened to anything I had said previously, she wouldn't have brought that online order to the front of the store. It only get worse from there. I get to Customer Service Returns/Exchanges and got the pleasure of working with Staci, the employee who likes have customers do the foot work for her only to let them know in the end that the customer is wrong about their purchase details in every way possible. First off, Staci has me pull up the barcode for my purchase. She scans it and says "wrong barcode, it should be the barcode from the pickup confirmation, not the pickup notification. It might take 24hrs until you get the email and I can't do anything until I have that barcode." Ok...... so luckily, I received the pickup confirmation. She proceeds to scan the barcode. She then asks me what the order number is. I'm assuming the barcode did not contain any information this woman could have utilized to figure that out herself. I give her four digits in the email saying Order 2499 ready for pickup. "No, it's much longer than that." She tells me. I take a minute to pull it up in the original email. Found it, read her about 16 digits. Great, now she asks me for the VCD number. I ask her what that is and how is it different from the item number. She then gives me some kind of attitude and I tell her "I don't work here so I really don't know what these numbers are and why I have to go fishing through all my emails for this information." She tells me "if you don't have the VCD number then I can't return the item for you." I then ask her "ok, so you told me you needed the barcode in order to return my item, I've provided you with that. Now you're telling me you need the VCD otherwise you can't take this item back?" Seriously????! I go through my email and voila! VCD number right under the returns barcode she scanned previously. Alright, now she asks me to insert my card that I paid online with. I do as she says, it asks for a PIN number since it's a debit. I enter it in. "Nope, that's a different card." Staci says. I let her know, "no, I paid with THIS card online. It ends in XXXX". She then tells me "I can't see the payment method on my end so there's nothing I can do, it's just the wrong card". I pull up my confirmation email and show her the last four digits alongside the card I have in my hand and she still shrugs and tells me it is the wrong card. WOW. Just WOW. I've never had to ask to speak to someone's supervisor/manager and Staci popped that cherry for me. Even when asking to speak with her supervisor she was talking over me with attitude. The manager comes over, super sweet lady and takes a minute to do the return for me. Awesome. Ok Target, you had two employees I've encountered today that need some extensive training because they lack people skills and common courtesy. I wish I had the other employees name for you that was working online orders around 3pm today, but I don't. Anyhoo- craziest Target experience I've had in my entire life. The San Bruno Target location used be my favorite Target in the peninsula, until tonight; the stench of destitute individuals was unbearable. I was trying hard not to gag, so they wouldn't feel bad but DANG!!! I observed these individuals loitering inside and hanging outside the exit. Target San Bruno is a key location to getting just about anything you may need, from house hold essentials to a wide variety of food assortments including perishables, dry grocery, dairy and frozen items.. (Note) This location is going under major retail rehab, so this may be a bit annoying. Target can be a bit of a pain on busy days, this location doesn't have that many registers like other Target locations and self check out is a option. I love that this store closes at midnight. There have been many nights where I would find myself wondering the aisles around closing time, Lost in the dreadful Target hypnosis. Parking is very convenient being that they have 3 levels and plenty parking around the Mall. The first floor seems to be the busiest. Currently under remodel. Starting to look really nice and spacious. Downstairs is almost finished and I believe they're not working on the upstairs. Checker said that they will now have more checkout lanes upstairs. It's target. The store where if you stay long enough you'll end up buying things you weren't expecting to buy. Employees are generally pretty nice. At least the more seasoned ones. Was able to witness the security in action as a lady was shoplifting... I think Pepperidge farm cookies. I guess the struggle really is real sometimes. I can't wait until the remodel is complete. I hope that they will also get new carts since this location still has the old, old, old carts. read more

If you want a poor experience at Target, head to the electronics dept. where they're clearly customer service deficient and will seem bothered when you ask them any questions. I was looking for a product that showed in stock at the Target app and was unfortunately very unlucky to ask this so called associate there where I can find the item. He seemed annoyed and half assed tried to help me by looking for the product on the scanner and got back to me with the most vague answer possible. He essentially told me "it's in the store, but it's not out." and stopped "helping" me from that point on. Like you might as well say "beats me, its somewhere here." Geez thanks man, thanks for the below minimum wage service. Other than that, this Target is ok for your shopping needs at the location its at. This was one of the rare Target stores in the with the 2 levels back before the early 2010s before Target expanded into the urban areas where there's less land. The newer locations at Geary and Masonic in SF and Oakridge in SJ mimics the design of this location. The problem with it being 2 levels is having to go up and down when you forget something or when you simply don't know which level some items are on. I haven't been inside this location since the beginning of the pandemic, but do recall them remodeling this store around that time, which is very recent. Unfortunately the current state of this store was very depressing. There's a lot of empty shelves and misplaced merchandise all over the store. It also appears they are very short staffed at this location especially on a weekend, so I really feel bad for the team members that are working and hope they're able to increase staffing. I'm guessing the state of the store is also related to Tanforan's owners announcement of the demolition of the mall, but I really hope they keep the Target and Century around, as it's conveniently located near a BART station. There's a lot of room for improvement and hopefully things get sorted out by the management at this store. read more

This store really is like my second home! If we ever need anything and we're unsure where to get it I'm like 'I dunno, let's try Target!' And the best is most of the time they actually have it! My 'go to' place for everything. The location is great - Inside the Tanforan Mall and has loads of parking, can be a bit of a nightmare on Saturday's though. Inside is pretty big and over 2 levels and has pretty much everything you need for the home. The clothing section is pretty good, however I really struggle to find anything in my size.. everything is so big but then the children's section upstairs is a good backup!! (Waiting for our belongings to be shipped form the UK last year it was getting a bit cold and had no jumpers or hoodies - the children's section was an absolute godsend for a few cheap one's until my own arrived). I managed to pick up a few bit's of workout gear the other week too - 3/4 length Carpi's for $10 and 2 Tops one at $5 (down from $10) and another for $7. Bargain! Beats the $70 plus I pay for Nike and fit just as well. The baking section is also one of my favourite stops there as it has such a huge selection. I always stock up on Flour, Sugar, Baking chips ect here and it's all cheaper than any grocery store. Service does have a tendancy to be slow at time's but they're pretty friendly. read more

I love Target. But this location, um, big fat no. Parking: attached to Tanforan Mall, you have to enter the lot from El Camino. Don't try to enter in from any other side of the mall (as I did, frustrating). Finding parking is a nightmare. Disarray: Never have I seen such bad placement and merchandising. What's good is that you can find staff busy on the floors, but they're busy answering "Where's the Kleenex?" questions. Messy: particular in the clothes area, it's like a tornado came thru. Stuff all over the floors and not sorted by size. Inventory: many things I was looking for they were out of, and I found it smaller than most and what I'm used to seeing. Lines: room for 20 cashiers, but only 8 were staffed. Thus, lines were 10 people deep. Not good. There ya go. Five (5) reasons this is one of my least favorite Target's, not a good experience at all. read more

The worst ever!!! I bought 3 $25 gift cards yesterday and I was charged $87. I asked the cashier why it is $87 not $75. He said there is a $4 charge per card. I didn't realize I grabbed the Target MasterCard instead of the regular Target gift cards. The cashier didn't point that out when I asked him about the fees. I asked him if they are returnable and he said yes. I tried to return them for money back today, and the return department said they no longer accepting Target Mastercards return. I spoke with the manager, Chriselle, explained to her that if the cashier didn't tell me they were returnable, I would not complete that transaction yesterday. She didn't even try to check with the cashier who helped me yesterday and just said sorry and there is noting she can do. I truly believe she could have done something but rather not because of laziness. Without even checking with the employee who misled me...the easiest way for her to get out of the situation is the brush me off!!!!! Guess what?? I left Tanforan Target and went to Colma Target, the return department helped me with the return and refund my credit card without asking any question. This is a better location for seniors because you can park close enough & pickup your order fast. I didn't like their pharmacy before because someone in pharmacy used to give negative suggestions. Now that CVS took over it's better managed. This location alternative to other busier locations especially if you just need a few items. This store Usually carries just enough for customer to be curious to buy a few more items than just groceries or health items. It's a shame to see other small & large retailers at this mall fold. This mall was a great place to walk around & just browse or window shop & I hope more stores come back in the future. It would be nice to have another discount store like Daiso or an interesting boutique type of shops that carry unusual products. read more

This review is for Joy who was working in customer service last night around 9pm. Joy helped us with our spur of the moment gender reveal my boyfriend and I decided to have. Initially, the plan was to have dinner and open the ultrasound envelope to find out the sex of our baby. We went to collect the poppers then straight to customer service and found Joy there. We told her we had an unusual request and if she can please help us. I showed her the sealed ultrasound and asked her to please look at it, we will turn around and if she can please select the blue or pink popper, place it in a bag and make sure we don't see! My nervousness turned into excitement when I saw how thrilled she was to help us. Finding out the gender of my first baby here! As we were turned around we could hear her bag the popper up excitedly, she said she was double bagging it and taping it for us. The fact that we had a woman named Joy, who is so sweet, help us find out the gender of our December possible Christmas baby made it that much more special. It was also my birthday. Horrible experience. During the Covid pandemic, as I'm feeling sick and picking up items that include Tylenol, manager, Ashley Greene, said that I should go in to get the items that they didn't add to my pick up order. They do not care about their customers safety or their employees. The items say In Stock online, but they didn't add to my order, they did not check on my order, they simply said they preferred me to go in, "browse around for my item and pay when you pick up your order" Horrible customer service. Don't come here if you're looking for stationary supplies. Most of the Targets in the area are poorly stocked. All I wanted was a cheap single hole punch. Colma Target, despite being the size of 2 football fields, had none. Ditto for Serramonte Target Cross the freeway. This is a Target located within the mall. Everyone in the mall seems to come here and leave the mall alone. It's pretty busy and it's actually one of the most messy Target's I've been to. Almost feels like a Wal-Mart. It's your typical Target and has two floors. Plenty of great products and they do price match which is great in the age of Amazon trying to put everyone and their grandma's out of business. If you need supplies and are in the area, I can't see why stopping here would be a bad idea. read more

The older security with long hair Morgan seen me shopping with my dog and said hey go clean up your dog's poop, I told the security Morgan my dog didn't poop anywhere, and was told to get out the store stupid. I was looking for a manager last night and target workers told me the manager is on lunch. I was wrongfully accused of my dog pooping in the store and was told to get out. At this location (San Bruno), the store is always clean, and most times items are in place. The problem I have is the women's restroom. It is ALWAYS filthy. It is totally unsanitary. I mentioned this to one of the workers, and she pretty much shrugged it off. You can definitely find what you need; just don't have an emergency and have to use the restroom. read more

Is real essential that during the first day of classes Target has many special deals and discounts towards school related activities. This Target is a hot mess. The aisles have loose items that do not belong in that area, common areas are dirty, the checkout lines are inexplicably long all the time and the bathrooms are some of the most disgusting public toilets I've ever seen. And of course, there are plenty of red-shirts hanging about, not working- probably on break. Worst of all, my son had to take care of business during our visit- I probably should have taken Lysol and cleaning wipes from the shelves before I went in. Pretty annoyed with my experience today. Walked into target and made eye contact with the security guard who turns around and immediately starts saying something over his radio. Whatever, not a big deal probably got a call. I've been coming to this Target as a regular for a very long time. Never had any issue. I grab my items, go to checkout, pay, and head towards the elevators to go to the garage. The same security guard who saw me earlier sees me walking from the checkout lanes and as I'm turning to elevator this security guard decided to ask me for my receipt. Um ok, I shop here all the time and each I've been to the store this never happens. So I ask do you think I stole something, and his response was no my boss is here. Wait what? That's your reason, to stop me and ask for my receipt, which is something I didn't see anyone else being ask today or any other day that I've come to this Target location. I'm sure the head of loss prevention has been there other times I've been at this store so why weren't receipts being checked then. Why just me being asked when I left today? I understand stores if policies they follow. It felt like today they were picking and choosing when to enforce that policy and I guess I drew the short straw today. Pretty disappointed if this is the training, or possibly worse, the way loss prevention feels they should be acting. read more

Not a very good Target. I was just here. The inventory was a huge mess and a lot of things were not stocked. The cosmetics area is tiny, confusing, a huge mess and missing basic staples: there was not a single pink or nude lip liner available from any brand. Even the refrigerated food was just randomly jumbled together: the labels didn't match the items and the items didn't match each other. I attempted to try on clothes and was stopped by an extremely rude employee who suggested I needed to leave my purchases from other stores sitting outside unattended. No other store in the mall gave me this kind of "we're doing you a favor by letting you shop here" attitude. There are not adequate self-checkout machines and one was broken, so lines were extremely long. I would *very highly* recommend you make the drive down to San Mateo and go to the Bridgepointe Target instead. This place is awful. read more

I put my order in for online delivery on July 2nd. It's now the 13 th my order was picked complete and has been sitting on the dock waiting to be shipped out since the 5 th. Why are you holding on to customer's orders and not shipping them out. And yes I do know that this comes from a warehouse and not the individual stores. No faith in target. This review is for night time order pick-up. At night, the area for online pickup is closed. I came in around 9:33pm to pickup my stuff and waited in the customer service side. (See photo for reference)their sign is telling customer to wait on right side and returns/exchange is left side. At this time, only 1 clerk is working. There was only 1 customer returning and he never acknowledge I'm on the right side standing on the pickup line. Another clerk is in and out busy putting away some returned plastic containers aside. He helped another customer that came after me and I saw some more people in line for returns side so I walked up and told him I'm here for pickup. He replied that the line is on the left. I told him I've been here before this lady that was here. If you have one line for returns and pickups then they should edit your signage for 1 line and not 2. read more

I came here for their Black Friday Iphone XS deal, which ended up being a horrible experience. People lined up at about 6am to make it to their 7am opening for this deal featured on their ad. When we were taken up to the tech area, everyone was placed on a wait list for their choice of phone and to get their plan activated. There were about a few people on the list ahead of me and only two registers could sign people up. The very first person ended up taking 2 hours so get their phone so that held up the rest of us for quite awhile. When It was finally chance to get it, things were generally straightforward until their signature pad stopped working. They said they had to restart their laptop, which took an additional 20 minutes of waiting even after paying for my phone! Overall, my appointment took 40 minutes just to upgrade one plan and I several Target associates were unsure of many process. Due to their delay, I ended up being late and in trouble for work, which was very aggravating. I didn't have it as bad as other customers though. While others were put on the wait list, they were later informed it was actually just for a "phone preference. This Target may not necessarily have any left since this particular target was considered "low volume" compared to other stores and were told that Emeryville was their next best bet. This store got 17 phones compared to around 200, and this drastic difference doesn't make sense for a Black Friday deal. If you want to shop for something that's potentially limited stock, be wary of coming to this Target. read more

I'm in recovery. Attending M.R.A. (Messy Rooms Anonymous) sessions regularly to get over being messy. Basically these sessions involve records and a little (insert calming activity) to get me siked up for a weekly apartment clean. Personal organization has never been one of my top points (though my resume might claim otherwise) My family has been so acquainted with the old "messy jessy" that it's been a hard journey to make it over to the "clean side". So when I learned my sister was coming to visit this weekend, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to impress. Show her that I've "grown up." It was time to go all out. The first step was "sprucing" up the place with some plants. I already have three plants which thankfully have survived the Jessica touch (trust me many have suffered at my lack of green thumb), but I decided that my bathroom, which rarely gets sun also needed some green. I didn't want any dead plants on my conscience, so I decided plastic plants were the answer. But this revelation came too late, and at 6:30 last night, I learned that fake plants are not so "in" So I went to the holy grail of "random shopping: - Target. Target had to have it. Cause target has everything Um... Yeah - not such the case. I wandered around the store aimlessly looking for plants. Nothing. Not even fresh ones. I asked three Target employees if they had plants. No one knew. Argh. So I decided to shop around aimlessly for other things that I potentially needed. First stop 1.) VCR/TV . No one was there to help me, and when I finally found one I liked, they were none on the shelf. I finally got the attention of a sales guy to ask if they had any in stock. His first question - "so you want one or two?" Confused I held up my index finger "one please." After waiting fifteen minutes, with him nowhere in sight, we grabbed the more expensive one, which they did have and left. 2.) My second stop was pure randomness, paper-towels, socks and everything that I could probably find at Walgreens, but had to buy at Target, to make the trip worth it. 3.) I went back to the plants search, only to finally learn they had none. NONE. Target used to get me. It made me want to own a dining room, a guest room, a patio...a car. It made me want to camp.
