This is the closest Target so go to it frequently by default. The store itself is usually clean and stocked. But the off chance of needed a staff member in the aisles they're not to be found. The layout is a bit strange. Since the upstairs is closed off to parking and the mall. You can only park downstairs or enter through first level mall side. Went into the store on 4/26/26 from around 9:15 - 9:45 am. Saw a woman with her dog (a non service animal). Went to the travel section for toiletries and saw three opened/stolen items, despite several cameras above that aisle. There wasn't a security guard at the entrance where they normally are to tell the woman about the dog, and I noticed no other employees noticed either. Before I left I mentioned all this to the woman at Guest Services (who would've/should've seen the woman and her dog. She had no answer to that or the stolen items and lack of security. read more

A Black woman experienced racially and appearance-based profiling at Target, 1150 El Camino Real, San Bruno. From the moment she entered, employees Jalissa and Angel were laughing at the entrance. Angel, who also serves as security, followed her into the fitting room area, scanning as if searching for her. Meanwhile, other customers--a white man and a white woman --were left unmonitored, while an older Filipino man in a navy vest and olive shirt repeatedly appeared near her. She felt intimidated, surveilled, and singled out because of her race and appearance, which left her flustered, upset, and gave her a headache during a routine shopping trip. When she raised concerns security manager Jalissa dismissively said, "that's his job." Additional security personnel were observed as she exited, reinforcing the constant surveillance. This raises serious concerns under California civil rights laws, including the Unruh Civil Rights Act and Ralph/Bane Act, which prohibit discrimination and intimidation in public businesses. read more

Target is a great place to get over-the-counter meds at a reasonable price. Stopped by and got what we needed, and staff was nearby to open the clear case. Plentiful covered parking at this spacious Tanforan store with two floors and connected to the mall. Convenient location right off 380. We usually use the self-checkout which is always an efficient experience. read more

It's been a while since we were in that area. I should have written my review sooner. As I recall, we had stopped in quickly after leaving our grandson and his girlfriend after meeting them for lunch. We were looking for a couple of items and this Target was close by. Ah, now I remember - I was looking for a charging cord for my Fitbit watch. We were confused by the parking situation, and it was raining. We parked on the top deck of the parking structure and entered at that level. Took an elevator to the ground floor, then asked for directions to get to small electronics. After wandering around, we finally made it to the right department. And they didn't have the needed item; they don't carry them at all. That was the second store that we'd tried. Apparently, this is not something one can readily buy in the real world anymore - you have to be prepared to order online and wait for delivery. Joy! This store was sprawling over multiple floors. The merchandising didn't make much of an impact on me as we were in a time crunch. We did pick up a few snacks to hit the road with as we had a long drive in front of us. First impressions, it wouldn't be approaching my favorite Target locations. The odd parking situation didn't help. And not being able to find what I was seeking. read more

It's a decent size store, pretty organized. As I was shopping, a lot of the employees were restocking, which I thought was cool. They don't really help or greet people, but they are there. I recommend that when shopping for grocery items, be sure to double-check the expiration dates. They had a few expired items or nearing expiration. I didn't see a lot of sales here. Restrooms are decent but in major need of attention. People working there just looked so miserable. I went to a cashier who wasn't busy, and he sighed like I was bothering him. read more

Is this the oldest, dankest Target store in existence? There's another Target within spitting distance so it's a mystery why they're putting any money into this location. Nobody in their right mind would make this destination retail unless you were a PA scouting for a slasher movie: (Scene: Big box store in the back of an old mall, .7 miles from the main entrance, abutting a dark, concrete covered parking structure) But I had an appointment for a COVID shot at the CVS inside this Target. I picked up a couple of items while impatiently waiting my 15 minutes post-vax to leave. The folks who worked for both at CVS and Target were polite and helpful though. read more

I went to the electronics section to buy a new wristband for my Apple watch. I made the purchase and then realized that it was too big for my wrist. Michael, Sarah, and Natalie were so awesome and they guided me through the steps to shorten the length of the band. Target should feel lucky that they have such amazing employees. This is the worst most complicated target to get into I have ever seen. Multiple entries with signs on the doors saying This entrance closed although literally you could walk right through the door and be inside Target. Elevators to parking is. Whereas some Target stores you just pull up in the lot go and get what you want and leave, this Target store requires at least 20 minutes commitment for simply getting into the store. The reason for two stars, not one, once you get in the store it's a relatively nice store. Although layout is very confusing spread over two floors. I stopped here hoping to pick something up quick and ended up spending more than 40 minutes. read more

As of 12/12/25 my husband and I experienced the worst situation ever, my husband was aggressively stopped at the exit by security claiming he had shoplifted a blender, when we tried to provide them with a receipt they refused to even look at it and said it was not necessary they didn't cared that we had our 8month old baby with us, they aggressively took him into the office and when they were ready to write his information down my husband asked for the receipt and he made the look at it and that's when they realized they had fkd up. They should trained this stupid people better. read more

11/13/2022: I bought this tent specifically for picnicking and beach camping; however, the zipper's stitching is ALREADY unraveling, i.e., I JUST bought the tent this afternoon, set the tent up yet, I must NOW return this tent! Seriously, I must hop onto my soapbox complaining where's the QC-QUALITY CONTROL???? Geez~Anyone buying a tent KNOWS a tent isn't a tent without an operable zipper closing the main tent door! I need security makes you feel uncomfortable & looks at you the wrong way. And way too stuck up & honestly don't feel like it's not a welcome place like it used to be. The option for a Drive Up pickup is convenient but... Target's execution is lacking. Their guest service members don't stick around long enough for customers to open the delivered bag(s) and ensure all items are present, let alone to confirm if the conditions of said items are satisfactory. Once the Target employee leaves and closes out a mobile order, it becomes a hassle for customers to fix an issue in app/online (i.e., all my personal experiences at this location: missing merchandise, wrong size, expired food, spoiled perishable not kept at the appropriate temp before pickup, etc.). If issues aren't apparent until after driving away, this now means additional time spent via phone call or online chat with a rep. Or coming back and going in store. Going in-store to rectify what could have been avoided during the drive up process which defeats the entire purpose of what should have been a quick curbside pickup. A cumbersome shopping experience that could be avoided if guest services members just give customers an additional 10-second courtesy to ask if the order is satisfactory and allowing customers the opportunity to verify if the order is good/accurate before taking off. (Also gave this exact same feedback in all the customer surveys that I received from Target but improvement remains to be seen. Meanwhile, if items are in stock at Daly City or Colma I much prefer those locations for a better experience.) read more

Literally such a sucky store. Every thing good that people need is locked up. For example a $22 moisturizer. I came to target for this one thing and it was locked. (Which whatever, we live in Commie California so understandable.) the problem is I clicked the button 3 times waiting there for someone to come and open the locked boxes. Then nothing after 5 minutes so I walked around looking for someone. 3 aisles over there were 2 target employees restocking shelves and I asked them to open it and they said "I'll call someone." Target employees kept walking by and nothing so I said F it target doesn't get my money and left without spending a dollar. Gross nasty place too. read more

The Tanforan store is unbearably hot uncomfortable and understaffed. It's difficult to get any assistance taking more than a minute or two because the remaining staff have a ton of other things to do. Some are nice and tell me this, some are downright rude. I found some nice things, but the prices were high and the service was low. And did I mention that the store was extremely hot and uncomfortable? I have permanent damage to my back and I was carrying something too heavy for me and it was really starting to hurt, and I didn't know where the carts were. An employee I asked said to follow the main path to the carts and I had no idea what the hell she was talking about. I told her I was directionally dyslexic and asked her to show me. She refused, pointed out a finger in the air and said, "It's that way." Then she walked off to do more important things than helping a customer. I ended up finding another customer who also didn't know and had only a few things in his cart. I ended up talking him into giving it to me. I'm glad that I at least found a kind customer to help me out. I also dislike the way that stores are trying to force us all into the self checkout. You aren't paying me and I have a bad back. All of you stores can just forget about me doing the work for you. All in all, I found the experience here hot , exhausting, frustrating and uncomfortable. I seriously doubt that I will come back to this store again. It's too much money and trouble for too little benefit. read more

Granted I visited during the 5 o'clock rush but either way I ended up waiting 20 minutes debating if I should just walk in to pick up my order. Concerned I might miss them I ended up waiting. If you're in a rush definitely go in or be ready to be patient. My experience with my local target isn't the same so I was a little bummed out by that. read more

1 Star for their policies and lack of Management flexibility to do the right thing. I bought a LogiTech Mouse on May 1st. Found out that I didn't really need it after all, and I had not even opened the sealed bubble-plastic package. Went to return it on June 25th. I was told that I couldn't return it because it was a Tech Item and I only had 30 days to return. Asked for a Manager, in hopes that he or she would give me a break. Nope. "The computer system will not allow me to give you a refund because it is past the expiration date." Really? You cannot override the system and make an exception here? "No, because the computer won't let me do it." So, my takeaways on this are... Yes, I know that the expiration date was printed on the receipt, although truthfully, I never noticed it until I actually went to return it. Yes, I know that there is a reason why MOST Tech things have an expiration date for returns. This usually pertains to software which can fall out of compatibility over time and some hardware that may also fall out of update/upgrade status. However, this is a freakin' mouse! It was the same mouse five years ago, and probably will be the same mouse within the next several years. And it was completely sealed! NEVER OPENED! PUT BACK ON THE SHELF READY! So, my main reasons for this beef are two-fold. 1. Consumers BEWARE! Target has a no-give return policy... it's on you to be aware of that expiration date! 2. Shame on you Target! you have a no-give return policy. Forget about Customer Service... management will not even try to make you happy, and they will simply blame their lack of ability to help you on the Store's Computer System. Final result... the next time you need a piece of electronic/tech gear, go to Costco. I've never had an issue there when I've needed to return a product. read more

When I moved to California in 1984, I rented an apartment in nearby Belmont. All I knew about Tanforan was that it was a former racetrack and it was the site of an internment camp in 1942, in which some 8,000 Bay Area Japanese Americans were detained and processed for forced relocation. And in that present time, it was large shopping mall that I pretty much skipped over. Fast forward to the beginning of this month, when Gayle needed to buy a hair dryer for our next Earthwatch adventure in South Africa (pre-Omicron). And never mind that later, our camp's electrical grid wouldn't allow its use. But then, shopping is half the fun, right? I found that the Tanforan mall had changed quite a bit over the years, and perhaps the site of an old Macy's or Emporium had been transformed into huge Target. Even after entering the huge Tanforan property, finding Target was a bit of a challenge, including a longish drive to the other side of the mall and navigating the legacy parking lot next to the Store. Once inside, it was complete disorientation for both of us, starting with the cheery Target employee handing us a brochure encouraging anyone to apply for a job there. Another Target employee was trying to be helpful by telling us that the hair driers were upstairs, when in fact they were only a couple aisles away downstairs. Oh well, we got what we needed, check-out was reasonable, and there was an ATM on the other side that we used for trip cash. And once we got back to the car, there was even an easier way out! read more

This Target is OK, feels a little dingy but not the end of the world. It's two stories and thus feels quite large. They have a cart escalator for your cart which I thought was funny. There is also an elevator. I highly recommend scanning items on your Target app to see if they're cheaper on Target.com - I was amazed that many items I scanned were more expensive in store at Tanforan than online. Their price match policy states that yes they will price match online but I didn't feel like dealing with this and flagging down an associate, especially for multiple items so I just put those items back on the shelf. I was in the area and decided to come here and buy a six-pack of a margarita drink I occasionally buy. What a HUGE mistake that was! I get in line. The cashier sees what I have and immediately moves it to another register in front of a line of several people. I felt doing this without even explaining why she did that was incredibly rude, both to me and the other customers standing in line. The cashier at this second register immediately insisted on seeing ID (even though I'm in my 60s), didn't even bother looking at my ID and then scanned it before handing it back to me. I've worked retail at various markets for over 10 years and I've always looked at a person's ID if I think they may be underage. I would NEVER scan someone's ID. This is a blatant intrusion on my privacy. I complained about this via email and received a lame excuse about "California is strict on IDs" response. Yeah right. The same folk that canceled their DEI practices because the President told them to also clearly doesn't care about protecting customer's privacy either. Since they care so little about this, I'm not coming back here or to any other Target. read more

I have come to this Target quite a few times and the way the store I'm not going to lie is not my favorite. Personally, as a mom of a little one., it's inconvenient to travel between floors for things especially if I forget something. But that's not something the store management or employees can help that. This past Sunday two employees stood out and really helped me. I found out this year Target's Black Friday sale started on Sunday before thanksgiving instead of the regular day after thanksgiving. I knew I wanted to get a car seat and I checked with one Target and they said they were sold out even though on the app it listed they had some. Then I went to this Target and asked Carla about the car seat and she called and looked for someone to help me. Then Terry came over and went to the back and after a bit he came back with the car seat. They didn't brush me off, they were kind and hospitable. I was impressed by these two! This use to be one of my favorite Target to shop at. Now a lot of essentials are under lock. This time it's toothpaste! There's been so much bad element coming through the store that now they have police officers guarding the entrance. This review is for Thompson in customer service. I had several returns from different purchases, including some from third-party vendors. The Target system also required that some items from the same purchase have their returns entered separately. In short, a lot of work with some annoying twists--the type of situation that often makes customer service staff roll their eyes or mutter under their breath. Thompson, however, was cheerful and kind throughout the interaction. He didn't get flustered, and he took the time to explain how products from third-party vendors are treated differently in their system. That kind of customer service is increasingly rare, and it really made my day. Thanks, Thompson! read more

The manager Ashley Green be aware. She was really rude and racists to me. Squinting her eyes at me. Like I have small eyes. She doesn't know how to treat customers at all. Don't try to argue and really listen to the customer and understand where they are coming from. Just imagine your a customer and you were told the wrong information. And you were laughing at me and making me feel like I'm stupid. You made me feel so uncomfortable and verbally abusive. Saying I don't know what I'm talking about. This target basically scammed me. Today from now on I'll never goto this target again. And I'll tell everyone else I know to never come here ever again. And you'll see a lawsuit coming for you for this abusive behavior and scam. read more
