Came here 6 months ago and Patel never told me I had cataracts! She said it was astigmatism....! I saw Dr Voss at USC Opthomololgy ( she is a Dr!) and she examined my eyes with drops and said I had cataracts in my left eye! That explains it all!! Don't trust these places! Have had to make 4 trips back and forth for a basic pair of reading glasses. Seems they cannot get the correct order and expect me to jump through all these hoops like a Bengali Tiger in the circus. I went in for eye exam with Dr Patel and she said that I needed two diff pairs- one for reading and one for vision=driving. Although the signs say 59 dollars for glasses - they clickbait you because that is the price for people who DO NOT have insurance. The price they charge for insired people is 170 dollars or more. So my 300 dollars for glasses only let me choose one pair. So I told them to give me the reading glasses. They gave me the wrong one and when I called back Ceasar answered and told me they willl get the reading glasses ready. I get a text a few days later to pick it up. I go in and then the Victor guy tells me a whole other story basically having me sit there another 20 minutes waiting and waiting for nothing. I have already wasted enough gas and time going back and forth for a basic simple pair of glasses. Ended up returning the error glasses. What a hassle. read more

Bait and switch is a morally suspect sales tactic that lures customers in with specific claims about the reasonable prices on services then upsell on pricier services. Upselling is one thing, but preforming additional services without telling the customer about additional costs, then charging for the service is wrong. Dr.Patel has a great bedside manner, and a propensity to conduct services without explaining that they are not included in a standard exam and will have additional charges. If you find yourself at Target Pasadena Optical, ask for an itemized list of charges for eye exams and what services are extra. Ask if the service being performed has additional cost. I was charged far beyond what I was originally quoted due to this unethical practice. If Dr. Patel offers you any samples, check the expiration date. I walked out with a handful of expired samples..... probably not allowed under FDA laws. read more

I called the day before and told them about the situation I had with the Rosemead Target Optical location. They were able to set up an appointment with me the following morning. Two of my friends highly recommended this location so it was worth giving them a try. When I got there in the morning they had me fill out a form and checked my temperature for COVID-19. After that, I had a check-up with the doctor. It was very easy super fast. She's also very funny to talk to. I would definitely come back to see her. For the contacts, I was looking around to see what deals they have. I asked about the colored contacts and the manager told me not to get them because of my circumference of my pupil. So that saved me time. I ended not getting any contacts that day. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend my friends to go here. read more

I was charged only 10% off a $95 fitting fee because I have an astigmatism. Nobody reviewed charges before hand, as far as I knew the fitting fee was $40. I get the the register and see $110. A huge chunk if my skimpy eye benefit was gone in an instant. The doctor acted like I am crazy, I never paid $80 for a fitting fee. Maybe it's new with my insurance to have different fees for regular vision vs astigmatism. What extra work are they really doing on fitting for an astigmatism? This is $40 more and not worth it. Sigh. The best part was when they shoved paperwork at me I couldn't read without readers and kept pointing to it. Eye exam a bit rushed, and they do do the puff. Never go to a place with the puff! Purchase prescription sunglasses about a week before Christmas. While the store people were very helpful, they were not able to provide an expected arrival date. A couple days after Christmas, I called to check on status. Was told the sunglasses would arrive on the 29th and that someone would give me a call then. Just called to follow up (January 7th). It seems as though they have arrived but no one has called me. I saw Dr. Phifer at this location, as she was the attending optometrist that day. I have been getting eye exams since 1992, and this Doctor managed to refresh a usually mundane experience. Thank you Dr. Phifer for your care and concern. It was a pleasant surprise to have an informative eye doctor, who is also fun. You explained things previously unexplained and took it upon yourself to express areas of concern professionally and gracefully... but with that right amount of push needed for patients to take action. This specifically concerns my experience using an online coupon to order glasses and frames. Nobody was rude but I felt like the people working there had no knowledge of products and were not really into the swing of things. Maybe someone from housewares was just filling in. The computer was extremely slow which was not the employees fault but still made things drag. After wasting 30 minutes of my time picking out frames, I got a call from target that the lense I picked could not support my prescription, and I found out from another target optical that Oakley lenses were excluded completely from the coupon. Went to Targer Optical because it's one of the few places near me that honors our optical insurance. We dropped by one day to make our appointments and while we were there together, went ahead and picked out our frames. Dr. Patel took her time doing our exams and she was very easy to talk to and didn't seem put out that we had lots of questions (my wife is diabetic). Wife was helped by Noelle, who was friendly and knowledgeable about our plan. Unfortunately, the computer glasses my wife ordered were too thick and heavy and had to be returned. Since I didn't have the receipt on me, they gave us optical credit which we used to get an identical pair of wife's everyday glasses (for spare). Tech who helped me was Victor. He was also friendly and knowledgeable. Something weird happened and my sunglasses were filled on wrong frames. But, since one of the lenses had a flaw I had to send back. And out of nowhere, my correct frames showed up! Bottom line, the service and glasses we got were just fine. Three stars because they're still expensive. I spent half this amount getting the same number of frames and lenses at Costco. read more

I emailed target 19 days ago and have heard nothing! Completely unacceptable. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE A DIME!! I got my eyes examined here a while back. I chose not to fill all of my contacts at once because I don't like having a bunch of boxes sitting around the house. Before I chose not to pick up the full supply I asked the girl if my prescription expired because I typically use my glasses and it takes a long time for me to go through a whole box. She of course said no problem. Then about a week ago I call trying to get the other half of my prescription and they tell me I have to make an appointment. I ONLY USED HALF MY PRESCRIPTION!!!!! I've been having eye exams and wearing contacts for over 20 years and this by far is the WORST experience I've ever had with an optical office. I have been a patient there for several years and have recently had trouble with my contacts due to allergies. I wants to come in and consult with the Dr. to see if new/different contacts could be helpful. New contacts that I would buy from them by the way. They insisted that I must pay for a full eye exam because I was outside of the 90 days period to make changes. I told the person I was talking to that this poor customer service and her response was, "no, it's not." Wow. Really? Does this work for you guys? I ended up talking with the doc at the Burbank Target optical (who I have no history with) and she said she would let me trial a different pair of lenses for free to see if I even wanted to make a change. She also told me that making changes to existing customer prescriptions as a courtesy was an industry standard and shouldn't have been a problem. Needless to say Target Optical at pasadena completely blew it. Go to Burbank instead. read more

DON'T BE DECEIVED JUST BECAUSE ITS TARGET! My first experience with target optical seemed to go ok at first. I scheduled my appt for glasses and contacts fitting. Dr. Patel was courteous and nice at first. It wasn't until something went wrong, when her true colors came out. I purchased ray Ban eyeglasses at their store, however, i wanted to buy my contacts at costco (year supply much cheaper=better deal.) So, it came as a shock to me that the prescription she wrote out, costco didn't carry,they tried calling her to get over the phone approval for a similar brand. Not a big deal costco says, do it all time. But not with dr patel. She refused to approve, tried to get me to see her again for another fitting. When i tried to explain, she cut me off,and i told her not paying an additional fee to go back when i know which ones worked best for me. I argued with her over the phone for about 15 mins, finally begging to just adjust my prescription. ..which supposedly was going to take an additional whole week (just to re-write on a peice of paper). What choice did i have but to wait and tried to thank her she just hung up on me. So unprofessional never will i go back! :/ read more

WOW! It's been 5 years since I have had my eyes checked. This was the best, most thorough eye exam I have ever had. The eye doc explained everything in detail and really listened to everything I said. He is the first eye doc to ever notice that I have poor depth perception. Also he told me something really interesting. My Dad is color blind and I carry the gene. That means that if I have a son they would have a 50/50 chance of being color blind. SO INTERESTING! I have never heard that before the eye doc told me. At the end of the exam one of the ladies helped me pick out a pair of sunglasses. Completely covered by insurance! She was very patient and sweet. I'm really satisfied with the customer service. I honestly wasn't expecting much. I've already told my husband that he should go there as well. read more

I give the Target Optical shop on East Colorado Blvd in Pasadena 5 stars for service, value, selection of frames, and the facility itself (it has excellent light within the shop so you can actually see what you will look like in your new glasses). Last week my partner and I both went to have prescriptions filled and to pick out some new eyeglasses. 1) Their frames are wonderful and affordable; 2) The service was excellent; and 3) The eye doc was great, too. As for the details of our visit: I got an amazing pair of Ray Ban eyeglasses with progressive lenses and a pair of DKNY sunglasses (also with progressive lenses). My partner got new contact lenses and sun glasses and he also saw the eye doctor to get his Rx updated. The prices were superb--for *less* than the price that I was quoted at another shop nearby for 1 pair of glasses, I got both pairs of my new eyeglasses at Target *and* will also receive my eye insurance discount in the mail! Their staff is wonderful--Adrien helped me pick out my new eyeglasses--he was patient, kind and fun to work with (and had great taste in eyewear--I picked pairs he brought over to me); Yvette helped my partner with his glasses and was also great to work with and completely on the ball. We had fun talking with Victor, too (the manager) --he helped me with some additional fashion "votes" with the frames from which I was trying to choose, and ran a very organized and friendly little shop! read more
