Made an appointment the day before for 3:10pm. Got there at about 1:20pm. They started with preliminary exams at 1:30om. Dr. Baumann saw me around 1:50pm. Went over everything, asked a bunch of questions and she answered them. Got contacts and was out about 2:45pm. They accommodated me without even asking. It's too bad Yelp doesn't allow for zero stars. This review is not about Linden as a whole, but about the bedside manner a particular doctor in their practice lacks. I recommend Linden to others. I don't believe in gatekeeping. The eye exam process is usually easy, plus they have incredible selection of glasses. This one measly star is to help others make an educated choice about what kind of provider they choose to see. I was assigned Dr. Chan. I went to her knowing that my vision had degraded since my last visit two years ago. At the beginning of the visit, I let her know I was having a harder time seeing and that I have a serious medical issue that impacts my vision with some regularity. She did a traditional exam and confirmed that I needed a stronger prescription. She suggested I move to progressive lenses. Fair enough. She asked zero follow-up questions, so when she asked if I had questions, I took that as my opportunity to address how my medical condition could be exacerbated by the process of adjusting to transitional lenses. I could tell she didn't have a firm answer, but instead of just saying that, she was incredibly dismissive. She said she had other patients who had seizures and chronic migraines (symptoms of the larger condition), and instead of asking questions, took the route of showing me laminated literature. I started to feel like I was being read a script instead of seeing a doctor. The tipping point was when she showed me what it would look like to look through a pair of progressive lenses and then said, "See, you didn't have a seizure." I was so taken aback by the comment, I responded: "You know it doesn't work that way, right?" Doctors at their core are diagnosticians. If you aren't transparent, they are not able to do their job. But, no matter how much work you put in occasionally you run into doctors like Dr. Chan who are more interested in getting you out the door than making sure the patient has proper care. Having a ghost illness makes life a little less manageable day to day, and folks like Dr Chan make life a little more painful. In the end, I thanked her for her time and chose not to stay. I'll take my business elsewhere, and when someone asks where I got my glasses (which happens a lot), I will tell them the truth. It is not my job to ruin Linden, but it is Dr. Chan's job to treat patients with respect. read more

Pros: Selection: The main reason I switched and came to Linden was because of the huge selection of glasses that I could try on. Sure, I could order the same things from my other eye doctor, but they don't have them in stock for me to try on. Service: Everyone I have dealt with has been very nice. While they may not all give me the right information, they have certainly been pleasant. Cons: Cleanliness: The facilities feel quite worn. If you go in the back for an eye exam things actually look pretty dirty. Service: while everyone is nice, I've called four different times about glasses I paid for and ordered over six weeks ago (they told me it would take 2 weeks) and get a new and different answer every time. I've been told a couple times that someone is going to research my order and call me back, but I have yet to receive a call from anyone. Delivery: I wish I would've read reviews before I had moved to Linden then I would've expected exceptionally long delays in getting my glasses. My glasses are a new style to me so I have my old ones that are just fine. But, if my glasses had broken and I needed new ones the continued delay after delay after delay would've been more than frustrating. Conclusion: If Linden is convenient for you and you don't need your glasses anytime soon, then I think it is perfectly fine as long as you go in knowing there will undoubtedly be delay delays. read more

While looking for a new pair of glasses, my husband and I decided to come here to Linden Optometry because they have such a large and vast selection of frames (and also have many designer brands for those interested). I usually just purchase glasses at the usual optometry I go to each year to get my eyes checked, but thought I would look else where since I didn't see anything that peaked my interest for frames. We came on on a Thursday evening and parked in the front (please note that there is a parking lot in the back that is right next to the USC Pacific Asia Museum lot). We were greeted by an employee at the front desk. The employee helped look up my insurance and then explained how to read the price tags on the frames and told me what my vision insurance allowance was. Once we both found a frame (my husband found several and wanted to ask the employee about which frame would work best for him based on his vision, etc), we went back to the girl who helped us and then she set us up another person to help with the billing portion and set up the frame we wanted and such (please note that we had a copy of our prescription with us that was done at another optometry). Then after that, we were told that our glasses would be ready w/in 10 business days. By the 8th business day, my husband got a text message that his glasses were ready. Because my husband paid for both our glasses, I just figured it also meant that my glasses were ready too. But my glasses were not, but luckily they did have the lenses though (lenses are not made in house and sent out to a company). And so someone ended up shaping it and smoothing out the lenses to put in the frames I had purchased. My glasses fit just perfectly and I was able to get used to the new frames right away. But my husband had some problems. The lady helping us told us that we can still return our frames w/in 30 days without paying a restocking fee and get a full refund. My husband kept having problems and ended up getting his eyes rechecked at our local optometry (the same place we had gotten our eye exams done prior) and came back to see if they could change the prescription. We found out later that the first eye prescription was a lot strong than the one my husband did a second time. He got his lenses remade and finally was able to find a pair of glasses that suited him. Overall, we had excellent customer service (with the exception of one employee) and would come back here. And next time we need to do our annual eye exam, my husband told me that he would prefer to do it here. read more

Extremely Disappointed -- 6+ Weeks Late, No Updates, and a Bare-Minimum Email Response I normally don't write reviews, but my friend's experience with Linden Optometry has been unacceptable from start to finish. He ordered a pair of Meta 2 Ray-Ban Headliner prescription sunglasses in late September. He was explicitly told the turnaround time would be four weeks tops. Instead, he heard nothing for over six weeks -- no updates, no delay notice, no courtesy communication of any kind. Today, after waiting on hold for about 30 minutes, he was told the person who sold me the glasses, Stewart, was "unavailable" and would get back to me later. Hours passed, and at 3:26 PM, he received this lazy, casual email: "Meta 2 Headliner order Hi there, wanted to let you know that I left a message with your insurance lab in regards to your order. Typically they will get back to us within a day, so as soon as we get information I will connect with you. Stewart" Do better. read more

One of the staff members that takes you in to do the eye pressure, ask you general questions about your health, etc. was RUDE! The way she asked questions, moving me from room-to-room, machine-to-machine made me feel as if I was an INCONVENIENCE to her job! I know customer service is a hard job (I've been in those jobs) but I was nice the entire time and didn't deserve that treatment. I would give this place zero stars if I could. While the staff appear to be nice and the doctor did his job, it is as if this place's goal is to run as inefficiently and inconveniently as possible. A perfect example is they refuse to send you your prescription unless it is via fax or snail mail. They also insist on a doctor's "review" of new contacts before signing a prescription which means it requires THREE visits to just get a new contact prescription -- first is the check up, second is you getting the "trial contacts," and third is finally getting the signed prescription once the trial contacts are "approved." If you'd like to add more things to your to-do list and have long waiting times to get simple contact or glasses prescriptions, this is the place! If not, I recommend anywhere else. I've been wearing contacts and glasses for 20 years and felt patronized the entire way through. My eyesight might be bad, but my hindsight is 20-20 about this poorly run place. read more

Review of Linden Optical 477 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena Ca 91101 626-796-1191 In this review of Linden Optical, my first impression was that it was going to be a good experience to do business with this optical service business, I soon realized that they are not what they appear to be. I placed an order for $564. Lenses to be replaced in my glasses frame. I was given a price and told it would be 3 weeks for progressive lenses and I must pay in full upfront. 9/10/25 I received a text that the glasses were ready on 9/26/25. I went to my appointment and waited 10 minutes. An employee presented the glasses and I asked if she could clean the nose rests that were dirty. She politely cleaned them and returned. I asked if she could do the same to the pair I was wearing. She agreed and after a lengthy wait and a second employee notification that there would be a delay, she returned them to me, letting me know she tightened and ultrasonically cleaned them. The glasses seemed dirty and upon examination it clearly appeared that a coating was stripped from the lens from the ultrasonic cleaner. This coating could have been a reflection inhibitor on the lens. I asked if she could get me a price for a lens replacement as I could not see clearly with the lens damage that now has appeared after cleaning. She said she would check and was gone for 45 minutes. Finally, a gentleman appeared who later told me he was management and advised me "the lab would not replace one lens" that he would have to charge me for two lens replacements but would give me a deal with a price of $539.00 from the $564.Price he had for the first pair of glasses and saving $25.99. I reminded him that the lens was damaged by his employee. A better price would be $500.00. The manager stated "No you brought them into us in that damaged condition. I sharply replied "that's a lie". I accused him of being a liar. The manager was not present when I first was waited on, and the original female employer had disappeared and was nowhere on site. Over 1 3/4 hours and lies and a refusal to render me a receipt for the service. No apology and no compensation for the damage to my glasses. My wife dropped them off and they held them for a month without calling. She went in to check the status of my glasses and was rudely informed that they could do nothing. I came to do my annual exam the first week of December and the whole process was normal and efficient. Chose my glasses, went to the counter to do my payments and was told that they will be ready in two weeks like the usual protocol from them. Two weeks pass and they call me and let me know that since the frames were thin and fragile (rimless) that they accidentally broke it and apologize. I understood, mistakes happen and I asked when will it be ready. They let me know within a week, which was fine. I call a week later (3 weeks without new glasses so far) and ask if they're ready and they let me know that they haven't received it yet. I said alright that's fine. Call them back the following Tuesday (call number 2) they acknowledged that they will let me know when the warehouse calls them back tomorrow. I said okay once again. Wednesday passes and I call that Thursday of the same week (call number 3). Once again given the same response(4 weeks without glasses). First week of January comes (Tuesday) around and I call them (call number 4) hey any updates on the warehouse, once again they give me the same excuse "we will give you a call tomorrow". Once again no call from them. I call them again Thursday (call number 5) and ask for an update while I wait 30 minutes on the phone just to be told that my frames will come by January 16 and I can pick them up the 17 since I waited such a while. I appreciate them for that but I would be out of town. So I come back to town the 19th of January and since they told me they would be ready I assume I don't need to call them for a SIX time about my glasses that I PAID FOR. I ended up coming in today Jan 24 for a "pick-up" and to my assumption they call me to the glasses center to let me know my frames have yet to arrive. That being 6th overall time I'm in contact with them. The care of their patience from the front counter unit is ridiculous. The lack of communication skills they have speaks volumes about how they run their business. I've came to lindon since I was a kid and have been helped by the same nice lady with choosing my glasses every year which is why I enjoy coming to them. However, this time my patience has run out with the ADULTS they have running the front desk who can't even give a simple update call on glasses that a patient PAID FOR. You work the front desk. Mr. Albert at the drive thru on a rainy day needs an attitude check when guarding the curbside pick up parking spot. No need to be rude to customers after having called the location and was directed to use that spot to pick up my glasses, by a lady that answered. I was disappointed to hear that Dr. Limfat was booked up until the end of the year. He is my preferred doctor for his thoroughness. I realized I had to see a different doctor and I hoped it would go well. I wasn't convinced, this doctor spent a good part of my appointment familiarizing themselves with my history. Which was fine but they did not give me what I felt was a thorough eye exam. The office closes earlier probably due to Covid changes. I didn't want to rush my choice for glasses, I am not even sure I will get them from Linden Optometry. I am going to look around online and see if I can find something quick. One of my coworkers went to get glasses on Friday, had new ones by Monday! I want something quick and seamless and I am not sure Linden Optometry offers this for me anymore. Disgusting service!! Service has declined throughout the years. Horrible communication service to get status on your glasses.

They told me "$189 for eye exam, contact lenses exam, frames and contact lenses". I was like, great. When I got there, AFTER the dr had started the exam process, she told me that the promo didn't apply with people with astigmatism and that I had to pay $20 more for the contact exam and that I wouldn't get contacts. I said, ok but are the glasses still included? She said yes. After I picked which glasses I wanted, they said I had to pay more because I didn't qualified for the promo. They made me pay everything separately: the eye exam, the contacts exam, and the frames with $54 extra if I wanted ultra thin glasses. So I thought I would pay $189 but I ended up paying almost $300. I wish I didn't pay for the frames and only paid the exams and went somewhere else because these selling tactics they have are predatory and dishonest. The doctor had left when it was my time to pay so she couldn't help and nobody wanted to help at all, instead they were super impatient with me because I kept asking questions. Apparently the glasses, the contacts and the doctor's department don't communicate with each other so there can be a lot of miscommunications, everyone saying different things and totally unable to help. I think if they are going to offer promos they need to be clear with what the conditions are upfront instead of saying the truth right at the end when it's too late. read more

Picking up glasses and having a second pair cleaned. The employee damaged the glasses in the ultrasonic cleaner. The manager shows up 39 min later and tells you that you brought them in damaged. The original employee gone and out of site. Lies do not solve problems. They lost a quality customer that would have brought in over $2000 a year but not after they lie to your face.
