I've been coming here for years and I have nothing but good things to say. Dr.Shirvanian is very kind and patient. She truly cares for her patients and makes sure to address any concerns or questions I have. It's always great catching up with her and love the easy and comfortable visits each year. The front desk girls are also helpful with questions regarding your insurance coverage. They're also very thorough in breaking down my insurance coverage and recommendations. I had ordered sunglasses in green on Nov 7th, 2024. They showed a green lens sample, and i had agreed on the color. After 3 weeks, on Nov 27th, I found out they were ready after calling a few times. They never called. The lenses came in dark grey. They agreed that these were not green and too dark, and reordered to match the green from the sample lens. After another 4 weeks, on Dec 24th, I got the second ones. The lenses were solid pit black, and I could hardly see through. They were pretty much blindingly dark, I couldn't help but concluding that they don't know what they were doing. Not wearable! And obviously, these were far away from the green I had ordered! They reordered again. I took these on my trip during their third attempt to produce green lenses. It was so blinding, I had to take them off at the moment i enter any building since it was impossible to press elevator buttons nor read signs! I had to purchase another sunglasses to survive during this trip. Finally, I got my green sunglasses on Jan 10th after more than 2 months. During this long wait, I had called several times and left messages asking to call back, but, no one had ever returned my calls. When I asked about this, the lady who was helping me said, "You must mention names to designate your messages..." with no apologies. This is a small shop where only a hand full of people work. I couldn't believe that she said this proudly with no apologies. Always so defensive with no empathy or any efforts to understand the customers' position. I finally asked, "How come you guys never say sorry for making all these wrong lenses, repeatedly extended long waits and for ignoring phone messages?" She replied, "I think I said sorry last time", which wasn't true, then handed me the glasses without a case. She said, your frame wasn't purchased from us, so, we can't give you a case. No smiles, no sorries after 2 months of waiting, multiple visits to confirm the wrong colored lenses and ignored phone calls. I had paid $149 upfront. They obviously do not know what customer service is on top of not knowing how to make glasses. She must have noticed my hesitance and went inside to bring out a lens cleaning cloth to offer. At that point, this felt so petty that I declined to take it. I saw great reviews from others in the past. But, this lady said at one point that the ownership has been changed recently. So, please beware. To address to their comment below, I must point out my previous experience seeking for the green shade is irrelevant here, since I had agreed on and ordered the color of sample lens they had presented, yet, they repeatedly failed on producing that presented color. Ordered green lenses, and I got dark grey lenses after 3 weeks and got black lenses after another month. After almost 2 months, I was able to get acceptable ones. This is why I thought a negative review is called for so that there won't be another frustrated customer like myself in the future. read more

I cannot recommend Oculus Optometry highly enough. Despite living in Northern California now, I went out of my way to see Dr. Chan for my new prescription while I was visiting family for the holidays. Dr. Chan not only takes her time to get you into the correct prescription, but she is also extremely knowledgeable and passionate about eye health. I highly recommend doing a retinal scan if you can afford the out of pocket additional cost. Dr. Chan took the time to review the images of my retina with me and answer all of my questions about the inner workings of the eye. The front desk staff were also extremely helpful with helping me order the frames I wanted and assisted me in ordering prescription lenses for a pair of sunglasses I brought in. The front of the shop is modern and has a good variety of styles and brands to choose from. I will be back for years to come. read more

Took grandson there after having problems reading at school. He was nervous for some of the tests but the staff was patient and kind and put him at ease. He was excited that they had a prize box. As it turns out, my prescription glasses are just readers. Which makes the whole experience suspect now. The lens popped out of both pairs. ( I got two, one for far away as well.) Honestly, the quality of either is really nothing special. The lady ordered my replacement pair in the wrong color ("you had one job!" ) changing it from the original, who told you to! Staff is eh!. Will see, I'm bringing in another pair to glue in the glass that pops out, lame! If they are cool, I'll remove this critique. If not, critique stays. read more

I've been going here for years and they always have such friendly service when you check in and out and the doctor here is great as well! They also have a wide selection of glasses in their store front should you need them. During the pandemic they require masks, temperature check at the door, and hand washing. My first visit to this office went smoothly with the optometrist when I had my exam and everyone at the front desk was friendly and attentive to any questions I had. However, after months of wearing my new prescription glasses, I noticed there were small cracks forming on the edge of the lenses, as well as the glasses frame. I contacted the office to see if can be repaired since it's still under warranty and the woman who answered the phone said I can bring it in whenever I can and they'll fix it. I went ahead and did that and that's when things got extremely frustrating. A month went by and no one contacted me to let me know that my glasses were fixed and ready for pick up so I called to ask and was put on hold for a long time. I was eventually told that my glasses were back from the lab and that they needed to do a final inspection before I pick it up. I was told to wait for a text letting me know it's ready for pick up. Over a week went by and I never got a text. So I called to ask if my glasses are ready for pick up yet. I was told they were just about to text me that it was and that I can come pick it up now. I asked if I can stop by that day around noon and she said yes. I arrived around noon and told the front desk I was here to pick up my glasses. She looked at the computer for a while to search for my information. She mistaken me for another patient so I corrected her and told her my name. She said with the dirtiest attitude, "your appointment was at 12." I told her no, I'm just here to pick up my glasses. She told me to have a seat and so I waited. Finally, she brought out my glasses and they were fixed. However, I cannot see clearly with it when reading because the lenses did not get marked at where my eyeballs would be when wearing it. So now I need to lift my glasses to the middle of the lenses in order to see clearly...on top of that the glasses frame was just fixed with glue so it'll probably crack again at some point. I'm so disappointed at this experience because I was happy with my initial visit and was thinking that this would be my go-to optometrist. But after the front desk made me jump through hoops and humiliate myself just to pick up my glasses, I've changed my mind. read more

I just found Oculus Optometry as a local and I was able to get in sooner than any other place I could find. They worked to find a spot for me last minute. Jaime took her time to get to know me personally and took a thorough approach with taking my history and completing an exam. She's also a mother herself so she understands how busy it can get and the importance of self-care when it comes to vision and encouraging hygiene with my contacts. She's detail oriented and practical in her advice. I told my husband to go to her as well. Absolutely recommend Oculus and their tremendous staff. read more

After I received my glasses, my glasses need to get some maintenance but it turned out my glasses were discontinued so all the pets were unavailable. If you are not purchasing, the workers here will not contact you for other minor services... So I keep following up and still everything is taking forever. After weeks of following up, the store manager says she will give me a new pair of glasses but as a courtesy but I need to pay a small fee. (it was about a $50-$100). I told her it's nice that I can get a new set of glasses but I don't feel like I should have to pay anything out of pocket and my glasses should be under warranty. The store manager gets very defensive and has a very long conversation with me. (This is mostly just her talking / sales speech saying I'm saving money or what not.) Finally after an hour long convo, she agrees to give me the new glasses for fl no charge. Part of why she agreed to do this was that I told her I looked around the store and I really like the glasses I chose over any other there. (Not a whole lot of great selections). Later that day, the store manager calls me back and she says that she can get me some parts for my glasses (non authentic parts and before she couldn't get these parts but all of a sudden she can?!) and said that she'll get them to me instead of giving me the new glasses. To not have another argument, I just agreed and here I am with a broken glass. Everyone watch for the first impression. They take your money but after they don't follow through with customer service and try to take your money. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

This is a response to Hripsime's comments regarding my original review. Her comments will be in quotes: "You crossed the line, Merv." What line? I entered your business wearing a mask, touched nothing, and immediately answered all questions I was asked. Conversely, I asked *one* question, and you yelled at me unnecessarily. And your summary is that *I* "crossed the line"? That's preposterous. You're grasping for a justification for rude treatment of a customer. "Due to COVID, anything a customer touches needs to be sterilized after the visit. This is why the ladies got nervous when you started browsing on your own, having skipped check-in." I did not "skip" check-in. No one is more concerned, nor careful, about COVID than I am. I suffered panic attacks due to fears of COVID. So, trust me, I'm careful. Your shop is narrow and long, and the desk is at the rear of the shop. I had never visited your shop before. I entered the shop--about 5 minutes early for my appointment--so I was simply looking at your selection of frames as I made my way toward the desk at the rear. I touched nothing. When I was addressed, I promptly answered *every* question I was asked. I did not "skip" anything. When someone behind the desk said, "Hello," I replied, "Hello." When I was asked, "Do you have an appointment?," I immediately answered, "Yes, I do." Then there was a pause. I kept browsing. Someone behind the desk had been speaking on the phone, and I wasn't the only customer in the shop. So, when I heard, "May I have your driver's license?," I turned and immediately asked if she was addressing me. All she had to say was, "Yes," and I would have handed her my license. But instead of allowing *her* to answer my simple question, you interjected--in an alarmingly loud voice--with an off-putting verbal dissertation. It felt like an attack, when all I had asked was a simple yes-or-no question. "You apparently weren't wise enough to realize that the office has special protocols" That's a ridiculous statement. All businesses have COVID protocols. Everyone knows that. And I follow them strictly. There's no need to (pitifully attempt to) insult my intelligence. "Two thirds of all your 37 reviews are 1 stars." That's the unfortunate nature of reviewing. Humans tend to be more motivated to leave reviews when the experience was negative. I'll point out, however, that mine is not the only 1-star review of your business. So, there's that. "Running a business is hard. You likely don't know the first thing about that." Wrong. I own a very successful business myself. The fact that you'd assume otherwise reveals even more about you. Bottom line: You yelled me--for absolutely no reason--and I stand by my review. read more

I am a relatively new patient - switched over here in October 2020, in the midst of this pandemic. Dr. Shirvanian has been amazing, I cannot recommend her enough. Very professional, thorough and kind. She is perhaps the best optometrist I've ever had, and I've had a few good ones! The two young ladies at the front desk, Karina and Jessica are very helpful and have provided the BEST customer service every time I have had the pleasure of speaking to them. Overall, this place is great, very clean, friendly staff, great Doctor. I was a little skeptical from all of the 5 star reviews... Dr. Shirvanian and her team is first class. I felt really comfortable coming in during Covid, all of the proper precautions were taken. The Dr. took the time to answer my questions about the prescription and the follow up was phenomenal. Forget the "Doctor" for a quick second, she is an awesome human being. Kind, compassionate, and willing to listen to all your concerns with a smile on her face. Now, as a doctor, she was very attentive, professional, kind, and personable. This was hands down the best experience I've ever had with an optometrist. She didn't expedite me in any way when she was testing my eyes, she was patient, and she offered me options so as not to "overprescribe" as she called it. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. I have been seeing Dr. Shirvanian for a few years now and a review is way overdue! First of all the clinic is beautiful with the glasses neatly displayed and an inviting atmosphere. Parking is fairly easy with plenty of street parking. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Dr.Shirvanian is so warm and great at what she does! She does a thorough examination and always makes sure to ask how life/work is going. Something so simple yet it goes so far! I wish more doctors took the time to check-in on patients in this way. Scheduling appointments is also very easy on their website. Dr.Shirvanian made sure to wipe down equipment used and everyone wore masks to follow covid precautions. I made an appointment for an eye exam, and I was very pleased the way they were taking extra precautions for the COVID. I was welcomed by the lady when I arrived and she walked me to the sink to wash my hands first thing, which I really liked, knowing when someone comes in that have clean hands touching or trying the glasses. I noticed they sanitized each glasses as someone would try them on. They are very nice and friendly. They helped me out with the many questions i had with a smile. On each use of machines for tests the doctor would alcohol swab everything in front of me. She was also nice and helpful. Thanks again! read more
