Yanna Yu told us she was moving to a new location 40 minutes from our house, it didn't matter, because she is the only optometrist my family will go to.

Diana at the front desk wins you over immediately with her knowledgeable and caring way in which she treats clients. I always feel well taken care of when I have completed my appointment. The staffing and services provided at Visual Effects Optometry are of the highest caliber. Customers are welcomed warmly and thorough consideration given to their needs. My optometry needs have been successfully fulfilled at Visual Effects Optometry for the several years and I intend to continue obtaining their excellent services there. After my cataract removal surgery they were extremely helpful in getting replacement lenses for my glasses at no additional cost due to the brief timeframe of purchasing glasses and then followed by surgery a month later. The doctors and staff are second to none.

The office assistant escorted us to get the eye images and screening questions done. When asked about current medications, I replied that we only administer Advil or Motrin for fevers and pain, and she didn't ask any follow-up questions. Instead, she led us back to the exam room to wait for the doctor. As soon as we entered the room, my daughter dropped her belongings and dove into playing with her slime. The doctor walked in just as my daughter was reaching for tissues to wipe off excess hand sanitizer. The doctor's expression was puzzling - I couldn't tell if it was her natural demeanor or a look of distaste. "Oh, I heard your daughter is sick," she said, and I confirmed, "Yes, she was, last week". Given her medical expertise and credentials I expected more in-depth questioning. Instead, it seemed like she relied on assumptions rather than gathering thorough information about my daughter's medical history. It was surprising that she didn't take the opportunity to ask more questions and gather useful insights before or during our visit. She just looked at my daughter and told her "yeah, you look miserable" I was taken aback when the doctor said those exact words to my 12-year-old daughter. Her choice of words was not only unprofessional but also potentially damaging to a young and impressionable mind. It made me wonder how healthcare professionals in this office speak about patients when they're not within earshot. So I questioned her "what?? miserable? how can you tell her that. You have poor choice of words". And she said "well she doesn't look very well" and tried to rephrase it in other ways and started giving me the definition of miserable. I was appalled when the doctor offered to see my daughter another day. Why would I subject my child to a healthcare "professional" who lacks empathy and basic diagnostic skills? The doctor's failure to ask fundamental questions about allergies, medical history, and symptoms was staggering. Instead, she made assumptions based on a single observation - my daughter grabbing tissues. Her incompetence was alarming, and I wouldn't trust her to provide adequate care for my daughter or anyone in my family. Now I wonder, if other people knew, would they trust her to treat and diagnose their vision? Witnessing a healthcare professional in a white coat behave so unprofessionally was extremely upsetting. What's worse, instead of apologizing directly to my daughter for her hurtful comment, the doctor downplayed the situation by offering a casual invitation to return another time. Her lack of accountability and empathy was appalling, and ignoring my daughter's feelings only added to the harm. A simple acknowledgment and apology would have gone a long way in resolving the issue. Instead, her indifference compelled me to share our distressing experience, serving as a cautionary tale about the importance of empathy in healthcare. After declining her services, I walked out of the office. As I was walking to my car, I realized I needed to return for a doctor's note for my daughter's school. When I went back, it was clear that the doctor was gossiping with the front desk staff about our encounter. 5-7 people huddled in the front desk, like Jesus! you couldn't wait until I left the parking lot at least? The unprofessionalism was staggering - but not surprising; instead of reflecting on her behavior, she was sharing our personal business with others. So much for privacy rights.

I was immediately welcomed in by the sweetest girls working the front. I was seen by Dr. Randy, who give me so much insight on what I can do resolve my eye discomforts and with my vision. He gave such a thorough explanation of what he saw within my test results, which I really appreciate as someone with minor knowledge on anatomy of the eyes. I was then passed on to the lovely girls up front to pick out my glasses and they were so helpful! The girl helping me noticed I was very conflicted with so many wonderful choices in eyewear, she brought out the whole office team, including Dr. Jennie to help me decide! The office manager was openly rude, dismissive, and shockingly uninformed. When my usual contact lens brand (Acuvue Moist) was unavailable, I was given a different brand (BioTrue). I asked a very basic question: what is the difference between these two lenses? Her only response, repeated multiple times, was "the price." That answer isn't just incorrect, it's illogical. A significant price difference exists because there are differences in materials, moisture retention, comfort, and wear. When pressed, she said she "doesn't wear contacts" and therefore couldn't explain, an odd excuse for someone managing an optometry office. You do not need to personally use a product to understand or explain it. By that logic, no medical professional could explain medications they don't personally take. She made no effort to look up the information, ask another staff member below her, or provide any meaningful help. Instead, she was condescending and dismissive throughout the entire interaction. The trial lenses were uncomfortable, immediately dried my eyes, and caused blurry vision confirming that there are, in fact, differences she refused to acknowledge. Even after I told her how they immediately felt, she just would repeat the same phrase of "I don't wear contacts so I wouldn't know" and smile condescendingly. Aly has consistently been the only professional, knowledgeable, and helpful employee I've worked with over the years, and my decision about whether to continue care here will depend entirely on whether future visits can be handled through her without further interaction like this. Poor office leadership and an unwillingness to assist patients reflect badly on the entire practice. If your eyes dry out or blur with a given brand, that's a legitimate, physiological response, not something that can be dismissed as "just price." Professional staff should be able to explain these differences or check with another colleague rather than giving a non-answer.

I mean, ...as if the customer is the one to blame ? Then he said there is a 9:15 about another hour wait, and said, you can just hang out here and wait. Wait a second ! I took the time from my work, drive out there to get my annual, and now your system made a mistake and I had to pay for it with my time and the lack of hours I missed working and making money! Are you serious ? ??? The doctor is fine, I mean, expected, but the way they handle these situations are terrible. The guy at the front desk on 3/9 Monday morning, literally said " I just work here, if you want to complain, you can wait until my manager gets here in like 40 mins or come back another day" Like other customer complains, my time is precious and not being able to see patients when appointments are confirmed online should be taken seriously. If we need to bring confirmation email or proof, as long as it's notified, we are happy to do so. But when it's not the patients fault, they need to make up for our time.
