Dr. Elson was kind enough to open his doors for us on a Saturday morning to check my wife's right eye for possible retinal damage. He examined her eye and referred us to a specialist that was able to accommodate us the following Monday. I don't have enough good things to say about all of my experiences with Old Towne Optometry! From the beginning, they made it super easy to make an appointment, and everyone in the office is so sweet and welcoming. When I walk into the office, the staff at the front are immediately welcoming and friendly and they make you feel at home. I have been seeing Dr. T for the last couple of years and she has been a lifesaver with helping me find contact lenses and sorting out my dry eyes, and I most recently saw Dr. Elson who was super knowledgeable and did such an excellent job answering all my questions with respect to my vision changes and allergies. You can tell that everyone in the office is geared towards wanting to ensure you have a pleasant experience and the best words I can use to describe it are comfortable, trustworthy, and instant rapport. I live 5 hours away and refuse to change optometrists because they always go above and beyond with everything they do. All of the above aside, what pushed me to where I felt it was absolutely necessary to write a review was my AMAZING experience with Jules!!! This was my first time getting fitted for glasses here as I had been focusing on dialing in my contacts the last few years and I began to prefer to just get my glasses online because I didn't love picking them out in-office as the staff are not usually super helpful...that was until I came here and met Jules!! I have NEVER had such a fun, engaging, tailored-to-me, encouraging, efficient glasses fitting. By the way I raved about it to my husband, mom, and friends, you would think I hired a personal stylist. I could hear her talking to a patient as I walked in and was impressed by what she was saying, and I looked forward to hearing her recommendations for me. She was fantastic!! Listened to all of my preferences, added her own input, encouraged me to try styles that I would have never considered for myself, picked up on my thoughts immediately with respect to liking/disliking them, boosted my confidence, and just overall was that person for me that you're always calling/facetiming when you get fitted for glasses because you want honest/good feedback before you buy. This was my first visit to Old Towne Optometry. The staff was very courtias and helpful, and the Optimetrist was very thorough and explained every step of the eye exam, doing much more compare and contrast than I have had in the past and actually showed me the difference between my old and new prescription! The optician was very helpful in choosing frames and options for UV and glare and was careful that the progressive lenses were accurately defined for manufacture. What a great find! I've been taking my kids and myself here for the last few years. Dr. Ngo is so upbeat and so thorough! She leaves no stone unturned! As odd as that sounds for an eye exam, I do see (no pun intended) how much thought and effort Dr. Ngo puts in to making sure we get the best and most accurate diagnosis. Even after 40 years of wearing spectacles, there were things I had not even heard of before--like prisms! Needless to say, this office stays abreast of all the newest innovations in optometry. It's been many years since I've been this excited to go in for my eye exams. The difference really is night and day here. As a bonus, they carry all of the best brands of eyeglass frames as well. I had the absolute best experience at Old Towne Optometry. I don't think I have ever had better care. I came in with a swollen and painful eye. I thought part of my contact was stuck in my eye, but I actually had an infection! The doctors jumped right on it, putting in drops so they could diagnose the issue, and prescribing an antibiotic and put a healing lens on. They scheduled me the next day for a follow up, and prescribed a stronger antibiotic. The doctor called me that evening to check on me which was unexpected and much appreciated. I came back in the following day (Friday) and things looked a little better, but the doc wanted to keep following it, so he came in to see me on Saturday, which is his day off. He had gone mountain biking and then headed to the office to make sure I was doing ok. What doctor does that? It was very very cool. Its been almost a week since the infection began and it has mostly resolved. The doctors made the right call on how to treat it, and did an amazing job following up and making sure my eye was healing well. I am honestly blown away by the genuine kindness and dedication to healing this office shows. They truly care about your well-being and will go to great lengths to help you recover. I honestly give this optometrist and the entire office my highest recommendation and my sincerest thanks. PS. Don't sleep in your disposable contacts... lol read more

Highly recommend. Been coming to Old Towne for 20 years. Been with several eye doctors over the years here. All have been very good or excellent. Facility is nice. Technology and equipment is okay. Parking can be a little tough. Great restaurants, library, and shopping across the street. Receptionists are courteous and professional. Chris does the intake and initial testing. He's been there for 25 years probably. Chris is there most valuable asset in my humble opinion. We couldn't get into our normal Optometrist before the end of the year so decided to try out Old Towne Optometry instead as Dr. Heyman was recommended to me by my old doc in San Ramon. I can't tell you how glad I am that I found this place! Not only is Old Towne Optometry right down the street from us (it's conveniently located just around the way from Main Street in YL), the whole experience was flawless. We were able to get two appointments in the last weeks of December right next to each other. Came into the cute little office, didn't wait very long at all and then had our exams. Everyone was so nice and the Dr. is highly competent. We picked out glasses, got my contact prescription and then were on our way. Easy Peasey Glasses Squeegie! In a week, I got a call to pick up my new glasses and the process to pick up was just as easy. And my glasses came with cleaning spray that they said they would refill whenever I run out! This was the second year I went to Old Towne Optometry and the experience has been amazing each time. Last time was my first time getting glasses and having my eyes checked. They made me very comfortable and welcomed from the minute I walked in. They walked me through the steps patiently (I'm an engineer and ask a lot of questions!!) explaining as much detail as I wanted. Never felt rushed either. They have accommodating hours for people like me that work 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. They have a pretty good selection of frames, which are not necessarily the least expensive out there but are quality brands/products. Dr Heyman at Old Towne Optometry is my HERO! She came in on her day off and opened her office to take a look at my son's irritated eye. When she saw the piece of sand embedded in his cornea she immediately got him the help he needed, reassured him as they poked and cleaned his eye, gave him pain relief drops and followed up the next morning to ensure he was not in any pain. Her willingness to put his care and comfort first, to reassure him throughout the process and to help me understand what was happening made a very scary experience much less traumatic. Dr. Elson is nothing short of amazing. I recently saw him after switching from another eye doctor in another city. I am sooooo happy I did. I had been wearing reading glasses more and more recently and it was so bothersome. I wear contacts for distance and any small text was impossible to read. Even on my large desktop screen. Dr. Elson evaluated me and realized my former doctor has my prescription way too strong. with a minor adjustment, I was able to completely give up all my reading glasses and I no longer need them. my prescrip for distance was so strong, it distorted my ability to read anything small or close up. This is life changing. I used to have to carry my readers everywhere and if I didn't have them, I couldn't read anything small. He seriously is just amazing. He took a good amount of time with me, saved me from getting bifocal lenses, and truly seemed to care about me as a patient. LOVE Old Town Optometry and I am a patient for life now! I also want to mention the staff is incredible. They are all so friendly and so competent in what they do. They are all personable, friendly, and knowledgeable...and all make you feel like you are a priority. It is genuine, though, which makes all the difference.
