The main reason why I no longer read YELP reviews, or consider YELP helpful is because of the review's listed on this Target.
This is quite possibly the busiest Target in the midwest. It serves the entire Bucktown/wickerpark/logansquare/humboldtpark population. I really wish there would be a pre-requisite of having worked Retail before one is allowed to review a store of this size. I worked retail my entire time while in college, now as a College graduate with an engineering degree, a career, and a good income, I can provide an accurate review.
Does this target have all the things I need? Yes, there hasn't been a moment where I've walked in and haven't found what I came looking for. If something is missing or out of stock, I can confidently say that It will more than likely be re-stocked within the week. Just because a certain brand of eye-liner isn't in stock doesn't merrit this tore to have anything less than 5 stars. Just because the parking lot is congested and can be confusing (to people who have recently moved to Chicago and didn't learn how to drive in a busy city) doesn't mean that it has horrible customer service.
This stores does its best to keep the shelves stocked, and to bring people in. That's why the parking lot is packed, and why Target has a Parking Garage. The fact that a certain item isn't available just means 5-10 people came in and purchased that item before you did. Example being, on ST. Patrick's day my girlfriend wanted green nail polish. Target ran out of the more popular green colors. Knowing that about 7-10 nail polishes can fit on the shelves at a given time, and green isn't a popular color all year long, it wouldn't make sense for target to keep in stock 100 extra green nail polishes to supply the demand for them. The amount of extra resources in creating space for the extra nail polishes, having someone lay them out, and then put the unsold surplus away after the big demand overshadows the small profit Target would have made.
As the consumer these are the things we need to realize when we go rating these stores. If a packed parking lot upsets you, it makes Target happy because it means people are buying their products and helping target pay it's employees. If that parking lot were to be empty on a weekday at 530PM or a saturday afternoon, it would be great if you wanted to go in and out to spend 100 dollars, but it doesn't help Target's Bottom line.
All in all don't be fooled by the typical Pretentious, Narcissistic, self centered YELP reviewer giving anything less than 4 stars on this establishment. From what I have learned about YELP reviewers in Chicago the only way to keep them happy at your place of business is to do EVERYTHING to accommodate them even if it means sacrificing profits, or even the ability to pay for overhead. read more
