This Hobby Lobby is located on the upstairs floor of the HIP. It has its own entrance, which makes parking and entering much more convenient. My main focus when shopping here is to find home/seasonal decor and they usually run great sales. I find the decor to be more reasonably priced than Michael's. My only complaint is that I have personally witnessed the managerial staff on more than one occasion talk down to their employees. One of the cashiers was so upset with how she was spoken to that she started asking customers if they could please let the manager on duty know that it's not okay to speak with staff like that, in front of customers or otherwise. Managerial staff should get some training on how to speak with and support employees in situations, instead of talking down to and ridiculing them. read more

When I moved to Chicago a few years ago, there was not a Hobby Lobby location convenient to me. I've missed my regular stops there and am excited there is now a HL at the HIP mall. This is very cool, and I was finally able to stop in today, with my patient husband along to watch me browse! This location meets my expectations, as the store is well-stocked, bright and delightful. The service we received was perfect (thanks, Monica F. for your excellent service at the register), and I was very pleased to see plenty of The Paper Studio products in stock because that has been my go-to brand in the past for many scrapbooking products. I'm pretty sure it's exclusive to HL and is a brand that fails to disappoint. Tip: Make sure to print (or use phone app) the weekly 40% off coupon. I have attempted to visit the store tonight. I've been to about 6 different Joann and Michael's locations trying to find a gold powder for baking. It was 8 pm when I made it there as customers were leaving the store. I asked if they are closed. The gentleman said " yes, we close at 8 come back tomorrow". It was 8 pm on the dot. Asked if they carry the powder. He said yes. But that I have to come back. The door was still open for customers to exit. So I entered and saw a person and asked if they can check if it's in stock so I don't come back for no reason. It was 6 employees around the registers. No one allowed to help me and asked to come back tomorrow. I asked can you please help me as a human. They told me to " have a good night" and closed the door behind me. I thought that businesses need business in this tough time. Kicking out a customer that is trying to get to know the store is just ignorant. I went over so many stores and I was super exhausted. All I was begging for is help and I was kicked out. I understand closing time. But I am already there and it's 8 pm on the dot. Just disappointed in people. YES YES YES This place has it together I am an ex-Michael's customer. Their wait time to check out was always slow. Always only 2 people at the registers. Forget about trying to get help on their floor NOT HOBBY LOBBY There was 2 people in line behind me and automatically another opened her lane, and a manager nearby the cash registers. PLENTY of employees walking around the store HOBBY LOBBY'S PAINT SECTION?! Holy moly guacamole! Michael's paint section is almost always depleted and when it WAS stocked, looked to be stocked with returned half filled containers. This store makes Michael's look like the Dollar Tree (I went to try out this Hobby Lobby EVEN THOUGH I had a $10 gift card to Michael's!) KEEP IT UP HOBBY LOBBY @THE HIP! Are you a crafter? Maybe you? Oh, you're not? That's okay... just walk into this store and you'll WISH that you can figure out what type of crafter you want to be when you grow up. LOL! I had only been to Hobby Lobby before with someone I knew and it was a quick in\out so I didn't get a chance to take in what the store had to offer... fast forward to finally having a store closer to me (mind you, I am nowhere near the Harlem/Irving Plaza area but it's the closest) and O - M - G ... can you fall in love with a store? LOL!! That even my husband, the non-shopper of the household, was super impressed by the store. There are so many different aisles of things to look at... that you can get lost in there for HOURS! I am not joking - we walked through every single aisle. And I even went back to some of them trying to figure out what craft I wanted to do... I still haven't figured that out because I need to go back and look again. ;-) There was always someone around to ask a question - unlike some other craft stores that you have to search for someone to get help. I don't mind taking the drive up to the HIP cause I know that I am going to get great customer service and seriously great prices on either a craft to do or even something to brighten up my house. read more

Say what you will about Hobby Lobby, this is a beautiful store full of home decor and arts & crafts stuff. They just opened, and they're well-stocked. There's more here than the average Michaels (the competition two blocks away), with a decent amount of creative supplies. Closed Sundays because...well, the corporation is super religious and believes people should be in church. They also don't stock Halloween seasonal items because they're afraid children will become witches. Seriously...that's what a Hobby Lobby store manager told me. read more

We shop this store often with that said we are so unhappy with their"custom framing". We brought a print to be framed, gave specific directions on how we wanted it done and to call us if there were any questions or if they couldn't fulfill our request. They do not have a full-time framer so you can't even talk to anybody that really knows what they are doing as far as how to frame. We received a call that it was done, went to pick it up it was not done correctly. Told them again how we wanted the print positioned waited another 10 days for it to be corrected. Well it is finished the boarder is 4 inches too wide frame size is nowhere the original size we ordered. It appears their so called "custom frame"is basically a cut and paste they just order a template and put the product in it they do not custom anything. I will never buy a frame from there again. read more

Not much to say. I'm a teacher and tried to make a purchase using a tax exemption form on my phone, but the cashier stated the form has to be printed. The only store I've ever been to that requires a printed certificate. No more Hobby Lobby for me but honestly I shouldn't be shopping there anyway. Thanks for not helping teachers. read more

This location sucks!!! I came here to make a return since it was the closest store to me after making a purchase at the Niles location. It was within 90 days, I had my receipt, and the items weren't damaged. I looked online before making the drive out there to make sure I could return at any location, which hobby lobby's website says that you can. After unpacking 20 vases, the clerk told me I couldn't return them and gave me no reason why. She then called her manager who tried literally the same thing on the computer once and basically told me I was out of luck and would have to go to the original location I purchased at, still no reason why I'd have to do that. They also could not guarantee that the original location could figure it out. I called the Niles location immediately and the cashier there told me there's no reason norridge store couldn't have accepted my return. Terrible terrible customer service 10/10 do not recommend. Please try harder to come up with a solution instead of wasting peoples time and find better employees! read more

I love Hobby Lobby and come here frequently but one thing I've noticed i the employees aren't kind and neither is the manager. I once asked the manager for an item I was looking. And he rudely laughed at me and said no we don't have that. The employees even look miserable and I wouldn't doubt its because of him. I've been to the store about 2-3 times, but I decided I will never be back. During Christmas I purchased some candle stands with a few candlesticks.. the cashier bagged my items in a plastic bag. Two days later, I found similar items (less expensive) somewhere else therefore, I decided to return the items from Hobby lobby. As I approached the cashier for a refund, she proceeded to open the bag from which I had never removed the items,,she looked at the candle holders, and proceeded to inform me that these were used and they could NOT be returned, excuse me??!!! Her reason was that the candles had rubbed against the holders and now everything looked "dirty." I disagreed so she proceeded to call a manager which in turn agreed with her. I let them both know that I was stepping out of line to wipe these down and would return in a few minutes for my refund. Which is what I did and I was then given a full refund. No one should have to go thru this embarrassment... I will not be back. read more
