Second time visiting Tappo while in Buffalo and decided to come back again! Came in with some friends and we were able to sit on the top patio this time, which was really nice and made for a great atmosphere. The service however was not great. The hostess seemed a bit stressed and flustered, and our drinks came out around the same time as our food. That being said, the food itself was good, and I really appreciate that they have gluten-free options available for me. Overall, the food is good but I'm not sure I would opt come back

Mushroom Bisque at Tappo Italian Restaurant - Buffalo, NY
    Krista M.

I went to Tappo this past Tuesday before a Sabres game with my brother and overall it was a really solid pre-game dinner spot in Downtown Buffalo. While we had a 5pm reservation, in hindsight it probably wasn't necessary as we were seated right away and quickly greeted by our server, Allie G. To start, I ordered the Apple Cider Mule (mocktail) which was festive and delicious while my brother went for the Logan Mule (so Buffalo). Naturally, we wanted bread (what I thought was a given in an Italian restaurant). Sadly, it was $3 for warm bread, which felt a little rude, but of course I ordered it and devoured it, too! I also started with the mushroom bisque that was on special and it was fantastic as it was rich, flavorful, and the kind of soup you want to eat slowly so it lasts longer. For my entree I chose the Crespelle while my brother got his favorite, the Brasciole. The food was truly the highlight of the evening. Everything was prepared well and very, very satisfying. I would say that the service, unfortunately, left a bit to be desired. Not terrible, but not great. I hate having to ask another server to bring a box, the check, etc. because our server was no where to be found. There is free parking somewhere, though we only noticed the sign for it after we had already paid to park. That said, the atmosphere at Tappo is always lovely and the portions were generous for the price. Of course, I'd absolutely return - especially to try one of their fun igloos someday!

This was my first time here. The restaurant is very nice and the staff is friendly. The brick walls make it feel cozy with the modern decor. My friends looked ahead to see if they had gluten free options and said they did. The drinks were very good and I can see why the bar was busy. I ask the waitress, if there is gluten, free options and she said only one real option and that would be the risotto was shrimp that had a lobster sauce. I need to ask about another dish that looked good. And she stated, no, it was not available Gluten free. So apparently what is online is incorrect. I had the Shrimp and it was super yummy. I wish there was broccoli instead of cauliflower. The cauliflower was wonderful but made for a bland looking plate with all the white. Overall it was a great experience and the food and restaurant was great. Go and visit. You wont be disappointed

    Pork Ragu sauce over rigatoni
    Robert H.

Start with the appetizers, the meatballs and the warm bread which you had to pay for that was three dollars. I mean entrée was the pork Ragu over rigatoni. The food was very good. The service was excellent outstanding very attentive. It was very busy. It's kind of noisy in there. It's very open. I'll go back.

Came for drink and dinner before sheas. The espresso martinis had a spritz of lemon, which I've never seen, and were SO good! I also ordered the stuffed banana peppers and they were perfection. Some of the best tasting and most beautifully presented I've ever had. Tons of parking and a quick 5 minute walk to the theater

How warm is it inside the igloos?

Very warm; you get a cold burst when the waitress comes in but the rest of the time it's warm.

Is there a charge for eating in a igloo?

No, it was too cold this time but will be back

Has anyone tried the igloo dining?

You will need to call them ahead of time and get a group of 8 together I believe. They have a person who does all the bookings for it if you call them, they are pretty helpful in answering your questions as it may have changed this year.

    Is the rooftop wheelchair accessible?

    Unfortunately it is not.

We were in town attending a large national conference for families affected by their condition, and many conference attendees were also staying at the hotel. When we arrived, the restaurant appeared to be about 80% empty. Our children mentioned to the waitress that they were hungry and tired, and the first response we received was, "Do you have a reservation?" She explained that they couldn't seat us because they were expecting a large party. Instead of being seated at a regular table, we were directed to the bar area, where the bartender kindly took care of us despite the fact that our group included two minors. We stayed for over an hour, and during that time, the large party never arrived. Meanwhile, we watched other guests without reservations get seated at tables without any apparent issue. The experience left us feeling singled out and, ultimately, discriminated against. Whether that was the intention or not, it reflected a disappointing lack of empathy and inclusion--especially considering that so many families with children with disabilities were staying at the hotel for the conference. I'm giving Bella Ciao three stars because the food was decent, the portions were generous, and the bartender provided good service. Unfortunately, the way we were treated upon arrival overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.

I ordered the Rosemary Frites, which were a delicious appetizer. I had the maple salmon salad as my meal, and it was amazing! The chèvre was so fresh, the greens were great, and the salmon, wow! A delicious meal that I got two meals out of because I took half of it home, as it's a pretty large portion. Originally, I was given the wrong order that I couldn't have due to dietary restrictions, but the waitress was very kind and gave me the correct one, as well as taking it off of my bill. I really appreciated that! We got macarons as dessert and they were super yummy as well. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Coco, and it will be in my rotation of "special occasion" local restaurants going forwards!

The music was a mix of French and English jazzy music. We stared with a bread basket ($6) and it was cold in the center, probably related to our very early arrival. The wine list had plenty of good choices at normal 10-13 dollar per glass prices. My mushroom pappardelle with chicken was beautiful and a large serving. If we weren't traveling I could have taken home a lunch portion easily. My dining partner had salmon salad and he was deeply pleased with his choice. The salmon looked great and he praised the light hand dressing the salad and loved the well balanced maple flavor. Deserts were both very well done. My flourless chocolate cake was dense, dark and served with a powerful raspberry reduction. The other desert was an apricot cake which was very similar to a sticky toffee pudding with a gentle fruity tang. Really good. Overall I enjoyed our meal here a lot but I could imagine an even better experience. Rather than the very large entrees offered A la carte, I would have enjoyed a more manageable serving of pasta and a side salad or a cup of soup. There were multiple fruit and house flies around where we sat which was unfortunate. For what I think is edging into fine dining. I think the value factor here was ok. Our dinner for 2 with bread, 1 glass of wine each and 2 deserts totaled about 125 with tax before tip.

The Margherita focaccia was by far the worst of the night, soggy and flavorless, the focaccia was nothing like a normal one. The tuna had a nice presentation though it was quite mediocre, the rice was hard in some parts and seemed quite old, the tuna itself was fine but the dish as a whole was maybe on par with sushi you'd get at a wegmans. As my entrée I got the carrot papardella, everything seemed overcooked, hardly any lobster and what little was happened to be tough and rather flavorless, of course it was the same with the shrimp and crab. The pasta was overcooked and stuck to itself and the sauce was quite sweet and far too hot, twenty minutes into the meal and it was still steaming, continuing to turn the dish into mush. The meal was for three people and came out to be $240 after tax and tip, the service was nice but considering the praise this restaurant got I'm sure it's went downhill. The highlight of the meal was the complementary bread at the start.
