As a beer lover, Taphouse was recommended to my husband and me. Todd, the bartender was helpful, welcoming and attentive. When I told him my beer likes, Todd made excellent recommendations which I totally loved. The food was excellent and the service was superb. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to New Jersey. read more

I recognize that newer restaurants need time to work out the kinks and find its groove. However, I went here tonight with my family and felt that even the basic things were lackluster at best. Our food was rather bland. My wife's mashed potatoes were tasteless (on par with powdered potatoes!). My beer brats were burnt, along with the potatoes. Our server (I will not call anyone out online) missed the mark on the most basic levels. For example, she knocked our daughter's silverware on the floor (which is no biggie) but then never returned with replacement silverware. A lot of time passed after our food arrived before she came by to see how things were and so I could order a refill. When we finally received our bill, we immediately gave her our credit card. When she returned, she began to take the order of the table next to us before she placed the receipts on our table so we could be on our way (she had it on her). I will say, the beer selection was good. It made up for the chemical taste in the cola! read more

I have been to this restaurant several times, but have never been as disappointed as I was this time. I've always found the quality of food to be fair, but the service can be hit or miss. The disappointing thing is that the menu pretty much stays the same, but as a creature of habit, that's not the end of the world. In general, I don't really think the value of the menu is decent. I will happily pay a premium for a premium meal, but that's not really the case here. And I could not believe when I got the check, and I was being charged for soda refills. Charging customers for soda refills, especially when there is no indication of this new policy, is a clear sign of a restaurant being desperate for money. Because of this, I won't be back! read more

Taphouse Grille - Sante Fe burger wow much deliciousness - New American Near Me - Hackettstown, New Jersey

We checked this place out a few weekends ago, and had mixed feelings about it. We were seated immediately, and didn't have to wait long for food at all. Our server was also very friendly, although we were forced to sit through a ten-minute sermon on the daily specials. We ordered calamari for an app, and I have to say, it was bananas. Super light and crispy, with tangy peppers and artichokes to round it out. I wasn't starving, so I got a small cup of turkey chili with a side of broccoli raab. The chili was just the ticket - hot, spicy and not too salty. But the broccoli raab was awful. People say broccoli raab is always bitter, but I have cooked it in my own kitchen and frankly I don't think it's that hard to make it not taste like battery acid, which was the case here. I literally spit out my first bite and didn't make another attempt. Overall, the Taphouse Grille seems a bit overpriced, but the ambiance and the service make for a nice evening out. read more

The service was great and the beer was cold but the food was unremarkable but safe. The shrimp tacos were messy but delicious once you put them back together. My chicken was dry and lacked flavor along with the side vegetable. Worth a visit if you're going to watch a game or have a few drinks and appetizers with friends. read more

I would usually wait till a new restaurant was open for a few months before I tried it myself however I decided to give it a shot! The inside decor was very nice and cute, I loved it! The big bar room when you first walk in will definitely bring in people as well. Both the person I was with and myself had salads because we were not in the mood for burgers/sandwiches or hungry enough for a whole entree. Our salads were decently sized and I have zero complaints. I had overheard another waitress telling her table that the already decently sized menu would most likely be bigger in the next few months. I would love to go back and try an entree next time! The hostess and wait staff were average, no one went over and above but no one was awful that I would feel the need to complain. I would recommend Taphouse for anyone looking for a burger, salad or entree! read more

Food was great. Service was very good and friendly. Loved all the menu choices. Pizza was so good thin crust and fresh mozzarella One of the best pizzas I've eaten. The French onion soup was loaded with cheese and had crispy fried onions piled on top. So yummy. I was almost full just from the soup. read more

Decent food, good service and a good beer selection. They are food allergy conscious which was a huge plus for us. The French onion burger with the truffle fries was good and cooked perfectly. read more

This place has become a huge disappointment. We've dined here 3 times in the last 2 months including this past weekend. The service is absolutely atrocious and the food is so inconsistent you really never know if you're going to get a good meal. The food is never the same or is under cooked or over cooked. My fathers pork chop was completely raw and the fried eggplant we ordered was a thick piece of rubber. The new cocktails taste different every time we order one. Service i just no where to be found. We asked for the manager the last time we had a issue and also received a attitude from him. This used to be a good spot for dinner but things have changed in the last couple months. Very disappointing. read more

Excellent service! Delicious food and great atmosphere. Great selection of beer too! Whenever I go whether it's lunch or dinner, it's always so nice. It's one of the nicest restaurants in Hackettstown that I would go to for special occasions! It used to be a different Italian restaurant and they've recreated it and made it better! They serve delicious American food. I would recommend the fish tacos for appetizers. You can never wrong with the pasta dishes either. Their desserts are also delectable. Hope you have a chance to try it! read more

Yes! This is a great addition to the area. The place was full -- bar area and dining room were full of life. Our party of five waited about ten minutes to be seated. Waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were on point. Wings were crispy and delicious with a yum blue cheese. The pulled pork on the nachos has us all scraping the plate. While I don't usually order filet mignon at place like this, our waitress said it was her favorite. Really excellent. Great Marsala like sauce, with cheesy potatoes and spinach. Only negatives on the crowd for food -- entree size salad on the small side and fish tacos a little salty. We are excited to come back and bring friends. Right now it blows away most other choices for food and atmosphere. read more

Overpriced for the quality of food. We went recently again and 3 of us order medium rare and the meat was essentially raw. Pretty bad. Top it off it was expensive again for the quality. read more

Great burgers and my daughter loves the penne vodka. Fries were really greasy but al in all great meals!

We placed a large order on Mother's Day through a delivery service. The delivery time kept getting pushed back and finally was canceled. My wife was naturally disappointed at having no Mother's Day treat. Then we got a call from the grill. A gentleman, I thought might be the manager said he was sorry the service which they don't control canceled, but that he would deliver the order himself at no charge. Since we live 14 miles away, we offered to pickup ourselves, but he said he was ready to go. The food was was excellent. More importantly, in tough times people show what they're made of. The Taphouse Grille is made of good people who deserve your business. They made our Mother's Day. read more

The chili basil margarita is amazing. Also had the nicest service. I thoroughly enjoyed

Loved this place! Food was very generously proportioned and the service was outstanding!!! I highly recommend the linguine with clams! William's service was comparable to a 5 star restaurant!! Thank you Tap House for restoring my faith in a Warren County establishment. read more

So NOT IMPRESSED! Got Pasta Caprese. Was barely warm. I had to ask for grated cheese and by the time that came it was cold. The Pasta could have cooked longer. We also got a burger and had to ask for ketchup. Can honestly say in the handful of times Ive eaten here I NEVER got a great meal. Wont be back! read more

My husband and i went here on our way to a nearby brewery. We had an excellent host. Who seated us right away on the patio. A lovely lady quickly took our drink order. The selection of craft brews is excellent and varied. I loved the unique menu. It was definitely different. Our server Amanda was courteous and fun to talk with. She steared us in the right direction with everything. My husband and i both had burgers and they were cooked perfectly. He had the steakhouse burger and i had a lamb gyro burger. Both outstanding. The gyro burger tasted like a real gyro. I would order again. The thin fries were crunchy on the outside and tender in the inside. Yummy. Will go again. read more

Great place with great beer on tap- very nice menu with lots to pick from - Berger's and steaks are awsome as well at the well drinks

The drinks that we got are all good. They were out of the drink that we wanted so we had to get a different one that was not good. The water needs much improvement though. The waiter came over about 10 times and did not take our order. After finally coming over to take our order, they told us they were out of the food we wanted. As a suggestion, they should add some regular broccoli to the menu. After finishing dinner, our waiter didn't come to our table, only passed by us. He took very long to collect our dishes and to offer desert (which we did not have, because there isn't enough time in the day). And to one of us, the waiter called an older girl, a little girl and that is extremely rude. Once again, the atmosphere is nice but it is pretty chilly in here so bring a sweater!! The service and everything is very super slow. -a 12 year old read more

The outside of this restaurant doesn't look like it's going to be all that good, but we had a GREAT meal there the other night! It was lively sitting in a booth by the bar and all three of us thought our meals were terrific. My companions had fritto misto to start, then one had the chicken and the other had the pork chop, while I had the mamma mia pizza -- easily the best pizza I've had in a long time. They raved about their dishes, and I got to try the pork chop, which was tender and very flavorful. Our server was extremely personable as well. I would definitely go back again. Highly recommend this place if you happen to be in or near Hackettstown! read more

Fantastic burgers and consistently good beer selection. We've been regulars for years and have been doing takeout in lieu of in person dining during covid and still so damn good! read more

I really wanted to like this place but my wife and I were disappointed with the food. We went on a Saturday with a reservation and was seated promptly. Atmosphere, noice level, and table space all good so we were optimistic. After hearing so much about the burgers here, I ordered the THG burger and it came out cold as a cucumber however my accompanied onion rings were ok. My wife had a steak ordered medium and it came out medium rare. Portion was small for the price. I had a mixed drink that they did not skimp on. Drink prices were respectable. There is no reason for serving cold meals especially burgers. May come back but not for a while. read more

Dunno what changed here, in the last few months, but it's definitely not for the better! We used to go here once or twice a week for Happy Hour and the food and staff were great. Recently, they cut the menu to less than half of what they used to have. What's left is still very good, but the choice is limited. Our biggest complaint is the service. The bartenders don't have a clue about customer service. - Example - we sat at the bar, and were asked what we wanted. We asked for beer menus. We were given one beer menu (for 3 of us), and were asked within 2 minutes if we knew what beers we wanted. We asked for 2 more menus. - Example - we asked if the Specials menu was available yet (it was 5pm), and were told that it wasn't, but it was "all seafood stuff", so if we didn't want that, we didn't need to wait. OK. - Example - we ordered Fried Pickles as an appy. 5 minutes later, she told us that they were out of pickles, then turned and walked away. OK. Maybe we wanted something else? When we were able to get her attention again (it wasn't that crowded), we asked if we could order some food. - Example - we were at the end of the bar where the wait staff gathers, and all we could hear from them was how annoying their current customers were! "This old guy keeps asking questions....". "This *** lady..." It was astonishing that they were ALL participating in the negative gossip about the very people that paid their salary. This needs to be addressed ASAP, since it was very easy to hear, and very disturbing. Long and short of it - we'll go back maybe once a month to see if anything improves, but this was the 3rd or 4th time in a row that we've had experiences like this. Such a shame, cause we really liked this place and recommended it to many folks over the past few years. Now we'll probably warn folks instead. read more

New restaurant, so I'm willing to cut it some slack and expect it to be busy. As part of a party of six, we had a long wait, understandable, right? They have a decent beer selection, so we enjoyed a couple rounds during the wait....for some reason we were id'd during every round though (we're in our 30's btw). Also during that time, we had the pleasure to watch the owner aggressively grab and drag the hostess to the back. Obviously we were disgusted and debated leaving, but were finally seated. We were hungry so decided to stay and try the food. After glancing over the menu, I decided on fish tacos and I was first to order. Turns out they're all out of all fish, at 8 pm. So I had the server continue around the table and I'd be ready by the end, she walked away without coming back to me...Eventually she realized her mistake and I ordered a medium rare burger. More on the food. In my party there were four burgers, a bratwurst patter and pulled pork sandwich. Three of the burgers were at least two steps over cooked and one was under, the pulled pork looked like cat food and the brat tasted like it was microwaved. Avoid this place, there are better options everywhere! read more

Went here for date night and will definitely be back. It's easy to use to get to and parking is convenient, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Service was efficient and prompt and they have an ample beer selection. Food was delicious, portions were huge and very fairly priced. The atmosphere was lively and fun. I am happy to have a trendy, relatively upscale place to eat in this area (and I am grateful they refused to allow the dog to stay in the dining area.) read more

Great food and great libations topped off with great service. The specials are always great and the beer selection is ever-changing.

I have to start out by saying the staff, including the waitress was very pleasant and checked on us frequently. The restaurant also appeared to be clean and a nice environment. However, I ordered a salad with olives, provolone cheese, artichoke and cherry tomatoes. It was 98% lettuce and 1-2 pieces of everything else that was supposed to be on it. My sister had a burger and although it wasn't horrible, she was not too impressed. As disappointed as I was, I do think I should give them another chance in a few months. read more

I really enjoyed this place. The waiter was attentive, and the seating was comfortable. The food was very good, sort of an upscale bar food menu. The pricing was decent, a little above what I thought it would be, but all in all a very good meal. Parking is ample, in a strip mall setting. read more

This had been our favorite local go to place for dinner. We love so many things on the menu. But was very disappointed tonight. They have cut the size and quality of their personal pizzas in half. The pies looks like an oversized English muffin on the metal plate and to go pizza box. Would never order another bar pie from there unless they change back. They have fantastic food and a good variety of choices but every good pub needs a top notch bar pie as an alternative. Very bad decision to change it in order to cut costs. French onion soup was also off tonight. Hoping it was just an anomaly and not another conscious decision to change the recipe like the bar pies. Heaven and Hell burger with ghost pepper cheese special is fantastic! So is the wedge salad with steak. Wait staff and bar tenders were terrific as usual. Bring back the old bar pies and I will change my rating to 5-stars! read more

Ah, I wish this place was closer to where I live! I stopped in for a bite while visiting my Dad. The food was amazing, service was quick, staff was so friendly and the atmosphere is so cool. Consistently good food. Cool cocktails. Entertainment on weekends. Great management and wait staff. Brought a last minute birthday party here and they put together a nice table for my group and the waitress was very attentive, kind and responsive.
