Half dozen garlic ranch wings with blue cheese dip
Lailah J.

Sparta, NJ - solid pub food & brewskis in a cozy log cabin tavern setting. We were recommended the wings so ordered a dozen: half garlic ranch and half Cajun dry rub, served with blue cheese. They're pretty meaty. I aced the food pyramid between the mac & cheese w/ short rib, fried brussel sprouts, and Three Sisters Golden Wheat beer I ordered (with a slice of orange). The brisket burger w/ cheddar & fries my husband had looked good, though he didn't understand why it didn't automatically come with lettuce & tomato, as he's a traditionalist when it comes to burgers. Service was friendly and family friendly. All in all a very satisfying meal. The restaurant is housed in a historic building right across from Lake Mohawk, and the rooftop bar is open seasonally with a view toward the lake.

What a great vintage place to go anytime. We went on a Friday afternoon after cutting the Christmas tree down. My daughter recommended it. You walk into a step back in time with carved chairs and log walls. Very cool. We were 4 plus my 1 year old granddaughter. Everyone had a burger except me. I had a bratwurst sandwich. The burgers were cooked perfectly and were big and juicy. My bratwurst was flavorful and also delicious. The sweet potato fries were the best I ever had. We did have a French onion soup that was loaded with onions and piping hot just the way I like it. The service was friendly and prompt. I highly recommend you try this place. Enjoy.

Smokin Buffalo Wings

It's a really cool looking restaurant rustic with a very nice bar when the weather is warmer there is a rooftop area drinks only no food served up there. The servers hostesses and bartenders are always extremely pleasant and nice to deal with. We have been here many times today we had buffalo wings, brussels sprouts French dip sandwich and a Greek salad. The Greek salad was OK. The wings are always very good. The French dip was very good and the brussels sprouts were excellent. I tried a couple of the local beers and IPAs and unfortunately again don't love their beers, but I keep trying new ones all in. I definitely will be back . Just wish I could find a beer there that I like I do recommend a visit.

Spicy rigatoni

Came here with friends for a Friday lunch. Had the spicy rigatoni which was very good and more than an ample serving. Friends had the burger and the Cobb salad. All very satisfied. Will definitely be back

Krogh's Restaurant & Brew Pub was established in 1927 by Frede Krogh. They have a semi-rustic dining area called the" Gallery" and a rooftop bar called the "Krogh's Nest" which affords a view of scenic Lake Mohawk. Louvered windows & doors allow an open air experience, as well as, an outdoor patio. The brewery is adjacent to the restaurant while the bar area is comfortable, charming and reminiscent of days gone by. Krogh's is also pet friendly to well trained dogs which Oatie appreciates. Oatie and I stopped by on a beautiful Autumn day for a quick bite. I had the Cheesesteak Sandwich ($18). Sauteed peppers & onions, slices of cheese served on a Ciabatta roll. A good portion of steak, I might add. Cheese steak sandwiches pair well with 64 oz growlers, four sample flights and 10 oz. drafts from the brewery.

Overall, good. My complaint is tight quarts to pack everyone in. Put us next to the bathroom which was a big turn off.

We had trouble deciding on which pizzas to order (they all looked delicious) but finally decided on the Red Red Vine (fire roasted grape tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, olive oil, & balsamic drizzle) and the Porta Bella (portabella, mushroom, spinach, roasted pepper, fresh mozzarella, & balsamic drizzle). Both were fantastic and perfectly cooked - the mushrooms were fresh (not canned, thank goodness). Also - I'm kind of a sucker for a good crust and this HAD IT ((chefs kiss)). Can't wait to come back!! As a side note -- there are two separate entrances... the front entrance is to the dining room and the back entrance is to the bar. I don't think you can access them both without going outside (but you'd have to confirm with the staff).

The chicken wings had a good crisp, the side salad I asked for was fresh, the cheese steak roll was pillowy soft and was nicely cheesy, and most importantly, the gentleman behind the bar who took our order was a fantastically nice guy The cons. The garlic parm sauce on the wings were a bit lacking and the amount of meat on the cheese steak was only half enough to really fill that long roll. And the most irksome thing was the 2,23 % "technology fee". No offense but WTH is that?????? If it was to use the credit card, it wasn't explained at all. Look, if you like a funky bar with good food and you are in the area, I would say check it out once in your life and form your opinion. But, for me, I just don't know how often

One of the northern most breweries in the state. 3. While NJ breweries legally can't have kitchens and serve cooked food, this brewery has by far the most amount of snacks on offer out of any NJ brewery I've been to. Peanuts, pretzels, jerky, tortilla chips and salsa, etc. and even an indoor s'mores kit complete with a portable flame for roasting your marshmallows right at your seat. 4. Huge menu given the size of its taproom. I counted 18 beers on tap + a variety of hard seltzers. Some of the beers are absolutely bonkers (exhibit A, your Honor: a mushroom and rosemary saison). My girlfriend and I each had a flight and a full pour and enjoyed what we had. As a beer nerd, I appreciate how well organized the menu is: all beers have a detailed description and are presented in order from light to dark. Like many breweries these days, they charge a 3.75% credit card fee, which is disclosed on the menu. Overall a really nice place with some interesting and enjoyable beers. We live in South Jersey so nowhere close, but if we're ever in the area again we would come back.
