I remember dining here years ago, and if you fancy a colorful and lively atmosphere with Spanish plates for sharing, you'll get an authentic taste of Barcelona at Tapas Barcelona. We returned again recently and met up with friends, for a convivial evening of sangria and small plates. Of course we ordered Paella Valenciana, and also, well, what didn't we order? We enjoyed: Alcachofas a la Vinagreta, Aceitunas Alinadas, Datilles a la Sevillana, Queso de Cabra con Tomate and Patatas Bravas and many others. Followed up by Bizcocho Borracho. Fun to share, lively and fun, veg plates available, parking challenging, a nice place for friends.

This tapas restaurant in Evanston is great! They have a variety of cold and hot dishes, all with good prices. For a party of 4 we shared 6 or 7 dishes as well as a pitcher of white sangria. The food came out really quickly and was brought out as it was ready. Each dish that we ordered was good but I think my personal favorites were the octopus and the grilled squid! The texture and flavoring of the octopus was so good and the sauce with the squid was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try some more dishes.

This is a very cute place to have lunch. Nice sit down tables enough room for a good conversation with a little bit of privacy. The entrees were good, thoughtfully done portions were not gigantic but they were enough. Service was attentive without being overwhelming. It was overall a very good experience and a place that we would like to visit again.

Yummy food and great service. We will surely come back if in Evanston. We ordered Paella Valenciana as well as the seafood only paella, Bacon Wrapped dates, Gambas, Octopus Plancha, Calamari, Patatas Bravas, Rigatoni Pasta for the younger ones, the Feta cheese dip and pitchers of Sangria, and several desserts. Ice cream, Banana, Tiramisu. Everything was yummy, orders arrived at a reasonable time.

Came here for an impromptu date night with my husband. I've been here many times over the years. I'll be honest that it's decent tapas but it's not the best tapas. They have the advantage that they are the only tapas restaurant in the area so when in the mood and we don't want to go downtown, we come here! The complimentary bread is very tasty and I ate it with the queso de cabra because the dish only came with 4 skinny pieces of bread! The datiles are delicious and definitely worth a try. The bravas aren't spicy, nor are the potatoes crispy which is typical for other tapas restaurants, but good flavor nonetheless.

Food was delicious! Valencia paella was outstanding. Crab, avocado, cucumber cold plate was delightfully refreshing. Chicken Empanada, steak skewers, snails, pizza, roasted seasoned potatoes, were all wonderful! Creme brulee for dessert - yum! Red sangria and chardonnay for beverages. We had an amazing late lunch, highly recommend. Or server was informative, excellent service! We ate outside, delightful breeze.

I don't give a lot of 5 stars, but this place deserves it. We dropped in around 6:30 and luckily they found a table for three of us. We had the pitcher of sangria, which they did right. No ice in the pitcher just in the glasses. pieces of apple, citrus in the glasses. We ordered an emapanadilla. A large empanada filled with lamb and chorizo. comes with spinach leaves and tomato. Wow a great decision on our part. Really good with a honey mustard mayo. We had the Valencia paella. It was perfect for the three of us. We had a small amount of leftover. Fresh mussels chicken chorizo and chewy rice. So yummy. There's so many dishes to choose from. We'll be back often.

My darling daughter and I came for dinner ! We had been wanting to come here for a few weeks already . Guess what ? Best decision ever! The food was so delicious and uniquely spiced. Every dish and something special to it . We ordered the Patatas Bravas, Fettuccine, Scalloped Pork and Eggplant with goat cheese!! Wow wow wow! Highly recommend and service was great ! Make sure you reserve your table in advance because they get really full. Great customer service and quality!

Came here for a family dinner. Its one of the few places that can accommodate a big group. I was actually so surprises that not more restaurants could do this. Anyway, the food was really good. Their Paella was very tasty, seafood is really fresh. I dis like my Ceviche but it wasnt what i expected. I thought it would always come with chips to dip it in but its a very dofferent kind of ceviche, nevertheless i did like it! We alao had their Ribeye. The portion is a bit smaller than what you expect a ribeye would be but taste wise it was delicious. Its served on top of potatos with some ribeye sauce. The grilled octopus was my favorite. Must order! These are small portions, i guess its what Tapas are. Small appertizer options. But still worth a try. Happy Eating!

I've always loved the food here but I met my parents from out of town last night and all three of us got violent food poisoning. It was the only thing we ate together so I know it was from here. Very disappointed, but at least it tasted good.

The ambiance and the service was outstanding. Food came out staggered and quickly, waiter was quirky and attentive. However the food was incredibly subpar in flavor. Fun ideas, but one note amateur tastes. I felt like 80% of the dishes we had I could have made myself at home and that's not a good thing...but all that matters is my brother had a wonderful time for his birthday. Highlights: the goat cheese stuffed eggplant rolls: superb! Tasted how I expected the entire menu to be. Fried calamari was delicious and the spicy marinara was great. Bacon wrapped dates were good, brother never had them and was blown away lol Terrible: the ceviche. It was NOT. Ceviche. It was frutii de mare with raw bell peppers. No thank you, we barely touched it.

The menu features a variety of Spanish tapas, pintxos, small plates, and Paella. You are meant to order plates to share with table. Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba really prides themselves in serving authentic Spanish food and providing guests with a unique experience. The restaurant itself is very cute and has a fun vibe about it. There are plenty of seating options and a gorgeous bar as well. Service was wonderful! Our server did an excellent job checking in on us, refilling waters, and just making sure we were satisfied with everything. We did get a reservation via OpenTable, this is always necessary, but I would recommend doing this, especially on the weekends. We ordered a couple plates to start and the ended up ordering more throughout our meal. I really love that you can do this, it paces the food and allows you to enjoy the experience more. We put in orders for 2 of the goat cheese baked in tomato sauce, a patatas bravas, Spanish olives, and Spanish meatballs (Al Jerez). The food came out in a timely manner and was served made to order. We dove right in! The goat cheese was luscious and perfect on that cold afternoon. It's baked in their old world Spanish oven and served with house garlic bread. This dish was super creamy, with a nice tang from the tomatoes, and just phenomenal. The patatas bravas were just divine! The spicy potato's were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and yet soft on the inside. They paired perfectly with sun-dried tomato aioli they were served with as well. The Spanish Meatball were decent as well. They had great texture and I really enjoyed the sherry tomato sauce they were served in. For our next round, we had to order more patatas bravas because they were just that good! We also got some calamari and extra bread for the remaining baked goat cheese. The fried calamari comes with tomato crudo and a jalapeño aioli. It was nice and crispy, nothing too special but still hit the spot nonetheless. Overall, I was so happy my friends and I came here! The food was amazing all around, no complaints at all. The service was great as well. They are very accommodating and do a great job taking care of guests. Loved the interior of the restaurant, it was super cozy! I will definitely have to return next time I'm in the area to try more tapas. Highly recommend!

Parking is sort of a pain, you have to find street parking, might have to pay, or you can use their $20 vallet parking. V made me drive, and I misjudged how far we'd have to walk. Not a good start. We arrived at 8:20pm on a Sunday, while they close at 9pm, they serve until 9pm, and the place doesn't clear out until 10pm, so we were good. We were greeted and seated quickly in a fairly crowded dining room. My aging eyes found the menu difficult to read with small print on yellowish paper, so I used the light on my phone. It's not pretty, but neither is ordering food when you can't see what it is LOL. Our waiter greeted us promptly, and took our drink order, and offered up a specials menu. As I'm driving, I just got iced tea, V ordered a pitcher of passion fruit Sangria. He said the Sangria wasn't great, I tried some, and I thought is was drinkable. It definitely has a kick as V got a bit giddy as the night progressed. V ordered the Seafood Paella (takes 45 minutes), so as a starter, we ordered the Fried Calamari, which was sadly overcooked. It was half crumbs, though the sauce was tasty. With time to kill, we followed that with Lamb Brouccetta (no seasoning, just lamb), on a bed of French Fries (star of the night), grilled potatoes (yummy dipping sauce), and grilled peppers, which were quite tasty and unique. The Seafood Paella arrived, and it was massive. Food for two and then some. We didn't need all the appetizers except for killing time, so we ended up with a lot of Paella to go. I don't like Paella; it always tastes fishy, although this Paella was at least edible, unlike what I had in Barcelona. The waiter was attentive and had a spark of personality. Vigilio thought the bar area where we were seated was loud, but I didn't have any issues talking.

As we were just seated next to her and her date, they were being served another shot and she she started by really drunkenly yelling how she liked my dress and how sexy I was, which only continued to escalate over the next 15 minutes as she yelled across the tables in a constant loop about how she wanted to take me home and that "everyone in the restaurant here wants to take you home" "I can't stop staring at you" "you're such a sex kitten" while clawing in the air at me. During this time as we're trying to order and ignore her/deflect as much as possible she also pulled down her shirt and bra to flash us and the general restaurant, and then also broke a glass trying to cheers us (her date then kept drinking from the very broken glass that's how wasted these people were). It all culminated with her coming over to me to ask to hug me, and her and her date stumbling and knocking their melted ice bucket allllllll over my legs and staff had to help physically walk her out. They offered us a new table and moved our sangrias and first plate while they cleaned up the mess, and then we were pretty promptly ignored for a while without water or new menus until after another 20 minutes when we finally flagged down someone else for those. When we were finally checked up on at our new table, we were told they were only accepting kitchen orders for 5 more minutes (it was 9:40, when we made our reservation for 9pm we made sure they were open till 11 so we'd have at least 2 hours! It's tapas!!!!!) but whatever, we rushed to put in the second round of tapas plates and dessert at the same time. Even though other tables were still there and it was only a little after 10, we were getting pushed to box up as we were still eating and ended up being out the door by 10:30.... NO COMP for ANYTHING. Not even the dessert! In fact, we got LESS complimentary offerings than they usually do when guests haven't even been sexually harassed, spilled on, and moved across the restaurant after food and drinks just arrived. We were given complimentary shots the first time we dined here, and it seemed like this time the couple harassing us got free shots that night, but they didn't even give that to us and properly apologize. I thought they understood that we were being nice and patient about a huge scene. If they had taken this seriously and even just comp'd a dessert or sent a small offering I would have felt more respected, but to be charged full price after such a horrendous and upsetting evening felt pretty insulting. I've worked in fine dining before, and when the average bill is 100$/person, you comp much more for much less. We were just so shaken and shocked by the whole evening that we left that night without disputing that and resolved to call during a slow time next day. So, I call the restaurant and I'm being given the runaround when I'm asking for a manager to talk about the experience and ask for a refund. They say they won't have a manager present for days but "he'll call me." I call back again in a few hours... the manager was there and in fact he was my server!! He claims they didn't know anything happened, but he was present for enough and when I pushed back on what he witnessed he backtracked and conceded! Nobody would give me the contact information for the owner (it seems other reviewers have been given it before for to resolve issues) but they say he will review the cameras and call me the next day. Next day no call... I call again to check in, get someone that was very nice and I do believe advocated for me, but the owner has this employee call back to deliver his message: they've reviewed and that while they're sorry that happened to us, we accepted the new table and dinner service was completed so there will be no refund of any items but if we come in again we'll get 20% off - Oh thanks for letting us come and only spend another 160$ at your establishment. The owner (who is a former lawyer) said the tapes are for courts reviewing overserving, so I guess he wants us to report the overserving instead of offering a refund! I've really been trying in good faith to get some resolution with upper management/owner privately, but it doesn't seem like the owner cares that they let a lesbian couple get sexually harassed by their belligerently drunk guests.

Tea and lamb shashuka). Additionally, I was also charged for tea even though I I never had any but thankfully, they removed it. I had ordered tea and was initially told that they would be looking for the canister of loose leaf teas and then we were told that they didn't have enough canisters and too many canisters were broken. Um....ooookaaaay. We ordered two chicken kabob plates, grilled haloumi kebab and Moroccan onion dip. Their specialty drinks we got were: chocolate honey Carajillo, passion fruit spritz and then the say less. The drinks were delicious but a tad steep. Overall, food was delicious, they did skimp on the rice, I wish they added more. Their harissa was very good, spicy with a kick..would have loved it more if our waiter didn't forget the first time we asked for it. Chicken was well portioned, well seasoned and good flavor but it needed more rice to eat it with. The cheese was really good as well. Oh yeah, we also got the strawberry ricotta toast and that was....interesting. The cost to quality ratio needs work. The prices here are pretty steep and you get what you pay for here. For this dish we asked that the sour cream be omitted, and that the vegan queso be substituted in place of the original queso. We also opted to "add a protein", the vegan chorizo. Soon after placing our orders, the waitress returned to let us know that there would be a $17 upcharge for each vegan queso substitution. We all looked at each other a bit dumbfounded. An order for their regular queso is $15, and an order for their vegan queso is $17, so wouldn't it make sense for the upcharge to be $2 to substitute it on the dish?! We, ultimately, decided to order one Kamoosh De La Choza, and an order of just the vegan queso. I've had and made, many a vegan ques., some, with or without cashews. Staff were so kind and willingly shared recommendations and explanations to us. They have a happy hour on the weekend. We ordered small plates - shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, pimento cheese with homemade chips and flatbread. It was more than enough food , but I would like to return to try their cheeses, and larger portions. I am not a fan of most chips, but these were so good, and the pimento cheese was savory , spreadable and very good. The prosciutto flatbread was a mixture of sweet cream and savory. The salt from the prosciutto and the sweetness from the figs was perfect. Our waiter overheard us mentioning an upcoming special occasion and treated us to a slice of cheesecake topped with berry sauce. The cheesecake was so fluffy and the chevre cheese was creamy and had a touch of goat flavor. Uvae lived up to my expectations and we will return.
