I really wanted to like Tap That, but I walked away feeling a bit underwhelmed. The self-pour concept is fun in theory, but the beer selection didn't impress me--especially considering the prices. For what you pay and the fact that you're pouring your own beer, I expected either more variety or more standout options on tap. That said, the food was definitely the highlight. I've past Tap That so many times and never thought to stop in and now I'm sad I've missed so much time! From the outside, it doesn't look like much until you get past the wooden fence. The front is nicely designed with so much setting. Each table has some type of games their for your own entertainment. When you walk inside the building, you are met with so much alcohol on taps and decent setting area. There is also a setting area in the back that I didn't have a chance to get during my visit but seemed very lively. When we got in, we were greeted by the nicest host who explained how everything works. We got our Tap card and went over the walk of booze to taste test and figure out what we wanted. We ended up getting a Guava beer which was the tastiest beer I've ever had. There was good music playing and so many people coming and going. The vibes were so nice. We weren't really hungry but wanted to try something off the menu so decided to get the burger.. The meal came with fries and it was a good size, super tasty. This place is a great lunch spot! It's got outdoor board games like large Jenga, large Connect Four, and corn hole to keep everyone entertained. And a wall full of beer taps with many TVs (perfect for sports fans). All the food we got were very tasty, crispy, and juicy! - the onion rings, the PBLT, and the skirt steak. This is probably the tastiest spot to go to at Far Rockaway. Why I gave it 4 stars is because it is advertised as a to go spot.m, which is what we wanted as we planned to eat at the beach. However they do not have all the plastic utensils to go. We needed a knife for the skirt steak but only had a plastic fork, and while trying to bite off a steak, the fork shattered to many pieces . We ended up eating the steak with our bare hands. Luckily I always bring extra napkins, so it wasn't the worst but it was the most caveman dining experience I've had. A small menu and there's always specials. The star of the show is the pour it yourself beer or wine. You get charged by the ounce. It's a great idea. They even give you samples to help you decide. i discovered a place like this while in Denver, CO and LOVED it. i am so happy we have something like this in rockaway beach. When you head inside, you will need to provide a CC that gets connected to a plastic card that you then use to order drinks. grab a table, go up to the tap, slide your card on the reader, put your glass down, and pour as much or as little as youd like. you get charged by the oz. sometimes its cheap, sometimes it adds up. id say they have about 25 taps on the wall. plenty of different glass sizes off to the side so thta you get the perfect pour. i had one of the pizzas, and unfortunately, i didnt care too much for it. i think they need to take off the big chunky tomatoes, chop up the artechoke more and add way more of the onions. they have a full menu of various apps and entrees to try. good service, outdoor seating, fun concept, and a 3 min walk to the beach. would come back in a heartbeat. read more

I had two pints of the same thing, first pour was charged at $13.79 - one expensive pint! And the second was charged at $6.83. A pint of Rolling in the Clouds was $13.25. Their beer options could have a bit more variety they have a lot of ipas which is not my favorite, however I did enjoy what they had to offer. They have a great set up in their backyard space with fire pits and really comfortable seating. They only have a selected menu at the moment so we did try two of their sandwiches. Only open for a few months. Enjoy it before the hipsters ruin it It's clean. New. And the attention to detail is awesome Pour your own drinks - not just beer - there is wine, margarita, sangria, hard seltzer, and cider. I'm sure drinks will rotate with the seasons. A large selection of glasses to pick from. Drink as much or as little as you want. You only pay for what you pour. So you could try everything if you wanted. Just FYI it's really easy to overpour and before you know it the bill can really add up. If you poured something by mistake you'll pay for it anyway because the card tracks what you pour You will need a credit card so that you can get the card to use on the taps to keep track of what you poured. Don't forget to check out before you leave So you can return their card and pay I can't wait to try more food here. We had the franks red hot onion rings and they were amazing. I do wish they came with some kind of sauce tho. Something to take heat off - like a ranch or blue cheese or something The owner John is really lovely. I fell in love with this place! We went 3 times while we visiting the Rockaways. Amazing selection of beer (also available wine, sangria, and a margarita tap). They had live music inside, a movie playing in the rear patio, and lots of games like jumbo connect four, jumbo jenga, and cards. The rear patio has four propane fire pits which are clutch once the evenings cool down and the ocean breeze starts to come in. There are propane heaters around the front and back areas too. Visited this spot today for a birthday celebration. Place is great. Food was amazing. Having the option to taste different beers, wines and even a margarita on tap is a great concept. The food was also great, we all shared Buffalo Tater Tots, two Bar Pies (Fresh Clams, Bacon, Garlic, Olive Oil, Shaved Parmigiano & Oregano and the Pistachio, Red Onion, Olive Oil, Shaved Parmigiano & Rosemary) and some Sweet Potato Fries.
