The "literal" embodiment of IYKYK, this classic old school neighborhood institution, the type of…read morewhich are becoming increasingly rare to the point of near extinction, is certainly on my shortlist of the best bars in the city, let alone the borough. The gorgeous, ancient building, Fillmores for close to 50 years now but home to a bar for many years prior to that, is perennially packed with a cross section of local regulars representing many eras of the neighborhoods varied history and populations, from old school working class joes in Union Jackets and hardhats to more recent immigrants from every corner of the world befitting it's location smack in the center of the worlds borough. They're all most definitely having a great time, soaking up the fantastic atmosphere and character and being served by seasoned pros with a level of old school care and camaraderie, and focus on loyalty to the regulars that is also sadly rapidly fading away (how many other places in this town still know the meaning of the words "buy back?") Where the place really sets itself apart from all the other local watering holes however charming they might be on their own right however, is the food. Its lives up to the original designation of a tavern as a place that places a priority on the cuisine, and indeed the offerings rise far far above the bar-food norm. This is the type of spot that not only serves one of the great, deeply satisfying under-the radar burgers, non nonsense but deeply meaty uniquely presented on a long hero-type roll, but also one of the best, and cheapest NY Strips in town and a killer prime rib special. Also has some of the most reliably crispy wings, even if the propriety house sauce is just a tad sweet for my tastes, and a rotating list of delicious house made soups (particularly a marvelous lobster bisque) that can be paired with said wings or most other options as part of the wonderful lunch specials. I've heard many other patrons praise the grilled chicken wrap but have never had the chance to give it a try as of yet. I'll have many more chances because I plan on continuing to visit the place often for years to come, and here's to hoping that this place remains a constant in the ever changing borough as it's miraculously been able to all these many many years.

It wasn't flashy or exciting, but it had the welcoming vibe of a restaurant that was meant for locals, and to serve the surrounding area. While I wish that they had a slightly larger selection of beers, they did have one (1) good IPA, and my food was pretty good as well. My chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks were solid, but my pub pretzel was amazing, and made to perfection! The staff, to include the bartender and waiters, were all very nice, welcoming, and attentive, and I loved chatting with the other patrons as well. I'd definitely recommend Filmore's to anybody passing through the neighborhood, and I'll assuredly be back in the future!

This place is not fancy but it's a good neighborhood spot I think. First the service, the bartender Mia was nice and attentive. She can make a mean cocktail. I would come back just to try those honestly. I ordered a lemon drop and it was good. Second the prices. Listen I don't think you can beat those prices. Beer is around $5 Cocktails from $8-10 and a personal pizza (the only food offered) is $8. Pool is $1 just make sure you have quarters or the bartender can make change for you. The pizzas were decent. You definitely can split between 2 people. Wish they offered more food options though. Come here if you just needs a spot for cheap good drinks and to chat with friends. Very laid back.

While cuz is sitting at the bar taking to his boys , I am across the bar at my own table watching the Yankees and met game while the world cup is on most of the giant screens . Prices for booze is reasonable and I ain't sure if they serve food as I didn't notice any at the bar or the tables . A cool relaxing pub to get your drink on and watch sports without the noise or frat atmosphere. 4 stars on my yelp meter.

We asked about happy hour since Instagram said they had it, but turns out it's not a thing anymore. They owned the miscommunication and took care of us, offering $8 wine, discounts on a couple appetizers, and even a complimentary extra glass of wine to make it up. We ordered a few things off the tapas menu. The popcorn chicken, the octopus, uni and foie gras, short ribs, and beef tacos. The short ribs leaned a bit dry, but everything else was on point. Standout by far was the uni and foie gras. A little pricey for 4 pieces but very delicious. Big shoutout to the 2 staff on site, very friendly, warm and responsive throughout. I would recommend Tavern 157 if you're in the area looking for something casual with good drinks and food and not in the mood for Korean food. Just double-check happy hour before you go, as they mentioned a new one may be coming. Overall, a really enjoyable first visit.
