While the Rockaway seemed a bit ghost-town (Sunday afternoon), Rocco's was jumping! Staff were attentive and friendly. We took our waiter's recommendation of the spicy meatball pizza--I'll say that my partner and I probably should have gotten individual pizzas. It was very delicious!!

They're the ultimate hosts -- warm, welcoming, and genuinely lovely people. The food was fantastic from start to finish. We began with perfectly tender fried calamari served with a delicious tomato sauce. The baked clams were excellent, swimming in a buttery garlic olive oil that was perfect for dipping their homemade bread. The thin-crust pizza had a lovely sweet tomato sauce and high-quality mozzarella. The meatballs were tender and flavorful -- the meat tasted like prime beef. For our mains, both the chicken parmesan and chicken francese were outstanding, and the side of penne alla vodka was rich and excellent. We tried nearly every dessert on the menu and they were all delicious. The wine list is reasonably priced, and we enjoyed a lovely bottle with dinner. Best of all, the service was spectacular. We came with a group of 12, and with only one waitress(some addditional staff as well), she handled our entire table like a pro -- fast, efficient, and incredibly attentive the whole night. Rocco's is a true neighborhood gem. We can't wait to return and highly recommend it to everyone

I stopped in…read morewith a few friends after a beach day on a weekend, and it was a great spot to grab some food and drinks. We started with the Henny Colada, which is an excellent spin on a piña colada. We got the regular size ($13 each plus tip and tax), but you can also get a 25 oz. version packaged in a can to take to the beach, which is a fun option. For food, we ordered a few sides to share: the cornbread, coleslaw, and potato salad, along with a pound of brisket ($32) and a brisket sandwich. The brisket was very good, flavorful and tender, and the barbecue sauce was also very good. The sides were well-priced, enjoyable, and easy to share, and they complemented the brisket nicely. We sat outside, and the service was quick and friendly. If you are in Rockaway, Batesys is definitely worth a stop, especially after a day at the beach. Very much recommend!

There wasn't that many options for what we were looking for so we ended up here. We wanted seafood specifically, but when we asked they did not have what we wanted available even though google maps told us they would. Sad. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the brisket and shrimp skewer. The bathroom always has a line. People come in regardless if they're customers or not to use the restroom. The whole time I was inside (45-ish minutes) at the restaurant there was a line. I gave up and just ended up using baby wipes on my face instead of washing it.

Met Maria and she's so sweet. Plus the food here is actually yummy. The nachos were fully loaded. Many choices for flavoring for the wings. We opted for Garlic Parmesan and it was good. Even better since Maria let us order all flats. My fave! We also ordered the firecracker shrimp. It has a little kick to it with the buffalo dressing. 20 choices for draft beer and the beer comes in a nice icy glass. A++. So good after a workout but not sure if we worked out enough for all the calories. Haha! The bar was totally decorated for Halloween. Loved it. Will be back. The brunch menu comes with a drink! Thanks Maria for the best service.

I've had the wings and beer here, which honestly feels like the correct order. LOL. The wings are good, the beer is cold, and it's the kind of place where you can sit down, watch a game, talk, and just hang out for a while. It definitely has that old-school neighborhood-bar feel. You'll see regulars, people popping in after work, and depending on what's happening nearby, a completely different crowd can roll through. The service is generally friendly and pretty laid-back, which works for this type of place. I'm not coming here expecting white-glove service. Bring me my wings, keep the beer coming, and we're good. Would I make a special trip across New York specifically for Tap House? Probably not. But if I'm in Forest Hills and want wings, a beer, and somewhere casual to sit for a while, absolutely.
