You gotta stop at The Tap Room when you're in Ypsi. Especially if you're visiting Ypsi with an EMU grad. This place has been around since 1941! There's food, booze, foosball, darts, shuffleboard, and a couple pool tables. I highly recommend their fried cheese curds. The sriracha ranch that comes with them is amazing. Drinks were pretty decently priced. $5.75 for a draft beat or we'll drink, $8 for top shelf. Food was a bit pricey tho. Aaron was our main bartender. He was super attentive and friendly. Every other bartender I interacted with were just as great.

I've been coming here since 2000 and they've always had decent prices, a good selection of cold beer and most importantly for me is the Knights Steakhouse ground beef that they've always used here for their burgers! I really like the steak fries they have & we're fried perfectly. The bartender never lets your glass go empty and makes sure the food is right. It's a chill hole in the wall with great selection of beer & liquor & have generous pours! They have some pool tables too if you want to rack em up!!

Aaron the bartender is fantastic. We make it a point to stop every time we come up to Michigan. The food here is great, the drinks are very well priced, and it's got a great dive bar feel to it without being dirty and grimy. If you're in ypsi, come have a drink!

I love this place. It was one of my first pubs in the area and it became our place to go when going to a bar. Burguer and quesadilha is amazing, never tried anything else because I like these ones. And usually go there to beer and beer, sometimes dards too, so it has all I need. Price is okay too, and the staff is another reason we keep going. They serve well.

Taproom is an Ypsi institution. I've gone here many times over the last ten years for excellent drinks that are generously poured. They also are engaged with the community by hosting fun events. For example we routinely go to Drag Queen Bingo which always raises money for excellent causes. Taproom is a great host. Service is usually good, drinks are great, and even the good is good. Not a ton of vegan options but some. The veggie burger has egg so it is vegetarian but not vegan. However the rice used with the mexican dishes is prepared with vegetable broth so it is vegan friendly. With some customization a vegan can eat here. This isn't a place i go to on the regular but it is a place i go to often enough that I'm glad it is here. If i had any constructive criticism, maybe be more inclusive of the vegan community.

The Tap Room was crowded on Thursday during Happy Hour. They offer outdoor seating facing South Washington, the only venue downtown to do so. Drinking outside here would scare the heck out of my mom. Mainly because on this side of the street you really get an up close and personal look at the local panhandlers and alcoholics walking to and from the corner liquor store. Personally, I can handle this kind of peep watching. As Jesse and I sat down, I overheard a conversation next to me. An entrepreneur explained to his guest's why the cutie-pie barkeep was bitchy today. "Brian is to damn cheep to pay $2.75 an hour for a third waitress." Well, this is sure not the first time I have heard this about Mr. Brickly, the owner- who also believes that the days of paying bands a couple hundred to play at local bars are dead. Side note: Papapa pretty pleeze, when you see the tip jar floating around inside drop them some love. Brian sure won't! With only two waitresses and the bar packed during Happy Hour, as you can see in the picture I added. This is what you need to know... Expect slow and annoyed service. If dining outside, you must go into the bar for service. I haven't seen a waitress serve outside yet. Also, plan on waiting about 10 minutes for your drinks and another 10 minutes to pay up. (If I were you I would kill two birds with one stone, get it all over at once.) This is no big deal for me as I am well aware of this fact, which is why I also recommend to: B.Y.O.F. For the Tap Room. i.e.: Bring Your Own Flask Conclusion: GREAT WIFI Service! Ambiance: I wouldn't bring mom. Prices: They are Alright. Friendly Service: That all depends. Smoking: Yes, thank you. Flask: You will need it!

Disappointing BBQ Experience We drove in from a few towns…read moreover, excited to try this spot because they're open late (until 11pm) and we were craving some solid BBQ. Unfortunately, it was a pretty disappointing visit overall. We ordered the DQ Pulled Pork and Brisket, and both came out cold with no flavor. The corn bread was okay, and the collard greens were surprisingly spicy -- not bad, just unexpected. We originally wanted the trifecta but they had already run out of ribs. So we went for two orders of burnt ends, expecting that rich, crispy texture. Instead, they were soft, smushy, and cold -- more like baby food than BBQ. Not good at all. The only standout dish was the corn cream cheese side -- warm, flavorful, and probably the best part of the meal. Also worth mentioning: the bartender was great -- super cool and clearly passionate. The place itself has a chill, loungey vibe, but it doesn't really feel like a true BBQ joint. Final thoughts: Burnt ends: Cold, soft, no bark -- total miss Pulled pork & brisket: Cold, bland Collard greens: Spicy, but decent Corn cream cheese: Delicious Vibe: Cool, but not very BBQ-ish Service: Bartender was the highlight Wish we could've had the food to match the energy. Hopefully they can tighten things up, especially on the basics.

Tasty cheese selections and a generous amount of bread and crackers. Their cocktails are ON POINT. The Pep in Your Step blended the mezcal flavor wonderfully. The Nightshade Martini was one of the most unique cocktails I've ever had. I enjoyed my pasta, though I had wanted to order a seafood dish and they were out of mussels. Definitely a bit of a bummer. I remember the beans in the smoked duck dish being especially good. My one complaint about this place is the menu seems to feel similar each time I'm there (months to years between visits). Like there's always a similar fish dish and a curry. I guess I just wish there were different options because the menu is relatively small. Excited to return for another visit in the future and would like to try their lunch offering as well!

OMG these sautéed garden veggies were the best! The other main was a Japanese curry dish. Here is why the five starting dropped to a four. It was just ok. We would not order again. For dessert we had the bread pudding- another star for the night! To the owner, terrific staff. Everyone we engaged in, were positive and knowledgeable. They are a great team! Looking forward to a second visit!

Our experience started out wonderful! We walked in after our friend's bridal shower to each get a cocktail. We did have a larger group and were told that the bill couldn't be split for parties over 6. Totally fine. No problem at all. The bartender asked what we were celebrating, and we told her about our blushing bride. She was very kind and told us she had a gift for us! To our surprise, she made all 10 of us shots. It was so so kind. She took most of the orders but when she got to me, I told her that I hadn't decided yet and would need a tad more time. She told me no problem. She made everyone's drinks. And brought them to the table. In the midst of her bringing the drinks. One of our friends had bent down to fix her shoe and on her way up, knocked a glass over and it broke. The bartenders mood, demeanor, service quality, and attitude shifted entirely. When the glass broke, she rolled her eyes and let out a big sigh. She made snide comments about "this big group". She darted glares in our direction every chance she got and continued to roll her eyes. My friend profusely apologized and the bartender ignored her, not saying anything but continuing to sigh and roll her eyes. My friend, in an attempt to help, started to help pick up some of the large pieces of the glass. The bartender raised her voice saying "put it down". Mistakes happen. My friend hadn't had a single drink that night and was very apologetic but was treated very poorly by the staff for a simple mishap that happens in food service industries. I'd like to say that the cocktails were yummy but I didn't get to try the one I wanted to order. She never came to take my order. After my friend were finished with their drinks, she did come back once more. To take the menus out from in front of me and my husband to give them to different guests. At first, it seemed wonderful, but it kind of ruined our night to come here. So be careful and don't make any mistakes in the presence of their classy staff.

What I do love about Ann Arbor is that they balance out the drunk haunts of young adults with great restaurants and high end bars for the people looking for more than a pitcher of cheap beer. Rabbit Hole is one of those spots. Down the same little alley way as Circ Bar, this underground bar is tucked away, stone hallways and open up and lead to different openings that provide seating, a dance floor and an amazingly stocked bar. If you like bourbon you will love this spot. Our bartender was fantastic, absolutely worked with me on working out a drink. I know I took a pic of an espresso martini, but my drink was made perfect also. Another nice surprise was that it wasn't some crazy price on the drink (I mean any crazier than other places and quite cheaper than around my home), especially for Ann Arbor. Walking away from the bar is a dance floor, and surrounding it are booths in a separate rooms and tables on a level up from the dance floor. There are also two hallways that lead to more booths and tables in different areas of the bar. As you can imagine this is a huge place. I loved the look which would definitely bring me back if I had also loved the Cocktails. The drink I ordered was way too sweet. I was underwhelmed. Most of their drinks looked on the sweeter side even the bartender mentioned. For my second I just ordered a glass of bubbly. It was also on the sweeter side but an improvement. For the prices, I really don't want to have to get up, find my way back to the bar to order my drink, then walk back to my seat avoiding the people and trying not to spill.
