The decor in here is very vibey and really cool to be in this historic building (built in 1858 and the new owner bought the building and renovated it really tastefully). Must tries: * Pizza! really great neapolitan style dough and great flavors. * 16oz meatball - yes you read that right! it's a giant meatball - with a limited quantity made a day. Skip it: dessert -- of the 4 desserts I've had it at different times, the baked alaska is the way to go! But you'll have to enjoy espresso & be able to have caffeine of course. There is parking in the street. On entering we were seated quickly. This is the first time I have eaten here. This is a nice little gem in the area. The ambiance is comfy and cozy. There were limited things on the menu but enough to make good choices. I decided on the charcuterie board and the blackened cod. They were both pretty good. The cod had a good flavor and taste. I saw many people getting the pizza. I will definitely have to try it out in the future. I definitely will be back. read more

Super good food and cool interior! We came on a Thursday so it wasn't busy at all. It seemed the bartender was also the server. We had a few quirks -- all our menus were different so certain items weren't on the other so we weren't sure what was actually offered. It got a tiny bit busier in there so maybe three other tables and a couple at the bar but at one point the bartender just forgot about us and we ended up going up to the bar to pay. Our waters weren't ever refilled. He did tell us he was new so I get it but it was curious that it was that short staffed. After looking for new restaurants in my area to visit with friends, I happened into C King & Co. I'd be willing to give them another shot and maybe try something different but it was pretty underwhelming. I like the vibe, it feels like some of the small pizzerias I've visited in Europe. Unfortunately, service also reminded me of my time in Europe; our server was very friendly but it was very slow. On the one hand I only saw two people on staff but the place was anything but busy. My friends & I tried some apps. I went with the mushroom pizza. Nothing was bad, but also there was nothing that made me think that I needed to come back. Again, if I'm at Ypsi Cocktail Club and get hungry, maybe I'd be up for a stroll across the street to try something new and hopefully have a better experience. It has been open a little less than a year Want to everyone to stop by and support this little Ypsilanti establishment. Met the owner the night we were there. C King & Co is an excellent restaurant in downtown Ypsi. It's a great proposition for date night, with a full bar and excellent menu, plus fantastic ambiance and great service. After a recent visit to C King and Co on a weekday, I'm going to say it's probably one of the most slept-on spots in Ypsi right now -- we came in at dinner time and the restaurant was less than 50% full, so I'm thinking that people haven't realized how fantastic the food is. The pizza here is excellent, especially for the money. I'll add that the salad is great too (particularly the arugula salad), and I'm not even usually a salad person! The salad is deceptively large: when it's presented it doesn't look big, but we found that a pizza and a salad was enough food for two people with a bit of leftovers as well. $24 charcuterie board made up of papa John's peppers, bits of bread crust (which they also use for croutons by the way) and two whole pieces of salami! Extremely low effort and it should just be taken off the menu. Staff was nice tho. Charcuterie boards are about trying meats and cheeses so this seriously tastes and looks like a joke. read more

After long awaiting a chance to visit C King, we finally made our way there on a recent evening. Located in an old dry goods store in downtown Ypsi, it has been beautifully restored into an elegant and timeless restaurant and bar. We were promptly greeted by a friendly server who encouraged us to take a seat anywhere we liked. The bartender fetched a high chair for our munchkin while we scoped out a table. We started with drinks and the charcuterie board. The Old Fashioned with Bulleit Rye will did not disappoint, and I'm glad that I ordered it that evening. The charcuterie board was a decent start to the meal, although for the price we were a bit underwhelmed. We each got a pizza - Napoli and Mushroom - and split so we could try both. The Napoli had the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese and the Napoli sausage was flavorful without being too spicy. The Mushroom had a delicious white sauce and roasted garlic, punctuated by small pieces of bacon. There are a couple of others that I would like to try in the future, so I think a repeat visit is in my future! I'm looking forward to seeing a more extensive menu in the future, and I thoroughly enjoyed the excellent service and friendly employees at C King. Food was fantastic. The pizza was wonderfully charred and the toppings plentiful. I got the mushroom pizza and it was one of the best pizzas Iv had in awhile. Their cocktails were good as well, I got their mule and it was delicious. My friend got the Napoli pizza and we both finished them and got dessert. Over all the food and drinks were both great but what really made it so I wish I could give more than 5 stars was the atmosphere. Definitely my favorite local pizza spot. Pizzas are decently sized, wood fired, and always delicious. They have fun seasonal rotating options and even the most adventurous (curry pizza?!) are great. Salads are another stand out, they have the best Caesar salad, I consistently order the beet salad as well. Charcuterie board is generously sized. Cocktails are well made and have several in-house infusion options. Chef is personable and this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I hate seeing this place so slow at times (please stay in business!), but I'm also grateful for always being able to get a table. They have weekly entertainment and a beautiful looking event space. I won't go back. Pizza's fine. Atmosphere is quaint. Food and drinks are overpriced. The owner is really something, and that something is not kind. After wine, pizza, and overpriced salad we ordered one dessert for five of us to share. The dessert was called Guinness tiramisu and it's the only dessert other than deconstructed lemon tart on the menu. The tiramisu had zero Guinness flavor, the creamy part tasted lemony, and the cookie on top of the glass was hard as a rock. We thought that, perhaps, we'd received the deconstructed lemon tart instead of the Guinness tiramisu. We asked the waitress, who kindly went to check. We didn't really care--just thought they might have mixed our order up with someone else's. The owner/chef insisted to the waitress that we were wrong, and then came out to our table to explain to us how wrong we were for five minutes. He made aggressive eye contact with the two women in the group, spoke down to us, and all five of our group came away feeling like, "What a jerk, I'm not supporting that place." For my money there are loads of better places in Ypsi. EDIT: I attached a photo of the two desserts that someone else posted on Yelp. The dessert we received was the one with the strawberry on top--which I presume is the deconstructed lemon tart, while the other is the tiramisu. That jackass of a chef insisted we got the tiramisu. It's a beautiful thing when you have the waitress, Allison, all to yourself but this place is really pretty good! It's Sunday. Maybe everybody is still in church. The Benedict was delicious. Old Fashion and Margaritas are a perfect beginning paired with charcuterie board; meat, cheese, fruit, jellies and delicious bread. The arugula and asparagus salads were tasty. Good food but a weirdly unfriendly environment. Food and drinks came out quickly which was great but... while service was quick it felt like everyone working there had something better to do. Our waitress could hardly be bothered to say more than a few words to us as well as every other table she had around us. While it was nice ambience as far as decor was concerned and the food and drinks were good, it just felt off. If I were in downtown Ypsi I might look somewhere else before I walk in there again. My family and I recently visited there on a Saturday evening. Food was good, ambiance was good- but noisy. Service was lacking. Had multiple wrong items and not so great drinks. The biggest problem though, that we unfortunately didn't realize until too late- our bill was astronomical with very little reason. We were charged for drinks that got sent back (that had only had a sip taken out of). Charged for soda refills- without being notified that refills cost extra (who charges $4 per glass of Diet Coke?) Tried this place for the first time today. It's cozy - seating for maybe forty people including at the bar - but it wasn't crowded on a Sunday evening. It's a beautiful and fascinating refurbished historic space. Jack, our server and bartender, was very friendly and helpful. The cocktails were generously poured and perfectly mixed. We got two pizzas and they were both excellent, especially the honey chipotle chicken from the seasonal menu. Whoever is making their pizza dough knows what they're doing; it's crisp and chewy with a nice complex flavor. The tarte tatin did not appear to be made in the classic style but it was still delicious. And with two cocktails, two pizzas, and a dessert, we were out the door for $70 (plus tip) which felt very reasonable for food and drinks of this quality. We'll definitely be back! read more

We popped in on a Saturday evening and were immediately greeted by a jovial waiter Tony. We ordered a moscow mule, Aperol spritz, bulgur salad, arugula salad, clam pizza and a mushroom pizza. We ended our meal with a delicious tiramisu. It makes me so happy to see these types of places opening in Ypsi! While, selfishly, I'd love to see them add oysters and some seafood to the menu, everything we had was absolutely fantastic and we can't wait to come back. Anachronism at it's tastiest! Is it 2830? 1930? 2030? Well, whatever year it is, it tastes pretty good. The White Pie had wonderful garlic and a lemony herb were fabulous. To was unable to identify any clams however. This is NIT a 300 year old restaraunt, but a creative restaurant located in a 200 y old business. They sport a fabulous election of higher end booze. It is possible to sit outside with a canine companion. Eating alone, I typically enjoy eavesdropping, but failed miserably at this. Despite being closely packed between two couples (like I remember when I lived in New York City), I could not stay tuned in to others because of the rather engaging eclectic playlist. Turns out this was curated by the waitress. Speaking of staff: three people managed everything in a beautifully choreographed manner: it is as if they are a happy family fully focused on being attentive. The lemon meringue tart was served in a brandy glass with a cookie on top. I don't know if the style a good is an attempt at a historical throw-back or modern rustic Italian or simple creative. This place is so good but the way they staff it is upsetting. I don't mind waiting, but it's wrong for the staff to have so little support. We were there on New Years Eve, one of the busiest restaurant nights of the year, and they had ONE server who was also the bartender and the person cooking was also running food. it is not right to treat your staff that way.
