chicken fingers and a cold beer! oh yeah!

This is such a warm and friendly place! We were here on a saturday evening and found a nice table inside. we scanned the QR code for the menu and made our selections. we chose the reuben and the chicken fingers with fries. we also got the tower town blonde beer. soooo good! the food came out hot and delicious! These fries are some of the best i have had. you absolutely MUST order them. Trust me. The employee who took our order was super nice and friendly. they also have entertainment here but we were tired and left before they started. we will definitely come back and check it out. we also want to try some other food items. there are also some games you can play. darts and some cards and board games. i highly recommend trying this place out.

Ypsi Alehouse has been on my list for quite some time. The tag makes me giggle. Anyway, we stopped in for an ice cold one and to grab my tagabrew. It was a fun place. It wasn't too crazy for a Weds evening, but we got a feel for it. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather. I was happy to see an amber on the menu and of course opted for this. I tried to broaden my horizons a bit this week but I just can't help it. I like what I like and can usually find something on the menu to enjoy. We sat down and enjoyed each other's company and the beautiful weather. We didn't eat, and I might come back to try some food. Over all it was a fun experience and we enjoyed ourselves.

We really enjoyed hanging out at the Ypsi Alehouse. The bartender was fantastic and even let us be creative with our hop Passport options. The beers were solid and the Rosemary Truffle Fries....ohhh so tasty! I would most certainly make another trip back to the Alehouse.

I've went to this awesome place twice already. Both times were pretty good. The atmosphere is good, the food is yum, and the wine is yum. My partner and I ordered their original burger and had their sweet white wine. Both were delicious. Also, their waiter Spencer is spiffy.

The unique chandelier/light fixture that amazed me.

What brought us here? Groupon! Came in pretty late at night. There was a cozy corner near the bar where everyone was. Our Groupon got us 2 flight of beer. Every brewery/ale house has a unique flight. This was definitely one of them. You have to have a finesse on grabbing the whole thing. The choices we had was good, granting it is still winter, and in my experience that is more warm and cozy flavors (which I'm not too fond of). We also got fries (no pictures) it was yummy. So I just dove right to it. And the ice cream bar from ice box brand. We got the green dragon which is the mint ice cream with Oreo. There's 2 sizes which cost $3 & $5. I suggest getting the smaller ones. We had the $5 for use to share, it was definitely more than enough. We also had a few minuted of fun with the darts. Overall our night experience was fun. Will definitely come back, we have a hop passport to use.

It's a bar with a side of brewed beers. I liked the dark atmosphere in this hole in the wall local tap house. There's no shortage of people watching and culture for the area and it seems they're open to the local music seen. If I had a choice next time in town I'd look for a place to stay within walking distance to places like this. Fun, friendly staff, and live music! How could you go wrong?!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! My husband and I had been wanting to try it for a while after reading a yelp review of a friend. We went on a Friday night, which we thought would be pretty packed but surprisingly it was pretty empty! Upon entering, you're asked to get a menu, pick a seat and then when you're ready order at the bar. We founds seats in their main dining area but it looked like a nice space with some high top tables at the bar, the bar itself, and then the dining area. There was a more open area where there were tables, but were cleared for some Friday night music taking place. Now I will say this: the space is small and when music is happening it gets SO LOUD that you can't hear or talk to anyone without yelling. So be warned about that. The menu blew me away. They had so many vegetarian options and actually many vegan options! We ordered a basket of their truffle fries which were so delicious (and vegan!). They're beer battered and then seasoned with truffle and herbs and served with a side of aioli. The aioli I wasn't too crazy about. Tasted a little too "sweet" than it should. For dinner, I ordered the sweet potato poletnta cakes: three mini polenta cakes topped with sweet potatoes, a chimicurri, jalepenos and other things. It can be made vegan (without sour cream) and you can add a protein on top. I chose the chipotle black bean burger, which was served on the side. This dish was great! It wasn't too heavy, great for one person. The flavors were so robust and smokey. I'd recommend this dish to anyone as an entree! Overall, it was a great dining experience. It's not in the best part of Ypsilanti...well I take that back we didn't feel unsafe there, but it's not he most "family-friendly" location of Ypsilanti since the DejaVu gentleman's club is kitty corner to the Alehouse. But, parking is free in the lots nearby, the service was great, staff was friendly and suggested things for us since it was our first time and the food was delicious. I do think we will be back!

We were here in December so the patio wasn't open but looks roomy with many picnic tables. We opted to sit at the bar because that's usually where we get personal with brew pubs we love to discover. We always search local brews when traveling and 9/10 times the bartender will greet us, ask if we've been there, make recommendations or tell us a bit about the brewery style. Not here. I'm not sure the bartender ever even made eye contact and pretty sure he wanted to be there even less than he wanted us to be there. We did get a few beer samples by request, but no recommendations, he didn't ask what we thought and he made us feel very unwelcome right from the start. However, once that bartender was relieved the new bartender was chatty and friendly to the new customers. We had finished our beers and meal by that time and just needed to cash out. So I would say maybe it's just that one employee. We had the pretzels. Kudos to the pretzel bread-- it was delicious. Beer cheese was pretty good, as was the mustard. We asked about the menu and what he recommends (still trying to be friendly and get him to warm up). He recommended the special menu, so we ordered the Blackened Salmon sandwich. It was okay/average. Fries were cold. We ordered the Table Talk beer and I enjoyed it. I'd say that the beer was the best part of the whole experience. Overall I'm glad we tried it but we wouldn't go back. If the bartender had been more welcoming and interested in sharing a bit more about the concept, we would give it a second try when we head out there again. It's always good to try other food items and beers, but the vibe doesn't warrant a second try. I can understand if a place is busy, but we were there at 2pm on a Saturday and were two of four at the bar and he didn't look to be super busy with the restaurant as a whole. It's always so disappointing when service falls so short on something that could be such a unique experience. Three stars for the beer and pretzel.

We arrived when it was not too crowded, but the restaurant very quickly filled up just after we arrived and unfortunately our posted server didn't notice us for quite a while so we had to flag someone to serve us and by that point the restaurant was getting pretty busy. Poor timing - oh well. We ordered the Prime Rib French Dip to split, as neither of us has a huge appetite but that was probably not a great decision. Usually, French dip sandwiches are huge, but this one was served on a hot dog bun, so not overly big. It was served with a healthy dose of horseradish cream sauce and was pretty tasty. I meant to substitute fries but in the chaos of it all forgot, so the sandwich came with chips which were unfortunately quite ordinary. My father ordered a beer flight and was quite pleased with his selections (6 x 3oz pours for $15). He most enjoyed the Sonorous Stout and he's a big fan of stouts and lagers in general. I think my father definitely enjoyed his experience and this was mostly for him, so that was good. I would definitely consider getting him a growler to go in the future since he really seemed to enjoy the beer very much.
