I love this place! We visit every time we're in Hudson, and on our last trip we had breakfast here 3 days in a row. Portions are huge, so we often share a meal. I highly recommend the Tanzy's Plate, but get an extra side of sausage! I don't know where they get their breakfast sausage from, but its the best I've ever had. Good food at affordable prices, what's not to love?! I do wish it wasn't cash only, though. read more

But seriously, sweetheart, on the weekends, you need more than that one poor woman in the kitchen to turn out food that doesn't take an hour. And that one other poor woman serving tables, running around trying to make everyone happy. She's such a gem! But seriously, Tanzy's. I can cut you slack -- I get to come on the weekdays when it's slower and pleasant and everybody in the place is a local. Your pancake is number two or three on my All Time Pancake List. But you're understaffed on weekends and today, it really did take over an hour from when we sat down until my beloved single pancake arrived. My husband was in a (sudden, because we thought we had allotted more than enough time for breakfast) rush to get to work, and felt so stressed by the long wait that, right before my pancake arrived, he had to say "If the food doesn't come in five minutes we have to walk out." The food arrived pretty much five minutes later. TANZY'S. THIS IS AN INTERVENTION. HIRE SOMEBODY! How about one of those fresh-faced coffee girls from Le Perche across the street? Maybe see if they know somebody? Because your current staff is SO WONDERFUL and SO FRIENDLY, but clearly the weekends require some extra bodies in the joint. Bonfiglio is both hip and uber delicious. Tanzy is a high carb pancakes kinda place. Low on the culinary scale. I went for breakfast twice on a weekday. Last time I ordered poached eggs on toast. The breakfast came out looking like it haled from the 50's. Eggs were not cooked. Yuck. I left. Hungry and bummed at throwing away 12 bucks. Ain't going back. read more

On a street full of restaurants, you have to be better than this. The decor was quaint, maybe too quaint. The wait staff was very friendly but food was not good. Stopped here for lunch to try something different having eaten at the Red Dot and Mexican Radio many times over the years. Overuse of pesto is a mistake and the greasy fries taste like they were cooked in burger grease. The Angus burger was awful having being overcooked and probably by previously frozen and thrown on the grill to thaw. Probably should have stuck with a simple breakfast but seemed late as it was 1:30 already. Sorry, but most people familiar with Hudson and the region are from NYC area and we're spoiled. I went on a weekday. The service was friendly and efficient. After a short wait I tasted the best hash browns ever. Crispy, nicely spiced, super hot. What a cute little place! Very homey inside and such warm, friendly service. They really make you feel welcome here. I ordered the short stack of pancakes which were two substantial pancakes. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito with a side of potatoes. The potatoes were delicious. I didn't try my husband's burrito but it looked good and stuffed with eggs, salsa, potatoes, and cheese. The pancakes were fluffy. They were your standard diner pancakes. The coffee was great and pretty strong. They have local newspapers for you to read which is a sweet touch. My Mom and I adore this place. The owners are wonderful, the food is home-style, fresh and delicious. They do English-style high teas with a home-town twist. Their tea selections is great, they have AMAZING soup and the scones and desserts are to DIE FOR. During a weekend trip to Hudson, my husband and I ate here both mornings for breakfast. We loved, loved, loved this place. It is very quaint but busy, and the wait staff are very friendly and attentive. This is one of those restaurants where everyone knows everyone else and we were made to feel quite welcomed. They also remembered us when we went back the next day. Their pancakes were pretty fantastic as was everything else we had. I highly recommend this place and will definitely make this my "go-to" for breakfast in Hudson. I also want to try the tea service. read more

I think this is probably a lovely place to go if you're a local, but we got the cold shoulder from the staff, who exasperatedly told us it was going to be a long wait and basically that we should go somewhere else to eat. I felt like it had to do with us being concert-goers there for a festival at Basilica, dressed in band t-shirts, leather jackets, etc. That happened about a year ago so maybe things have changed, but I won't be going back. Tanzys... I really wanted this to be a gem. The ladies here were sweet but the service was lacking. Just FYI the place fills fast because it's small, which also means it can get very busy quickly. I waited a while for my order and my food. The coffee was ok. The eggs and home fries were good. The pancakes seemed like they added cake batter to it. Too sweet for my taste (even with just syrup on it). When I was done I received my check but then it took an additional fifteen minutes to close me out. Not so fun. I love places like this. Breakfast and lunch only, authentic, very mom and pop. It's like the a sleepy country town's version of a diner. The food was fine, nothing mind blowing, but good and reliable. I think that the atmosphere and the SUPER nice staff, blended with the comfort food made it an overall nice experience. Oh, one note, everything was good, except their blueberry bread pudding... REALLY not good. It felt like I was eating bread soaked in cream, it wasn't seasoned and was just not good. We went here for breakfast our first morning in Hudson. I wasn't overly impressed with the menu but it was open and close by, so hey, why not?! The restaurant isn't huge so even though they didn't look that crowded, there wasn't a table for our party of four, so we were told we had to wait 15 minutes, which turned out t be more like 25. Once we were seated, things moved along. I ordered tea and then brought me a basket with a good variety of tea bags. DW and SIL ordered the blueberry waffle special. I tasted it and thought the waffle was well-cooked and the blueberries added some tang. SIL's BF ordered the combo platter which featured a rather large pancake. I got egg whites with pork roll and multigrain toast. The portion of egg whites I got was rather paltry. The toast was fine as was the pork roll, though the slices seemed thinner than what we get here in Jersey. read more
