Not a bad stop if you are making your way around downtown Orlando on Orange Ave. Take the street side stairwell underground for live music and cheaper basic drinks. My main complaint, which may be others' favorite point of interest, is you can still smoke inside here. Not my thing and it reeks in this stagnant basement turned bar. Aside from that, this place is pretty laid back. Lots of locals and affordable domestic beers. Interior is dark and dated, but again fits with the whole vibe here. read more

Love Tanqueray's! Been coming here since I was 21 and have not stopped. Tanq's is a fun bar downtown that you have to take a set of stairs going underground to get into. They have some of the best live music downtown including Ancient Sun! Always enjoy hearing this band jam out. Additionally they have reggae night weekly and it makes for a great show. While Tanqueray's is small and gets a bit packed at times if you can slip in and grab a seat or table with some friends you're gonna have a great time. They do allow smoking, and have fair prices on alcohol. read more

Go here. I would never have went to this place cause it looks weird. But, I had a friend suggest going and I'm super impressed. We had a few shots and I felt a good vibe here. Tanqueray's is another regular stop when pub crawling in Downtown Orlando. I always think of "Cheers" when I go there because you have to go down the stairs into the basement to enter. They get some cool live bands there...usually in the blues/jazz/funk/jam band genre. They also have open mic night for music/poetry/comedy, etc. The drinks are cheap, and it's never too packed. I don't recall there ever being a cover. I actually spent New Year's here once, and had a great time. read more

Great dive bar in the heart of downtown. Really the only place for good free live music downtown. The bands that play here usually are a mix of rock/jazz/blues/funk .... good stuff! Drink prices are always reasonable/cheap. Smoking is allowed inside but in my opinion it's not extremely smoky. Good crowd, good music, good prices. Music usually starts at 1030. A friend suggested this place after we left an event downtown on Thursday and I agreed to go as I had not been there in a long time. What a great night we had. The jazz band, Leisure Chief, played that night and they were fantastic! (They play on Thursdays at Tanqueray's per one of the band members.) We moved one of the tables aside and created a little dance floor and soon we had a few couples dancing with us. It has the feel of the little jazz clubs in Chicago and I forgot how much fun this place could be. Like other reviewers noted, the drinks are cheap and good and with no cover charge, it is definitely a fun night out. Tanqueray takes some warming up to and I definitely think a part of my disdain comes from the first visit experience. I chose to hold off a bad review as I understand that most of it is because of the band - god, there amplifiers were wayyyyy too loud and considering how small the venue is, it's made my experience a bad one. The uncertainty of this underground venue could be a hit or miss but on a good night, this is a great place to be at to have a beer or two while supporting artists. read more

Surprisingly my Mother actually told me I need to check this place out, as she her friends and her used to go when she was in college. The bar is below ground and is certainly lively. The band is cranking tunes (pretty good ones too) and the drinks are flowing. I was playing it simple and just drank bud light, but it was ice cold and delightful. My friends mixed it up with an few cocktails and we had a great time. Forwarding tho, it can be a little smoky down there, but I suggest giving it a go, it's a fun place. read more

Walk down here and find yourself in a tiny space with enough room for your 1st grade science classroom... maybe. How they got this place to be seemingly underground, my floridian sense of sea level has me stumped. You're gonna find smoke, lots of regulars, a stage with live music (probably), seats in front of said stage, and cheap drinks. CHEAP drinks. Start your night here... end it here. Tanqueray's is a pretty unique bar in the Orlando area. Locate the large neon sign and proceed to walk down the stairs into a basement. I have stopped in with a friend who likes the local bands who play here, and even though I had no idea who the band was, I have always enjoyed myself. The bartenders are very nice and they have a great selection of craft beer. The room to watch the bands is pretty small. There are a couple of tables in the middles and some booths around the outside. I suggest you get there early to get a spot. The only thing that would make this place better is if they didn't allow smoking! read more

Tanq's is an old reliable. Back in my working downtown days, this was a regular spot for my coworkers and I to blow off steam. Their good beer selection and reasonable prices kept us coming back for more. The other night I was out with one of my old coworkers, who suggested we head in for a drink for old time's sake. Sure, there are no windows, the place reeks of cigarette, and gets crazy crowded, especially when there's live music. But isn't that what you expect when you head downstairs into a basement bar?! If you want something fancy, this is not your place. But if you want good drinks from great bartenders, and some good conversation with other patrons (everyone here is always friendly and I end up chatting with someone new each time), this is a great choice. read more

A dive bar I was just introduced to the other night after a Yelp event It's in a basement which was pretty cool and there were $3 tequila shots. It was pretty empty and we were able to score a private little room which was perfect for our party size. The major downer was the smoke. I can't stand smoke and hate coming home reeking of it. I have been walking by this place for years and have never stopped in. I don't know why I hy aven't because I have always been a big fan of "basement" bars and they are few and far between in Orlando. We went in right after a Magic game and it was still very early in the night. There was absolutely nobody in the bar besides us. The bartenders were both very nice and they gave us a little glass to try all the different beers on tap. They had some pumpkin and oktoberfest flavors so that is why we were having a hard time deciding. We were there on a Friday night and I believe their special was $2 PBR tallboys. We only stayed long enough to have one drink before it was on to our next spot. We were told that they have live bands every night at 10:30. They also had probably five televisions playing multiple sporting events which was cool. It depends on your perspective on whether it's a good thing or a bad thing but they do allow smoking here. I expect sometime in the future I will return to check it out later in the night. read more

I came here last night (Thursday) around 8pm with a friend who frequents this bar often. We headed straight for the basement and surprisingly it was crowded. Despite how many people there were, the bartenders were extremely nice and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. They have a really nice, modern, touch-screen juke box filled with a ton of great music from all the genres and eras. It was fun to go through the selections and figure out when the perfect moment would be to belt out "Bohemian Rhapsody" or some Bad Company! They've got two dartboards in the rear room and my friend and I played that for quite some time. It was a lot of fun and I would definitely go back. The smoke was as overwhelming as it gets. Understandably, it's part of the atmosphere, but it reminded me why I stopped smoking in the first place as I smelled like Khaleesi after she lit Kal Drogo on fire and gave birth to her three baby dragons. Yes, that means you'll smell like smoke when you leave. With live music, wells, and beers, how else could you spend a pleasant night with blaring music that drowns out any conversation with your mates? I really couldn't hear a damn thing from any of my friends. That being said, the music was live and thoroughly well done. I usually don't do live music, but this was enjoyable. I found myself immersed in these musicians and the music they developed. On some occasions, with a big enough tip from an audience member, they'd play requests that were genuinely on point. I ordered a diet whiskey and coke and I only needed one. It was fairly over iced though. That being said, the drinks were strong. Anything more than two and you'll be feeling it. read more

With all the bars and clubs in Orlando, this could really turn into a great location for something unique, but now that environment is just ehhh. You really don't hear much about Tanqueray's or what is going on at this location. I was there on Friday night as a stop in a birthday pub crawl, and it was out last stop at the end of the night. This place is most definitely a last stop in a night outing, because at the end of the night you are ready for that last drink and to relax. Inside it is very small, with a small stage that musicians play on during the week. Drinks are VERY STRONG, and not very tasty - might just be what I got, Vodka Tonics. I think they could expand this place a bit, not to make it too big and keep that "relaxed atmosphere" along with more promotion. read more

Tanquerays is one of the chillest spots downtown. If you want to avoid the overly hyped mainstream that is Downtown Orlando, Tanqs is the place. The owner Dan is often working behind the bar unlike other places in town. Staff is always friendly and they have very good musicians night in and night out. The only reason this place does not get a 5 star rating is because of the limited amount of space. I especially love this place on Sunday's with a live band that plays there. They are amazing with Brandon in bass guitar and Thom Shea on sax. They sing funk, rock, and soul music. I'm a jamband, jazz, and a little bit of rock n roll kind of man. First of all, the downstairs, underground cheers kind of vibe, sets Tanquerays apart from the rest. The music is always energetic and the drinks aren't to expensive. You can dress up or go in casual. All cliques are invited to take part in this cool hip and classy bar. The only thing that should change in my opinion is the cigarette and cigar smoke. I do notice a lot of gain smokers tend to hang out in this bar. Feels like a classy dive bar if something like that is possible. Located downstairs it has a bar and a stage where they typically have live music playing. All the bartenders I've encountered here have been super friendly and pour strong drinks without a "strong" price. My only gripe is it's smoker friendly and you end up smelling like an ash tray once you've left. The bathrooms are maintained well and are some of the cleaner ones I've been in downtown. read more

Would be 5 stars- seriously great music every time I've been. Generous pours on drinks, nice atmosphere. BUT - the cigarette smoke is rancid. It's in a basement with little (if any) ventilation so the smoke just hangs in the air and it seems everyone who smokes is there, chain smoking. When you leave and rush home to shower, then get into your car THE NEXT DAY and still smell it just from your clothes- YUCK. It's a bummer because I love the music when I work myself up to go in. read more

A nice small downtown club that sadly allows smoking which as any asthmatic will tell you is a major no no these days. Sometimes they have really good bands playing and in the summer we've seen bands playing outdoor but I don't know if they still do that or not. If they ever make it non smoking then I would give it another star and tell you to visit a couple of times a week. It's a cool little dive bar outside of the still allowing smoking there. And because it's Florida they actually have a REAL happy hour not one of those you can buy an expensive drink and instead of getting another drink half price or for free we'll give you some stale finger foods and call that a happy hour like they do in Massachusetts. read more
