Typical neighborhood bar, this is a good stop for a late night drink. The bartender was polite and service was quick. It was fairly busy when I stopped in and a mixed group of young and older people.

Brunch was calling so we had to stop by this spot because I could have had everything on the menu. And writing this now that I am back home I can honestly say we could have ate here every day of the trip. Our server was great and super friendly. We were there earlier in the day for brunch so it wasn't very busy but when we were leaving we noticed it got pretty busy so that's how you know it is the place to be! We started with an espresso martini and aperol spritz which turned into our go to every morning to start the day. We decided to share the huevos rancheros skillet and did it with scrambled eggs and added bacon of course and we also got something sweet and shared a short stack of the pancakes that had a peach butter and walnuts. Oh my gosh everything was soo good and super shareable we truly enjoyed every bite. I can not wait for my next trip to NYC I will 100% be back here again!

My blurry photo does not do this elixir justice ... sorry chemistry, sorry.

WOW - What a find Tanner's Smith is. Also, whoever 'Josiah' is, we love you! This mixolgist-wizard named 'Josiah' has created a superstar of a cocktail called 'The Basic #$@! Brew' which is an alcoholic take on the Pumpkin Spiced Latte and it's phenomenally fun to drink. It became a cold day so our cosmo and Aperol spritz needs were forced morphed into a need for only warmth within our systems. We tore thru the menu with amazing fonts and typesetting to find Irish Coffees, ordered a trio of them and ended up loving those but wanting to stay within the warmed drinks section of the menu ONLY, we ordered each of the three and they were all great in their own ways. The host was shard and so kind and our server was fun and perfect. Thank you so much for making us feel so embraced and never half a gangster because one cannot be half a gangster - like ever! We will absolutely make this part of our time in New York when we return. Now im back home to LA where I plan to spike the heck outta my Pumpkin Spiced Latte to recreate it! Ive been inspired, Josiah! You, Cocktail Messiah, you!

The brunch here was just fine. The pancakes are thick and bready with a crispy outside, and this felt more like cornbread than a standard pancake. The huevos rancheros were a bit underwhelming - the tortillas softened way too much, and the whole dish had kind of a flat flavor from being dominated by the eggs and cheese. I think more salsa might've solved the flavor balance. It's also a tad overpriced in line with other brunch spots - my portion of the bill (with the pancakes split four ways) was nearly $40. It's also relatively rowdy compared to other restaurants - it is a bar, after all.

Had brunch with my girlfriend and it was such a great vibe with excellent service. Now let's talk food. The pecan pancakes. OMG, an absolute must! They were to die for. Fluffy, rich, and the portion was hefty. We ordered the small size, shared it, and still couldn't finish. My girlfriend went with the burger, while I had the bacon and egg sandwich, both solid choices and very good. We didn't try the drinks this time since my girlfriend is pregnant, but I'll definitely be back with my family and plan to explore the drink menu then. Highly recommend you try them out!

Came here during my trip to New York last month. It is where my husband wanted to eat before heading to Broadway show. we loved the vibe of this place. the servers were all kind and helpful. We got a few appetizers and each an entree. They were all so so yummy. Their drinks are so fun and yummy too! We were celebrating my husband's birthday and they gave him a free dessert.....now i dont know what happened but the whipped portion of this was spoiled tasting. Idk what was but it was gross and we all spit it out. That was the worst part of the otherwise great evening.

After the 50th Anniversary concert for Air Supply, the band & many VIP fans, including myself, came over to Tanner Smith's for the after party celebration. This establishment is nice, albeit small. We had the basement all to ourselves, which was nice, but was totally wall to wall with people. The bartenders were keeping the drinks poured, although one of the female bartenders totally ignored the drummer of the band each time he went to order! That to me is not okay. You just don't ignore your clientele that way, especially since he was one of 8 guests of honor! I commend the one bartender who made me a very special mocktail upon hearing I'm a cancer survivor, on medicine so I can't have alcohol, & am allergic to everything citrus. He made me a wonderful strawberry/pineapple drink that was very delicious & special! The staff presented us with tasty appetizer hors d'ouvres. My favorite was the shrimp quesadilla. Soooooo good! Eventually the crowd thinned out & we were able to sit down & visit with each other & our beloved Air Supply family. Thank you Tanner Smith's for treating us Airheads to an awesome soiree with our musical favorites!

Stunning interior. Romantic ambiance. Attention to detail. Killer cocktails. So why 2 stars? The food. :( Buffalo chicken spring rolls: good and sizable. The only thing we had that wasn't below average. Brussels sprouts: disappointing. They needed salt, had little flavor and were soggy. Roasted sprouts need to have a bit of a crunch, at least the outer leaves. These were underwhelming at best, and the portion was very small. Did I mention they had no flavor? Cauliflower: another disappointing side. It was too tough and was too plain. Cauliflower done right is like eating a savory treat... you just can't stop. This was boring and uninspiring, and although the portion was tiny, we left some on the plate. Burger: nothing to write home about. The bread wasn't fresh. The meat was a soggy mess. Couldn't really distinguish flavors. 3 stars at most. Overall, this is a 5-star place if you come for drinks. It's perfect for a group and you'll hit a home run on a date. But eat elsewhere, please. We paid almost $100 and had mediocre food.

Pricey bar food close to everything! The service was great! Fast and friendly servers. Nothing spectacular about the cocktails. I ordered the single cheeseburger and probably should've ordered the double. Too much bun! Needed a little more meat to balance out all of the bread. Overall, just a basic burger with mid flavor. I'm sure it is much better with 2 patties. My husband ordered the pancakes, bacon, and banana bread. His meal was delicious!!! The order of pancakes is enough to share. They were some of the best pancakes I've ever had! The banana bread was really good too!!! Not sure what type of butter they give to compliment the banana bread, but it is everything! Can't go wrong ordering breakfast/ brunch here!

Loved it! We spent all day in Central Park, and were spending the next day at MOMA. We were tired and wanted dinner near our hotel. Tanner Smiths was perfect. Absolutely beautiful bar and restaurant. Service was wonderful. The menu is huge. Food was pretty good. Started off with a pretty well poured Guinness. We shared the feta bites and chick peas. My wife had the truffle Mac and cheese. I had the chicken sandwich with truffle parmesan fries. The dinners were huge and we could have easily shared the sandwich and fries. I ate the truffle mac and cheese the next morning Definitely a place that we will return to on one of our next trips to NYC.

This is a great neighborhood bar -- comfortable, welcoming, and consistent. The food is solid, and the cocktails are excellent -- you can tell they put care into what they do. It's casual and the service is always friendly. It quickly became our go-to spot for a drink. Definitely a place worth keeping in your local rotation.

I went for brunch with my best friend for my birthday and had an amazing time. The server/host was kind and informative and even gave us shots for my birthday. We had the unlimited mimosas and I had the hot chicken and waffle and my friend had the smokehouse burger. The drinks were good especially the tea drink with tequila and grapefruit. The bathroom was very clean and smelled good. 20% gratuity was included. The only thing I would prefer was if the water that is preset on tables were covered. I really enjoyed my time and definitely would come back.

We went for a late dinner and drinks and enjoyed everything about it. Great, friendly service and the dim ambiance were perfect. Get the Mac and cheese, best I've ever had!

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation.
