Delicious. Not one complaint. Burger was juicy. Bun was good. Fries were perfect, super flavorful. The beef tallow does some magic. Nice that you can buy straight up tubs of it. Chill indoor & outdoor seating with heaters & TVs. Staff were nice- one guy standing by didnt hesitate to go find confirm the ingredients of their signature sauce when I was asking about dairy. Spot is a winner for sure. read more

Following up on a Yelp alert this evening, I stopped in to give Tanner's a try. Off the bat, Tanner's is a well thought out layout. A very large and nice patio area with the bar open to it. The inside dining is well thought out. I had the single 1/3 lb burger with fries and a soda. The burger was very good. Try putting Tanner's hot sauce on it, which is a nice compliment to it. The fries came with a garlic aioli dipping sauce that is terrific. Closed with the Fatty Patty dessert, a must-have an made in-house! The staff is on point, Alison and Samantha! This is a Coca-Cola house that serves beer and wine, too. For only being open 3 weeks, they are doing an excellent job! Check them out,you won't be disappointed. Another great addition to the Oceanside restaurant scene! read more

I've lived around the corner for 15 years and since this place has opened, it is crowded whenever I drive by so I never stop. I was in a hurry to grab a bite and saw that it was pretty empty so I stopped and ordered 1 single burger to go. After almost 20 minutes, I got my burger. It was delicious, but considering you walk up to order, pick it up yourself, and the service when ordering was mediocre at best, I don't know that it is worth the $11.85 for the burger. I waited around long enough to read Tanner's Prime Burgers' values on the wall. I can say that during my visit, I definitely got the P., but I certainly didn't get the R,I,M, or the E! read more

A fun place to get great food thats close to the ocean. Limited menu so it's important to check it out before going. Thier focus is burgers. Even that is limited, but what a great burger(s) it is. So, for burger fans, it"s a must try. Expect long lines at meal times and seating capacity barely handles the crowd. Also oarking is tight and limited. As we were there at the end of lunch, I can't say anything about parking during rush hours. Service was friendly and food arrived promptly. Thier hambuger salad was disappointing. It consisted of a pile of whole lettuce leaves on top of which was a hamburger patty. read more

Zero regrets. Try this place as soon as you can. The quality to cost ratio is better than anywhere else. Yes, there's almost always a line. But that means it's good. And it moves fast and your order comes out just a quick since the menu is short and simple. I can't wait to go back. Staff is friendly and fast without seeming pushy to get to the next person. Great outdoor space. Parking is difficult, but almost all of Oceanside is getting to be the same. read more

Let's just say Tanner's did not disappoint. We have heard of this burger spot for a few months. We went to try it out and the fam bam loved every bit of it. The fries were some of the best and believe me. I know fries. Burgers were moist and cooked perfectly. The staff was cool and professional, and checked in on us regularly. Awesome location and the vibe is chill, the burger was very tasty and the regular fries were good. The IPA is actually really good it was crisp and full bodied. The price is fair not crazy expensive for what you get. the service was exceptional and they were all smiles. I liked the hot sauce in the bottle and the waitress said I can take it, so I did. the line was super long all the way across the patio to the next place but it went fairly quickly and our food came out not to long after we were seated.Only thing I would suggest to management is to install some of those UV bug lights, the dining room was full of those little beach bugs / bar flies, I sat outside at first as we waited and it was fine. Once I got inside I noticed them. Not a deal breaker but something to consider. I do recommend you give this place a try and see for yourself Its a great Burger. read more

WOW! I want to go to Tanner's for every dinner. My boyfriend and I decided to go somewhere new and the reviews looked great. It was in the cutest area of Oceanside and they had the best outdoor seating. I loved all the dogs on the patio and it felt very family oriented. The food was amazing. We both got the 1/3 single burger. The grilled onions were the perfect amount of sweet and crispy. The burger had delicious crispy edges and was perfectly seasoned and had burger sauce on it. The tallow fries were delicious especially in the garlic aioli! I got a sweet tea and my boyfriend got a beer. Next time, I want to try the beef tallow ice cream sandwich. Lastly, the service was great. I believe it was Sylvia who brought us our food and she was lovely. Everyone was so nice and we will absolutely be back! read more

Solid! Order at the counter and grab a table type of service. We ordered a lettuce wrapped double cheeseburger and a regular double cheeseburger with regular fries and Tanner fries. The patties had a nice crust (albeit a touch oily) and a great meaty flavor. If I'm being picky, the serving of lettuce and tomato is a bit on the light side, I would've preferred more of both. The burger doesn't come with sauce so it's add it yourself. Fries were just ok and had that beef fat flavor which can be a bit tiring on the palate with the burger. The bun on my boyfriend's burger was soft, buttery and delicious and he liked the flavors on his fries. They have beef bacon as a burger option so nice for those that don't eat pork. Solid stop if you're in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to get it again. read more

This is 100% the best burger in San Diego county, and may be the best burger I've had. The hype on this place is real, and you will see that when you see the line to order. The line scares a lot of people off, but it moves fast, and since the menu is only a few items, the food comes out fast too. Mid burger at best, pretty tasty milkshake and fries. Service was fast but they served the burgers on a single platter forcing us to eat on napkins. Not a huge ordeal. The burger wasn't seasoned that well and was burned (parts were nice and other parts were bland). My husband's burger was juicy (dripped on him) but mine was not. Tasted very similar to In N'out. Mustard contrast was sharp. Didn't offer ketchup with fries, just their sauce, which again, was almost identical to in n outs sauce. I'd go again if i was in the neighborhood again. However, if you want a super tasty burger and don't care about it not serving alcohol or being "trendy", hit up Mooyah down the street. read more

One single cheeseburger, one double cheese burger, 2 sodas and one fry..$42. Am I in Little Italy or Oceanside? The burger was good, but not $42 for two people good. If you want an egg on your burger, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, if you want onion rings, if you want bbq sauce..not here. If you want different cheeses, several topping and sauce choices not here. The same one burger choice in either single or double and thats the only choice. Oh and a hot dog with again...one choice. This is a super basic pop up style menu that is gonna get old quick. If you have "BURGERS" on your name don't show up with one burger choice. I hope they expand the menu. I wish all small businesses well but you gotta come strong not just one offering. Oceanside is filled with awesome burger joints like Ty's, Cosmos, MOOYAH in Carlsbad with multiple burger options and selection. read more

Smash burgers are all the rage at the moment. Tanner's nails theirs. Excellent crispy edges, juicy middle, creamy cheese, crisp tomato/onion. The bun was perfectly toasted and classic brioche. Cheese fries are next level. The cheese sauce is scratch made and it shows. Lots of depth in flavor, smooth consistency, and remained warm the whole time I was eating. Put this on everything and anything and it will make it better. My food came out super fast, everyone there is friendly and upbeat. Saturday at lunch and it was full but not too full that I couldn't get a seat at the bar. (Pro tip: sit at the bar to skip the line and you can order at your seat). Tanner's aesthetic is clean, with the standard furnishings of wood, concrete, and metal - in the right places. It's designed to give you a good place to eat up their amazing food and then off to the beach! I will come back specifically to try their ice cream sandwich. read more

I can see why he is a Michelin star Chef attention to detail Everything comes out excellent and rather quickly it's amazing how good this Burger is and I'm a huge fan of Rockys crown point Burger, but the quality, the consistency and the fact that they carry Happy Dad gives them an edge over Rockys. Shameful and this is sincere. A thin slice of pounded cube steak. The cheese slice was thicker. Not juicy at all just the taste of seared meat and lots of salt, coarsely ground beef that contain more fat than lean. Bun for thickness, no lettuce through and lots of goo glue secret sauce. We started with some appetizers - my favorite was the crispy brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Everything was perfectly roasted and there was a great kick with the habanero jam feta. The fly basket was pretty good, but keep in mind that the portion size is small - 3 of each of the hush puppies, fried shrimp, and fried green tomatoes. My husband ordered one of the specials which was a short rib pot pie - one of our favorite dishes of the night. The short rib was so tender and the dish was rich but in the perfect way. I ordered the tri tip sando. It was loaded up with meat and grilled peppers and onions. I upgraded my fries to truffle fries and those were really flavorful! My mom ordered the cioppino. She was a little disappointed by how many mussels there were in the dish - she had been hoping for more fish and shrimp. She said the flavor was good though. For dessert, we did opt to try the beignets. Honestly I could have done without them. They weren't as light and fluffy as they could've been. Overall, it was a good experience with great accommodations for our toddlers and great service.

If you're looking for the absolute pinnacle of the "smash burger" movement, look no further than Tanner's Prime Burgers in South Oceanside. This isn't just another burger joint; it's a masterclass in culinary collaboration, bringing together the expertise of Michelin-starred Chef Brandon Rodgers and the legendary quality of Brandt Beef. From the moment you walk into the Freeman Collective, the vibe is electric--clean, modern, and perfectly North County. But the food is the real star. Here is why Tanner's is a must-visit: The Main Event: The Burgers The meat is 100% USDA Prime Brandt Beef, and you can truly taste the difference. The Tanner's Prime Double is a work of art. The patties have those signature crispy, lacy edges that only a perfect smash can achieve, yet they remain incredibly juicy. * The Toppings: They use "New School" American cheese (which melts like a dream), caramelized onions, and their signature "Cowboy Beef Bacon." * The Kick: Each burger comes with a Cascabella pepper on the side, providing that perfect vinegary snap to cut through the richness of the prime beef. The Sides & Sweets You cannot leave without ordering the Tallow Fries. While most places use seed oils, Tanner's stays true to the craft by double-frying their potatoes in beef tallow. They are exceptionally crisp, savory, and arguably the best fries in San Diego County. If you're feeling adventurous, the Dirty Tallow Fries take it to another level--smothered in prime beef, more of that cowboy bacon, and a drizzle of garlic aioli. And for dessert? The Fatty Patty ice cream sandwich (made with beef tallow ice cream!) is a genius, silky-smooth finish that sounds unusual but tastes like pure luxury. Why It Stands Out * Vertical Integration: Because they are owned by the beef supplier, you're getting elite, steakhouse-quality meat at a fraction of the price you'd pay elsewhere. * Chef-Driven Details: From the fermented house-made hot sauce to the custom Brioche buns, nothing here is an afterthought. * The Experience: Whether you're grabbing a Tanner's Prime IPA to enjoy on the dog-friendly patio or watching the team work the grill with surgical precision, it's a top-tier experience. Verdict: Tanner's Prime Burgers has officially set the new gold standard for Oceanside. It's rich, it's messy, and it's worth every single calorie. Do yourself a favor and get there early--the secret is definitely out! read more

TLDR: Tanner's Prime Burgers in Oceanside delivers upscale smash burgers with premium ingredients and thoughtful execution. Fries are a standout, and the overall experience justifies the slightly higher price point. Overview: Tanner's Prime Burgers is a fast-casual eatery founded by Michelin-starred chef Brandon Rodgers. The restaurant emphasizes quality, using 100% USDA Prime beef sourced from Brandt Beef. The ambiance is modern and inviting, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating options. The branding is cohesive, extending from the decor to the packaging. Notably, Tanner's has been recognized by the Michelin Guide as a recommended restaurant in California. Food: - Tanner's Burger: The standard burger features a well-executed smash patty with a pronounced Maillard crust, topped with caramelized onions and American cheese, all nestled in a toasted brioche bun. While the burger is solid, the house-made sauce could be more prominent to enhance the flavor profile. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this burger. - Fries: The fries are thin-cut, reminiscent of McDonald's style, but elevated. Fried in beef tallow and double-cooked, they achieve a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Seasoned moderately, they cater to various salt preferences. Overall, they were the highlight of the meal for me. - Chocolate Milkshake: The milkshake stands out with its thick consistency and deep cocoa flavor. While not the best I have ever had, it easily surpasses a typical chocolate shake. - Sweet Tea and Lemonade: These beverage options are refreshing and well-balanced, making them a recommended choice for those who enjoy classic Southern drinks. In particular, they taste amazing if you combine them to make an Arnold Palmer. Final Thoughts: Tanner's Prime Burgers offers a refined take on classic American fare, emphasizing quality ingredients and meticulous preparation. While prices are on the higher side ($6 for fries, $15 for a double burger, and $7 for a milkshake) the value is evident in the taste and experience. The restaurant's inclusion in the Michelin Guide underscores its commitment to excellence. For those seeking a slightly elevated burger experience in a casual setting, Tanner's is a solid choice. read more

The burgers at Tanner's are, without a doubt, exceptionally juicy and delightfully crispy--a true masterpiece of flavor. Every bite is a symphony of perfectly cooked meat, fresh toppings, and a bun that ties it all together wonderfully. Honestly, the burger itself is one of the best I've ever had, and it deserves all the accolades. However, I regret to say that my dining experience was marred by terrible service, which left me feeling incredibly disappointed. My party ordered three burgers: one with no tomato, one with everything, and one with no bacon. While the food arrived promptly, the issues began when we asked our server to clarify which burger had no bacon. To our surprise, she seemed unsure and had to return to the kitchen, only to come back with a fork and start inspecting our burgers in front of us. It felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. At one point, my friend and the server identified the burger without tomato, but the rest remained a mystery. She then took two of the burgers back to the kitchen, leaving one on the table, which I assumed was mine. As I was about to take a bite, the server came rushing back, grabbed the burger out of my mouth (yes, out of my mouth) and said she needed to check it. This was beyond shocking. After another trip to the kitchen, she returned, finally having sorted the burgers. When I politely mentioned that grabbing food out of a customer's mouth was unacceptable, her response was, "Oh HONEY, I just don't want anyone to have an allergic reaction." While I appreciate her concern, the way this situation was handled was appalling, and it overshadowed what should have been a wonderful meal. This incident occurred on March 30, 2025, around 9:30-10 PM, and the server in question had long black hair. In short, the burgers are absolutely phenomenal, but the service left a lot to be desired. Tanner's might be worth revisiting for the food alone, but I sincerely hope their staff receives better training in handling customer orders moving forward. read more

Okay OMG... Tanner's Prime Burgers might honestly be the BEST burger place we have ever been to! This place is so much more than just a burger joint. There are tables inside, comfortable bar seating, and outdoor seating, so you can enjoy it however you like. It's a restaurant, a bar, and even a great spot to watch a game with a good burger and a drink. And their menu goes way beyond burgers! Unlike most burger places, Tanner's has coffee, their own beer, homemade lemonade, cocktails, house-made sauces, and even beef tallow that you can actually buy to take home! I mean... how cool is that? Of course, the burgers are the star of the show. Their Prime beef smash burgers have those amazing crispy, caramelized edges while staying juicy and incredibly flavorful inside. You can really taste the quality of the beef, and every ingredient comes together perfectly. It's the kind of burger where you take that first bite and immediately look at each other like, "OMG, this is GOOD!" And we couldn't leave without trying the chocolate milkshakes. They were thick, creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious--an old-fashioned milkshake exactly the way it should be. Seriously, every sip brought back that classic milkshake feeling. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and welcoming, and the whole experience just feels like Tanner's really knows what they're doing. From the food and drinks to the atmosphere and service, everything comes together beautifully. Tanner's Prime Burgers is definitely one of our new favorite spots in Oceanside. If you're anywhere in the area and love a great burger, do yourself a favor and stop here. Come hungry, because you're going to want to try more than just the burger! read more

Review of Tanner's Burgers at Front Wave Arena I recently had the misfortune of dining at Tanner's Burgers during an event at Front Wave Arena, and I can confidently say it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. To start, the wait time was absurd. After standing in line for a staggering 10 minutes, I finally reached the front, only to be met with the unfortunate news that they had run out of fries, burgers, and hot dogs. Seriously? This was a major event, and they were completely unprepared for the crowd. After an additional 5-minute wait, I was finally able to order some burgers. What I received was less than appetizing. The patties looked as if they were falling apart, and I'm not even sure I received a full patty on my bun. It was disheartening to see such a lack of care in the food preparation, especially when I had already invested my time in line. When I instead inquired about hot dogs, I was told they would be ready in 5-10 minutes. Given my previous experience, I had little faith in that timeline. We ended up opting for the chicken tenders and fries instead, which were overpriced at $13.99 for just three tenders and a handful of fries. To make matters worse, the tenders were dry, and one of them was only half a tender. How does that even happen? Overall, my experience at Tanner's Burgers was absolutely unacceptable. The long wait, lack of food options, and poor quality of what we did receive left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I would not recommend dining here, especially during an event when you're expecting a quick meal. Save your money and look for better options elsewhere. read more

Tanner's Prime Burgers absolutely lived up to the hype. These are smash burgers... but somehow they also smashed straight into my soul. The quality of the beef is what really sets this place apart. Every bite tasted fresh, juicy, and like someone actually cared about making a great burger instead of just another fast-food burger. Now let's talk about the beef tallow fries... these might honestly be some of the best fries I've ever had. Crispy, rich, and packed with flavor. You can absolutely taste the difference. Pro tip: Grab the yellow peppers. Don't think about it. Just do it. They add the perfect kick and somehow make the whole burger experience even better. The vibe with the world Cup games was the cherry on top for sure! The staff was super friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. I also tried the sweet tea, and it was surprisingly excellent. The Fatty Patty (their ice cream dessert) was decent, but I'd probably skip it next time... mainly because I'd rather save room for another burger. Parking is generally fine, although if you show up during a busy time, you might have to park a little farther away. Trust me..it's worth the extra steps. I'll 100% be back. Come hungry... and maybe emotionally prepared, because these burgers might just change your standards forever. read more

Yelp Review for Tanner's: Tanner's has definitely lived up to the hype! We've been hearing a lot about smash burgers lately, and we've been dying to try this place--and it did not disappoint. SERVICE The ordering process is simple and laid-back--just order at the counter and then find a seat. Everyone behind the counter was super friendly and welcoming, which definitely set the tone for a great experience. FOOD The menu is refreshingly simple, which I really appreciate. It's clear they focus on quality over quantity. No overwhelming choices here, just solid, delicious options. Burgers - The smash burgers are fresh and cooked perfectly. You get that crispy, caramelized exterior on the burger that's just the right amount of crunch, while keeping the inside juicy and tender. Simple, but so good. Fries - The fries are on point--crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Definitely a highlight and a perfect pairing with the burger. Overall, everything we had was spot on. We've been craving it ever since and can't wait to go back! If you're a burger fan, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend! read more

I'm completely disgusted by this place. I was here last night and I spent $160 when I went into the car. I realized I was missing four sets of fries, a hotdog and a dirty fry. I came back inside at 10:05pm Keke was assisting me and going with me through my order And making sure everything was correct. She went and let the cooks know that I was missing items from my order and the cooks started cussing at her. I let Keke know it was okay I'll just take what I have don't worry about it because of what was being said by the cooks to her. I will not be back because of the behavior of the cooks and how they talk/treated her. She was trying to help me and even went out of her way to talk to another manager to let him know that my entire order was wrong and if he could help. He did help her but I could see it in her face she was ready to cry! I will NOT be recommending this place to anyone especially after I watched the behavior happen and not one person stood up for her. It's disgusting and had nothing to do with her she was just trying to help me. I hope she reports what was said to her! read more

The line at Tanner's on a Saturday night was totally worth the wait. It usually wraps around the outside of the building, and after trying the food, it's easy to see why people stick around. The menu is straightforward, which made ordering a breeze. We went with the 1/3 lb and 2/3 lb prime burgers, and let me tell you, if I'd known the burger was going to be that good, I'd have gone for the 2/3 myself. The exterior had that perfect smash burger crisp--exactly what you'd hope for. It was crunchy but not burnt, packed with flavor, and truly delivered that classic smash burger look and taste. If you're thinking about skipping the fries, don't! This was my first time trying beef tallow fries, and they set the bar high. They were crispy, light, and not heavy at all, paired with a garlic aioli sauce that was downright addictive. I found myself wishing I'd ordered my own serving of fries! Service was quick and easy--perfect for grabbing a bite and getting back to your night. I'll definitely be back for more. read more

Tanner's Prime Burgers delivers on every level. I got the Tanner's Prime Burger and it was incredible juicy, perfectly smashed, and loaded with flavor from the hot sauce and their signature Tanner's Sauce. You can genuinely taste the quality in every bite. The beef is 100% USDA Prime, which is the highest grade available, and the difference is absolutely noticeable compared to your average burger spot. The star of the show for me were the Dirty Tallow Fries hands down my favorite fries I've ever had. They're cooked in all natural beef tallow, which gives them an unreal depth of flavor. Everything tastes so natural and fresh. The spot has both indoor and outdoor seating, so there's plenty of room once you're in. Expect a line it's popular for good reason, but it moves fast. As a local, I was really excited to try out this new burger spot. The menu is simple, and although the line was long, it moved quickly. The staff are friendly, and the place is clean. The fries paired with the garlic aioli sauce are a standout--crispy and flavorful. However, the burger patties are disappointingly over-salted. It's so intense that it actually burns my tongue. Absolutely, here's a more detailed version: "As I reflect on my experience at Tanner's Prime, I can't help but linger on the memory of their incredible burger and fries. I was thoroughly impressed. I opted for the 1/3 lb smash burger, and it was fantastic. The beefy flavor was spot-on, and the burger was incredibly satisfying--one was enough to leave me full. The beef tallow fries are nearly PERFECT and complement the meal well, adding to the enjoyment. The atmosphere at Tanner's is welcoming, and the service is friendly and efficient. Despite the line, the wait was reasonable, and the food was worth it. If you're craving a delicious burger in the area, Tanner's Prime Burgers is a must-try! read more

Tanners Burgers truly lives up to the hype! I can confidently say they serve the best burgers I've ever had. It's no surprise they earned a Michelin star--every bite is a testament to their culinary excellence. The staff is incredibly friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant is spotless, which adds to the overall welcoming atmosphere. This place is simply awesome! I wish they would open more locations so even more people could experience their amazing burgers. Highly recommended! read more

The ambiance....super cool! We went with the recommendations of the counter gal, who was super friendly, she did not steer us wrong! Hubs had the firebird sandwich, and his verdict...delicious! I had the little pecker which came with 3 chicken tenders, biscuits (with THE best honey butter) and fries (sooo good)! Dogs are welcome at any table (both inside and outside), which was a huge plus since we had our pup with us. The location is easy to get to, pretty much right off the 5 freeway. We will definitely be back!

The first time I tried the bacon cheeseburger and potato chips and for dine-in and it was cooked pretty well. On the second visit we had some take out and I ordered the Western burger with BBQ sauce and grilled onions. That has been the best one so far. There's plenty of healthy options as well if you prefer that route and their shakes are also look pretty good. This is definitely a spot we'll come back to when in the area. They

Initially ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a "personal" size order of fries. While we waited for his food, I couldn't help but see other people eat burgers amd fries and it started to make me hungry soooo...I ended up ordering the Keto (Lean Turkey Iceburger [lettuce instead of buns]). We'd planned to take our food to go but just couldn't wait once we got the bag of goodies. Everything was freshly prepared and served hot! Fries are served skins on them (wish I'm a BIG fan of) and were well-seasoned. My turkey burger was great and the kid ran thru the bacon cheeseburger lighting fast. The restaurant itself is comfortable - not a huge space but I'd say about 5-6 tables inside. Can't recall if they have outside seating or not...regardless, the placewas clean and inviting. As for the service, the young lady behind the counter was phenomenal - very polite and friendly. In fact, she impressed me so much - one customer came in while we were eating in an electric wheelchair with limited mobility. She was beyond kind to the customer - she answered his menu questions, got him his drink order (which is normally self-serve), and made sure he had plenty of room at the table where he chose to sit. It was heartwarming to see a young person show such grace and kindness - not something I see a lot of these days! I thanked her for being so great and helpful and told her she'd been raised very, very well and her parents should be proud. A great experience overall and we'd definitely return. Their menu offerings are expansive and I saw a number of things I'd like to try next time I go back. Highly recommended!

The first time we had our hangry baby & doggo with us and it was extremely packed! Sadly we had to leave, but said we would def return to try again. The hubs and I each got the Birdman sandwich (spice levels 360 & 720), a half order of duck fat fries, and sunomono pickles. I thought my sandwich was great! It was basically a nice sit down restaurant worthy chicken sandwich that I could quickly grab and go. I thought 360 wasn't quite spicy enough but 720 was a bit too much for me to enjoy the sandwich. My husband liked it though LOL The duck fat fries & sunomono pickles were good as well. I'm glad we finally got to try it!
