Tater tots with Boomba sauce & Ranch
Perla R.

The burgers are awesome here, the sides are also delicious and we also tried a dessert that was homemade & amazing! We tried the the western burger which had bbq bacon, onion, pickled, American cheese & a onion ring on it it was so good! It's big and I split the burger with a friend & we ordered the farmhand fries which were top fave they had tomatoes red onion bacon bits and ranch so so so good! We shared the pickle plate which was also good but the dessert was a coconut pie and it was beyond delicious I highly recommend trying this place for lunch/dinner!

I've been to Copper Kings Burgers twice now and really enjoyed it both times. I got the GOAT burger ($14) each visit because I love goat cheese, and it was so good. Their burgers are smashburger style, and I love that they bake their own Japanese milk buns and grind their own beef in house. You can definitely taste the quality. The burgers come by themselves, so fries, tots, and dips are extra. They also do monthly specials, which makes me want to come back and try something different next time. I was also surprised by how good the desserts were. They're made by a pastry chef and honestly better than I expected from a burger place. There's plenty of parking lot parking, plus both indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs are allowed on the patio, and they even have a $4 puppy patty (3 ounce smash burger with no seasoning) for them, which I thought was really cute.

The Spicy Burger

Nice burger hangout spot with friendly service and solid food. I got the Spicy Burger which was seasoned well and not too spicy overall. Their japanese milk buns were very soft and pillowy and a highlight of the burger. The Chili Cheese Fries were very flavorful. I'm used to chili being more saucy and so this one was a bit more dry and didn't coat the fries all the way through. Their ranch sauce was also really delicious and probably the best I've had. Would definitely come back to try out some of their other items!

Crappy Meal

Came here for Happy Hour and it did not disappoint. The ordering system was super convenient. You can order via a QR code right at your table or at the host stand inside. Since it was our first time, we went inside to order our mains first and then easily added dessert later using the table QR code. The outdoor seating is great! It was nice and sunny, though it did get a bit chilly later on, so definitely bring a jacket just in case. The "Crappy Meal" from the HH menu comes with a beer can and it was delicious. The Anaconda Bar from the dessert menu was incredible. It's like a seriously elevated Klondike bar. Their entire menu looks incredibly intriguing. I'll definitely be back to try more items, especially their June specials like the Pineapple Express Burger and the Spam Musubi Fries!

cajun fries with ranch western burger

Ample seating both indoors and outdoors. The parking situation is a bit weird so my party and I just parked outside Dogtopia and walked over. This is a pretty casual setting so you just order at the register and they can serve your food to your table. Water is available next to the door. Burger and cajun-seasoned fries were great! Just thought it was an interesting choice that the western burger included both fresh onion and onion rings. The ranch was ruined for me as it had a strong dill flavor which reminded me of pickles which I don't like. The staff are kind and can banter with you.

Stopped by for dinner after watching a movie. Wanted to try this place for awhile. Their Japanese milk buns are really good with the burgers. Service was great and i got to try out a few drinks

The burger and fries

Copper Kings Burgers in San Marcos offers a tasty satisfying smash burger with crispy edges and an amalgamation of cheese and sauce in a burger. Connoisseurs of smash burgers will definitely need to put this place on your list as it is a burger made with the freshest ingredients. I have had Copper Kings on my list for a while especially as my coworkers would talk about this place alot when talked about burgers. The day finally came when we all went to lunch with some first timers and some who have been before. As my first time, I asked the staff that if this is my first time here what should I get or what made this place famous. Without a doubt he said to order the the burger and fries. After a small wait my food was delivered to my table and the presentation was excellent. The burger was well wrapped and the crispy meat edges where glistening ready to be devoured. The first couple of bites with the edges was heaven and as you got towards the center thats when the fun began with the cheese and tangy sauce began to kick in. The bun was pretty fresh and stood up well with all the sauce and juice dripping through. I would definitely order this again but they have alot of specials and burgers with different toppings. Service was great with the staff explaining all the specials and classics. Long bar with tables both inside and out, it is a great casual burger joint located in the heart of San Marcos. Overall great first time experience at Copper Kings. It did live up to the hype from all of my coworkers saying it was a pretty good smashburger.

Chili fries shareable

Great food, service and ambiance. Stopped in for my husband's bday and I'm glad we chose CK. First timer and Yelpers did a perfect job hyping it up it's accurate. Food was flavorful, hot and tasted fresh. Their ranch was so good, chili fries very good, everything was on point. Hoping to visit when I'm in the area again. Plenty of picnic tables on the patio, tvs available and inside seating as well. Parking lot is decent, with space across the way from the establishment. Ordering is easy. Use QR code at table or go inside. QR code gives you the choice to pay through your phone; credit, google pay are options.

Holy shite. This place is my new favorite spot. Chef David makes everything homemade...including the buns. Omgs. Delicious. I had the pastrami burger and it was also homemade. Amanda is super nice at the bar. I need to come for happy hour.

Came back to try their burgers again, this time we asked for light on the salt for the burger patties and for the most part it was less salty than the originals we've ordered. The tots however had a heavy hand of salt, we gotta ask for light on the salt there too. Overall, without a mouth full of salt, the burgers are delicious. The homemade bun is excellent too. We ordered one of their cookies and unfortunately, it was not good.

Reuben loaded tater tots

I came by here cause I saw that they used Japanese milk buns for their burgers which piqued my interest. The restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a plaza but once you enter it feels as if you just entered your own friendly neighborhood bar/pub. Me and my partner ended up going with the chili burger for herself and the pastrami burger for myself. We also got the Reuben loaded tater tots to share. The tots were fried very well so no complaints there. I personally felt it was too tangy (probably due to the sauerkraut, chopped pickles and thousand island sauce) and not a whole lot of the Reuben brisket but it was still enjoyable. The chili burger which I only tried a couple of bites of tasted good but both me and my partner felt like there was too much mustard. It was still good though. Of everything I tried the pastrami burger I had was definitely the best item. Well seasoned pastrami which paired nicely with the smashed patties and the pickled onions. As for the reason I came here; the use of milk buns was great because it made it feel like a completely different burger experience than I'm normally used to. The fluffiness of the buns made it a unique texture difference that really tied the whole thing together. I'll give them major props for baking their own buns in house because it really elevates the burgers vs what you'd get at other gourmet burger spots. As for service, absolutely no complaints. Food came out reasonably quick and all the servers were nice. I also liked that there's a little burger sign near the back that lights up whenever a burger is ready and they are bringing it out. Would highly recommend visiting here if you're interested in trying a different type of burger. The milk buns alone make it worth trying!

Classic Burger

I've heard a lot about Copper Kings Burgers for several years now but never ventured over to San Marcos to try them. Now open in Oceanside we went for lunch today. Service is good, a little spotty at times but everyone was friendly and trying to be as helpful as possible. They are new and still learning! Food came out a little slow but the wait was worth it. The burgers were big and flavorful. The bun is delicious and probably one of the best around. I got the Pastrami Mami and it was huge. The Pastrami was excellent, the burger juicy and with a touch more sauce I added it hit all the right spots. We also tried the classic burger. A big double patty burger. Once again cooked perfectly and delicious. We also tried the seasoned Tater Tots and the Pink Bellini cake. The tots were a little over seasoned, I didn't care for the Copper sauce we were given on the side, it had a tartar sauce taste that just didn't work for me flavor wise. The cake was outstanding and reason enough to stop in, in the future. Lastly we took a focaccia bread to go and it was perfection. I would definitely eat here again and I look forward to trying more items from the menu next time.

Today, we ordered the classic lunch combo burger with fries-delicious and does not taste like freezer burn!!! There is a choice of not just beef, but also impossible, gluten free, and grass fed meats. All burgers are cooked to medium unless you specify otherwise. Easy to order-just go to the counter and order, pick a seat and wait for your meal. The interior dining area has plenty of seating and restrooms in the back. You order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. It's hard to find a burger place with all my favorites: an egg, bacon, and avocado. The bacon was crispy, the egg was medium and wasn't too runny, and the brioche bread was a little sweet and fluffy. They use angus beef for their patties. You can also split your fries which I love! I got to try the onion rings and sweet potato fries. I wish the sweet potato fries were crispy. They were more on the soggy side. The onion rings batter was a lil thicker than I like. The batter overpowered the onion. We also got the Cajun wings to try which was nice and crispy! They give you a few sauces on the side so you can dip it. I got the ranch which was so good with the wings, fries and burger. The milkshakes are pretty delicious! We got the classic vanilla one. It was a pretty thick shake so you know they use legit ice cream! I also liked the peach lemonade. I would check this place out if you're in the area!

My go-to is the double burger with no cheese and no sauce. They give you the sauce on the side if you want to put some on, but I find it better without it. Pairing it with one of their refreshing beers (N/A from Best Day Brewing available) and their beef tallow fries is perfection. I'm not a fan of their Fatty Patty, a cookie ice cream sandwich -- it's weirdly too fatty of a mouth feel. I really wish they would sell the cookies by themselves. I had them at a different event, and I've wished for more beef tallow choc chip cookies since. If I liked baking, I'd get a tub of their beef tallow (yup, it's for sale) and make them myself. Hint hint to any bakers out there. And if you've read this far, I'll give up one of my hacks. Skip the line and sit at the bar. You can order full menu from there. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of ordering a salad. I got the Greek Tavern Salad, which doesn't come with meat, so you have to pay extra to add chicken. The chicken was very dry and flavorless and in a big chunk on top of the salad. The tomatoes and green peppers were also in really big pieces, so I really wish I'd been given a better knife to cut everything up. I also wish the salad had a better Mediterranean-style dressing and more feta. I ended up leaving most of it behind. The other thing that really bothered me was that they started deep cleaning the restaurant around 9pm, even though they're open until 10pm. They were fully mopping and stacking chairs around us, which made us feel like we were being rushed out. I actually asked when they closed, and they said 10pm--it was barely 9pm at that point! Who wants to smell cleaning chemicals and have furniture being stacked around them while they're still eating? The decor is cute and the restaurant has a lot of character, but unfortunately the food and the way the evening ended probably means I won't be back.
