Six packs. For the exiled East Coasters who been wanderin' the desert west lookin' for salvation. You grab one and whisper "Go Birds" under your breath like a prayer. But here's the kicker. The thing that made me sit back and whisper "holy jawn" to myself. They got water ice. Not "Italian ice." Not "shaved ice." Not "snow cones." Wuddir ice. A dozen flavors deep. A rainbow of frozen Philly childhood trauma therapy. Cherry that stains your lips like you just fought someone behind a Wawa. Mango that tastes like summer in Wildwood. Lemon that hits you with that perfect sour slap. Blue raspberry that should be illegal but isn't because God loves us. The dining room? Bro. It's a time capsule. A couple Rocky posters, a faded Eagles banner, and some Philly relics that look like they were stolen from a South Street pawn shop in 1998. Nobody's here for ambiance. The ambiance is the sound of the flat-top hissin' and some guy in a faded Brian Dawkins tee orderin' "two to tree" sangwidges like he's callin' plays at the Linc. And the cheesesteak? Best one west of the Mississippi, swear on my mother's gravy. Meat chopped proper, cheese melted like it's tryin' to hug you, onions sweatin' harder than a Cowboys fan in December. You grab a sack of these beauties, waddle out to your car, and eat 'em in the front seat like the feral Delco rat you truly are. Grease on the steering wheel. Roll crumbs on your hoodie. Tears in your eyes. Pure joy. By the time you're halfway through, you're poundin' the dashboard yellin' "BIRDS" at nobody. A stranger walks by and you nod at him like, yeah, we from the same tribe. THE BEST! Stopped in on New Year's Eve. Dining area was wide open with just a few customers, tables and entertainment place was spotless including the restroom. We ordered original Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and an order of fries with cheese (of course). Devoured it all!! So good and so filling as the portions are very generous. All the gals working look like they were related/owners family. I heard one of them telling another customer they just celebrated their 25th year in business. It's been years since I've been here but glad to see Philly Frank's still around. Was in the area and stopped by for a late lunch. The philly cheese steak here is still the best out of the different places I've tried. I like the works with provolone and hot peppers. You can pick whiz, provolone, or white American cheese options. Not sure what has changed, but long time customer, their cheesesteak just isn't the same. Same rude customer service, but it was worth it before for the amazing food. I used to order two of them and today couldn't get through one. The roll used to be the best but now the flavor is bland and the meat looks mushy and it's alright but not the same. The cheese fries are great, but at the price for a sandwich and fries, I unfortunately recommend to pass. I have eaten here a few times in the past and the food had always been good except for the french fries. My last visit here was not great, I noticed a lot of changes to the food. I ordered 2 sandwiches, the pepper cheesesteak and the mushroom cheesesteak and a side of fries (hoping they would taste better this time). The sandwiches were thin and small for the price, nearly $15 per sandwich, there wasn't a whole lot of flavor or cheese besides the grilled onion. The fries were still terrible, and tasted burnt and had a lot of burnt fries. Don't order their fries, it's that bad. It's a a cool little restaurant tucked in a strip mall with a bunch of Philadelphia stuff on the walls. The service was good. I was able he only one in there so I was taken care of quickly. The food is pretty good it's just small for the price. I ordered the works and it was $17 out the door for a sandwich that I was still hungry after eating. For $17 you could get a giant sandwich at Jersey mikes. But I get it Philly cheesesteaks are usually more expensive. Great sandwich and burger. I got a turkey hoagie the first time. Which was delicious, I love the thin onions on my hoagie. The second time I got a burger with extra toppings! A lovely older lady took our order and a hard working gentlemen/cook/server gave us our food. On the menu there is an option for "mixed peppers"... the pickle peppers & hot peppers made my Philly cheesesteak so delicious! Saw this place in passing several weeks ago. We happened to be passing at the lunch hour and decided to check it out. We ordered from Donald (I think he may have been the chef/cook) and he was friendly and answered a question about the cheesesteak sandwich so I ordered 'the cheesesteak'. That's what I got. Thinly sliced very tender steak with some white cheese melted beyond recognition on a perfect bun. Where's the veggies? We had anticipated bell peppers and onions. NOT! I'm guessing that is a different sandwich. Anyway, I had tipped Donald a dollar (my new norm is $0 tip) because he was nice and engaging; however once seated, our food was brought out and didn't have the Frings I also ordered from Donald. Looking at the receipt I noticed he didn't charge me for the Frings and also gave me 10% discount. I also notice a 4% surcharge was added to the bill. When our food was brought out, I told the server about the Frings and she went to have them prepared because there was now a line almost out the door. The place was super busy for a Sunday lunch. She brought the Frings out just as we were leaving. I offered to pay for them and they declined at first but accepted when I asked again and to also bring a to-go container for the Frings since we were already finished with our sandwich. I stopped by here because this place was recommended to me by one of my good friends. I was looking for more sandwich places to try around San Marcos & I just happen to be in the area running errands. I came in & the place was quiet, clean & spacious. The customer service was really nice, the lady who took my order was patient since I was new. The menu is pretty extensive and they had a lot of options of philly cheesesteaks plus cold deli sandwiches too which they consider a "Philly Hoagie". I went with the Mushroom Cheese Steak with the Cheez-Wiz and I got my husband the Italian Philly Hoagie with provolone cheese. We also got a side of Frings since my husband was feeling like fries & I'm an onion ring kind of gal. We took it to-go since we weren't far from home, and I was surprised to see our food didn't get cold at all. Packaged really well & just all around delicious flavors. The Cheez-Wiz actually matched the philly cheese steak really well because it was pretty much a nacho cheese marinated with the steak, it was flavorful. My husband's sandwich was also very good because we got two different flavor types! I think those two hot/cold sandwiches would be my top. The onion rings were my favorite side! Perfectly battered & crispy, and the fries were a shoestring type which were thin but also very crunchy. Their type of ranch there was delicious & I was happy to get that as the sauce for the sides.
