What does it say about me that I picked this place for dinner because it has "beaver" in the name? I don't want to know! But my excuse is that I did it for the children. Inexplicably, my kids love beavers, and so when we were staying in Carlsbad for the night and looking for a place to eat, how could we not visit a place called Belching Beaver? We couldn't not! And so we did. It turns out, Belching Beaver is a very family-friendly brewery, with lots of arcade games, lawn games, and an extremely laid-back atmosphere. I wasn't going to get a beer, but then I saw that the brewery did a collaboration with the Deftones to create an IPA called Phantom Bride. I had to get a pint. Chino Moreno made me do it! It was citrusy and refreshing, and just the thing to enjoy while sitting on the outdoor picnic tables. Belching Beaver offers your average pub food. My kids got chicken tenders and fries, and mac and cheese with fries. I got a poke bowl, which sounds like a risky choice at a brewery, but it was actually really good and fresh! Not too saucy, either. We also got the carne asada 980 Nachos, which are huge and come on a baking sheet. Plenty enough to share! This place is tucked away in what looks like an office plaza. I'm learning that a lot of breweries in this area are posted up in situations like this. You look like you're driving into a nondescript place to get your contract notarized, but instead, you happen upon a cool restaurant and brewery such as this. read more

Time to update! One of the consistent breweries with some good eats. We definitely like this laid back atmosphere of this location. It's a brewery. The other location is more of a restaurant now. They still have tots available with the tenders. However, the tenders were smaller than normal and it was overly breaded, so very little chicken meat inside. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, it was pretty good, had a sweet taste to it to balance out the spice. I think I can go without the sweet and take it all spicy! But totally understand the concept. Beers are tasty still. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Order at one line. Can build up at times. read more

When I head home to Poway, Belching Beaver is one of those pubs I will usually meet friends at because of its central location. But that drive east on 78 at about 5pm is just terrible! That aside, this is always a great place to drop in for beer and food. The staff is friendly and helpful and the selection of beers and drinks, second to none. Stopped in with my sister and her husband, where we met a high school friend of hers. We placed out drink and food order and just hung out. The peanut butter milk stout, especially on nitro is always a winner. So "dam" good! I was surprised at the Elote tots as well. Really well seasoned and very tasty. The pub was crowded at 3pm (holiday) on a Monday, with no tables available, so we took a seat at the bar, but it wasn't long before we scored a table in the middle of the bar area and enjoy the beer, food and company. Pretty decent brewery in the area. They have some really good beer options but the food was average. It was busy when we stopped by, I think the lunch rush must have just finished, so the service was on the slower side but the staff was still so kind. We went here for a quick drink and bite to eat since it was close. We were pleasantly surprised at everything. We visited around 2-3 on a Thursday so there weren't a ton of people here. We ordered the Cajun rub wings and the cheeseburger fries (I believe that's what they're called). We got a strawberry blonde and seltzer to start. Everything was delicious!! Hit the spot for sure! Would highly recommend this brewery to anyone looking for some delicious bar food, solid drinks, and ambiance. This place is a total gem nestled in the 'biotech beach' industrial area of Carlsbad. There's ample parking in the lots and on the street. The brewery has a cool camping vibe to it (a beaver's dam) and there's a ton of seating. The food menu is quite extensive with anything ranging from burgers, salads, sandwhiches to sides. There's definitely something for everyone here. Plus, there's a bunch of TVs for sports and games but it's not so loud that you can't chat with friends. Would definitely return! read more

We choose Belching Beaver Pub 980 to celebrate my and my husband's 60th birthdays! It was absolutely amazing! We hosted a taco bar (delicious) with various sides. We had about 65 guests. There were three servers (so friendly and helpful!) that were fantastic and quickly filled drink orders. BB was very accommodating and allowed for us to hire a band (also awesome-The Reflectors) and the dog friendly patio was a hit with our friend with pups! The patio is lovely and once it was dark, filled with festive lights. We would definitely recommend Belching Beaver Pub 980! Looking forward to going back there for dinner soon! read more

Visiting in town and met up with old colleagues here. I forgot how good this place is and the kicker was that the food was good. We used to come here when it first opened. Where do I start?...this place is so cool and I mean cool the breeze rolling through the bar because of the garage-type door that's rolled up. Love the ambience here. Quieter than their sister business in oceanside. We dropped by coz we were shopping at a nearby target. Hubby had party on pilsner. 5% ABV I had snoggy noggy nog - 9% ABV Party on pilsner is always hood and easy to drink. Snoggy noggy nog tasted good but had a slight bitter aftertaste. Daves's classic burger had fresh ingredients. But the onion rings had an additional coating of spices after being fried and hubby thought it tasted weird. My poke bowl was generally good.all ingredients in there are incredibly fresh. Just one suggestion- either put less sauce in the rice. Or put it on the side in little containers it was a little over salted. Otherwise it was good Will be back for the beer and the ambience. Of all three belching beaver pubs. I like this the best The seating is plentiful and they also have a little outdoor area out back. Ordering is done at the bar. And they will text you when your food is ready. We will be back. This is a great little brewery pub in a business park area. It wasn't super crowded when we came on a Sunday afternoon which was what we were looking for. We had our kids with us and they have a kids menu and a dirt patio area where kids can play in open space. I had the Passionfruit Guava Seltzer and it was delicious. To eat, I had the chicken tinga tostadas. I could only eat one so definitely a good size and I like the tinga flavor and crisp tortilla. It started to get busier as we left and they have a stage outside for live music which is cool. We will definitely come back with the kids sometime. read more

One of my favorite hidden gem pubs! The atmosphere is always welcoming, the drinks are top-notch, and the food never disappoints--I've never had a bad meal here. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the service is consistently excellent. I love that they're dog-friendly too, with treats and even dog patties available for our furry companions. Great spot for events, and the addition of the pool table and music really rounds out the experience. Highly recommend! This was hands down one of the coolest breweries and one hidden gem I've been to in a long time and it's definitely worth a visit if you're in beautiful Vista Downtown. I can't tell you how many times I've driven through this particular part of SD Country and had no idea that Vista even had a Downtown! I came across Belching Beaver Brewery last year while having a company event here and doing a presentation. Belching Beaver Brewery is a craft brewery that started in 2012 and now has six locations in San Diego County. Their Tavern & Grill in Vista Downtown is a former bank building that has been transformed into a cozy and rustic restaurant and bar. The coolest part is the bank safe which is now a private room to hold parties. They offer over 70 unique beers on tap, an extensive wine and spirit list, and a variety of dishes to pair with their brews. 5 stars for great ambiance, tasty food and beer plus friendly service!!
