Went with my daughter's soccer team, and overall, we had a good time! The atmosphere was fun, inviting, and definitely family-friendly. I really loved the indoor/outdoor seating, especially the string lights at night--they made the space feel warm and welcoming. There was also a nice variety of seating, including benches, chairs, and stools. That being said, the prices are ridiculous! I paid over $3 for a canned soda. I bought 4! The pizza was also a little disappointing and wasn't anything special. Customer service was okay--nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. Local Roots in Vista is easily one of the best pizza spots in North County. We got the pepperoni pizza with hot honey and it was incredible. That sweet heat on top of a well made pepperoni pizza is the kind of combo that makes you wonder why every pizza place doesn't do this. They also have a great selection of hard kombucha, which is a nice change of pace from the usual beer list. If you're into that, you'll love what they have on tap. What really makes this place stand out though is that it's a legit family spot. They have games to keep the kids entertained, so you can actually sit down and enjoy your food without rushing. Local Roots is a gem! My friend and I came here last week for the first time and it was great! I'm not sure if they were having a one time event, but they had pop ups outside with different vendors, live music, and more. The whole place had nothing but good vibes. They have a pool table inside and really nice spacious seating areas inside and out. Their pizza is delicious, especially after a drink or two. Our bartender was super kind and offered us a free non alcoholic kombucha! We will definitely be back and can't wait for more! read more

The first time I came here was pre-COVID time (back in 2019) and almost six years later, I visit again! It was in a smaller location with a cute vibe inside when I first visited but they moved to this new location, which was 4-5 years ago, and the place is great! I came on a Sunday afternoon and it's really chill. They have a "boochyard" outside where you can eat and drink! And then inside is pretty spacious with lots of seating. They got lots of drink selection including kombucha, hard tea, beers, and more. They even serve pizza, which they haven't had before. I truly love their drinks (never been disappointed with the drinks I've gotten, which are the kombucha and hard teas) and even their food is great! The food came out pretty fast and the bartender was able to provide drinks (and some free samples to try out). They also got some events going on, which includes board games, yoga, and more! I definitely want to try visiting here more often as their drinks are so good and the activities sound fun to check out. It's such a great spot for families and kids. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, and they do a great job hosting events that make it feel like more than just a place to grab food or drinks. Everything we've tried has been delicious, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. That said, the live music has been consistently very loud, to the point where you can't really have a conversation with the people you're there with. It also feels a bit overwhelming with how loud it is. We've found ourselves leaving earlier than planned a few times because of it. Like why does it need to be that loud!? It would also be nice to see a bit more shaded seating beyond the benches, especially on warmer days. It does have a wonderful nice breeze though! read more

I've never encountered such an unprofessional and rude interaction at a restaurant. I ordered a single pepperoni pizza, but when I went to pick it up, there was an additional pizza I hadn't ordered. I pointed this out, and three staff members in the kitchen told me I could just take it, even though I made it clear I didn't need or want it. Since it would have gone to waste, we gave it to friends who were waiting for their order--we didn't eat any of it ourselves, as it was just my two kids and me and one pizza was more than enough. When I received the bill, the extra pizza had been added. I calmly explained the situation and what the kitchen staff had told me. The waitress responded by offering only 20% off the additional pizza and then questioned me in a confrontational tone, implying we had eaten it. Rather than acknowledging the miscommunication, she acted as though the partial discount was a generous favor. I expressed my frustration, as we neither ordered nor wanted the extra pizza, but she insisted she couldn't remove it due to "new ownership" and maintained that the discount was sufficient. Left with little choice, I paid the reduced charge but did not leave a tip due to how poorly the situation was handled. To make matters worse, our friends later overheard the waitress discussing the incident with other customers in a negative and unprofessional way, as if we were at fault. I'm someone who typically tips generously and understands the challenges of the service industry, but this experience was unacceptable. We've visited before without issue, but unfortunately, this interaction has ensured we won't be returning. read more

I only recently visited local roots in the last few months after passing by the area so frequently. I wish I had gone sooner! It's such fun place with a great vibe. They have live music and regular events and it's family friendly which is great. There is room for kids to spread out and everyone have a good time. They have a great selection of hard kombuchas and non alcoholic ones as well and even offer beer, wine and sodas. My kids especially love the Shirley temples! I had seen a review about them discouraging families to be there but that has not at all been my experience visiting here several times. If you're looking for somewhere insanely quiet for baby to sleep or something, probably not the place to go. But otherwise it's fun and upbeat welcoming families. Adding to the greatness, they have food that's actually good! Not just small bites, but full on pizzas, nachos and salads that are delicious! Came here for the Bonsai Bar class and it was such a beautiful setting. Although it's a bar I saw families and dogs here. The atmosphere is very chill and so SoCal. Came for ST. Pattys day! and it was a blast. They had live music and a food trucks selling Mexican food. We signed up for the beer pong tournament! it was only $5 a person to enter so why not! Local Roots was awesome. I loved the ambiance with all the greenery but also a modern feel inside. There was something for everyone (pool table, arcade games, grassy area for the kids to run around outside, kombucha, wine, pizza, live music). The pizza was good but it was sooo cold the night we visited that it got cold within a few mins. We tried the spicy pepperoni and the ricotta and spinach. We also had the Caesar salad which was pretty basic but a good portion to share. I wish they let us do half/half pies bc we ended up you way too much food. They were having a small wedding reception on the patio so all the heat lamps were taken but it's probably great on a normal night. The hard kamboocha was also pretty good. The waitress didn't mention that they had sampler flights when I asked about the different flavors so I had no idea it was an option, but I'd love to try a sampler next time. You will find a pool table and foosball inside which is always a fun time. Outside, there are 2 fire pits and hackeysack to play! Dogs are also welcome. Food is pretty good, but a tad expensive in my opinion. The drinks are great! :) Service is also wonderful there. The employees are always kind and helpful. There are always such enjoyable events here too. Today, (a Thursday evening), it was bingo night! The manager (Greg, who seems like such a great guy!) seems to run the events. First timers here, visiting from NorCal. I approached the parking lot and saw an inviting fire pit and aesthetic space planning of furniture. The initial vibe was fun, laid back energy, and a place you wanna hang out for a while. Michelle at bar greeted us with the best smile and educated us on their different drinks. I opted for a flight of their hard kombuchas and none of them disappointed! The pizzas smelled amazing so we had to try their meatball pizza and the spinach truffle pizza. Kudos to the pizza chef! The spinach truffle with ricotta and the perfect sprinkle of seasoned salt was appreciated. The crust was soft and pillowy and amazing. The meatball marinara pizza was delicious as well but the truffle pizza left an impression I couldn't erase. Will definitely come back next time we're in Vista! read more

Love this awesome hard kombucha tasting room (they have non-alc too!). There is plenty of seating and space for families and dogs (so many dogs!) and they have live music on weekends. They have an awesome vegan food window whose food really complements the booch. I think they also have a vegan food truck pop-up at various times...we missed the last one and I was sad! Definitely order a flight so you can taste all the different fun and interesting flavors before committing to a full glass. My current faves are lavender lemonade (or whatever spin they have on that right now) and limoncello, which has a refreshing lemon and vanilla vibe. There are also hard teas and a few other varieties depending on the rotation and season. You can take cases (and growlers I believe) to-go from the refrigerated case next to the bar. BYO food also seems to be totally acceptable, as we saw a huge party bringing a literal potluck to the place as the sun was going down. Snag a spot by the fire pit and cozy up with some friends and a delicious glass of booch at one of the best places to hang in Vista. We are lucky to have some pretty fine kombucha breweries in San Diego and this one has the best space and variety of flavors to enjoy. read more

However, we met some friends and family here recently, and I found that their beer menu includes a few solid IPAs and other treats, which was a welcome surprise. Excellent choices of beverage here. Love the new expanded layout. They have a pool table, foozball table and just added a dart board , but you need to bring your own darts , that way they know you are experienced. Metal tip darts are no joke. This establishment doesn't know their clientele. If you go at any given time, it's full of families with young children and dogs, which is fantastic there is a place that has space for families. Which I get is not for everyone. And they make it clear that they are trying to discourage the families from coming in an effort to have more adult party types. Despite all the families and dogs- they CRANK the music and attempt a club vibe at a 5pm on a Saturday. It's so loud that you leave with your ears ringing like you've just left a concert which is so unnecessary for what the space offers. If you point that out to them, they seem pretty set on we want this loud music party vibe and don't come here if you feel otherwise. So if you are looking for a club vibe in a local booch place early on a weekend you'll love this place.
