So let me just say their homemade ranch is PHENOMENAL!! My brother found this spot and I was blown away by that ranch. Im a ranch girlie, and this one has some flavor that makes me soo happy! Went here, cause I was recommended by my neighbor. The location is in a Very unassuming strip mall area of Escondido. Not really much room to eat inside the restaurant, but there is a patio on the left side of the building however, it is extremely sunny and not great for rainy days if that occurs. My husband and I ordered the chipotle burger and a burger with the garlic aïoli, chipotle fries, chocolate shake, and strawberry lemonade. First off the chipotle fries with bacon is incredible. I didn't expect much from it, but actually, it was the favorite. The chipotle burger was good, but the garlic aïoli was very strong raw garlic flavor which if you're not a fan of you may not like. Overall, the burger was great, but without the extra garlic aïoli sauce that I got on the side, it would've been pretty dry honestly. The chocolate shake was good, but it took them a long time to make it because they make it from scratch you could say with a malt machine. I would personally skip on the strawberry lemonade next time, though it wasn't really that good. Not sure if I would really come back, but it is a solid Smash burger spot. Farm to Smash is very good. Of all the burger spots I've been to around San Diego, it ranks pretty high. And while my own experience here didn't match the heights of some other reviewers I've seen, I do want to come back and eat again, try their other offerings and see if any minor issues I had were one offs. I had The Rodeo, their version of a bacon cheeseburger. The patty itself was flavorful, well seasoned, but I did not get as much crispiness as I had expected from the smash. It was still juicy and good, just missing the chewy edges to the meat. And while the bacon and pickles gave it a great amount of heft, the sauce heightening the flavor with a good amount of sweet and a bit of tang, I felt that overall, it needed a bit more to put it over the top. A very good burger, just not brilliant. My son had the Flamin' Smash, which he was able to polish off about half of before the heat became too much. Talking as someone who can handle a good amount of heat, it was very tolerable, but even I could feel it by the end as I finished it. Still, my primary issue with this burger were the jalapeño; cut and served raw, they were a bit bitter. I think they would have been better if they were either pickled or fried. He also had a Chocolate Shake, which I'm sure he wished he had saved more of before his burger hit the table. And between us, we split a small serving of the Loaded Fries. The fries themselves were delicious, crispy and salty, with a great underlying flavor from the tallow. However, they were absolutely drenched in the Original Sauce we ordered them in. Where it should have been a healthy drizzle on top, it was instead a goopy puddle that completely dominated every bite of our side. And it was a bit overpowering. Again, Farm to Smash is very good. They've got great flavors, seem to have a nice range of ingredients, and have a good technique to their cooking. I'm just personally not a huge fan of the combinations I've tried. If and when I come back out here, I would think/suggest that one should order a plain cheeseburger with a side of their sauce to appreciate their beef and cooking. And then chase it up with a BYO Bacon Cheeseburger with the full lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions, and a light smear of the original sauce. Do that, and I'm pretty sure anyone would walk away a very happy diner. read more

The burgers were good, juicy with crispy edges true to a smash burger style burger. The lemonade was so good, probably one of our favs we have ever had. We were disappointed with the garlic fries. While we love garlic, our fries were so soggy and saturated in oil. I feel like getting regular fries would have been better as the soggy fries kind of affected how I felt about the meal overall. The fries are good- not amazing but tasty. I did order some regular fries once and they gave me garlic fries which were VERY garlicky so if you love garlic- order those! The place is quite small, there's some seating inside that is a tall bench type of seating but they opened up a side patio, which is next to the pizza place next door. I finally got to try this smash burger place in the area! I was looking through Yelp & noticed that there's many different burger places in Escondido, which is awesome. What sets Farm to Smash apart from other burger places is their seed oil free promise, house-made avocado oil, and premium blend of chuck roll and brisket ground daily in the kitchen. The inside of the restaurant is a bit small so it only has some booth-style seating along the wall and we must've came around lunch time because there were no seats available. We just decided to take it to-go, so with that I ordered the Double Patty Garlic Mushroom burger and my husband ordered the Double Patty Flamin' Smash with large loaded fries to share (we chose chipotle as the sauce). Service was quick & easy and the gentleman helping us was really patient with it being our first time. I'm a huuuuge fan of the Garlic Mushroom burger and the loaded fries! The garlic spread was super yummy and kind of reminded me of a tzatziki sauce for burgers. The burger patty was perfectly cooked and I loved the juiciness of it. I am a sucker for smash burgers and will travel well outside my normal boundaries to try one. When my local smash burger place wasn't available, I checked this place out. See that line out the door? That's partly because the restaurant is very small and partly because this place is very popular right now. Don't worry. The line moves quickly but the food does take a while to come out. It is cooked to order so be patient. There is only counter seating inside, and it is of the type where you stare at a wall. There are also a couple of tables outside the front door. Parking is freeee in the lot. The smash burgers here are VERY smashed and thus, very thin, so, you might consider getting a double burger to get a more substantial meal. While the edges (or lace) of these burgers are wonderfully crispy, I actually think the burgers themselves are too thin and lose some of their meaty goodness as a result. The buns are nice and the ingredients (onions, jalopenos, bacon, etc.) are all very fresh tasting. The fries, while very fresh, didn't do it for me. They are thick steak fries, which isn't my jam, and they were barely seasoned. I just prefer skinnier and crispier fries, with more seasoning, of course. Although we didn't know the fries wouldn't be well seasoned, we fortunatley purchased a side of their housemade ranch dressing ($1.75 for a small cup, ouch), and it was delicious. It isn't as tangy as the ranch dressing you get at the store which isn't necessarily a bad thing. This one is made with dill and it is very different and nice.
