Left: Mushroom and Swiss right: Pesto.

This place is a true gem. Don't let its unassuming front fool you, these guys make burgers very well. This is my second time in and both times I'd rate the burger an honest 9/10. The only draw back I have to this place is their menu has so many appealing options that I have a hard time deciding on what to order. So in true indecisive fashion I ordered myself two: the mushroom and Swiss and the pesto burger. Which the staff were nice enough to slice in half for me so I could try them both at the same time. It was decadent, perfectly cooked, cheesy, delicious, and something new and exciting. The shop itself is a modest one, clean, but nothing fancy. Has fun decor all over. I hope these guys pop off because I'd love for this place to stick around.

We entered the building and we were not greeted we were just stared at from the back exit by the bald worker that looked like the picture below Overall the food was good, but the service sucked.

Classic burger and Fries. The special sauce for the fryers is .50c but worth trying!

Who doesn't love a burger!!?? Want a hamburger meal that will fill you up and is very tasty, here's a winner! Inside Vons shopping center. Nice menu and cutely decorated with large sized burger pictures on the wall off their menu. Service was excellent and the young lady behind the counter answered questions for us first timers. She was busy cleaning equipment and front counter- which was nice to see. We will be back Brgr Shack!

Updated review: Me and my husband come back here so often!! This is probably our 4th visit back now. I'm really glad the staff has read my review because after my first initial review of the fries, they decided to cook the potatoes a little longer and they stayed extremely crispy even when we got home from doing a pick up order! We decided to try different burgers during this time and got the normal fries to see if there would be a difference. There definitely was, so I really appreciate it!! The fries were so perfect. We come back to try different loaded fries every time. The 3rd visit we got the Flaming Hot Chkn Fries. Oooo my gosh, the garlic sauce was so good and the fries stayed so crispy despite all the toppings; but the spiciness is not to be messed with. The Serrano peppers were so spicy but gave the flavor of the fries such a great taste with the sun-dried tomatoes! We also tried the Chkn Loaded Fries & I actually liked that one the most. It's just simple, and the cheese & the fried chicken were so good on the fries! Sort of felt like fry nachos. The mushroom & Swiss brgr is also fire! Don't skip out on this place.

BB and i tried this place out a couple of weeks ago. We both had classic burgers with fries. I ordered a side of their garlic sauce, and a side of their cheese sauce. The burgers were delicious. Smash burger style with two patties, not overcooked (medium), cheese, vegetables, mustard and ketchup. Buns were toasted nicely. Their fries are more like crisscut potatoes but were good as well. I liked the garlic sauce; however, the cheese sauce was served refrigerator cold, which I did not like. The inside is quite small, there is only about 4 tables. Would probably come back again to try some of their other items.

I had the shack burger added mushrooms and fries Burger was good! The fries were so salty. Over seasoned could not taste nothing but seasoning And Tajin Has to throw the rest out since it was so salty It's like they kept adding the seasoning with out checking? I will be back for the burger, but definitely not the fries to going to ask with no seasoning My mouth is still burning from seasonings As for the employees well I say three stars I even told him it was my first time I definitely got no explanation of no sauce no nothing just got a bunch of ketchup and the food in the Vons back I hope it was not a recycled bag and it was new.

Located in the Von's shopping center. I forgot how I heard about this spot but as soon as I heard "smashburger style", I went. Simple menu consisting of burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries & more. Customer service was friendly. Classic Brgr: I ordered this to go so I was sad when I opened my meal at home. The bun was extremely burnt, both sides. & the patty was crispy & dry.

This is my first time at this place, so far the ambient is good, the place is small with 8 tables enough room it's nice, the service is great , clean , my wife got the Classic BRGR and I got the FLAMING HOT BRGR. Great flavor, fresh, good size!

    Delicious!

Came here because I saw it driving through the parking lot. Im glad I stumbled upon this place!! This is a small business, so please go support! The man behind the counter was so friendly and was so happy to help me, even before closing for the night. He had a great attitude, and the food was delicious and made fresh! I ordered a Buger and fries and they tasted so good! Highly recommend this place!! :)

Man, we really wanted to love this place! I was craving a burger after a long work day and a workout, and Brgr Shack has been on our list for a couple of months now. The cashier was friendly and it wasn't crowded. The food took a little while, but we were happy to wait. Everything looked amazing upon arrival, but to our dismay, the burgers were SO SALTY! My partner even said, "you know it's too salty when I notice, because I love salt!" I wonder if some cooks over season and some under season, because I see other reviews for "salty" OR "bland." I think we would've preferred bland, it was THAT salty. Like mouth-puckeringly, eye-twitchingly salty, somehow. The ingredients on the burgers were tasty, though. Perfectly caramelized onions, for example. The fries were pretty good, although the ranch I requested was not so good. Tasted just like cheap bottled ranch. The Maple Sriracha sandwich sounded great, and looked great, but the flavors felt disjointed. It was moderately better once we removed most of the large mound of coleslaw on it, but we were hoping to taste more "maple." The ambience felt kinda sterile, too. I don't think we'll be back, unfortunately.

Hidden gem in East Escondido! We're so glad you are here, BRGR Shack! We tried the Classic Burger, Pesto Burger, Chicken Tenders (2 piece), Regular Fries and Loaded Fries (without the meat). Everything was super flavorful. I loved how their fries are cut (rounds / ovals crinkle cut) and seasoned. Everything tastes fresh, homemade and gourmet at the same time - without the gourmet pricing. The burgers come with 2 smashed patties that are perfectly crispy around the edges and juicy in the middle. We threw on an order of the 2 piece chicken tenders to try their chicken and were shocked at how big the pieces were. I was expecting 2 tiny strips of chicken, and it looked like we got 2 chicken breasts. They were peppery and crispy on the outside, and warm and moist on the inside. Everyone loved it. The owner was super friendly, nice and was ready to make recommendations to us as we were deciding what to order. They must be pretty new still, because they are still setting up the different fountain drink machines. I'm excited to see what the future holds for them - we'll be back for sure!

We were in Escondido and craving a real burger, so we decided to check out Brgr Shack. We are so happy we did! Brgr Shack is located in the Vons shopping center, so there's plenty of parking (always a plus). The menu is simple, but good. Order at the counter, pay, fill your cup/drink, and take a seat. The food will be out shortly, it's made to order. Upon entry, we were greeted and an employee offered recommendations based on our preferences. I ordered the Shack Junior (one beef patty, pickles, cheese, ketchup). The burger was made fresh and full of flavor. The ingredients were great quality and super fresh. The meat was tender and juicy. My friend ordered the Pesto Brgr (double beef patty, balsamic onions, arugula, tomatoes, blue cheese, pesto aioli). The Pesto Brgr was very flavorful. The combination of blue cheese and pesto aioli was quiet surprising. I plan to order this burger next visit. The fries are thin potato slices with great seasoning. The fries were crisp and resembled the appearance of a potato chip. Great texture and taste. The menu also includes different types of chicken sandwiches and apps (loaded fries, tenders). If you are in Escondido, swing by for a good burger and fries, you'll thank me later.

Serving up delicious smash burgers for a great price. I've stuck with the classic so far and quality has been consistent. If you're craving a cheesy well made smash burger that's quite big, this is your spot. Fries have been pretty decent. They have a lot of drink options as well.

I grew up eating Balkan…read morefood and my first bite of the cevap (minced meat sausage but there is no casing; just the meat hand-formed and grilled) tasted like "the olden days" and tears started flowing because of the happy memories and flavors it brought back. Bosko and his family own, operate, and create the menu at this restaurant and they are friendly and welcoming and passionate about the food and service they offer, and it felt like coming home. The Food: I had the Mixed Plate, which comes with grilled minced meat sausage, grilled pork shoulder and a side of coleslaw (prepared the Balkan way with oil and vinegar). I chose the Balkan toppings, so the meat was served on a naan type bread topped with the Balkan toppings which consists of white onions, kajmak (feta cheese/cream/butter spread), diced bell peppers, and ajvar (bell pepper and eggplant spread). The sausage is perfectly seasoned, the pork shoulder tender. A friend and I also shared a half-order of Balkan Fries with sausage topped with Balkan toppings. The combination of the fries, sausage and toppings is a tantalizing, mouth-watering marriage of flavors. Bosko brought a sample of the chicken since we hadn't ordered it and it was full of flavor and oh so tender. If you've never had Balkan food, you are in for a very delicious treat. The first time you eat here, I suggest you get the Mixed Plate with Balkan Toppings. Ask them to add a side of chicken to your plate so you can sample that too. I think you'll find you've died and gone to Balkan heaven. If you want to know what every person of Balkan heritage grew up eating, this is what we were eating. The Drink: They offer a good variety of beers on tap, both local brews and name-brand. Soft drinks and iced tea are self-serve. Nice. The Ambiance: The restaurant is located in an older, tiny little shopping mall almost at the end of East Valley Parkway. Bosko's father bought the building back in the 70s so this is a location that is near and dear to Bosko's heart. As you first walk up to the restaurant, the first thing you notice is the wonderful smell of the smoker filling the air with the unmistakable scent of good-meat-things-happening. Taste buds, get ready for a grand ride. There are picnic tables outside but it was a warm day and we wanted to sit inside. Inside you are greeted with a clean, open and welcoming space, newly decorated with bright white tile in the kitchen and service area, and rustic wood boards on the wall. Seating is at either picnic-style tables or taller tables with stools. Two TV sets were airing sports programs, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. The ceiling features open duct work that's shiny and new and there's corrugated metal sheet on the bottom half of the walls, which all together makes the place feel fresh and warm and comfortable. The menu is easy to read and straight-forward. While we were there, a softball team was hosting their end-of-year party. The place was full to the rafters but we never felt like it was too many people or too loud. Value: The prices are extremely reasonable. Let's just say my eyeballs didn't pop out of their sockets like they do at some restaurants. Everyone in my party was pleased with the portion sizes, and we all felt like we got more than what we paid for in terms of the quality of the food and the taste of the food. Catering: Bosko was telling us a little about how he came around to opening the restaurant and we learned that before this he did catering, serving whole roasted pig, lamb, sausages. He shared that they are going to cater for an event that will have 1,200 people!! The softball team I mentioned in "The Ambiance" section had their food catered in-house by Bosko. They had hero sandwiches which looked fresh and delicious and fully loaded with deli ham, turkey and toppings. These were served with fries and a green salad. Old World Meat Co also caters the traditional Balkan foods they serve at the restaurant, which would make any party a hit with guests. Bosko is passionate about his food and culture and is eager to share it with people, so if you have a party coming up, give Bosko a call and see what he can do for you. Take Some Home: You can purchase a package of frozen sausages to take home with you. I forgot to ask if they come pre-cooked or if you grill them yourself. But either way, they would be a great addition to any meal you serve at home. Final Thoughts: Do yourself a favor. Come and partake of this oh so delicious food and I think you will find yourself wanting to come back again and again. The food. The ambiance. The value. The nicest people you'll ever meet. Old World Meat Company is the whole package. A five-star experience for sure.

They serve a fair variety of sandwiches and other little items to buy such as coffee and cookies. The location is small with about a total of 5 seating areas including both inside, and out. For service they're all very friendly since it's primarily the family owners who serve you. You go up to the front and place your order and they'll bring the food you order to your table, they do close early since this is a breakfast spot first and foremost, so expect to arrive early if you want to eat here. I usually order The Works in a half since a full size sandwich is well over $20, excluding any additions or substitutions you may make. The sandwich does taste really good, but it does come at a steep price. They've grown in popularity over the years, which may have influenced their pricing (by a lot) which in my opinion does outweigh it's value. While I do enjoy my infrequent visits, I can say this location is more of an occasional treat, as opposed to a constant meal to be had often.

We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Ambiance (4/5): My type of restaurant. Casual with some charm. We sat at a table across from the bar. They have some cool decor, too. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no.
