This is the go-to place for when my family and I are craving to eat different types of Asian food. There is valet parking next to the restaurant and plenty of seats. It can get busy during peak dinner hours, when we usually come so it can be hard to get the attention of the waiters/waitresses then. The meal comes with free salad and kimchi. We like ordering the set meals with a tofu soup and ribs or bulgogi -- sometimes it's a fish (there are several options to choose from). We also like the soy garlic chicken, which can come with or without bones(better with bones) and the pork gyoza, which isn't as good as the ones in Japanese restaurants in lower Manhattan of course, but is better than other ones you usually find in the less authentic Japanese restaurants in Queens. read more

Generally I feel like korean restaurants are overpriced but this place has some really good deals, from what I read in their advertisements, they also serve ramen and phò (I wouldn't chance it here though....). The restaurant has lovely high ceilings, ample spacing between tables giving it a very breathable and relaxed atmosphere while dining, very attentive and quick staffs, clean, nice restrooms, snazzy huge flatscreen TVs (korean news on one, western entertainment on the other) valet parking, good wait times for food and decent background music, great menu selections....especially the combination deals!!!! We had our baby and they hooked us up with a high chair before we even requested, so the restaurant is family-friendly (though it would be difficult if you plan on bringing a stroller in). We ordered 2 of the combination deals ($25 grilled mackerel and dolsot bibimbab, also the $22 stir fried squid and hot seafood tofu stew) which were great value. So the food.....Firstly, I need to say that mackerel was all kinds of awesome, I love seafood when its done basic. Perfectly grilled so the meat was still succulent and juicy, well seasoned and that hit of lemon juice was absolutely divine! The dolsot bibimbab was standard but what surprised me was that they served us a full-sized dish with the combo. The squid basically tasted like store-bought frozen squid with some peppers smothered in gochujang, not great at all especially since the squid wasn't properly tenderised. The seafood in the seafood soup wasn't fresh, tofu should have been diced and not left as slabs, the seasoning was off and it badly needed some TLC. The side dishes weren't the small servings and wide variety you get at other Korean eateries, there were probably like 3 or 4 and half of them were basically lettuce leaves. Even though it sounds like 50% of our experience was sensational, I have great faith that if we had chosen different items for the $22 combo we would have been completely satisfied. Oh also, looking around while waiting for the food, this place doesn't do the individual table self-korean bbq if that's what you're after. Final words....DO THE MACKEREL!! Today we decided to try some place new and we headed to Tang, and I am happy to be able to write that we were all delighted with the choice. Before I get into the nitty gritty details I should state up front that unlike most restaurants that specialize in one style of cuisine, this place has three different cuisines available, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. I think that they have more Korean and Japanese options than they do of Chinese food. I will add that at first it is a little overwhelming to look through the menus and decide what to eat as there is so much to choose from. I ordered Grilled Pork steak off their Korean menu and I actually cannot described how truly delicious it was. It came in two different sizes and since there were 3 of us and we were sharing, I opted for the larger size and I am so glad I did. It completely disappeared. I also ordered the mung bean pancakes. For those of you who do not know what mung beans are they are what they make cellophane noodles from. They were very good as well. My friend ordered items off the Japanese menu. She ordered a double shrimp sushi roll with avocado with the spicy sauce on the side. My Mom and friend shared this dish. My friend like it more than my Mom. She also ordered gyoza dumplings that contains pork and chives. I tried one and decided I had enough. My Mom did not care for them either. The seafood pancake was not the greatest because it had this raw doughy taste. We noticed that they do not serve small dishes like the other typical Korean restaurants. We only got the house salad with the ginger dressing. *Disappointed* The service was decent, but took them quite some time to attend to our needs. There is a service bell available, but they did not like it when we pressed on it. Then what is the point of the bell? *Confused* This restaurant is pricey with smaller portions. Food is mediocre. This is such a go-to restaurant if you live in the northern/flushing area. They have so many menu items that any craving for Asian food you have, they probably have it on the menu. I always get their kimchi jjigae and kalbi off the combo menu. I don't know how they do such a variety and also run 24/7! It's always consistently good and food comes out super fast. The Pork chashu are tough and start to get stuck between your teeth when you attempt to try to bite into it. I was passing by on Northern Boulevard and a picture of tonkotsu ramen - an obsession of mine - caught my attention outside Tang. With an anniversary coming up, I thought I could use that as an excuse to come in and try it out. And since "Tang" is a nickname of mine, I was delusional to think they were calling me to come in. The Place: We came in at around 9 PM during a pandemic that was seemingly approaching its end. It wasn't too crowded. The dining area is mostly open space with two or three tvs up with some sports or Korean music videos. I felt comfortable; pretty laidback atmosphere. There's a bar in another room, but it was closed during our visit (that and the sushi bar). Zero complaints on cleanliness. 5/5. The Food: Of course, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen to satisfy my craving, and also shrimp tempura as a kind of appetizer. The food looked good with a quality feel to them. However, the hype that had been built up in my mind was let down - but only a little - when I realized the ramen wasn't as rich and flavorful as I was hoping it to be. The broth was light and the pork slices were bland. The shrimp tempura was also bland - too bland - but it had great texture and it was salvaged by its accompanying rich tartar sauce. All in all, however, the food was good quality, but salt is needed to elevate the taste. 3.5/5. The People: Friendly smiles when we entered and when we exited. The waiter who attended to us was serviceable, but I had some difficulty understanding him and his accent. 3.5/5. My overall experience at Tang was more than okay: it was good. Solid. The place is cool, the food is good, and the people are amiable. A solid four stars. I do recommend them and I do see myself coming back, possibly really soon. Great service. Waiters and waitresses came from all different directions with banchans as soon as our order were taken. Love that they serve super fresh kimchi / kimchi radish, salad, and some other veg. Atmosphere and ambiance was amazing and lively. -1 star for the Tuna Tataki. It came very sloppy and not as shown on the menu. The tuna was not seared perfectly. The best dish was the sashimi box. It has been so long since I've had raw fish that fresh! They made some interesting changes to this restaurant while I haven't visited. There is now a sushi bar where they used to have the dedicated jeon (pancakes) grill. My family loves grabbing a bowl of seolleongtang from Tang and we've been here at wee hours of the morning and past midnight among the drunk crowd. At this particular visit, we went for dinner and was surprised that the place was so packed, we were seated in the annex. I used to head straight to Gammioak in KTown after getting off the bus from college to pretty much just eat some of their kimchi. And Tang is from the same chain of restaurants so I looked forward to their kimchi. It has gone a little less spicy and salty from the past, but the same crunchy sour taste draws me in. The salad that they serve is also on point. Our table shared bossam platter, which came on its own portable burner with some new pineapple sauce concoction that was pretty good. Instead of the usual seolleongtang, I ordered the soondae soup (blood sausages and pork soup). It's a risky dish because it is pork-based and you do have to make sure that you get rid of the gaminess of the pork. It tasted really good. The pork was not overly cooked and they didn't add an extreme amount of ground perilla seed powder, which is what happens with some soondae soup in order to mask the pork flavor. I did feel that the soup was served a little too hot because the blood sausages hardened quite a bit and it took a while for me to cool it down to a palatable level. Tang really nails it in terms of making such a low scale food seem fit for an upscale restaurant. Their service is good and they add a lot of care in making the atmosphere feel upscale. People who are used to eating these soups in Korea might balk at the prices but it's really not bad at all compared to other places in the area. I do think they charge a lot for the jeons and other types of entrée but the soups are a solid choice for any time of the day. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed food and experience after I told them no when they wanted to put us in the " auxiliary" room. I was able to make a reservation for lunch the day before. When we walked in and gave my name the host crossed off our name from a pad on his desk. The main dining room was busy but there were plenty of chairs so when he handed the waitress our menus and asked us to follow her in the "other" room, I said "no" I want the main dining room. Glad they were ok with that. Our Waitress was friendly and the servers brought us water and tea throughout our dining experience. I had read reviews that Yelpers had better service in the main dining room. We had a great experience. My friend who doesn't eat many "different" types of cuisine went with Shrimp Tempura. It was one of the nicest presentations I've ever seen and she said it was good but that the dipping sauce was weak. She asked for soy. I wouldn't go to a Korean restaurant and not get Korean food but she was going along for the "ride" so to speak. I appreciate her coming. My daughter and I had the Step 2. I opted for the short ribs and mushroom tofu soup. I'm a bit of a whimp with very spicy food so glad I selected what I did. My meal was delicious and I was amazied during the entire meal that the food temp stayed hot because of the great vessels they were served in. My adult daughter had the 2 Step Chilean Sea bass and hot spicy soup. Sea bass was very tasty but you had to be careful with the bones. For $20 you get the two meals, rice, nappa cabbage leaves and two sauces. I missed the pickled vegetables and Perilla leaves. We will be back for certain. It's two dinning areas, the main and the narrow on to the right where we dined. High ceiling with exposed brick wall (not sure real or fake) is nice but it's pretty cold. It's a Tuesday evening. The around-the-clock restaurateur is full. The waiting staff is so busy that they would walking by, while still moving, asks if we're doing fine or need anything. Pros: - Large...and I mean LARGE variety of food (traditional Korean food, sushi, ramen, curry, etc.) - Service is pretty good! The waiters/waitresses are always attentive and I usually get seated the moment I come in - Food is quick to arrive Cons: - I noticed a consistency in BLAND flavors... I'm always excited to try new things but every time the flavor is bland and the food is just not satisfying - Jokbal was terrible...the meat is stale. 2nd time around. I was in the neighborhood so decided to try something different from here. We had the Deonjang Jjigae, gob chang Jjigae and soy garlic chicken takeout. The Jjigaes were spicy but not "gotta grab the fire extinguisher because my mouth is on fire" spicy. I found it bland if you get past the spicy. It came out quickly. The best was the chicken. I thought it would be a little soggy because it was covered with parchment. It was still crispy. It was tender, moist and tasted great. Slight hint of garlic. Okay so real talk: I am typically pretty skeptical of a Korean restaurant that in addition to Korean food items, adds Vietnamese pho dishes, and Japanese ramen dishes+sushi. The decor is modern with spacious seating and a chill atmosphere. They have multiple large TV throughout the restaurant and I remember being there during FIFA and it was lit. The I would usually get their combo meal, which has a great selection and large portions. Their tofu and kimichi dishes are pretty good. The seafood pancake is a bit too doughy so I would skip it. Great deal for the 2 for $20 combo. You get a meat dish paired with a bibimbap or tofu stew. We tried the bulgogi with seafood tofu stew and the pork jowl with beef tofu stew. Comes eith either white or brown rice. Bulgogi: good portion and ok flavor with their marinate Seafood stew: came with a shrimp, clams and the spice was just right for my dad that can't eat too spicy foods Pork jowl: nicely cooked but it was too fat for us to finish all of it. I ate about two pieces with the fat and ate the rest leaving the huge fat slice uneaten. Beef tofu stew: not spicy enough for me but I didn't mind The tofu stew is bigger than the ones at BCD and the combos are cheaper than BCD as well. Definitely come try this place if you haven't. Tang never disappoints. They are like the Cheesecake Factory of Korean food. Their menu is so vast, it can be overwhelming. They offer so many different Korean foods, varieties, and combos, it can be intimidating. I tend to stick to the Korean staples and found that you can never go wrong at Tang. My all-time favorite go-to is the seafood tofu soup combo with galbi. My new favorite is the Branzini whole fish which we made into a combo with a tofu soup also. Can I just say WOWWW. The fish is so delicious, and for the whole fish that is perfectly grilled and seasoned, it is such a great deal. It's always comforting to have a meal here. I just wish they would give a larger variety of banchan. They just give salad with ginger sauce and kimchi, which is tasty but I always love my banchan staples. This place has the most absurdly large menu of any Asian restaurant I ever been to in my life. It's like the Cheesecake factory. Only more absurd. This restaurant *literally* has two separate, both large, menus. They have an absurd variety of korean food, a japanese menu, they strangely also offer thai curry, and a vietnamese pho selection. The atmosphere is huge and airy. I suspect this place is for large parties, some of whom are picky eaters and want options, I guess? I came with just one person. I personally found the menu size to be absolutely overwhelming. I couldn't decide so I got a sushi plate, really just so I know I wont feel bloated at the end. My friend got bulgogi and loved his meal. My sushi was very decent and fresh tasting albeit a little overpriced for the portion. The meal came with decent kimchi and a salad with an absolutely delicious ginger carrot dressing. Not a bad place, especially for large groups. read more

I've been wanting to journey to Tang for the longest time. And that time has finally come. On the outside, the building itself looked like a building I would pass by. It was not until I stepped in that I saw how absolutely beautiful this place was! The interior was chic, brown, and spacious with plenty of chairs. The food options were just as abundant as the number of chairs. It felt as if they had handed us books the moment I saw how thick the menu was. Prices here aren't cheap! In fact, they're pretty overpriced given the quality. There are no free banchan except for radish. And salad, if you want to count that. The Assorted Pancake ($20) came with a variety of different fried foods: peppers, fish, mushrooms, just to name a few. But nothing was particularly special about it, so I recommend trying the other pancakes instead. The Bossam Deluxe ($35) was tasty but disappointing due to the portion size and appearance. If you look at past photos, the pork pieces were much meatier. Not much of a deluxe anymore, I see. The fancy, homey, and spacious environment stood out to me more than the food. Tang is worth trying out at least once just to take in that gorgeous interior. But unless you live in the area, traveling here just for their food is not worth the hour(or more)-long commute. read more

I have to update my review. I've gone here about a dozen times since my last review and I'm realizing this place actually is not great and will probably never return. THERE IS NO BANCHAN!! Banchan is korean side dishes- almost every korean restaurant has a variety of them free with any order and this place only has kimchi as banchan. There is is a salad and a couple of raw carrots and cabbage to chew on in the beginning but this is not considered banchan. So if you order something you have no side dishes which really ruins the korean meal experience. I also came here with my smaller kids. There was a very violent movie on the big TV display in front (viewable by everyone in the restaurant) - blood and gore. My kids were traumatized! It was lunch time on a day with no school so there were other kids around too- this shouldn't have been on the main TV. I asked them to change it and it literally took 10 minutes for them to change the channel because it was considered low priority- plenty of servers just sitting around doing nothing but hey, this is such a low priority request, it doesn't warrant anyone getting up and doing something about it, right? Also, the person I asked (a female waitress) looked VERY annoyed that I could even ask them to do this. It put a very bad taste in my mouth- I thought it was a very reasonable request since it's a family restaurant. If you want a good combo deal (which I think is the main attraction of this place)- there are other korean restaurants around that not only taste better but serve free side dish varieties (crucial part of korean cuisine) and better service for sure.
