I've been a customer since 2012, even left a 5 star review several years ago. A couple of months ago I went to get my usual spray tan at the Great Hills location. I went in the versa booth and immediately noticed that it was dirty. It didn't appear to have been cleaned from the previous user. When I came out of the room I told the employee that the booth was dirty and had smeared slimy stuff on the walls. She rudely told me that she didn't clean it for me because I came in too close to closing time! So she admitted to putting me in a dirty booth that had not been cleaned between uses. I visited this business a few days before my vacation and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. When I got home, I noticed the bottoms of my feet were completely black, and it took significant effort to remove whatever was on them. I had sores on my feet! My spray tan turned out very uneven, and as someone new to this process, I was surprised to find no instructions provided in the booth. I called to share my concerns and was told a manager would follow up with me, as I urgently needed guidance on how to address the issue with my feet. Unfortunately, I never received a call back, and no one was able to explain why this happened or why my hand ended up so blotchy. read more

The red light beds are definitely a favorite of mine, and everything is always clean. I am from Florida and moved to Austin a bit over a year ago and have experimented with at least 10 tanning salons in Austin before finding Tan Etc and deciding it was my happy place for my depression tanning. Given I have had a monthly membership for almost 6 months now with Tan Etc, I find it hilarious that palm beach tan is still even in business being near this salon. Their beds are nothing compared to Tan Etc (and their prices remind me of capitalist greed rather than a fair price for a product and service). Tan Etc has up to date beds, new bulbs get routinely swapped and maintained, never a wait, a clean environment, and a very friendly family-like staff. The lotions are all reasonably priced and I love that I can grab a quick $3-5 sample pack if I forget my own. I really love this salon and if you take the chance to visit I promise you'll love it the same! There is nothing to complain about, I would personally recommend bringing your water bottle though as they don't yet have any for purchase. Hoping that is an upgrade to be made at some point but in no way a deal breaker :) read more

Maybe you have to try a lot of mediocre spots before finding an excellent one, but this spot is a true gem! They are so clean, very friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. I've never had to wait to get into the bed of my choice, and the equipment is all sparkling clean and well maintained. The ladies are so patient and thorough giving explanations for each of the beds. I have been coming to Tan, Etc. for years to treat various skin issues when they flare up. I used to go to the Far West location (GREAT) and now, I go to the Great Hills location (also GREAT). The rooms are always clean with plenty of air circulation - never hot and stuffy at all. The staff is super knowledgeable and they offer good specials with pricing from time to time. I went to try them out today and I was not impressed with the services or the staff at Palm Beach so I strolled across the parking lot to Tan etc. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and sweet. I've been using this location for almost a year now. I came in as a total newbie to tanning and Stephanie has been nothing but patient with me since that first day. The facility is always clean, and I never have an issue getting a bed (Bed 2 is the best that ever was). I have also never experienced an issue with their billing. They even allow you to freeze your account for up to 6 months which is great. I did this over winter and had no issues with restarting it a couple months ago. I love that the same people are working whenever I go. Stephanie always knows what I need is so friendly every time I see her.
