My usual place is in Cypress, TX near Houston. However, when I visit my son, I visit the the Southpark Meadows location. Unfortunately the last three years that I have been visiting there, their equipment isn't really up to par. The music isn't working in the beds, and it is so hot in there it's uncomfortable to stay for your full 12 minutes. I really wish that management would try to do a little better job and making their customers comfortable as well as a little cleaner. I do however love the location. It's very centrally located, easy to get to and the staff has been nothing but perfect. Their sales on their products is also very very good. read more

Last week, I came in for my evening tan and it was safe to say it was chaotic! I recently moved here from chicago so it was strange to see only one girl working in the evening but HOLY CRAP she held down the store and was amazing with all the customers and issues at hand. When I walked in, the versa spa wasn't working properly, a gentleman at the counter wanted to smell test everything, a lady was enraged over a suspended account, people on the couch, and myself. Morgan who helped everybody and handled each situation with grace and intelligence deserves a promotion! Every time I've been in to tan, I pick her brain and not only is she knowledgeable about the entire store and the beds, lighting etc but she is painfully kind and sweet. The staff is always very friendly, and gives great recommendations for lotions and services depending on what I'm looking for. I really enjoy that they do a flex unlimited plan, and you're not paying a ridiculously over priced rate. The beds are definitely worth it! The staff was very nice. This location Is by far a better location then most palm beach locations I've been to. The manager and a younger gentleman, (who are always working) are very helpful and seem to care about the individual (customer) and what they're looking for in their experience, which is great customer service. I have only done spray tans at this establishment and I am overall pleased with my services. It is very clean, well-kept, everything in the tanning room is always stocked. As far as the spray tan, you get what you pay for. If you want a superior spray tan, I would recommend finding a place where someone sprays you. However, if you get sprayed often like me, I recommend doing palm beach's $60 a month unlimited for the mystic spray bed. Helpful hint: They tack on a initial one-time $20 sign-up fee for monthly, unlimited spray tans. read more

Like this location. Always quick in and out, but $79 a month for diamond sunless, but you'll be charged $6 to do dark in mystic?? What's the difference? I've worked for Planet Tan as an ASM, and we never up-charged for a dark cartridge. So strange. Other than that, great staff, clean and convenient. read more

I signed up for a month of tanning which is one tan every day. However my schedule won't let me tan until after 9 on Thursdays and they close at 8 on fridays so I am forced to miss a day I have paid for since it does not fit the 24 hour rule. They said there was nothing they could do, (no days to add and no coupons for missing those days). 4 days isn't a lot but Being forced not to go is a different story. If there was more help I would have liked it a lot better. But apparently it's my fault my schedule doesn't appease to their schedule and there's nothing left to do. read more

This location is really convenient (in a good shopping center) and the staff is helpful! They have a good selection of beds and I got a great spray tan, the employee really helped me get a color that was perfectly bronzed - not overly orange tan! Absolutely amazing experience, I go in and don't know anything about tanning. I talk to the young man (owners son) and he helped me out so much and answered every question I had while balancing other members coming in. After he explained everything my biggest worry was my tattoos and wanted to keep them safe so he recommended a perfect lotion to help with the tanning and protecting all my artwork. These locations (Southpark Meadows, Brodie Ln, & Circle C) have done better about maintaining the operation of the equipment than they had in the past (at the time of the original review). There are still issues - for example, in the Mystic at Southpark Meadows water dripping from the spray nozzle in the ceiling and the spray foaming at the nozzle (which means the spray is not as effective as what should be spraying me is gathering at the nozzle). But outside of the example above a few other minor things and the wear and tear of the equipment (LOTS of paint chipping, decals missing, etc.) there are fewer issues with coverage/spray tanning. My update is really to point out that the equipment (both, Mystic & Versa) at all of these locations needs replacing. I travel for work and often tan at the Palm Beach Tan locations if there is one or at a competitor if there is not one. And the bottom line is that all of these locations have updated equipment (that don't have the issues mentioned above). Especially offering the VersaPro which includes additional passes if needed, moisturizer, etc. It is about time that some money be invested in upgrading/replacing the old, run-down equipment instead of putting more time, effort, and money into repairs. This might also help selling of memberships because if I were shown one of the pieces of equipment currently being used and I didn't have a membership it is unlikely I would commit to anything. read more

I refuse to go back to this location after being treated like I was less than by 2 employees there. I went back hoping they just had a rough day, but again they were rude and treated me like I didn't belong there. They need to be retrained by someone with manners and that doesn't have themselves on a pedestal. read more

Came in for my first tan, nice place! was very UNDERSTAFFED but Miranda did an amazing job at trying to satisfy everyone including having to take the time to orientate me and my sister to the whole place and all the packages! I've had a membership at Palm Beach for almost a year now. Although I've been to several of their locations, I live closest to this one and therefore frequent it the most. I've never received poor customer service, like many of the other reviews state. The girls that work here always greet me in a friendly manner and make sure they thank you as they leave. I utilized groupon for several other tanning salons before I picked Palm Beach to begin a membership with. And I'm quite happy I did so! My only complaint would be that I'd wish this location would get some nicer platinum level beds, but the diamond bed is awesome! read more

At first I did not have a problem with this salon. It seemed clean and basically well run. In the past week the salon has been shut down with no explanation and no number to call. There is a hand written sign on the door saying there is a problem that the equipment is not working. They will be up and running soon. There is no number to call or no explanation of how long the "equipment" will not be working. This sign has been up for days and no one answers the phone. I am worried they will still charge their clients for the full month even though they have been closed part of it. There is also a small problem with the young girls who are working there. They seem annoyed to take you to a tanning bed because it means they have to end their phone call. I plan on ending my membership in January. read more

The staff is very friendly and there's usually not a wait. However, I got to the store at 735 am today and the door was locked. I called the front desk to see if someone was in the back and no one answered. I called again just now when I got home and still no answer. Frustrating because on the door it says weekday hours are from 7am-11pm so I'm not sure why no one was there. Update** Went in this morning 7/18 at 730am and the girl working locked herself out of the store! Two days within one week the store wasn't open when they were suppose to be. read more

By far the most welcoming location in the area! Came in here a newbie and walked out with all the best tips and tricks, including the best lotion recommendations. It's always nerve racking finding a new place but it felt so welcoming and I will be returning. Their memberships are a great money saver if you go frequently! If I could give no stars I absolutely would. Had an allergic reaction to tanning lotion and when I asked about returning it, I was looked at like I was an idiot. She said she didn't think I could return it then in the same breath tried to sell me something else. Yeah, right. Everybody there hates their job and they have no problem showing you. Horrible customer service. Sent an email to the manager (the website said I'd get a call back within 24 hrs. Surprise! No call back.) They seem to have a high turnover with employees at this tanning salon, which made my five stars go down to two. It's a new person every day and half of the time they're in the back in the break room on their phone anyways. They started slamming me for commission, even though the old staff marked my record to not ask me. They should bring back the old staff who knew what they were doing before they start losing business. Where did that amazing guy manager go anyways? It's never been the same since he left. Clean and friendly. They are good to their members. Usually some sort of reward bonuses or savings, the longer you stay a member. They do try to sell their products when you've earned rewards, but that is their job and your rewards usually make the products less expensive. If you are in need, they are good deals. I've never felt pushed or over sold. I decline and they accept with a friendly smile. I do not feel like I am purchasing a used car when I go in. I would recommend this place. If mistakes are ever made, they fix them ASAP and are always nice and accommodating....even when the mistake is of my own doing. read more

i too have been calling and i went by there and saw the referenced sign. i looked them up online and evidently all the ones in Austin are now closed down. The nearest one is listed in Katy, Tx. i sent customer service an email but have not received a response. I give 4 stars because they did have my membership wrong at first but Christi was very helpful and made getting back to my membership after i had suspended my service a walk in the park. Their diamond membership has to be the way to go, but i do warn if you are doing "cocktail tanning" try for the lightest shade possible or you will be orange in places. It's at a great location, the girls are nice (and not overly pushy), they have a wide selection of beds, PLUS there's 2 different spray tan options (Versa and Mystic)! All at competitive pricing. I've tried LOTS of different tanning salons off & on over the years, and I've tried lot's of options w/ looots of different experiences. Palm Beach is definitely my new (and only) go to salon come every Spring time... Gotta prep for summer, ya know? =) read more

She refuses to come out when you walk in, her greeting is cold and unwelcoming, and she could care less explaining anything to you. I have joined and cancelled in the Southpark Meadows and what I have found is that they continue to take money out of my account, they will skip two months then take it out again. I try to contact via email and am told this is a franchise and they can't help me recoup my money. I have had issues with the girls in this facility not knowing what they are doing and when you cancel they ignore you, when they pull my name up they tell me I owe money for the previous months when I cancelled, I can't seem to get through to anyone with any knowledge about how things should be done. read more

DO NOT TRUST! Illegitimate charges and overdraft fees! I was a member at palm beach for years. I eventually canceled my account because I was starting a new job and becoming a member of a credit union through that job. Therefore, I was stopping my reoccurring payments on my debit card at the time. I went in person to a palm beach location to cancel. I explained that I would be changing banks and would not have any income coming into that specific account and would be moving states. I wanted to fully cancel my account and had no intention of tanning anymore. The girl at the front desk said okay and asked me to sign electronically to cancel my account. I signed and asked if there was anything else I needed to do to stop the payments and she said no. I just opened that account this morning because I am seeing negative amounts (even though I do not use this card). Palm beach has been charging me every month, as if my account is frozen. I am now being hit with monthly charges plus overdraft fees. I am certain that there was no miscommunication. I called the salon. They told me to come back in to cancel AGAIN and to contact corporate (which I have not heard back from yet). I am assuming their representatives take a hit if you cancel with them. I am not sure why else she would have lied to me. If you cancel with Palm Beach, ask for the paperwork and hold onto it. In my opinion, there are other places to tan, it is not worth it. read more

I was here on a Sunday morning when they opened to get a quick spray tan for a last minute beach vacation. I got there literally 2 mins before opening and the door was still locked. The employee working was at the desk but I just kind of hung out on the sidewalk trying not to hover until they opened. I was really excited though! After about 7-8 mins of waiting, I tried the door again and it was open. That was a little annoying that she quietly came and unlocked it without saying anything to me when she had seen me waiting. I started asking questions about what spray tans they had to offer and she just gave me the names of the service. When I asked her the difference between the options she said "they're basically the same". Same price, same effect? Her reply "yeah". She was so unhelpful, so rude, and I won't go back. For a few more dollars, you can go somewhere they actually spray it on with a person and probably wouldn't leave you standing out on the sidewalk. read more
