I tried with this location but now twice they have cancelled on me within 24 hours of my appointment. It's a bit hypocritical to have a cancellation policy when you can't commit to it on your end. I have reached out via email and did receive a cancellation form which I completed immediately after receiving such paperwork. I am continuing to receive charges and have promptly declined all such charges, yet you continue to charge from a different merchant number. He has been working through tissue changes that he noticed along my my spine and I appreciated him sharing this biofeedback information with me after my appointment. He has a very flexible schedule with evening appointments that work for me as a busy working mom of two. The front desk staff person at this location was friendly and helpful. Parking garage at West 5th Street and Pressler Streets was very convenient. The storefront entrance is in very close proximity to the pedestrian walkway and was well lit enough that I felt safe walking back to my car at 9pm on a Friday night. After 15 years of being a member of ME, i was totally embarrassed that i sent someone over to the Pressler Massage Envy in Austin, Tx. First and foremost, this has nothing to do with the masseuse/masseur who was party to the appointment i set up for a friend. I have a monthly membership that accrues 1 credit a month if not used. That being said, I set an appointment for a friend to come off my credits. Massage Envy's front desk personnel did not follow through on the instructions for the appointment, they charged my friend for what was supposed to be on my account. We all make mistakes, but the total lack of accountability and ability to correct the mistake is unacceptable. The front desk employee would not provide contact info for the manager(whom will not be available for 4 days) , or the regional manager. I will moving my membership to a different location that is capable of dealing with customers, and most importantly, customer service. read more

She is not only incredibly knowledgable and thorough about skin care and her craft in general, she also takes time to tailor sessions around my specific concerns and needs. I recently scheduled an appointment for my son who is on his feet all day. I asked for someone who could do a deep massage and concentrate on legs and back as well as do Deep tissue massage. I also asked for extra I called him after the session. He said he wasn't asked to sign a release and the therapist didn't ask about his needs- he basically got a rub down, no deep tissue, no special attention to feet, legs or back. On the email I received asking how they did, I mentioned these issues. I got no response from management. To be fair, they did not charge me for the extra services are requested. However, they didn't respond to the complaint.if they'd reached out these issue, I would have been somewhat satisfied. read more

They even smile at the 51. The 31 gives you the same lovely glare each time, complete with Bon Bons falling out of their mouths when you walk in. Every time I have been taken back by my therapist here, the receptionist wishes me a great massage, at the 31 they wouldn't notice if you were walking to your massage with a screaming baby bouncing out of your ass. When you check out they acknowledge you yet again, at the 31 you're lucky if they give you your credit card back before rolling their eyes at you for having the nerve to go out the only exit door while they are cleaning it. (And apparently saying "sorry, excuse me" isn't good enough either.) So excuse me if I tell you to kiss my black ass 31. I don't give massage envy no stars treat their members like crap they never have available massage appts and always booked and the only appts available are clear across town so you can never use it. Then when they give you an appt they give u the wrong address. Not apologetic and they take your credit. Then when they say they will call u back they never call the member. I feel that I am paying for services not rendered and being completely screwed. I went here and got a massage it was pleasant enough, however I gifted one of my credits to a friend. They incorrectly charged me for it after confirming with my home location at Tech Ridge. My friend said that she tried to call and claim the massage and it apparently got used, called this location back and they could not give me a straight answer as to why the voucher was used but they can't tell me who used it...other than it wasn't me or my friend, or why I got charged $10 and where did my massage credit go. I have since opened a dispute with my credit card company to get my month's massage fee back since no one is returning my calls and I am basically getting the run around. It's geographically convenient and I really like the people here. I've seen a number of different massage therapists here, but he person I like the best is Andrew. He's very professional and focuses on the regions I request. He's a very skilled therapist and I always leave feeling extremely improved. I have enjoyed my recent sessions at Massage Envy. They seem to have experienced therapists and offer different options.

Somebody had recommended a "couples massage" to me as a nice gift for my girlfriend at the time. I called Massage Envy, set up an appointment, and got excited at the thought of the double-pampering. When you check in, they have you fill out some extensive paperwork. (I think it's mostly for first-timers, members might get the express papers) On it, they ask your massage type preference. I wanted some deep tissue work for my chronic back pain, so I check that box. Then we sip some water while we wait for the staff to prepare the room, or whatever they were doing. I see some staff milling about and wonder who will be my masseuse. "Oh, she's cute. Is it bad to have an attractive woman rub you down in the presence of your girlfriend?," I thought.. Probably so. Our names are called. It is time. Lil' Lady gets some young guy, I get a female. Not the one I was hoping for. The Massage Gods have spoken, and they said it's no good for me to have the cute girl in my corner. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate female beauty in all shapes and sizes, but I get the feeling that if this woman did the Asian walking-on-back massage, my eyes would pop out of my skull. Her handshake frightened me.. We go into the room, get prepped, and let them know we're ready for relaxation. I tell her my areas of trouble and she gets to work. I mean workin me over. I'm having second thoughts for requesting 'deep tissue'. No finesse. No smooth transitions. Just wham, bam, flip over man. Meanwhile, I'm trying to listen to the girlfriend's massage. All I can hear is this dude's loud sniffling. I know it's a quiet room, and perhaps he had allergies, but it's not a very sanitary feeling for this germophobe. Especially when he sneezes. I feel bad for my girl and just hope that she's enjoying it. I also hope that Xena the Warrior Therapist gives me a quick ending. Not a 'happy ending.' After our 55 minutes (no extra time given) was up, we put our clothes back on and I have to get out the debit card. Around $100, plus tip, which they have a convenient scale for determining at the front desk.. I felt no better than when I arrived, but the pressure was on to leave more than they deserved. OK, I really tried to give this place a chance. I've been a member for over a year now. And the past few times I've called and scheduled same day massages, the quality has been pretty bad. Today was the last straw. I was in my PMP class all day so I thought I'd schedule a massage to take the edge off and get the knot out of my shoulder. So I called and they only had a guy who could do swedish. No problem. So I show up and in the room the guy asks me what my problem is, and I tell him about my shoulder. He tells me he could do deep tissue instead. So I was like, "oh good!" So then he starts, and I kept waiting for it to kick in, but it never did. After about ten minutes, I realized that he was trying his best to give me a good massage, but there was barely any pressure, and he was massaging my hands...um what? And it didn't feel good. Then he kept telling me to breath deep and pressed on my shoulder, but he was barely pressing! It was like having sex with a guy with a really really small penis. You think "Are we doing it?" and they are into it, and you just can't wait for it to be over. So after about 30 minutes of lying there, and my neck really hurting, I just started to get irritated. And I just wanted it to end. And I didn't know what to do. Should I just wait for it to be over? Or should I just get out of there? I opted for getting the hell out of there. I felt bad because he was nice, but I just couldn't stand it any longer and it was giving me a headache and minor panic attack. So as I was checking out, the woman at the desk asked me how it was. I told her I couldn't even stand to be in there the whole massage. So she passed me to the manager, who was sitting across the desk, and had heard me say this. But she seemed preoccupied with something on her computer screen. When she was free, she took me into a private room to discuss the massage. She told me that he was only qualified to do swedish massage and shouldn't have offered deep tissue. But she said this in a tone as if I was the one in trouble. I said, yes he seemed like he is fresh out of massage school. She said he was. I mentioned that the quality I'd been receiving seemed on par with a massage school internship program. She got defensive at this point and said she thought new grads deserved a chance. I said I thought so too, but that wasn't really what I was paying for nor expecting when I booked massages there. She offered to recommend me to another masseuse. But her tone was more than a degree defensive during the discussion. She didn't seem apologetic or surprised, but more on the defense. So I cancelled my membership. Then she gave me a few days to use my remaining massage which I'd just paid for on auto renew. I said, it's a holiday week, I'll be out of town, so she extended it a couple of weeks. But this is a massage I paid for, so this isn't really doing me a favor. So I don't think that really made up for the bad experience and she didn't seem concerned that I was a long time customer that was making an exit. So I wouldn't recommend going here if you want a decent massage...I have to go shower now. read more

There was a time that I rated Massage Envy highly because of the couple of therapists I consistently booked with. The therapists were great, however the operations/admin department have completely changed my opinion of the business. I cancelled my service in Dec 2020 when they started charging my card again without my knowledge after they stopped services during the pandemic. After a long and obnoxious conversation about it, they reluctantly refunded 3mo of charges ($210) and confirmed that my service was cancelled. I just noticed that they've been charging me again for services since Apr.--4mo of charges ($280). I WAS NEVER CONTACTED. I hope that once they finally get back to me that they'll make it right, but based on my experience I assume I'll have to cancel my credit cards to get my information out of their system for good. I would have likely returned to them as a member if this didn't happen a second time since I usually book at least 1 massage a month, but absolutely not at this point. I'll gladly pay more to a local business that I can trust with my credit card information. Update 7/23: the franchise manager is horridly rude. Customer service is clearly not a priority. Fingers crossed my membership is actually cancelled and I receive my refund. I was told that there was no way to communicate well with the thousands of members they have. What a shame. Update 8/6: 10 days, no refund or communication regarding my refund. I reached out 3 days ago and have not heard back. I've been a member for close to 9 years and for the first time ever I finished my Massage and was told there would now be an extra $30 charge every time since I'm a member at another location. Really? No heads up or discussion? When I asked for further clarification I was told "contact your other location". Ouch. Stellar customer service as always. I was only in town for the weekend, and THAI's interns only work weekdays. Desperate for a low-cost massage, I opted for deep tissue Massage Envy. I have a massage approximately quarterly so I'm accustomed to deep tissue and knew what I was getting myself into. My back muscles felt like they were all fused into one giant bar-- not little knots, but seriously, one mass. I only booked an hour, so the masseuse had a lot to work with. All in all, the experience was ok. I spent most of the hour gritting my teeth and wondering what the worst case scenario in a deep tissue massage could be-- nerve damage? Tearing a tendon? How would I explain sustaining a back injury during a massage to people? I didn't find out first hand or come to a theoretical conclusion. But I was nervous. The masseuse did her best to work out my tension, but her touch was oftentimes rough and hard. She didn't reapply oil often, so I thought I was being skinned alive. Rather than stroking my knots away, it felt like they were being ground to death. But to her credit, my muscles were 75% back to normal by the time I walked out-- for about 6 hours. So Massage Envy did offer some temporary relief, and for the money, I shouldn't really be complaining. read more

My husband and I get couples massages as often as we can and we've been trying out a few different places around town. We tried out Massage Envy last week and were pretty disappointed. First of all, my husband always books a sports massage. His years of martial arts training and stunt work has left him with plenty of neck, back and joint pain and getting a couple massages a month really helps keep him loose and limber. Since I've been pregnant I've been going with him as often as possible to try and help relieve some of the normal discomforts of pregnancy. To put it simply, neither of us were satisfied with our "specialized" treatments. We arrived 10 minutes early as good first time clients to fill out paperwork. Our massage therapists were 15 minutes late, not a huge deal since we had the afternoon off. We go into our massage and explain our troubled areas to our respective therapists. It was apparent that mine wasn't experienced whatsoever in pregnancy massage. I tried explaining that I had been experiencing some sciatic nerve issues in my left thigh earlier in my pregnancy but that had subsided somewhat due to that lovely hormone Relaxin (the hormone that relaxes all of the joints and muscles in your body, pretty important thing to know as a massage therapist I imagine), she had no idea what I was talking about. So I went on to explain that I had a particularly tight left hip that usually need some extra focus, but besides that just the typical lower back pain from carrying around the extra weight of the baby. She told me there were no pillow cases, so there was just a sheet thrown over a body pillow, making it impossible to actually hug the pillow on my side like a typical pregnancy massage, I was more laying half on my stomach, putting a lot of pressure on the baby and really wasn't able to relax entirely. She then brought up multiple times if I could lay on my back for part of the massage, even after I said no. She said "What, did your doctor tell you not to?". Yes, every doctor tells every pregnant woman past 20 weeks not to lay on their back at all, it restricts blood flow and oxygen to the placenta- but why do I have to explain that? Isn't this a pregnancy massage? Still, I was determined to get relaxed and enjoy the hour we had. Pregnant ladies are easy to please! Just rub our backs and our swollen ankles, feet and hands and we'll purr like a kitten. Well, she wasn't able to even do that. My lower back got the least amount of attention and my ankles, feet and hands weren't touched once. She focused on my bony ribs and thighs for some odd reason and left me feeling no more relaxed than when I went in. If you aren't experienced in pregnancy massage, don't offer them is all I can say. Having a therapist who knows and understands the pregnant human body is important, it isn't just "lay on your side" when you're 8.5 months pregnant, there's a lot going on and I want to feel like I'm in safe hands with a professional- we definitely didn't feel that way at Massage Envy. My husband felt the same way I did when leaving. He has serious muscle and joint issues that need the attention of a sports massage therapist, he didn't feel any better afterward. His neck and hips were still hurting as we left the room, again if you aren't qualified, don't offer the service. We'll be returning to Viva Day Spa on 35th, they have always offered us the best massages we've ever had. We just had to learn that you get what you pay for. The massages were and cheap and the staff was polite if nothing else, but I would never recommend paying for a massage here. read more

Let me start by saying the first time I called to schedule an appointment I was hung up on after I asked if a certain masseuse was available. I called back the next day and booked an appointment. I arrived to a lady with her back to me and the phones ringing for a minute or two. No acknowledgment. Another lady came in, said "Sorry, can I help you?" I filled out some paperwork as I listened to the girls trash talk their co-workers. My therapist, Heather was really great. She focused on my lower back like I asked and had suggestions but didn't talk too much. When I went back out to leave the same "sorry" girl checked me out. She acted put out when I didn't sign up for a membership. Why would I? Overall, you get what you pay for. The massage was okay, but the service was awful. read more

I've been to several Massage Envys and been disappointed at what seem to be fresh-out-of-massage-school grade experiences. No thanks. But the staff at this location is very friendly and attentive and SHANNON gives amazing massages. I have back pain and need deep tissue work, and he really does the job. I have been going to him for over a year and I refuse to go to anyone else. I would rather not waste my $50 testing out other people. My review is based solely on Mark, who is an amazing massage therapist! I've had chronic back problems from a car accident and he has helped me out tremendously with his deep tissue massages. I've been to several massage therapists, but have never found one who can read my back like Mark can. He seems to be able to pinpoint problem areas almost immediately, and while working out these issues can sometimes be a bit painful, everything he does is totally worth it. I always leave feeling so much better. Others seem to feel the same way, as he is the most popular massage therapist at this place and is often booked 3-4 weeks in advance. Like others, I was hesitant to commit to a membership with a chain when there are so many locally owned massage places in town, but Mark is the reason I've kept going. The staff at the front desk is also really nice. I unfortunately can't continue to pay for a monthly membership, but I'll definitely make intermittent appointments when I'm able to. One complaint I have is that the process for canceling a membership is kind of odd. I was told I couldn't speak to an actual person about about my cancellation questions because cancellations aren't done at the office. Instead, they are handled externally via a yahoo email address. When I emailed that address with a cancellation form and questions, it took quite a while to get a response.
