I have been using Hush Hush Tan for several years and they are definitely my go-to! The staff has always been extremely friendly, and their spray tans are top notch! I usually go for a custom tan, but this most recent time I went for the Brazilian, and it's absolutely gorgeous! It looks so natural, and even the dreaded spots on the hands, and lines on the knuckles are nowhere to be seen! They are so professional, and I'm always so comfortable with them, which, having someone walk in on you naked and meeting them for the first time is generally awkward, but not here! The ladies are great! They have all of the amenities that you need, and I purchased their c-string wire thong a while back, and use it every time. I have NO lines whatsoever, and their products help to combat the fade! I've never had to worry about looking like a leopard when my tan fades, because it's so gradual and even. read more

Overall, the tan looked really good. I went with a level 4 out of 5 and it looked like I had already been on vacation (which the technician told me it would), but I was going on vacation so that was okay. I would've probably went with the level 3 any other time. My only complaint is that they do not provide any barrier lotion or wet wipes. My feet did not tan the best because there was no barrier lotion and I got some on my fingers when removing the sticky pads from my feet. The technician told me to just wash it off when I got home, which obviously did not work, and left my finger tips stained as well as streaky orange on my heels/ankles/toes. I would return because of the overall color, but I will definitely bring wet wipes and my own barrier lotion to prevent the same issues I had before. read more

If you want a natural looking, non streaky tan, go here. I referred a bunch of people in my building and work here and everyone loves it too. It also doesn't smell funky like a lot of other tanning solutions. I def think that it's the best fading that I've had from any spray on option. read more

I got a spray tan before graduation two weeks ago. They have a very efficient operation and got me in & out. Their staff was very friendly and explained how the whole process was going to work. I am definitely older than the other clients that were there do maybe my skin is different but I came out orange. I followed the instructions and hoped that what I was seeing would wash off during the first allowable shower, but it didn't. I won't be going back but maybe your skin will react better. I wish I had a "glowing" review of Hush Hush Tan, but all I have are splotchy arms and hands and an orange heel. I loved the studio itself, and they were able to get me in earlier than I anticipated. As a former airbrush tech in LA, a few red flags went off during my appointment: The receptionist and the airbrush tech didn't ask if I had anything on my skin; when I asked if they had anything for me to remove my deodorant with, like a wipe, they said no - but there were washcloths in the bathroom. It seems like they weren't there with the intention of being used to remove deodorant or makeup. Before my tan, the tech didn't put any lotion or barrier on my nails, heels, elbows or knees. This is a common practice with airbrushing, and it's almost always necessary. After the tan, she didn't wipe down my hands, palms, heels or nails, either. My left heel is so dark, it's almost deep brown. I was also standing on a dirty towel, which left the bottoms of my feet tanned as well. I usually give businesses 2-3 visits before posting a poor review, but I was getting tanned for a wedding in which I was the MOH, and I'm don't live in the area. The tan itself was quick. And everyone was friendly. But with a business like this, attention to detail is key. My results -- overly saturated heels, splotchy hands and arms and tanned cuticles -- are why so many people are scared to try airbrush tanning. I'd suggest taking the extra time to make sure the client is prepped before and after the service and providing the appropriate materials to do so. read more

An awesome spray tan spot in Austin! It is in the cutest little house close to downtown. The staff was friendly and got me set up and in at my appointment time. The girl who sprayed me asked what color I wanted to be and was very friendly and make me comfortable the whole Time. The process was pretty quick, quicker than other places I have been and they only sprayed you one time around which I thought was odd. However, my tan turned out great, natural, not Streaky at all, and lasted fairly long. Only suggestion would be to slow down when explaining directions of how you want the customers to stand / move their arms as not everyone gets spray tans often. read more

I was visiting the area for the first time, when I called to request an appointment the Gal over the phone told me there was a location on the East-Side of town in Austin that would not have a wait because they do not get busy. Little did I know, the place was awfully located. Street parking is far & few in between with guest cursing each other out about which direction you should be driving. The other business' this location shares their space with was not good at all. I was in need of an urgent tan for an event & decided WTH lets go in. The place was a dump, dirty beyond words as if I was going to tan in a stock room or something. On our way out the door an undercover cop approached my husband & asked if he owned the Tanning Salon as he had some questions about the business inside the lot that had nothing but hooligans smoking & drinking. Probably around 60 people in total. I do not know why HHT would send anyone to this location. Why is it even open!!!! read more

My hands and feet were splotchy (looked like my left hand was missed completely) and my palms were tanned as if I had applied self tanner. Besides that, everything looked okay for about 12-24 hours. Then, everything started getting splotchy as the days went on. I have been trying out spray tan places for my wedding and this hasn't happened with other places. I made sure to exfoliate the day before so that I would not create the problem myself and also moisturized afterwards to try to keep everything even. Not bad. They were able to take me as a walk in which was super cool. The experience was very quick and expedient, which I also appreciated. The color was not super orange after developing - yay! There was some splotchiness around my feet and hands. However, this has been my experience with every sunless tan I've had - bottle or spray (aside from a tan I got at Simply Golden). The tan I got at Hush Hush was not a rapid tan, but only took 4 hours to develop. I rinsed it briefly and it continued to develop overnight. I got "light to medium" and I'm very fair skinned with some freckles on my arms and decolotte. It had a nice tone the first day. It was more orange the second day but still not as bad as rapid tans I've had elsewhere. (This tan was not a rapid tan but it developed at a rapid tan rate.) I work out a lot so I shower a lot. I'm on day 3 since my tan and it's pretty faded at this point. It never got super orange and I wore a bracelet over the blotchiness on my wrist to distract from it. I looks like it will be completely gone in a day or two. I like that it didn't peel off like one darker, rapid tan I had in the past. I also like the location because it's convenient for me. If they had an unlimited option and I could go in every 3 days I might consider coming back to this location regularly. However, due to how long the tan lasts on me and the pricing model ($120/month for 4 tans), this place will not work out for me as a regular go-to. Somebody - please show me the light!! How do I get a non-orange sunless tan that I can maintain all the time? It seems like all the membership options out there are $120/4 tans. The few times I had a spray tan at Hush Hush the results were a natural tan color and I received several compliments. They were not "wow you got a spray tan" but instead "you got some sun, you look great". Upon making my appointment for a custom glow, I received an email confirmation and FAQs. Read the FAQs before you go. It covers what to do before and after your appointment. What do you wear? You can either keep your underwear on (the solution will wash out) or you can wear the disposable underwear they provide. Olivia was my tech for my first visit and she guided me through robot and vogue dance moves as she sprayed the cool mist. Their spray tans are friendlier to skin than the sun's harsh rays or a tanning bed. The solution they use is organic and contains acai berry, vitamins E & C, aloe vera and rosemary. My first visit was using a Living Social deal for half off. There are several other ways to receive discounts: 1. Book your next appointment in advanced for $3 off. 2. I had decided to go with Hush Hush Tans since they had such good reviews on yelp and the place that I had gotten spray tans from in the past is no longer in business. There is absolutely no way I would ever recommend Hush Hush Tans to anyone after my experience. My evening appointment began with the technician hurrying in and not really listening to what I wanted. Then she rushed through the spray tan and then rushed out after she was done. It seemed like she was in this huge time crunch but I had booked an appointment weeks in advance. I left feeling very uneasy about the tan. When I got home and got a good look at what she had done to me I was pretty upset at what I saw in the mirror. I was much darker than anticipated, with two different colored arms, a very obvious streak on my arm and some key areas completely missed. I'm a very fair person so the parts that the technician missed REALLY stuck out. Unfortunately, I couldn't call them because by the time I got home they had closed for the evening. The next day I called them and was offered the solution of either a refund or to come back in and have the tan fixed by another technician. That is okay under normal circumstances but I went in and got the spray tan the Thursday/evening before my wedding. The next day ie Friday/the day before my wedding the one that is typically insanely busy was in fact insanely busy. I didn't have time to go by there and get it fixed because I had rehearsal, last minute errands, family coming into town etc. So I got married in an orangey streaky horrible tan. read more

This was my first time getting an airbrush tan. I've had spray tans before but only at places with the mystic style system. I had no idea what to expect. This place is a little hard to find so beware! Inside is a cute, old house with a welcome desk. The lady walks you back to a room and asks you to undress to your level of comfort. There are complimentary disposable thongs if you don't want to wear your own underwear. She explains that there are different levels of tan and that she controls the amount of product that comes out with the little nozzle. I just told her to do what she thought best for my skin tone. She leaves for you to undress and then comes back in the room to start the process. It is quick and very professional. I chose to go topless which at first was a little awkward but the lady was so focused and efficient that it ended up being a breeze. It was all over quickly! I waited a few seconds to dry off, put my clothes back on and went on home. She told me to wait 8 hours if I could before showering. I got my spray tan at 4 pm and didn't shower until about 10 am the next day. When I did, it was a little gross. The water coming off me was black with what they call the "cosmetic bronzer". Just the top layer of color. After showering I still had a beautiful and even tan. No fading! I want to be this color forever. read more

For the past 23 years of my life, I have avoided spray tans at all costs. In my mind, they were a waste of money and I heard horror stories where girls ended up being orange colored, streaky, etc. I always figured when you went spray tanning, people KNEW you went spray tanning because it looked that fake. But I had a trip to Vegas in less than a week and I needed to get some color in my pasty skin FAST. So I looked up yelp, saw this place, and coincidentally enough it's the same place my roommate goes to for tans. This place is a little hard to find when you're first going to it, because it's one of those house-turned-businesses. It's very small but it's cute and homey once you enter. There was only one person working both times I went, and she was the receptionist/tanner all in one. You can opt to wear as much as or as little as you like, and I went for the birthday suit because I wanted a full even tan all over. I loved my tanner, she was very friendly yet professional and made me feel comfortable (which is pretty hard to do when she can see all your lady bits). It was very easy and quick and once she was done, she left the room and she turns on a small fan to help your tan dry. I recommend asking her to go over your feet more than once because the feet tends to whiten the fastest and it's really funky looking when you have beautiful goddess-tan legs but then your white feet are sticking out underneath. I loved my tan both times I went. I asked for a natural color and she did exactly what I wanted. It looked great, very natural but tan and I received so many compliments on my color! The only sad thing is that now I've moved to Houston and have yet to find a place that I love as much as this place. Found this place on Yelp and the reviews are completely spot on. I love it. I love my tan. I still have a nice glow and I went exactly a week ago. The girls that work here are super nice. You go into a back room and get completely naked (there's also an option for disposable panties) and they get all up in your bizz and spray you. It's kind of chilly. But the tan itself is awesome. No streaks. No orange. I got SO MANY compliments on how great it looked. It looked so good that my friend who came with me got a tan herself right after. This was my first experience getting an airbrush tan. I have been to tanning salons in the past where I've stepped into a cold machine and ended up having random blotches that eventually turn orange in different areas of your body. This was not the case with Hush Hush Tan. I am a bride-to-be and decided that I needed some last minute color before taking engagement photos. I am as fair skinned as they come. I checked out Hush Hush on Yelp and noticed they had 5 stars, so I decided to take a gamble. I have now found my go-to place when I need a dependable and natural looking tan! I called them on a Saturday and asked if they could squeeze me in somehow. My engagement photos were to be taken the following Monday. They were more than helpful in giving me three or four different time slots to pick from and advised me on what to do as far as showering prior to coming in order to guarantee a perfect tan. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a woman behind the counter who made me feel very welcome and comfortable. She took me to a back room that was very private and cozy. She explained all the steps, gave me different options on whether I wanted to be completely naked or wear a disposable thong, etc. She then asked me what kind of tan I would like to have as far as darkness. She went over the entire process of how the airbrush tan essentially worked. I even loved that she painted a protect-ant on my bare nails to keep them from becoming orange. I felt extremely comfortable and at ease throughout the entire airbrush session. When all was said and done, I had a gorgeous tan for my engagement photos. It wasn't too dark and not too light either. The tan was also pretty even across my body. I did have a little bit of darkness where my bra line is on the front of my body, but that is probably because I didn't wear loose fitting clothing to Hush Hush like I was instructed to. Anyways, it was barely noticeable. I was also pleasantly surprised that the tan didn't come off on my white dress on the day of engagement photos when I started sweating. The tan slowly and naturally went away over the next two weeks without any annoyances. This was my first time getting a spray tan and I overall had a really good experience. It was super quick and the person doing my tan helped me pick out what level to go with in order to cover some tan lines. We ended up going with a medium. I left it on for about 9 hours before rinsing and I'm pleased with how it looks. I have got a lot of compliments and I think it looks really natural- no orangey Oompa Loompa looks at all! I did have some patchiness on parts of my legs and back- but I think that was user error for not giving the tan enough time to dry/ wearing too tight clothes.
