Rare beef Pho tai (rare flank)

I ordered the shrimp spring rolls and a rare beef pho . Both were exceptional.. outstanding. The peanut sauce with the spring rolls was very tasty. Excellent service. Great tasting broth, plenty of veggies. Reasonably priced. What's not to love? Can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu.

Bánh hỏi is okay. They don't have the classic bánh hỏi with crispy roasted pork so I do egg roll instead. Egg roll is crispy, but I think the skin is too thick. The nem summer roll is pretty good. Each roll is huge. Pho is my least favorite. The broth is bland and has a weird taste. But the noodle is well cooked, meat is standard

I've been here a few times. Had other dishes before but nothing fancy. This time I've went and to try out their bbh "bún bò huế". The noodles were overcooked. They didn't have certain items in the bowl that the bbh normally has. Sorry but I wouldn't be ordering it again.

Get the lemon grass chicken wings! Soooooooo good! I really think this a great place to check out on the West Bank! It can be a bit pricey, but the food is delicious, and the portions are big. It would be hard to be disappointed. There is a lot of seating and tables are spread apart. Ordering food here is very easy as well.

I haven't been to Tan Dinh in a while, so I decided to dine in when I had some free time. I really liked the seat-yourself service. I ordered the sweet jasmine tea, and I was a little worried that it might be too sweet, but the server told me they add lime to it to cut the sugar. It turned out to be very refreshing. I also ordered the lemongrass spring rolls, which had an insane amount of chicken and flavor. They tasted really good. I decided to try something new from the menu and ordered the salt and pepper shrimp with lemongrass sauce. The huge, juicy shrimp were topped with amazing seasoning, pickled veggies, and served with steamed rice. It was simply AMAZING!

Tan Dinh is consistently great. I started coming here in 2011 and it still a fantastic spot for Vietnamese food. I love the sweet rice cakes! The fact that there's an option to substitute white rice with the decadent sweet rice cakes is such a treat. They have a nice size vegetarian menu. I like the curry tofu and the spicy lemongrass tofu. Tapioca drinks are delicious! I also like that they offer a medium or large size options for the pho even during dinner service. The medium is already a nice size portion. They do not serve Bahn Mi, so you'll have to get your sandwich elsewhere.

All their chicken dishes are my fav! Chicken wings - perfectly fried and so much flavor. They have a few different options in flavors. I usually get the fish sauce or tamarind ones. So good. Ga nuong - over rice, over noodles, doesn't matter. It's a huge portion! And so delicious. Their pho isn't my favorite. But my bf and his friends said their pho ga is one of the best. Suon rang muoi - this is a really good fried pork rib dish. It is VERY heavy to me. I cannot finish an entire portion. But the flavor is on point and the crunch in each bite is insurmountable! Ga roti - supposed to be rotisserie chicken, but I'm pretty sure it's fried. If you're not watching your cholesterol, i would def try this!!! A lot of people like it with their sticky rice but I'm not a fan. Anyway. Come here. Eat your fill. Portions are insane. Food is delicious.

Vermicelli bowl with chargrilled pork and egg rolls

OH my goodness such an amazing meal at Tan Dinh yesterday!! Probably the best Vietnamese food I've ever had! My friend and I were coming home from a long morning hiking and we were starving. We yelped good Vietnamese food on the West Bank and Tan Dinh was one of the top spots so we pulled in. We were a little surprised it was so packed at 1:30 PM but the dining room is big and we got a table immediately. Service was a little slow because there were so many people and not many servers but we were patient. We decided to start with the lemongrass chicken wings. OMG. We are both huge wing fans and we agreed that they were the best we've had in NOLA. There were also SO MANY on the appetizer plate. We split them and then were too full for our main dishes. And this came from two VERY HUNGRY people. We both ended up taking most of our bowls home. I got the vermicelli bowl with egg rolls and chargrilled pork which was GIGANTIC. It was also awesome!! I will definitely make it back here to try the rest of the menu and eat those chicken wings again!

After my previous go-to West Bank Vietnamese restaurant closed, I thought I'd give this one a try. They have a vegetarian section with a few flavors of tofu over rice or noodles, and I tried what seemed to be their signature lemongrass. The dish arrived with a massive amount of actual tofu, deep fried, garnished with a sauce full of actual lemongrass (it looks like small bamboo stalks cut into sections, and tastes lemony of course), and with more sauce beneath. The sticky rice cakes I ordered probably didn't make it any healthier-this was a very sugary dish-but it was all pretty delicious, and the dish did at least include some spinach and other vegetables on the side. For being in a nondescript strip, it was a nice, clean, but casual place inside. I often wonder about visiting restaurants at off hours, but they had plenty of business at 3 on a Saturday, and I got good service. I got a tapioca pearl drink, which most people there seemed to have ordered. They did not have the first flavor I wanted, nor the second that they offered me, which was a bit suspect, but the strawberry something or other flavor that I ended up with was perfectly satisfying. The plastic cup it comes in makes a good to-go container, which is good, because I was pretty stuffed from the food. I'd come back.

    Delicious duck!

I'm going to be honest: I probably would have made this a 4 star review, except my entree was phenomenal. We stopped in on a Saturday evening and were greeted by a lovely server. We ordered the chicken wings and some shrimp spring rolls to start, and then between us got an order of rare beef pho, some chicken steamed buns, and I got a small order of duck. The chicken wings were tasty and the meat was tender, though it still can't touch the wings of MOPHO. The spring rolls were pretty basic; I was looking for more fresh herbs and a bit more spice in the peanut sauce. The pho broth was rich and deep with the traditional Chinese 5 spice and lots of herbaceous notes, and the chicken was tender and juicy, served with briny and spicy kimchi. Both very good. But then I tasted the duck. Holy hell. For a small portion, it looked like half of the animal. The meat was cooked perfectly and very moist. The fat was rendered and the skin was slightly crispy and not rubbery at all. The seasoning of the duck was so good I didn't even touch the au jus, and just dipped my rice cakes in the duck drippings. I left with enough leftovers for another substantial dinner, and I have to say, it was almost as good on day 2. We left stuffed, groaning, and happy. Best duck I've had in a long while!

Lemongrass tofu rice plate. Amazing! Tofu chunks were FAR larger than they look in the photo.

Some friends drove me over to the Westbank to try Tan Dinh, and holy cow!! This was easily my best dining experience of 2018 and it happened right at the tail end. The portions! The flavors! The prices! I am impressed. They have a vegetarian menu from which I chose the lemongrass tofu rice plate. Amazing. Huge chunks of firm, crispy tofu smothered in the most delightful spicy, savory-sweet sauce. They give you plenty of fresh fluffy rice, and the garnishes were highly edible--pickled daikon, cucumber, tomato, and baby spinach. My friends plates were equally epic, as were their appetizers. The spring rolls look rather unique and the steamed buns were soft and delicious. It's a large dining space but it's quite popular with the locals, so might be best to get a spot early in the evening. Prices are extremely fair for what you get--only $10 for the vegetarian entrees. I will be going back as soon as I can wrangle a ride.

    Spicy lemongrass tofu very good!

Someone finally came over to take our drink order. We realized that there was only one person working in the whole restaurant. We knew they did not serve liquor so we asked for iced tea,,,,NONE. We ordered water. We reviewed the laminated, colorful menu (which made the place feel like a chain restaurant.) We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak dumplings and the Crawfish dumplings. Both had obviously been frozen and then either microwaved or steamed. I took one bite of the cheesesteak dumpling and they had heated it up TOO much so it burned my lip and tongue. I waited about 5-7 minutes and took another bite. They were rubbery and, as hard as it is to believe, they both tasted the same. The steamed dumplings were better, but not by much. We will not be going back. There are other dumpling places to try.

I struggled with putting a 5-star review on a pretty basic menu (no offense), but dang it,…read moreeverything we've eaten in our last 3 visits (in 2 months) has been 5-star fresh, tasty and plentiful. Give credit where credit is due. And the servers have really stepped it up. Very nice! Have not had to deal with huge crowds on any of our three visits, just a steady stream of in and out guests and to go orders. Drinks are always brought promptly, and only once has one gone dry. (They are $3.79 ea, so drink up!) One visit involved Pesto Bites and a Savory Cannoli w/a pasta salad side. The Pesto Bites were to die for, and don't believe the picture on the website - the cannoli was huge and looked more like a very big calzone, but it was packed with ingredients and flavor. The pasta salad was seasoned with just the right amount of Italian dressing. Another visit involved Mozzarella Sticks, Pesto Bites, wings and a Combo pizza. It also involved a large to go box. :) The wings were very good - not bready or slimy, which I often encounter when wings aren't the sole business of the establishment. Loved the crust on the pizza. The 3rd visit involved 3 people and Pizza Bites, Seafood Bites, Savory Cannoli w/pasta salad, Spaghetti & Meatballs w/2 extra meatballs and a 14" Hawaiian Pizza. There were some to go boxes and to go drinks with this meal too. I was pleasantly surprised with the Hawaiian pizza, not something I would ordinarily try, the Pizza Bites were amazing, and I don't eat shrimp but am told the Seafood Bites were very good. I wish I had taken pictures, but each time we were sitting down starving; that's never good for the photo business. :) Try it, you'll like it.

I think it's a pretty neat concept to generate passive income seeing how I don't believe that everyone in the "sippy club" will be coming back every two hours for a beverage. I know I don't and if you do, you've got too much time on your hands lol. Plus it's not like they're a McDonald's, one found on just about every corner. Panera's are pretty spread out and you would have to drive a good distance every two hours to really take full advantage of this membership. Now, if you're dining in; you are entitled to unlimited refills. So, kudos for the idea cuz the beverages are delicious but every two hours is genius. I like all of their drinks but the Passion Papaya Green Tea is my fav! The new charged lemonades (Fuji Apple, Cranberry Mango, Citrus Yuzu and Strawberry Lemon Mint) are great but have too much caffeine for my liking. They put guarana and green coffee in those drinks. I'm not a huge fan of their food items because they're a bit under seasoned to me but they appear to be healthy options. That aside, I have to say their baked pastries are awesome! From the bagels to the cookies, everything is deeeeelicious!!! I loved their pastry rings but had a pull way back....they're super addictive and not too kind on the waistline lol.
