    AUTHENTIC BUN BO HUE
    Myy T.

TRULY THE BEST! just like how it is in Vietnam. They did not try to alter the authenticity of the broth nor the meat! the blood jelly is so tender and soft and fresh! dived in halfway then realized i need to spread the words about this amazing place! HIDDEN GEM LITERALLY! store is really hidden in a plaza but the have big sign to direct you!

The food tasted great! All the ingredients were fresh and the service was incredible. Very personable and made very good recommendations for our first time here.

Literally a hole In the wall! Came here bc I was in a rush. Definitely did not disappoint. I got the cococane drink and it was amazing. I only had time order the egg rolls and tasted like a typical egg roll. Nothing too special about it. The drink is what pretty much sold it for me. I'm gonna come back here to try other foods! I heard their BBH is really good. So I'll be back to try that for sure!

Their Bun Bo Hue is on point as aways. This time around, they stop taking cards as payments. I usually don't carry cash around but I had some today to pay for it. They need to turn the AC on bc it was way too warm while eating a bowl of noodle soup . Don't get water if you don't want to be charged $1. This is a first for me...smh. The waitress should have informed us.

My sisters were telling me about this place so I decided to try it out since I love bun bo hue and the best one to me is in Houston. This place is literally a hole in the wall place. I couldn't find it at first until I saw the sign. I ordered the bun bo hue and have to say it is so good. It's very flavorful and tasty and I will definitely be back. My sister had the bun rieu and banh mi and they like it. I took away one star since it was hard for me to find them and the menu is very limited but the bun bo hue is legit.

Came back recently to try a few other things and I am even more impressed! Their owner, Jim, who I finally got to meet, makes all of the soup/noodle dishes himself! So it definitely has that homemade Vietnamese flavor. Another thing, they sell fresh nuoc rau ma, which is pennywort. It is my favorite drink ever! It is so refreshing. My friend tried it and says it tastes very grassy. So definitely not for everyone. And, they are the only Vietnamese restaurant IN THE CITY to sell mi quang. And it is rollllinnnggg. It's served with wide, yellow noodles, shrimp, and a few other things. Bun rieu - this is a vermicelli soup dish that comes with Tofu, pork blood, and crabmeat balls. This is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes and Bamboo Cafe is probably my favorite place to get it. Bun bo hue - spicy beef noodle soup. This soup dish has so much flavor. The only thing I would recommend is to have pig hock in it. Not many people like eating it in restaurants bc of how dirty it can get, but it makes BBH so much better. The accoutrements are lime, fresh basil, cabbages, bean sprouts, and fresh chili peppers that are cut up. They also provide shrimp paste and sate for added flavor and spice. All of their soup dishes come out piping hot, which is how all restaurants should serve their food! I will come back again and again and recommend it to all of my friends.

My friend and I made a day of being on the West Bank, and it was suggested by the nail salon we went to to try Bamboo Cafe for their Vietnamese Coffee since we were hurting for some energy. It's tucked away in a corner, and there was a handful of guys playing cards out front, a daily occurrence from what our nail tech said. We were the only customers there inside, and we ordered two coffees and their combination bahn mi that was suggested. The menu is in Vietnamese and English. The iced coffee was sugar-strong and delicious. If you're a black coffee type for the taste this might not be your thing, but if you like a strong coffee I highly suggest since both my friend and I didn't fall asleep till 4am (true dat). The bahn mi was splittable between the two of us (we'd eaten a little bit a couple hours before) and our total came out to maybe $13. I thought I'd need Sriracha but there was a sauce on the bahn mi that gave it just enough spice and flavor not to need any extra sauce. The staff also gave us complimentary fresh passionfruit juices! Score! They have an assortment of other juices as well! I would definitely pop in here again if I came back this way!

Sign. It's in the corner of the shopping center, in the back.

This is a review of the iced coffee. This is a cute little restaurant that just opened and they serve various sandwiches and soups. In addition to the food they have an extensive juice and coffee menu. Because I love Vietnamese coffee, but I feel weird going into most places and just asking for it "to go", this seemed like the perfect place for me because "to go" is one of their specialties. I got an iced coffee and it was 12 ounces for $4. At first I thought that this was a bit overpriced, but the coffee was really rich and I enjoyed it. I think next time I am going to ask for less ice only because they packed the cup and I hate when I finish a drink and I still have a full cup of ice. The place itself is small with a few booths and there is seating outside, if you happen to be there on a cooler day. I am eager to return and try the food and will post a review update when I do.

[BBH] Bun Bo Hue / Spicy Beef Noodle Soup

Read my previous review along with this one.. UPDATE: I tried other things... BBH: not good. When the BBH came out, I knew something was wrong. The color of the broth was thick and brown when it should be clear and red. It didn't taste like authentic BBH and although I appreciate the beef knuckles, there were only two pieces of brisket that came in my bowl. Also, there was no xate, which is a vietnamese chili oil that should always accompany it. MI Quang: The broth was pretty good. However, the meat was very tough and the noodles slightly overcooked. Rice Cake: I ordered it again. It was still good, except extremely salty this time. Idk... Taro: I was told it was made out of fresh Taro, which I believe. The taste is not as strong, like fresh Taro should be. Bubble tea places that serve a strong Taro flavor must've used the help of powder because really Taro is more mellow. Yummy. It doesnt come with tapioca unless you ask for it. Sugar Cane Juice (Nuoc Mia): My grandpa really liked it. I was also fresh. I wish it was sweeter or came with some kumquats, which is how it is usually served at an Asian fair. Cafe Sua Da: More bitter than I'd like it to be, but my grandparents loved it and said that's how it should be!

Ok I FINALLY found my FAVORITE Vietnamese restaurant in Nola! After living here for 25 years! Everything is AMAZING! Taste just like homemade! Stacy but a good spice where you can't stop eating! The mi quang here is to die for! And most of all my bf approve of this place! I would ALWAYS come back when I'm the area! Love ittttt

The only thing I order from here is the bún bò huế. It's pretty decent from a city with not that population of Vietnamese people.

I would get the bun Bo hue or a pork banh mi and it's delicious! It's my parents go to place.

Don't get me wrong, the food I ordered was tasty but the service and ambience were quite dry. I suggest to get your food to go.
