Bun Bo Hue - Spicy Beef Noodle Soup
    Liz W.

I realized this spot is a mile from my gym and opens early at the exact time I finish my workouts.. this could be a "problem". Cool, casual, clean and well lit, this is a large space offers lots of seating at a countertop or tables. The service is great! Sat right away, order taken, water brought. Everyone is friendly and looks like they are working hard. I ordered the combination pho. Delicious and lots of meat! Good portions, I barely finished half. There is an option for a small portion which I'll probably get next time. Yesterday I ordered to-go for a friend and myself. I wanted to try the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef stew). I opted to substitute pho noodles for the round noodles because I like the pho noodles better. While not spicy it was very good with lots of flavor. This soup only comes in one size and there was lots of meat. It did not have pate or blood cake in it though so I was a little bummed but overall very good. I would order again for sure. I also got the lemongrass tofu - again, not spicy but excellent flavor and texture. I will be dining here a lot.

Pho was very flavorful. I had the small size but it still was a huge serving! The lemongrass chicken wings were the best! We've never had that chicken wing flavor before. I guess when we came in they were a bit understaffed because service was a bit slow.

I was craving vietnamese and this place was in reach since i was doing some shopping nearby. Its a chain...i know...dont judge me. My meal was fine. Nothing to write home about. I had shrimp rolls and beef pho. The flavor of the soup was pretty good but some of my fixings didnt appear to be super fresh. The casing on the rolls was a bit stubborn but i enjoyed the peanut dipping sauce. Plenty of free parking out front and the staff was efficient and friendly. Its worth checking out again should the need for pho strikes me.

While on a business trip to NOLA, I enjoyed a lunch here, as a solo diner, I sat at the bar & enjoyed great conversation with the knowledgeable bar staff - I can't recall her name, but she provided great friendly service! Nice modern atmosphere, friendly, knowledgeable staff & fantastic food - Give it a shot!

Came here for lunch one day and had a bowl of pho with my husband. We both got the pho with meatballs and it was pretty quick service but wasn't all that attentive. This pho didn't taste as great or authentic as I was hoping but the food was still decent. It was a quick fix for pho but with all the local places that offer pho around here, I think I would be fine not coming here again anytime soon.

Pho Bistreaux In Elmwood is OPEN and is still one of the best dining options available in the elmwood area. Their Spicy Lemongrass Tofu appetizer is our favorite starter and for entrees we love the Grilled Beef with Rice and the Grilled Shrimp with rice. On rainy or cold days this is a great place to go for combination pho.

Love the spicy chicken lettuce wraps, it's spicy but not too spicy, it has a kick. You can share it between two or three people.

Second visit there was only one server and the place ended up getting packed and I felt terrible for her because she had so many tables. It probably took 20 minutes to get to me for a drink order and another 10 before I could place my food order. She was very nice, but there needs to be management there to help out when things get this rough. Third visit is probably my last. Hardly anyone in the restaurant, the young man waiting tables is OK nice. My other two visits both of my entrées came with beans and rice. I ordered Daddy's special An outage came on a huge plate with a tamale, flauta, and a chile relleno. There were no beans and rice and I asked my server if I could get a side of beans and rice for the plate? Few moments later he came out with a rather large plate with beans and rice on it. About 30% more than you would get on a normal plate. When my check came, I was shocked. For the side of beans and rice that was 399 each which brought my ticket total up eight dollars! That's right, $8 for side of beans and rice. I'll skip this place and go back to my regular spots, Casa Garcia and Caretta's.

Then, another hour to get the food. The wait staff was nice but it did seem like they were extremely forgetful at times. I ordered the Oysters, Meatballs, and a side of the pasta with truffle cream. The oysters were a 10/10 and so were the meatballs. The pasta and truffle cream was extremely bland. That mak was s me afraid to order from the pasta cart. Then, the Gelato had huge chunks of salt on it which made it inedible for me. The menu didn't denote that there was salt. Otherwise, I would have requested it not be added. Perhaps this is standard but I've never had Gelato with salt. They should have put that salt on the pasta!! The whole experience lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes. Way too long. I may return after a while. I'm not sure.
