I was really looking forward to trying Pho House Cafe after reading so many reviews calling it the best pho in New Orleans, especially the oxtail pho. Unfortunately, my experience was a huge disappointment. For me, it's the little details that make a difference. The noodles, oxtail, and toppings came in a Styrofoam container, while the broth was packaged separately in the standard clear soup container. I understand this is how pho was traditionally packaged for takeout because people were usually taking it home, where they had bowls. But with so many people ordering through DoorDash to their jobs or other places, there's often no bowl available. It would be a much better experience if the noodles and toppings were packaged in a large bowl instead. They also didn't include any utensils or chopsticks. Thankfully, I keep a pair in my purse, but I shouldn't have to. The oxtails looked dry and were nowhere near as tender as I expected. The broth was the biggest letdown. It was overly salty and tasted like plain beef broth rather than a true Vietnamese pho broth. It was missing the rich, slow-simmered flavor and the aromatic spices like star anise, cinnamon, cloves, and roasted herbs that give pho its signature taste. It honestly tasted like store-bought broth instead of something made from scratch. I almost ordered the banh mi too, but decided to go with the highly recommended oxtail pho. Based on this experience, I'm glad I didn't spend even more money. Maybe I'm being a little harsh because I'm sick and was really craving a comforting bowl of pho. I also have to take some responsibility because I didn't stick with the place I normally order from. I wanted to try something new, and this one just wasn't for me. So honestly, I blame myself for taking the chance. Unfortunately, between the poor packaging, missing utensils, dry oxtail, and disappointing broth, I won't be ordering from Pho House Cafe again. In the mood for some pho? This is a great option. In a shopping center so the parking is great. There's a sign that says new menu new management. While the last management wasn't bad they fewer pho options. I was excited to see that they have chicken pho now...they only had beef before. The dining area is very big and spacious. The service was prompt and pleasant. Pho was flavorful and hot! I hope that they can get the business they deserve because they really are good. read more

First time visiting this place. Came around 3pm so it wouldn't be super busy. The server was a nice young man The area was clean and decorated nicely. We ordered a pho soup and the General tso chicken Both came out in a timely manner and was just the best. The chicken plate had a kick to it but it wasn't too much. For a Vietnamese restaurant in Kenner or even in the New Orleans area, this is a very large place. I arrived at 11 and no one was in there and no one came while I was there. Reviews of this restaurant were kind of iffy, but I chose to try it and ordered a rare beef Pho and spring rolls. The spring rolls were OK though the peanut sauce was not my favorite. The beef in the Pho was not rare when it arrived, and it was very thin and honestly, I would have to describe it as kind of old. The flavor of the broth was good but with the number of Vietnamese restaurants in the area, I doubt if I will return. read more

I came by after craving pho and dropped at Pho House Cafe on the way to the airport. The interior is large and very clean and you can tell the restaurant is fairly new. There is ample parking outside. Menu is true to the name and fairly limited to just a few pho options, and they don't have a full menu outside of pho and a couple of apps / drinks. However they have many meat combinations including oxtail which is less common in pho restaurants. Pricing is a bit steep vs comparable restaurants but the meat and broth all taste high quality. Service was prompt and the food came out quickly. The broth is darker and clear and has a stronger herbal and ginger flavor to it. It was a bit fattier than other broths I've had and definitely has something extra versus a typical pho place. Toppings and protein were all high quality and generous portions. Overall the pho was very rich and a great pick me up on a rainy day. read more

OMG this whole trip to Louisiana and the cleanest men's room is here at Pho restaurant in a strip mall. The restaurant has only Pho so you expected to be outstanding... it does not disappoint. The service is bad, the lady doesn't even say Hi and when you say thank you she doesn't respond like she doesn't want it be here. The pho is on the sweet side which is not really authentic pho. I had oxtail and brisket pho $20 with a spring roll $6. The portions are small with the pho I had one small ox tail and 3 small pieces of briskets. The ambiance and decoration is the only thing that's going for this place LOL. SO delicious! The owners were so nice and told us about how they make the pho and all about traditional pho. Since this restaurant only does traditional pho, all pho will be beef based. We came into the restaurant and nobody in the front to serve us, no waiter no body. The business time they put on the door is 8:00-10:00, but on the website said 10:00-10:00. We made a call and let them know were there They said,"they didn't see anybody and they were at the kitchen". That's bad service for the first time we came. Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, I wasn't expecting to find a good pho place in Louisiana. And if I were to find one, it would be a quick bite. Boy, was I wrong on both! I had the Tenderloin pho soup and was pleasantly surprised by the full flavors and good quality of meat. They took their time preparing the noodle soups, nearly half an hour. The pho was great, I ordered an oxtail and brisket pho it had a great taste. The egg rolls had a weird taste to them I couldn't finish them they tasted extremely weird. We tried this place b/c our usual pho place was closed...and I think we have a new spot. The menu is smaller than I'm used to, but the pho & Vietnamese egg rolls are delicious! I only got broth & noodles, but my husband had the oxtail & steak...the oxtail was so tender. The place itself was spacious, bright, & clean and the staff was super friendly. I love that they have a counter you can sit at rather than at the tables (like at a sushi place).
