I used to eat here on my way back from NOLA to Slidell. Phos and vermicelli dishes are very good. Service is excellent and the place packed at lunch time. But that area has gotten a little dicey. It pains me to give such a low rating but I chose it as my last meal in New Orleans (work position is over and I'm moving out of state) and I was sorely disappointed. Maybe my fault for going on a Sunday near closing time but I got a bun bo hue and, while the broth flavor was good, there were no blood cubes, no variety of meats, the herbs were off (no cilantro, no green onion, no saw tooth herb) and the beef slices were so rubbery, it was near inedible. There was certainly nothing to even eat out of the pork knuckle, it was just a giant ball of hardened rubber. I can't get enough of this dish, and I've tried other versions of this dish at other Vietnamese restaurants - the very most value for the money.. only place to add diakon radish.. highly recommend! read more

Even though Pho Bang has multiple locations, this place slowed down over the years in direct competition with Dong Phuong and Ba Mien in the neighborhood. The good thing about this place is that it is closer to the neighborhood and has later hours than Dong Phuong. Though I have been ending up here once in a while, the food was not too bad. It helped me when I badly needed pho when everywhere else was closed and it filled me up. The food is good, but not great. New Orleans is booming with places to eat, especially with Vietnamese restaurants popping up everywhere now. Overall, a decent place to grab Vietnamese food. Do not expect service here. They will get your order, bring your food and drink out, and then you pay at the counter. read more

I'm from Northern Virginia close to Washington DC and up here Vietnamese food all sucks. They cook to make a dollar and everything is blend. No love given when they cook. The bun Bo hue is absolutely amazing. Broth is definitely hearty, full of flavor, bowl is definitely meaty. I don't eat much meat but you can't complain about the servings at all. No need to add shrimp paste, just s squeeze of lime and it's perfect. The staffs there are okay. They aren't friendly and they act like they don't hear you when you talk at times. Since my usual spot is closed on Tuesday's I traveled another 2 blocks to give Pho Bang another try. I got a Large Pho (Rare Steak and Brisket) and it was loaded with meat. The flavor was about the same as the last time i was here and service was much better. I keep hearing how good they are by Vietnamese friends of mine and they love it. To me it's just ok and if I'm passing by and my usual spot is closed then as I did today I'll stop by if I'm in the mood for Pho. There's not a lot of options in this particular area of the city for Vietnamese food and the competition is really between these guys and my usual place. This establishment is racist towards Black people. The food is OK but they are rude and they touch everything with their bare hands.

I came here with a friend for breakfast. She had a rice dish and I had a bowl of Pho. Our total was nearly 40$ as it included drinks and one appetizer. Nothing was edible. Our egg rolls were fried in old oil and our food was obviously microwaved. There was no way my pho was fresh if my pho broth was piping hot and my noodles were clumped together (and cold) as if the noodles have been prepped the day before. The rice in my friend's entree was hard and unevenly warm and cold in different places. When we asked the server how our food was prepared, she quickly became defensive "What do you want me to do about it?" "I'm not back there when it's prepared" It wasn't until then when we mentioned that our food didn't taste fresh and it seemed like our food was microwaved. While we hadn't expected to be offered a refund (which we weren't), we did not expect to be faced with the cold, defensive remarks made by the young lady. I feel like we should have spoken up early on as we sat there for a while catching up, but 90% of our food remained untouched and no one bothered to come check up on us... not even to bring the bill.. (but that's probably because they thought we were still eating) So if you're looking for a place with a full service and good food, this place is not it. You're better off spending your money at the restaurant down the street than this outdated establishment... bc tbh, if you're gonna take your mom or dad to this nightmare, they're gonna "goi canh sat" on the restaurant and then on you for making them endure that hot mess. The third of three Pho Bangs in the Greater New Orleans area, and an all around solid, standard pho place. Came by here with a few people after visiting the boyfriend at work. We ordered: 1. Lemonade: the kind with lemon pulp, sugar, and a side of club soda to pour in. Never fails. 2. Pho Bo - Brisket and meatballs. 3. Pho Tai Nam - Rare steak and flank/brisket meat. 4. Pork Chop Dac Biet - My favorite! Grilled pork chop, shredded pork, egg cake, rice, and some sliced cucumbers and other pickled veggies. Sometimes I make Daniel bring this home takeout for me... especially the little eggy cake. Also came with a bowl of pho broth. Their broth is flavorful and has minimal MSG = NO HEADACHES. Score! Service is standard Vietnaemse to me, grumpy old dudes who sigh when they have to come talk to you and bring everything out super fast. Prices are pretty cheap, about $6 per plate/bowl. I hate travelling during the holidays. We have a bad habit of leaving town when places are closed for the holidays. In the summer of 2011, we went to Nashville over the 4th of July holiday. New Orleans was planned over New Year's, and we tried to hit some places on the first. This led us to Pho Bang. My wife was determined to give me a tour of New Orleans. Travelling to Little Vietnam was not something that I had in the plans. We drove to the edge of the city to an industrial part of town to check out Dong Phuong, a Vietnamese restaurant with somewhat historical interest. Being New Year's Day, this place was naturally closed, so we were in the middle of nowhere and hungry as hell. We settled on Pho Bang, and neither of us were horribly impressed. The spring rolls weren't wrapped very well, and the inside were spilling out while we were trying to dip them in the sauce. We both ordered pho, and I felt like it was pretty middle of the road. There wasn't anything particular wrong with our bowls. The quantity was pretty impressive. However, it was our final meal in NOLA and somewhat disappointing. We really need to plot our trips better. read more

Landed at this spot with a few coworkers after we found out "the bakery" was closed on Tuesdays. It was a group of about 10 of us ordering just about everything on the menu. The food was excellent and I don't think we would have gotten anything better anywhere else but the service was atrocious. The food took about an hour to get to us though I think they were overwhelmed by the number of people we brought in. It was about 1pm though and they have to know that when "the bakery" is closed Tuesday is probably going to be the busiest day. If your in the east and want Vietnamese your going to want to go somewhere else but if that somewhere is closed, this is a good supplement but be ready for the wait. read more

Located in the New Orleans east, my home, known as the Village of Versailles. WELCOME, COME ON OVER! Pho Bang also has another location located in the Westbank which I find to be a tad better, but is always busy! This Pho Bang, however..is more spacious and not always crazy packed unless on a Sunday after church, but most likely you'd find almost all Vietnamese places to be crazy on Sunday mornings. Extremely cheap and good food. I doubt the myth that they reuse their noodles...then you'd be able to taste the difference, but anywho. I LOVE their Che ba mau, it's literally the bomb!...very different from the traditional che ba mau and not overly sweet. Their pho broth is pretty yummy as well, not overly salty, sweet, or bland like some Vietnamese places make. AND they offer large or small size bowls. -Coming here I would recommend their pho, bun bo hue, bun w/charpork and/or eggrolls, or their rice dishes,.. Skip the fresh rolls appetizers. Please do NOT go here. The waitress was one of the WORST waitresses I have ever had in my life. She was rude. My friend had hair and what looked to be a large glob of SPIT in her boba. That is so disgusting. Who would do something that horrible to someone? My friend was so upset. We even still tipped her to be nice!!!! I am never going back there. She had the nastiest attitude. I truly hope they either fire her or close down. The fried spring rolls were disgusting and almost looked burnt. The rice noodles tasted like they came out of the box. I've been here a few times as a child and decided to come again since I was in the area. This place is TERRIBLE. Our waitress never cleared our table and never came back to check on us. I had to go up to the cashier to ask for anything. The food is overpriced for their quality. I brought my boyfriend & grandma, and they also hated it. The pho was bland, dipping sauce for the spring rolls was watery, the bo luc lac was tasteless and burnt, and the egg rolls weren't good either. The service, however, is icy, and I've gotten the distinct feeling that the people who work here feel like they are too important to be serving other people food. For sharing the same name as the West Bank location, this place is sure tasty! I'm solely giving this place 4 stars for having pho ga or chicken pho! The beef pho is pretty good too, but man the chicken pho! Sometimes I don't want beef, but chicken..yummy! The broth is lighter and the noodles just taste yummy! I don't normally go to the Eastbank often but when I do this is probably the only place my family and I dine at. It was Mother's day and we stopped by to wish my grandma a good one. By the time we reached the restaurant it was pretty empty with four other tables occupied. We put our order as soon as we were seated. I opted for grilled meat, shrimp and eggroll vermicelli. Our order took a good 15-20 minutes to come out. My parents were a bit displeased being that we were one out of the five tables in the whole place. What I had wasn't too bad but I was pretty famished by the time I got my food. The only thing I didn't care for was the grilled meat. Everything else was pretty okay. My dad didn't care for his Pho water. He felt it was old broth and my mom's Bu Bo Hue wasn't nothing too special. We made do with our meal and sat out the storm that came pouring down while we were eating. It was pretty cold in the place too for some reason so for those who get cold easily just come prepared with a cardigan or something just in case. I'm not sure how it's like on any other normal Sunday being that it was a holiday weekend. I'm sure it's usually even more busy with the Asian community after church on Sunday's. read more

The Pho here is disappointing. Never have I left here finishing my bowl of pho or bother to even order it . The recipe needs to change , because it taste no where near the traditional Vietnamese pho that I know. The broth is bland and has no herbal / sweet flavor, the beef and pork taste very cheap and old , almost as if they been frozen for over too long. I don't even think the Vietnamese spices are added to the broth just because I can tell it's nothing more but MSG and "Pho flavored" seasoning. The food here is excellent and I've gone here for years to eat it, but they've recently had a new waitress working (I'm pretty sure she's related to the family) and she has turned me off from the experience completely. Her service is horrible! She'll get to you once when you get there and never check on you again or it feels as if you're really burdening her to do her job. We were literally the only table in the restaurant and it took them 20 minutes to get our food out. Vietnamese restaurants are generally known for their swift and competent service but sadly, this one has gone downhill. I went here after reading Stephanies review because I'm also from Oakland and I was afraid the pho here wouldn't live up to what we have in the bay. Thank goodness this place does! I had the rabbit pho and it was fan-freaking-tastic! I also order the spring rolls and they were very good, but the meat was a bit dry. Their peanut dipping sauce was great though. All the employees were super nice and it was a very welcoming environment. I'm definitely going back! Oh, and it's super affordable. read more

Came here a month or so ago and forgot to write a review. I placed a to-go order on the phone and came in 20 mins later, food isn't ready. In the end, I waited another 30 mins. Seriously? Like, c'mon! I believe they forgot my order and put me back in queue. But OMG, im just looking in the kitchen thinking I could literally fix my order myself and bounce out, it would've taken 5 mins. It was ONE order of pho. I was already feeling under the weather and needed something soupy and hot. You're better off going to DP down the street but it was closed Tuesday so I had no choice.
